IOS 7 Calendar alerting for past events

Has anyone else experienced this ...
At 9:30 this morning (03-Oct) I got an alert for an event from last week (26-Sep).
Then at 10:00 I got an alert for another event from last week (26-Sep).
Upon examining the events, I saw the alerts set as:
9:30 event – alert 1 = one week before
10:00 event – alert 1 = 1 day before, alert 2 = 1 week before
After upgrading to iOS7 I set the default calendar alert to "1 week before" – that might explain why the second event's alert 2 is set earlier than alert 1.
But it doesn't explain the "you were supposed to be doing this last week" alert popping up.
Any thoughts (other than some date arithmetic gone awry)?

iPilot1 - after I upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 I got an even bigger surprise - the default alert time for any new event I created was "7 days after". I kid you not. At the top of the list of options, before "None".
However I just went back to the Calendar settings to check the default alert time, and nothing was ticked.
I chose "1 week before", and Hey Presto, new events default to "1 week before".
Of course, I won't know this has worked for sure until I get an alert.

  • Turning off alarms for past events

I use .Mac to sync my iCal calendars among three computers. Two are laptops which are not always on and one is a Mini which is always on. I use alarms for most of my events and the Mini sends out these alarms just fine. The problem is that when I open iCal on one of the laptops, it sends out a bunch of alarms for past events.
I have the "Turn off alarms when iCal is not open" box checked on both my laptops. And the iCal scheduler (can't find the exact name) is not running on the laptops and is not in my login apps list.
What I want is to able to continue to sync iCal but not have the laptops send out alarms. I don't want to delete events after they have past because I like to see past events in the calendar.
Is it possible to continue to sync via .Mac but turn off all alarms on the laptops? Or is it possible to delete the alarm associated with an event after the event is past? This would not work 100% of the time since I could open iCal on the laptop before the latest sync occurred and the alarm would still be there but it would cut down on the number of old alarm events. This may require an AppleScript and I am totally ignorant about coding AppleScript.
    Thanks.

  • Ios 7 calendar does not show events 2 years in the future

Why does ios 7 calendar does not show events 2 years in the future?
I've entered the events more than twice and it all shows up in the OSX calendar but not on my iphone.

Just tested it works even 3 years ahead.
Tap Calendars (bottom, middle) is All iCloud selected (tick mark)?

  • Is there a way to set an alert for every event in a single calendar?

    Hi all,
Is there a way to globally set an event in just one of the calendars showing in iCal?
For example, I have a "Birthday" Calendar with a bunch of birthday events.  I want to set the alert for all of them to, say, noon, without having to edit each and every one.
    Thanks!
       Greg

To generally add an alarm to all events in a specific calendar you would need to program an Automator Workflow that passes all events of the calendar to an Applescript that adds the alarm.
For your birthdays problem is a predefined solution iCal: If you enter the Birthdays on the cards in your Address Book, and enable the "Show Birthdays Calendar Flag", then you will receive automatic email notifications of upcoming birthdays.

  • Can you set alerts specific for different calendars so when you create an event, the alert for the event is already set?

On google calendar if you had a calendar for work and one for school, you can set alerts for earch so when you add a class or work related event, the event is set with alerts for that calendar. Can you do that with iCal?

    Hi Steven,
This is one of the reasons why I wrote Dates to iCal.
As well as automatically syncing birthday dates from Address Book, Dates to iCal can sync anniversary and custom dates. It can set up to five alarms for each date in iCal and can also set different alarms for birthdays and anniversaries.
    Best wishes

  • How do I set up multiple alerts for one event?

So, I'm currently using MS Exchange to sync my google calendar with my iphone5, and almost everything's working pretty nicely, events would get pushed to my phone right away as I put it on my computer. But the thing is, my phone will only alert me for the earliest alert if I had multiple alerts set up for one event on google calendar. How can I fix it? Any advice would be appreciated!

I have a similar issue with a slight twist.
I have 'My Card' setup properly, however, I do have 5 email addresses that I use and these are listed on 'My Card'.  When I select the option to add an email alert on a calendar event, the app is picking up two addresses from the set of 5 and makes me pick one.
I would like to select one of the other addresses to be the default for sending out the alerts.  Is there a way to do that.  If it is helpful, the app is picking up 2 of the 'Work' email addresses.  I don't know if the home vs work designation would make a difference.
Note: I am looking for a solution to pick one a specific address from the contact card to send out the alert email.  I am NOT looking to have a discussion as to why I have 5 addresses.
    Thanks

  • Alerts for recurring events in iCal no longer display on iPhone after iOS5 upgrade

That pretty much says it.  I have a daily meeting in my iCal, with two alarms set, one for 15 minutes before and one for 5 minutes before.  The alerts no longer display on my phone after the upgrade.  (They appear on my Mac no problem.)  Has anyone else seen this problem?  I have notifications turned on for iCal , set to Alerts.  Tried badges, tried turning notifications off then on, to no avail.  It doesn't display for recurring events that were in my calendar before the upgrade and for those created after the upgrade.  I don't seem to have a problem with regular i.e. non-recurring events.  Doesn't seem to matte also if it is the default calendar or a different calendar either.  (I tried Reminders and that worked fine, but I don't want to have type all of my recurring events in to iCal and then in to Reminders as well....)
    Thanks very much

I'm having the same problem on my iMac (works on a different phone on my MBP). I restored the iphone and no dice. I'm also constantly getting a beach ball... Hope someone out there knows a workaround.

  • Can't set Calendar Alerts for Google Calendar

I have several Google Calendars for my work and personal schedules. I've used Apple Calendar (formerly iCal) on my Mac, and the Calendar app on my iPhone to interact with my Google Calendars for years with no issues.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I can no longer set alerts on any Google Calendar events. When I edit a Google Calendar event using Apple Calendar, I can change any field, including the 'Alert' settings. However, when I click to save my changes, the alert settings are entirely removed.
In Calendar Preferences, I can set a default alert that applies to all my Google Calendars, but I can't change the settings for any individual calendar event. If I attempt to do so, then Apple Calendar removes all alerts from the event.
UPDATE: It seems the problem is that Google Calendar doesn't know what to do with a "Message with sound" alert type. You can use "Message" and it works fine (with no sound obviously).

Strange, I am experiencing the exact problems you describe, however it doesn't matter whether the alert is set as "message" or "message with sound".
By default, events created in a Google calendar have an alert of "mesage, 30 minutes before". If I try to change the time, add a new alert, or remove the default alert, inevitably it get's reset to the default state.
Furthermore, If I change the alert using Google Calendar in a web browser, the event in Calendar (aka iCal) doesn't get updated, it stays at 30 minutes. Sometimes I receive the alert an hour before anyway, despite what Calendar indicates. Very Frustrating.

  • Searching iCal for past events

I am trying to search iCal for a past event. The search window only is giving me events in the current month or in the future. I am on an iMac running 10.8.5. If i manually go back a month I can see an instance of this event that is not showing up in the search results. If I try Spotlight I get the same results. I feel like this is something simple that I am missign but I just can't figure it out!

I suppose this should be Searching Calendar ver. 6.0 not iCal--sorry!

  • How do you get alerts for expired events after iCal starts?

    Hello,
If this has been covered please point me to the right direction because I couldn't find it.
When I get into work I wan't to be alerted to any events that have happened between me shutting off my computer the night before and starting up my computer for that day. Currently, if I start iCal after the time the alarm is suppose to go off I will never see that event. Is there an option to show these past events when iCal starts?

I get no menu that comes up when choosing import from device, only a finder level window allowing me to choose where I want to import files from. I did have to unmount, unplug and reinsert the CF card to get the "Import from Mass Storage Device" dialog that is what comes up when a card is inserted after Lightroom is already running and visible.
The problem I am having is that 'Import from Device' is grayed out when the card is already inserted before I start Lightroom. That is why I could not choose it. Otherwise, if I go about it normally, to insert the card after Lightroom is running, the choice for "Import from Device" is not grayed out, but it doesn't matter then really because that menu comes up automatically after I insert the card.

  • Delete a calendar without deleting past events? (iCal 5.0.3)

    Hi,
Is there a way I can delete one of my calendars on iCal without losing all the past events? Right now, if I just delte it I get a warning that all event in that sequence will be gone.
    Thank you

Actually, I've figured it out. In order not to lose the past events in a calendar I can export the whole calendar. Delete it, then Import it into a calendar that I don't want to delete. This way all the past events will remain.

  • I have iPhone 5 IOS 8.1.2; for past 13 weeks I get message that my phone has not backed up on the cloud. Every night however the wifi is on, phone is connected to power, and screen is locked. Any idea why back-up is not happening ?

    I have an iPhone 5 IOS 8.1.2;
for the past 13 weeks I get the message that "this phone has not been backed up on the cloud". However, every night it is connected to wifi, phone is connected to power, and the screen is locked. Any idea why back-up is not happening ? By the way, I do not have the "back up now" option in Setting / iCloud.. Help anyone ?

Try deleting an other icloud backup and see if it will automatically backup.

  • Can I have calendar alerts for only one calendar with multiple calendars?

My wife has multiple calendars on her iPhone (mine and hers), but she would like to receive alerts/notifications only for the items on her calendar. Is this possible? (This seems to be the opposite problem from what this person experienced: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8479193.)
We sync with Outlook on a PC via iTunes.

I have the very same problem. In our company, we have shared CalDAV calendars for every employee. I receive and sync those to my Mac and to my iPhone/iPod Touch; on both platforms I only want alerts for my personal appointments, and not to get alerted when my colleagues have a business lunch.
Interestingly, in iCal on Mac OS X, there is an option "Ignore Alarms" for every single shared calendar, and I can cherry-pick those that I want to get alerted about. This is exactly the behavior I want on the iPhone, too, which regrettably is not possible (yet?).
The other option would be to forbid alarms in shared calendars for everybody, which is not feasible, too, because people might want to get alarms without having to duplicate the date to some personal calendar first.
So if anyone has a practical solution to this problem, I'd be happy to hear about it. Thanks!

  • Search for past event

Unable to find a apst evein previous years. Seem to be the case for all events older than 3 months.

Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>scroll down to the Calendars section and tap Sync, set to a longer time period.

  • Alerting for System Event 6005 on Windows 2012 R2 clients.

I am trying to figure out why an Event is not showing up in the Windows System Log except when a Filter is applied.
So, open up, on the same server (2012 R2), side-by-side, two windows showing the System Log. On the RHS window only apply a filter for Event ID 6005.
Then try and find the top 6005 Event on the LHS window (which has no filter applied). The event is not there.
What am I doing wrong?? I cannot get SCOM to trigger an alert for 6005 as the Event is not showing up on 2012 R2.
(This behavior is not occurring for Windows 2012 or 2008 R2 or 2003 R2)
    Thx,

    Hi
never go for event id monitor/rules  for shutdown of a server, as scom agent will be stopped on shutdown and agent will not able generate alert for shutdown.
SCOM has default monitoring for Heartbeat to alert on server down

If the heartbeat interval is x and count is y then scom will generate alert if agent is down for x*(y-1) (example: if heartbeat interval is 120 and count is set to 3 then scom will generate alert if agent is down for 240 seconds.i.e you will never get an alert
    if agent reboot <240 sec.
The  port monitoring is best way to monitor serve availability.
