IOS 7 Calendar changes

I don't like the new io7 changes to the calendar settings, I am now unable to put an appointment in my calendar that reoccurs every 4 weeks, it only lets you do it as monthly.
(Some months have 5 weeks to a month so this won't work)
The old way used to let you choose the number of weeks to repeat, now you only get WEEKS, FORTNIGHTLY or MONTHLY with no choices.
Stuffs up my whole system,  I hope there is away around this problem?

You can set up that kind of repeat with Siri. Or, use another calendar app, such as Week Cal, that has more robust repeat functions. Note: anything you set up in Week Cal will show up in the regular calendar and vice versa.
Best of luck.

  • Recurring event times wrong by 1 hr only in iOS calendar

I just noticed that all my recurring events seemt to be one hour later in the Calendar app on my iPhone (iOS 5.1). In the iCloud calendar (on the web site) the times are correct.  I don't know if this happened right after the recent "spring forward" daylight savings time change, or right after the update to iOS 5.1.
All my other events are showing the correct time. Only the recurring events are shifted one hour to the future in the iOS calendar.
Is anyone else seeing this problem? Any ideas for a fix?
(And, before you ask, my iPhone has the correct time zone setting and is configured to automatically set the time; and I haven't left my timezone in over two months.)
    Dave Hein

I found the problem. When the tasks were initially created, I did not have Time Zone Support turn on in iCloud (the website) or on my iPhone or in iCal on my Mac.  The events were all created over the winter, not during daylight savings time.
I turned on Time Zone support in iCloud, on my iPhone, and in iCal. That did not fix the problem. But I noticed that, in iCloud, when I turned on Time Zone support, the initial time zone it selected was "Central Standard Time".  But I'm now in Central Daylight Time; so I tried setting the time zone (using the little popup map widget is tricky!) and found I could also set the Time Zone to "Central Time" -- no 'daylight' or 'standard' distinction. So I set it to Central Time.
Still no joy.  But then, still in iCloud Calendar, I double clicked on one of the offending events and in the set of properties display was now a Time Zone property ... and it was still set to Central Standard Time.  So I went into each event that was at the wrong time and changed the time zone from Central Standard Time to Central Time.
My guess it that "Central Time" is a time zone designation that means it will automatically switch between standard time and daylight savings time.
So, everything is working again. Hope this helps someone.

  • HT203521 In iOS8 I can't turn off shared iCloud calendar alerts. I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and am constantly getting their alarms for upcoming appointments. Settings- Notifications- Calendar- Shared Calendar Changes turns off changes only.

Have had new iPhone 6 for 2 months, using iOS 8.  I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and I am getting bombarded with their upcoming appointment alerts.  There seems no way to turn this off.  I went to Settings->Notifications->INCLUDE(Calendar)->Shared Calendar Changes and turned everything off, but this only blocks alerts about new events or changes to events being added to the calendars, it does not block the 5-minute/10-minute/etc. alarms that go off immediately in advance of the appointment.  There used to be a setting in iOS7 in "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" way at the bottom to turn off alarms from shared calendars, but I don't see that in iOS8.  Any ideas?

Finally figured this out when I read jodiemcneill 's post about Google calendars.  Thanks!
Reposting the basic idea: to turn off event alerts from shared ICloud calendars, select the Calendar App, then click the "info" (i.e., the circled red 'i') icon next to the shared iCloud calendar to be silenced. Go down to "Notifications" and turn the slider off for "Event Alerts: (Allow events on this calendar to display alerts.)"
For good measure, you can also turn off the slider for "Show Changes" to prevent the calendar from displaying messages when shared events are added/modified/deleted, although this can be done "globally" for all shared iCloud Calendars in Settings->Notifications->Calendar->Invitations (turn off all sliders, click "none" for Alert Style).
This has been a major pain in the ... neck ... for the past 3 months.  So glad to start the new year with a suddnely-much-quieter iPhone 6.

  • Exchange iOS calendar sync 4 cancellations & accepted meetings

Using corporate Exchange 2010 servers for calendar and email me and my co-workers experience the following annoyance.
When a meeting in outlook is cancelled and this is accepted using the windows client, the cancelled meeting is still shown in de ios calendar. It is noted cancelled using strikethrough, but it still clutters my calendar. As my calendar is a battlefield these cancellations make it hard to see which meetings I do have... How can I change this behaviour?
Similarly for accepted meetings, these (with cancellations aswell) remain unprocessed in my ios calendar tray while I allready accepted or rejected the invitations using outlook in windows.
I'm referring to ios because I have this problem with both my iPhone (4S on ios5, no iCloud sync for calendar) and iPad (2 on ios5, no iCloud sync for calendar).
Result: cancelled meetings have to be removed manually on iphone en ipad, invitations in outlook have to be processed three times (pc, iphone, ipad).
My questions: is this behaviour recognized? (i.e. is our Exchange setup different or is this a general problem).
Any tips/hints how to solve these bugs? or should I try to accept them as features...
    Thx!
    Mike

Having same issue with following equipment:  PC (standard corp issue laptop), BB (Blackberry phone), Tablet (Blackberry Playbook tablet)
    Here are the steps:
    Send out 3 meeting invites
The emails shows up on all 3 devices, PC, BB, Tablet
Before you open the email and accept/tentative/decline that invite...all 3 devices show the 3 "unaccepted" meetings on the calendar
Then accept meeting invite #1 on the PC, accept meeting #2 on the BB, and accept meeting #3 on the Tablet
After the acceptance all 3 meetings they show up fine in the calendars on the PC and BB...no problem here.
But only meeting number 3 which was accepted on the Tablet shows on the Tablet
The problem is that the other 2 meetings which were on the Tablet before being accepted, are removed when accepted.

  • IOS Calendar - Google CalDAV Alerts Disappear

So I'll make this brief and succint. I have daily alerts set up in my sync'd Google calendar using the native iOS Calendar.
What happens is that I hear the noise on my device (Alert for Calendar event), but when you look at your phone or iPad, the event is gone. As some of these are daily reminders, I know what they are, so I know what I missed. I then started watching my phone during the time change. Sure enough, at the date/time of an event, I would briefly see the alert and it would disappear instantly. This is really frustrating, as at times I have other events that are not daily and those disappear too. I have to go open up the Calendar app to find out what it is. It used to be that the alert would stay up on my screen until I could dismiss/OK it.. so I didn't miss it.
I have a single Google account that I used to add 'CalDav' sync to my iPhone and iPad.
My Google account has 3 calendars (Personal, Family, Good Habits).
These 3 calendars show up, and sync properly with the Calendar app. I see them in there no problem, and it updates.
I have it set up on my iPhone (4s/iOS 6.1) and iPad 3 (iOS 6.1) the same way.
Does anybody else have problems with their Calendar Alerts disappearing from the screen?
For now, the only way I've found to resolve it is to use Google.com/calendar to set up important events to also send me an SMS. This way I at least get a solid notification I can't miss.
I would really love to have the pop-up alerts work properly though. Combing the internet has not yielded help. Using other calendar apps does not help.
Should I be using Exchange to sync my Google Calendars instead of CalDAV? As Exchange support is being dropped by Google, this is not an option.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and for any help you can lend.

I recall a couple years ago when I set it up there were limitations, I forget what they were now, to using active sync and people recommended using cardav and caldav.  I have a Google Apps for Domains account that I’m using.  At this point I see no reason to investigate further.
    Thanks again!

  • IOS Calendar Synch Issue with Google - iOS 8.1.3

I upgraded to iOS 8.1.3 a few days ago, and since then, am finding that my iPhone is not synching properly with changes to my Google calendar made on other devices. Opening iOS calendar presents me with the spinning wheel for several minutes. To rectify the problem, I have to reboot or shut down the device entirely. When it comes back on, everything works fine.
If this happened just once, I would have chocked it up to an anomaly. However, the behavior I described just happened for the second time in three days. First time was on LTE and this morning while my device was on my home FiOS WiFi.
Nothing else appears awry, and upon reboot via a "soft" shut-down or hard reboot, calendar functions return to normal.
    Appreciate some input ....
    Many thanks.
    - David

I Found if I do a soft reset it triggers my phone to start working though it lasts for 20-30 minutes and resorts back to issue again. I've also noticed AirPlay no longer functions properly which I realized after I updated my iPad to 8.1.3 which I regularly used for AirPlay so I tried it on my iPhone and it didn't work as well I tried it on my wife's iPhone and hers no longer works either. Wow! Disappointed to say the least. I know I can't be the only one frustrated with these 8+ updates as I've read it seems to be ongoing with thousands of others reporting online. It's not just the hard earned money spent on Apple products though when life becomes dependent upon using the products it seriously interfere with use

  • Icloud Calendar changes color

On my iPhone 4S (6.1.3) subscribed calendars change color back to owners preset color. Macbook and browsers work properly.
I can change the color to my favortite, but few seconds later it changes back. Rebooting the iPhone, deleting third party calenders didn't help.
    Any solutions?
    Have a nice day, amo

My apologies.  I should have added that I had read and followed instructions on all 3 of the troubleshooting pages (Lion, iCloud, and iOS).  I always try to solve the problem before I write.
I fiddled with it more today and at the moment it seems to be working.  It appears that I have to go into Calendar on the iPhone to make any changes that will keep.  That is a bit of a drag since I actually use WeekCal on my phone.  So later today I will probably remove and reinstall the app.
With that being the case I think I know what might have started this cascade of problems, but would take too long to write here.  I will continue to mess with it and probably be able to get it working.  I think I need to turn off icloud and erase the calendars from my iPhone so it sees the Mac as the main source of the calendars again.
    Thanks anyway for your suggestions.

  • How to set up iOS calendar app with shared Google Calendar data

At work (in our small office) I've been given access to the shared Google Calendar that has our work schedule. It was set up using this page (click on Share an existing calendar):
    https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37082
The question I have is how to set it up to work with iOS calendar app on my iPhone?

"currently there is no shared group calendar support."
Well, not really. You hinted at it with: "set up a group wiki."
Go into Workgroup Manager and set up an Open Directory group. Add people to it.
Each client must then go into iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts and add an account. The name and password entered must be the same as that added to the group, Kerberos must be unchecked, and the account URL will be like (fill in the blanks properly):
    http://<your domain name here>:8008/principals/groups/<your group name here>/
Now each properly logged in user of that group can make changes to the shared group calendar, without any "hacks" like making dummy users and delegation.
However, I am getting a notifier: "Request Error: Accesss to <event name> in <your group name here> in account <your group name here> is not permitted." But that seems to be a lie, since multiple members of the group can make changes and others can see the changes.
Oh yea, make sure you have a functioning DNS with valid reverse lookup.

  • IOS Calendar not displaying recurring appointment on the correct date

I have a recurring appointment set up in Microsoft Outlook, with the following settings:
In Microsoft Outlook, this appointment is correctly displayed on 2 May 2013 at 8:30am.
But, in iOS Calendar, this appointment appears on 8 May 2013 at 8:30am.
In June 2013, Outlook correctly shows this on the 4 June, but iOS Calendar shows this on the 10 June.
Pretty sure this is a bug in iOS Calendar, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Maybe it wasn't receiving the correct info from your carrier. You're supposed to turn your phone off once in a while so the carrier can update stuff. I had originally heard that you should do it once a day but I never did that.

  • Mail in iOS 7 changes default mail account after entering addresses?

I just noticed that the Mail app in iOS 7 changes the sent from email address from my default to another account I have after entering in the send to address. When I first create the new email the correct default email address is showing (iCloud) but after I add any send to address it changes to another account (Hotmail) as the sent from account.
I checked my settings and iCloud is still set as the default account, I can click and change it before sending the email but I think this may be a bug unless there is something I missed.
    Anyone else have this problem?

Oh, and just to add, whilst under Settings > Mail it does indeed state 'default mail account to use when an application outside of mail attempts to send mail'.  However also when you are in the Mail app and on the main screen where you can see all your mailboxes, the Mail App also needs a 'default' account, and in my experience/opinion this is pulled from the Default account within Settings > Mail rather than which ever mailbox is top of the list within the Mail app (didnt work for me!)
But regardless, I have sent an email from an app outside of Mail and the issue is encountered:-  I have my virgin.net as my default email (via Settings > Mail).  I go into the Photo app, and select a photo to email.  My virgin.net email is showing in the From box - so far so good.  I select an email address for the To box.  My From email address switches to my iCloud.com address.  So this is the bug.  It should not be doing this.  This is the same issue it seems encountered by the original member of this thread.  Anyone know how you alert Apple to bugs in their software?

  • CalDAV invitations not showing up in iOS calendar

I'm trying to get my CalDAV based calendar invitations to show up in the iOS calendar. For some reason, iOS Mail doesn't recognize them them as invites in my inbox. I'm using two separate CalDAV calendars here, one is coming from Google, the other from my private CalDAV server. Both accounts are syncing just fine, but invitations sent via email do not get recognized and aren't ending up in the calendar inbox.
I'm missing meetings because of this, is there any way to fix this?

Oh? May I ask what it was and perhaps how it was fixed?
I am running into the same problem.
    Thanks!

  • Global Calendar Changes Affecting Project Calendars

How do you prevent Global Calendar changes from changing the Project Calendars? When Project Calendars are created, they are copied from another calendar, say Global Calendar. Now, when the Global Calendar is updated or changed it changes my Project Calendar. How do you prevent this from occurring?

If the change to the Global Calendar is valid, it IS going to impact all local schedules. The Global Calendar is the basic Enterprise assumption. It is what contracts are written around.
If the projects are using a Global Calendar they are going to forecast the calendar, but a resource's calendar can allow performing a task anytime in the operational plan. That is the nature of high level settings and local or operational variants. Project execution is not nailed to the Global Calendar, Your original schedule forecasted from the Global structure and was accepted. If experience leads you to make change in the Global Calendar, that is reality. You will forecast the added knowledge gained from experience and set in the Global Calendar. If it creates Risk in the existing projects, deal with it locally. You record dynamic adjustments in the Actuals. You forecast local results from to-date actuals and local resource calendars. Management 'is' overcoming Global problems with local resources.
Leave the Global Calendar alone for operational exceptions. Remove exceptions from the Global Calendar. The Global Calendar is for planning. That Global Calendar is still the basic assumption, despite operational problems in your schedule. If the Global Calendar has a holiday, the projects it is assigned to forecast the holiday. Simplify your Global Calendars to match basic, high-level, factual assumptions.
Let your Resource Calendars forecast the detail of operations and overcome the Global Calendar. But actualize what happens no matter what any calendar says so calculation is up to date.
Calendars are strictly for calculation, for forecasting. You can always log progress on Christmas or during Ramadan, just as you logged no progress during the hurricane. But Joe Labor Unit will not forecast performing his task in NYCNY on even a regular Monday if his calendar has him training in Borneo. Cancel Joe's trip and change his calendar. He is available in NYCNY on the date you want now. His forecast changes, the project forecast changes. Primavera is perfectly dynamic. And the project will not forecast work on Christmas or during Ramadan if the Global Calendar says these are exceptions to your usual M-F 8-5 with an hour for lunch. Global Calendars are the sub-structure that we accept in building the initial, accepted Project Schedule and that provide the framework we analyze Risk mitigation around in operations.
"We're forecasting a late finish now due to the hurricane." "Schedule the workforce to work through the Christmas holidays." (adjust, adjust, adjust) "That brought completion in." The Global Calendar assumes no hurricanes and getting Christmas off. After the hurricane, the PM sets the operational guideline. The Scheduler adjusts the resource calendars to overcome the hurricane period's lost progress. As soon as the As-built has the adjustments, the schedule calculates and forecasts completion on time. The workforce is not scheduled to work Christmas in the Global Calendar. In their Resource calendars, now they are. The schedule forecasts work at Christmas. You mitigated the hurricane risk by overriding the Global Calendar with Resource Assignments. If you make those Resource Calendar Christmas adjustments in September when the hurricane hit, you will forecast project completion on time in the next report from P6. You pull completion back to the left after operational realities pushed it out to the right.
The original schedule is Art- planning, compromise and commitment. The ongoing fine-tuning and manipulation of As-built detail makes Art a Masterpiece by giving the heartbeat of the project and implementing the vision of its manager. Or not..

  • How do I transfer calendar changes FROM ipad TO computer?

how do I transfer calendar changes FROM ipad TO computer?

Thanks Chris. Trouble is, I have created  a pile of calendar detail (and contacts) in iPad, but have a blank version of Outlook  on Pc (had to reinstall). Reading synch instruction, implies iPad will synch with pc, and delete existing iPad content (plenty) and replace with pc outlook content (zilch). So I would stand to lose everything.
Have turned on iCloud on iPad, but can't see any content in pc based iTunes, (nor of course, in Outlook)
So want to be sure to keep what I have ON iPad and transfer it TO Outlook. I can then continue to edit/add content on iPad and transfer that TO computer (from time to time)
    Any ideas?
