IOS 7 Calendar greyed out

Hi,
I can't get my iOS 7 calendar to respond to any commands... it opens, but everything is greyed out (i can navigate the app, but I can't execute anything).  My iCloud is working perfectly, and it syncs with my macbook pro, but my iPhone 4 calendar will not sync or allow me to create new events.  I can however sync successfully with third party apps like the sunrise calendar app for my iPhone.  My contacts and safari are also syncing just fine.
Believe it or not, I do want to be able to use the default calendar app.  I have tried all the usual solutions in the message boards, and nothing seems to work.  Does anyone have a solution?

I had the same problem until this moring. Using Google, go to the black bar (+you, search, images, more) and hit +you. That should activate the Plus key. Hope it works with your ipad, too.

  • Calendar and contact options are greyed out

    Hi all,
I wand to sync my contacts and calendar between my iPad1 and my Windows Laptop.
After installing the icloud sync software, I was only able to check "favourites and photostream" to be synced. The fields mail, calendar and contacts are greyed out and not available to select.
I have browsed through the Internet, de-installed that software piece and installed it again, not change.
Passwaords have been corrected according to the iTune needs (8characters, and so on).
I do not know what to do, any ideas?
    Thanks

When you say you are trying to get a file from your local c:drive, dio you mean that you are trying to import a file into your site from elsewhere on your computer, rather than 'getting' it from your remote server.  If you are trying to import a file from your local c:drive don't use the 'get' or 'put' buttons because they are just for remote connections, instead just use windows explorer to locate the file then either copy or cut and paste the file into the folder for your site.

  • TS1559 WiFi greyed out - no WiFi on iPhone 4s with iOS 6.1.3

Two days ago I discovered my phone was suffering from the popular "Greyed out WiFi" syndrome.
On Settings> General> About the WiFi address appears as N/A. Bluetooth is working normally.
I have tried everything I have found on the matter on the Internet: Erasing the iPhone, Resetting Networks Settings, Restoring from iTunes, all of which has only led to my losing all my Apps and most definitely has not fixed the problem.
From what I have read, I believe it is a hardware problem and it cannot be fixed, but I don't undertsand why this happens randomly and for no reason (I updated to iOS 6.1.3 a while ago and only experienced the problem a couple of days ago) and I certainly don't understand how Apple is not responding / taking care of this situation considering the great amount of customers who are not being able to use the WiFi on their phones (which leads to an almost useless iPhone).
One of the most appreciated features of Apple products was the quick and effective technical support it offered, but this kind of issue certainly shows that Apple is changing and will stop treating their customers (who, by the way, pay the highest price on the market for its products) as it used to. The "Greyed out WiFi" is a completely random problem which is in no way caused by the users of the iPhone and Apple should be responsible for it.

    hello PH  Caulfield,
I had the same problem, I am also a bit disappointed in apple that they never fixed that problem, I had the same thing with my Iphone 4s. You cant fix this problem all you can doe is go to an apple retail seller and show them the problem and they will fore sure swap the phone for a new Iphone 4s

  • I have a iphone 4s. Recently the wifi greyed out when i was on ios 7.0.4 and itunes said to update the phone to ios 8.0.2 to solve the problem. Today i did it and still wifi is greyed out. In the "About" under Settings, it shows N/A infront of wifi

i have an iphone 4s. Recently the wifi settings greyed out when i was using ios 7.0.4. When i connected it to itunes, it showed that update your iphone. At an apple forum they said that updating will solve this problem. I just updated it to 8.0.2 but still wifi is greyed out. In settings>general>about, there is an option of wifi address which shows N/A. What is the problem? Is is the hardware? Kindly guide me.

There are many threads on this forum about this issue. Do a forum search for "wi-fi greyed out" and see if any of the solutions therein will work for you. Best of luck.

  • I have apple iPhone 4S upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 and everything was working fine suddenly my Wifi was not connecting and found the wifi on/off button is greyed out and to enable it I tried all resets but still my problem have not solved, still wifi is off

I have apple iPhone 4S upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 and everything was working fine suddenly my Wifi was not connecting and found the wifi on/off button is greyed out and to enable it I tried all resets but still my problem have not solved, still wifi is off

Same here.... No fix. Replacing is the option apparently and if you're out of warranty, you're SOL. That was as per the "Genius" at Apple.

  • Itunes will not let me sync my music after downloading IOS 7 the music is greyed out and will not transfer to my iPhone

Hello, so I have an iphone 4s and just put the update for ios 7 onto my phone but I am having trouble syncing the previous music onto my music app. Itunes will not sync my songs and when i click the "On this Phone" button it shows the songs i want but they are greyed out with a circle next to them. Idk what this means

You cannot drag a song to Touch. It forces you to be organized. Make a list in itunes then drag that list to the Touch icon in the side bar. That should work.

  • I have just updated my iPhone 4 with latest IOS 7 and now wi fi greyed out and Bluetooth not working. Tried reset, restore everything - no use. Its out of warranty too. I refuse to pay for a new phone when clearly this is an apple issue not phone issue.

Can anyone help? I updated my iPhone 4 with latest iOS 7 and now wi fi is greyed out, Bluetooth won't work and tbh am so angry! Phone now out of warranty so apple won't help without it costing me. Don't want to pay as its an apple problem not phone problem. It worked ok before. Tried everything, even clearing it down. Can't even back it up now unless I connect to a pc!

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version.  I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again.  I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again.  My blue tooth doesn't work either.  I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this.  When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue.  My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!!  I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue.  Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it.  Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

  • On iPhone 5c iOS 8.2, I go to settings, cellular, use cellular data for: Under "use cell data for are my apps but they are greyed out how can I ungrey them??

iOS 8.2 on iPhone 5c, goto settings, cellular, use cellular data for: all my apps under "use cellular data for" are greyed out. I've restart and hard reset. Looked thru all settings. Can someone help??

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, did you try to switch off Cellular Data, restart the phone and switch it back on again?

  • IPhone 4S/iOS 7.0.4/WiFi Grey Out Issues

My iPhone 4S (64GB memory/ATT) was working beautifully on iOS 5.1.1.  WiFi connected seamlessly with Access Points at home, work, etc.
Then I made the mistake of wirelessly updating to iOS 7.0.4.  Instantly the WiFi stopped working and the <Settings>, <WiFi> tab was greyed out and non-responsive.  Oddly the WiFi tab on the Control Panel was responsive, but did not actually activiate the WiFi chip or open a connection to the WiFi antenna.  Accordingly, there is no option to find or connect to a WiFi network.
Most other features appear to work, including the ATT cellular service and Bluetooth connection.  However, the iPhone is slow to respond to some apps,   For example, tapping <Settings> takes 5-6 seconds for a response whereas with iOS 5.1.1 the response was instantaneous.  Also a few apps (even after updating) and a couple of iOS pages now cause the iPhone to go blank for a few seconds or crash.
Sounded like either an iOS or firmware issue to me.
I followed all of the Apple and ATT suggestions, including:
-Confirming that the iPhone is not in Airplane mode.
-Turning the iPhone off, waiting, and restarting.
-Forcing a hard restart of the iPhone by holding the <Silent> and <Home> keys simultaneously for 7 seconds.
-Resetting the network settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset Network Settings>.
-Checking for a newer iOS (none).
At the suggestion of a couple of ATT support representatives, I tried even more drastic measures:
    -Resetting all settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Settings>.
-Resetting all content and settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Content and Settings>.
-Backing up, Restoring iOS and firmware, and Restoring applications and data using iTunes.
-Restoring iOS and firmware using iTunes, and then setting up as a new iPhone.
-Turning off iPhone, waiting while ATT pushed a new switch data pack to iPhone, and then restarting iPhone.
Actually I did all of these "fixes" at least twice with the same result:  still a greyed out and non-responsive <Settings> <WiFi> tab with no WiFi signal.
Apple and ATT's ultimate solution was predictable:   Buy a new 64 GB iPhone 5 for several hundred dollars (plus numerous proprietary cables) and forget the 47 GB of data, photos, etc. lost beta-testing their iOS and "fixes".
Any "fixes" that I missed or other suggestions?

ChrisJ4203, thanks very much for your input.  I don't mean to turn this post into an endless debate, but frankly I am still having a hard time believing that the WiFi died as a result of a hardware failure.
My logic might be flawed, but here it is:
While the iPhone 4S got very hot when wirelessly downloading and installing iOS 7.0.4 over the WiFi network, the WiFi chip and antenna had to be functional to complete the wireless iOS update.  Apple was very clear that iOS 7.0.4 is too large to download and install via cellular service.  Accordingly it would appear that any hardware failure had to occur in the few minutes between the download/installation of iOS 7.0.4 and its first use.  That window of opportunity is incredibly small in an otherwise flawless hardware performance.  I am not a big believer in long shot coincidences, so a WiFi hardware malfunction seems highly improbable to me, but not impossible.  A firmware/iOS conflict still seems more plausible to me.
I also don't read much into Apple's "out-of-warranty" replacement offer at $199.  AT&T tells me that anyone walking in off the street (with or without a hardware or iOS malfunction) would receive the same offer.
I appreciate that some iPhone 4S users did not experience any WiFi issues when they updated to iOS 7.0.4, but such difference could easily be explained if Apple used more than one WiFi chip and/or firmware in the iPhone 4S series.  Such an explanation would also account for iOS 7.0.4 (and 7.0.6) not recognizing the WiFi chip after the iOS update.
Still perplexed, but thanks again for your kind efforts to help.
Wonder if I can limp along long enough to spend my money on an Apple iPhone 6 ... but then again I don't want to be anyone's beta-tester.
I am tempted to switch to a Samsung Galaxy or some other smartphone as long as I will be buying new accessories, but frankly I don't want to waste my time learning a new OS or core apps.

  • I pad 2 updated to iOS 6.1.3 and now wifi is greyed out. Apple support engineers say replace but my warranty exited 09/12. Funny how it worked perfectly fine before the update.

I just updated to6.1.3 and now my wifi button is greyed out. Apple support said it is a hardware issue. Funny how it worked just fine on the previous iOS. Now apple wants me to buy a replace not because my warranty expired 09/12. Seems to me like ios6.1.3 was an update to sell more products. Tried all suggested fixes with no success. With all the noted issues with ios6 there may be another class action lawsuit coming. Apple tech senior advisor unwilling to help. First advisor told me just buy a new I pad. Second advisor wants me to pay for a replacement. Can someone explain to me how an apple approved software upgrade that damaged my i pad is classified as my fault. I've seen some shady selling techniques but this one takes the cake in my book. Anyone have the contact information to higher up executives in apple for me to speak with about my issues?

    Have you check the following?
Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings
Ensure that your device is using the latest software.
If your issue is still unresolved, perform a software restore in iTune

  • IPhone 4S wifi greyed out on iOS 7 - Apple's in-store response

    I was in the Apple Store on London two days ago to complain about my new IPhone 5s having wifi outages and a battery life of about 5 hours (of standby) when a woman came in and asked why her iPhone 4S has a greyed out wifi icon since the upgrade to iOS7. She was told her hardware had failed and that she should buy a new phone, or spend hundreds of pounds having it repaired by Apple. If only I was aware then as I am now that Apple are destroying iPhone 4 phones with their new software;
    http://www.nextiphonenews.com/2013/11/why-is-apple-inc-aapls-ios-7-update-destro ying-old-iphones/
I presume this is Apple's company policy to sell more units. Sadly I didn't intervene but I wish I knew now that it's a common problem and that Apple are deleting posts on here about it to cover up. This elderly woman's phone was 18months old, so even out of warranty it's with the scope of consumer law for a free replacement.
I hope posting this helps others out there who might be being told similar things.
...my 5s? Refund for me. It doesn't work at all. Worse than the iPhone 4 it replaces in every way.

Is there a technical support question in that conspiracy theory somewhere?
