IOS 7 calendar icon, IOS 7 calendar icon

Hello out there! Is there anything that we can do to change the appearance of the Calendar icon on the home screen? Also the font for the time display is too faint. The date needs to be bold or more contrast in the appearance for us baby boomers.

Hi Ginny.....I have been so bummed out with the new calendar app in ios7.   I liked the look and functionality of the older version ios6.  I was having alot of difficulting seeing the calendar clearly, and also moving around to different dates.  (I often go back one year to compare monthly activities).  I think I have found a satisfactory work around to the new interface.  I have downloaded an ipad app called Week Cal HD.  It cost 2.99 but for me it was worth a shot cause the new calendar wasn't cutting it.  Well I am delighted with the new app.  There is alot more definition to the screen (not as minimalist) and you can change calendar colors and text size quite easily in the settings for the app.  I am attaching an image from both the ios7 calendar and the new Week Cal HD app for comparison.  I will also include a screen shot of the icons next to each other.  Hope this helps.

  • No calendars updating (iOS 8)

Since I've loaded iOS 8, no calendars updating between my iPad mini, my iPhone 5C and my MacBook, however, I've understood updating between devices was something proposed by Apple.

    Hello there, swing78.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great troubleshooting steps for troubleshooting iCloud calendars on your iOS devices:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999
    Particularly for iOS devices:
    Troubleshooting on iOS devices
First, confirm that you've turned on iCloud Calendar by tapping Settings > iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then check that Calendars is turned on.
If you are having trouble with the Calendar app on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch) and iCloud Calendar, try these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved.
Make sure you've updated to iOS 5 or later. If your issue isn't resolved, try installing the latest version of iOSsupported by your device. For instructions on setting up iOS for iCloud, see iCloud Setup.
Make sure your iOS device is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com in Safari. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in your Calendar application. Learn how to troubleshoot your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Calendar requires port 443 access to iCloud to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
If recent changes don't appear, try to refresh your calendars:
In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the Calendars tab to load the Calendars list, then pull down on the list to refresh.
In iOS 6 or iOS 5, open Calendar and tap Calendars in the top-left corner to load the Calendars list. Then tap the Refresh button in the lower-left corner of the Calendars list window.
If you've recently made changes to your contacts' birthdays and are not seeing those changes reflected in your Birthdays Calendar, try to refresh your calendars. If you made the changes in the Contacts app on your Mac or at iCloud.com, it may take up to an hour for those changes to appear on your other devices.
If you add new events on your iOS device, but they do not update on iCloud.com or your other devices, confirm that you've added the event to an iCloud calendar:
In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the event to view the Event Details. Tap the calendar name to confirm that you've saved the event to an iCloud calendar.
In iOS 6 or iOS 5, open Calendar and tap the event to view the Event Details. Tap Edit > Calendar to confirm that you've saved the event to an iCloud calendar.
You may want to verify your default calendar settings. If you want to create new events in an iCloud calendar, set that calendar to be your default calendar. You can modify Default Calendar settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Default Calendar.
If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Calendar app:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Calendar preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.
Tap the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute before reopening the Calendar app.
If you're using iOS 6 or iOS 5, quit and restart the Calendar app:
    Press the Home button.
Double-click the Home button to open the multitasking menu.
Tap and hold the Calendar icon until it jiggles.
Tap the "X" to remove Calendar from the list.
Press the Home button to go back to your Home screen. Wait a minute before reopening the Calendar app.
Restart your iOS device: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears, then drag the slider. After the device turns off, turn it back on by pressing the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
Change the Sync settings for your calendars:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Under Calendars, tap Sync. If Sync is set to All Events, set it to a specific duration, such as Events 1 Month Back. If it's already set to a specific duration, set it to All Events.
Tap the Home button. Wait several minutes, then open Calendar and try to refresh your calendars again.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn off Calendar. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/calendar or on one or more of your computers. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.
Wait a few minutes before turning Calendar back on.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • I have an iPad mini, 16GB, running on the 7.1.2 iOS system, my App Store icon is no longer on my home screen and neither is my iTunes Store icon. They are listed in my settings but I can't access any unless through other games, or songs on iPad.

I Have an iPad mini operating on 7.1.2 iOS. My App Store icon as well as my iTunes Store icon are missing from my home scree. They are still listed under my settings, but I can't access them unless it's through an app that already exists. Where can I go to reinstall these?  I use the same Apple ID on my iPhone 5c as well and they are on the iPhone, but I don't know how or why they just disappeared from my iPad and want to know how to get them back without having to reset my iPad and lose what I have on it. Thanks, Karla

Thanks so much! My grandaughters played games on the iPad over Xmas and one of their moms said shed restricted their access! Guess they forgot to enable again. Thank you again! Karla

  • Google calendar and iOS 8 - no longer synchronizing

Updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 8 and suddenly my gmail calendar is no longer synchronizing on the phone.  I've already done the restore to factory settings because after the upgrade to iOS 8, my phone lumped a bunch more files into "other" which weren't there prior to the upgrade.  I restored as new and added all my email accounts again and calendar is turned on for my gmail account.
On my MBP, my calendar is set up sans the email, and it's still all there, synchronizing perfectly.  Can't figure out what's up with the phone or why it won't work.  I've also removed the email account, re-added (for a grand total of two times) and nada.  Zip.  Zilch.  Calendar won't sync and phone will not acknowledge the gmail calendar when adding an event.
Anyone else having this problem?  I've used my work calendar on this phone for 2+ years without issue.
    Thanks,

i realize this is a naive question, but i've never had problems with iPhones syncing before. i just gave up my 4s with iOS 5 and now have an iPhone 6, iOS 8. Everything seemed to be working well since i got the phone in late November, until a couple of days ago, and now i'm having the problem raised in this discussion and a couple of others.
Starting a couple of days ago, i found that when i entered a new event in the iPhone calendar, it did not sync with iCal, or iCloud.  I also found that my iCloud storage was full, and eventually figured out that that was because my phone had automatically backed itself up to iCloud twice, at 2.4G each, which used up most of my 5G iCloud storage.  ??  I never had this problem before. So i thought maybe that's why the data stopped syncing. i deleted one of the backups and turned off 'back up' in the iCloud settings. But no success.
Then i discovered that Contacts were still syncing--if i entered a new contact on the iPhone, it showed up in iClound/iCal.  So only Calendar was not syncing.
Another member of these forums suggested i make sure that iCloud was set as my default calendar in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendar.
in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Calendars>Default Calendars, there are two default calendar headings. One is iCloud, and under that heading are 8 sub calendars (Home, Finance, Pets, Family, etc). The second heading is my gmail address which is my Apple ID, and under the heading there is one option, which is my gmail username.  That is checked as my default calendar.  There is no way to select iCloud as my default calendar. The heading is not selectable. If i want to choose an iCloud default calendar, my only choices are to pick one of the 8 sub calendars--which seems crazy to me. Why would i want to pick Pets, for example, to use as my default calendar? What's the point of having all those sub calendars?  i never used them as calendars. i just used them to color code the different categories.
Anyway, i experimented with changing my default calendar from my gmail username under my gmail address heading, to one of the sub-calendars under the iCloud heading.  At random, i chose the Home "calendar."  Its color is blue.
None of my entries of the past couple of days showed up.
In January, i had entered three dental appointments.   They did not have a color code because i had just used the gmail username as my default calendar. They were a sort of salmon color, apparently the default color of this calendar.  I changed one of the dental appointments to Home and voila, it showed up in January where it was supposed to be.
But how crazy is this?   iCloud is forcing me to choose one of these 8 sub calendars as my default calendar, so that all of my events, regardless of their correct category, becomes part of the one category i have been forced to choose?  What's the point of having 8 different choices if only one of them can sync with iCloud?
At this point, i have tried one suggestion here, toggling my gmail account calendar off and back on.  It didn't work  I guess i will now do a reset but i am hesitating because i'm afraid i will lose data and settings and will have to put a lot more time into trying to get it set back up. It IS the main account i use and i hate to mess with it or delete it.  Why is this happening?   Everything was fine until a couple of days ago.
I went to the link posted by gosleg above.  That was a dead end because at that link, under "Select Calendars to sync to your iPhone," it only has one choice under My Calendars, and the email address (account) it shows is not my gmail address.  this has been a confusing problem i've struggled with with Google for a long time.  Before there was gmail, my google account used my then main email address, which is a roadrunner address, which i still have but don't use much.  So that is the only "calendar" that is listed under My Calendars at gosleg's link.  The check box is checked and it's grayed out.  i can't uncheck it.
So i don't know if resetting my iPhone will even help with this.
i only know that with my 4s with iOS 5, everything worked correctly, effortlessly, easy, and after i updated to the new phone, everything worked fine for the first 3 weeks or so, and then suddenly i started having calendar problems.
    Calendar problems (possibly related):
    1. entries of events in Calendar don't sync to iCloud, though contacts do
    2. entries in Calendar show Greenwich Mean Time, it will enter both local time zone AND gmt, two entries on one day. Despite being set to use my local time zone in settings, it wants to make sure i know what the GMT is for all my entries.
    3. iOS forces me to have alerts for Calendar entries when i don't want any. Even though in settings i have default alert time set to none, and because it's set to none, when i am entering an event, i scroll down to alerts and can see it says None, when i click add to add the even, and then open the event back up, it shows an alert for 30 minutes.  It does this every time.  i have to turn it off.
When asked Apple about this bug, i was told i just needed to reset my iPhone.  I don't think i have ever reset any iPhone i have and it scares me.  I don't want to change it to factory settings, i don't want to have to go through everything and re-enter information. Do i risk losing anything?

  • Calendar on iOS 7.1: Cannot Save Event - That event does not belong to that event store.

    Hi All,
I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1.
Yesterday, while updating a birthday in the iPhone iOS calendar app (default calendar = GMail), I noticed that the new 'List View' in the iOS 7.1 calendar (and only that view) showed an event called 'New Event' - which has a start date of 2014 and an end date of 2001. If I go into that event, it will show me no title and no location - only, as mentioned, funny start and end times. The 'Delete Event' button is completely missing. This 'New Event' does not come up in any other view.
Trying to input a ficticious title with a valid start and end time into that event slot leads to a message from the calendar app saying: "Cannot Save Event - That event does not belong to that event store." I have deleted all calendars and re-add them again via settings, with / without soft and hard reset and tried every possible combination. Yet, the event will not disappear.
The funny thing is that this 'New Event' will still showed up, even when my GMail, work and iCloud calendars were disabled. I have, however, subscribed to a GMail calendar for Australian holidays, and there is a built-in 'Birthday' calendar that pulls the dates from the contacts (I do not use that contact field, though).
Does anyone have a similar issue? Any suggestions how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance!
Edit: This 'New Event' does not seem to sync to any calendar other than on the iPhone - not to Gmail, not to work, not to iCloud.

Had same problem. Although the phone looks off   it actually isnt.  If you actually turn it off and then on again this problem will disappear. I think its a memory overload issue that is solved by clearing the memory by turning it off.
    Worked for me

  • Calendar on iOS 7

Is there a way to view an entire day at once on my calendar in iOS 7 without toggling up and down? What about viewing a week at a time without toggling between individual days? The new calendar is SO laborious, I will give up my iphone rather than buy the 5 if I can't work this out.
    Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by "toggling", scrolling maybe?  If you don't like the built in calendar, there are lots of others that will use the same data and sync the same way. Some that I like are Week Cal (which has a month view like iOS 6), Cal and Fantastical. There are lots more.
    Best of luck.

  • Calendar on iOS 7. Anyone noticed that when you enter text into the "notes section" of a day, the text disappears behind the keyboard rather than scrolling down to keep pace with text entry ? Looks like an 7 glitch to me ?

Doesn't do that for me. Try resetting the phone

  • IOS 4 breaks CalDAV calendars (events are missing)

I can successfully connect to my CalDAV server on my iPhone. The list of calendars, including delegates, show up in Calendar with their assigned calendar colors. Unfortunately, no events are visible. If I create an event on my iPhone, it is successfully published to my server and will also show up in iCal on my Mac and my web client. The event then disappears from my iPhone.
iCal has no problem with my calendar server and my iPhone synchronized with it just fine before iOS 4.
Google Calendar via CalDAV works fine.
    Calendar server: SOGo (http://www.sogo.nu/english.html)
    Phone: 3GS with iOS 4

The "All Events" hack no longer works for SOGo in iOS 4. I found the reference to making it work on 3.1.2:

  • Severe bug when syncing Google Calendars to iOS 6.x devices

Just posted this to Apple Support:
Error: Recurring events appear multiple (ie several hundred) times on the iOS 6 device until eventually all free memory of the device is eaten up and it stops working.
Device: Any iDevice with iOS 6.x (6.0 and 6.01). iOS 5.x not affected.
Software: iOS Calendar app synced with Google Calendar (either as part of a synced GMail account or individually as CardDAV account). Google Calendar (either GMail or Google Apps account) with subscribed Birthdays and Anniversaries Calendar (i.e. calendar showing birthdays and anniversaries from all contacts stored in Google Contacts). "Ordinary" calendar events, including repeating / annual events entered manually in the calendar, fo not cause the bug.
The bug *may* affect other types of calendars, but as I do not use any, I did not check (e.g. iCloud, Yahoo, etc.).
Symptom: Recurring events (from the Birthday Calendar only) appear multiple times in the iOS calendar app. They do not show the colored dot next to them indicating the calendar they belong to until the event is opened in iOS Calendar. Disabling the respective calendar in Mail&Calendar settings does not always remove these calendar entries. Eventually, calendar entries are multiplied so many times that all the iOS device's memory is eaten up (i.e. several gigabytes) until an Out of memory error message appears. Sometimes memory apparently gets so corrupted that the device cannot be synced with iTunes any more and has to be reset to factory state.
It is yet unclear what causes the multiplication of events, as often the events are shown only twice or a few times for extended periods of time and only days later they multiply to the hundreds. The actual calendar on google.com remains unaffected.
Remedy: None (other than stop syncing the calendar).
Bug Status: I was able to recreate the bug with different GMail and Google Apps accounts on my iPhone 3GS and iPhone 5 as well as several iPad mini's in the local Apple Store.
Extensively discussed the bug with Apple Care (Germany). Apple Care could not help as they cannot use non-Apple products, in particular have no access to GMail accounts and therefore cannot recreate the bug.

I have same issues on two different iPad 4's.
However for me it's the calendar showing duplicate entries from the "US holiday" calendar I'm subscribed too.  The odd thing about this bug, is the issue comes and goes if I disable/renable calendars randomly.
At the moment the only work around I have (and I'm not sure it's permanent) is I have had to leave the local Apple "Birthdays" calendar disabled.  When it's disabled it doesn't show dupicate "US holidays".
However when the issue is present.  Hitting refresh will create even more duplicates every time I click it!  I've had my ipad4 for three days, I was hoping it would take longer than this to find any major bugs.
Seems like they are not interpreting some data correctly and assuming it's new.  Also of note sometimes when I hit refresh some calndars wouldn't show.  Sometimes they would.
I hope they fix this.  It makes the calendar app pretty useless for me.

  • Appointments emailed from iCloud calendar in Outlook are not received on IOS device using exchange calendar.

I email tons of appointment invitations from my iCloud calendar in Outlook.  Appointments synch to IOS devices and are on icloud.com.  People receive invitations in Outlook and on IOS devices.  My husband runs IOS devices with exchange calendars.  He never receives the appointment invitations.  All of the appointment invitations are on his iCloud.com account.  Can he synch to both exchange and iCloud?  WIll this allow him to see the invitations I send that are hung up in iCloud?

Could be a corrupt item, this usually fixes it if that is the case
    Backup device then in Outlook
    highlight calendar
    goto file import/export
    choose export to file
    choose Persoanl folder pst, next
make sure calendar is highlighted and choose subfolders if you have them, next
save to desktop with a name you can remember, Finish
    Click ok on screen popup
Go to view, arange by events
    delete all entries.
close outlook and any word files, open outlook back up after 15 seconds.
    Then
    goto file import/export
import from another program or file, next
    choose Persoanl folder pst, next
    find the file and import
    Choose highlight calendar and Finish
Change view back to what you want and try again.

  • HT5029 IOS calendar to icloud calendar

Help me understand this better. If I subscribe to a calender on a IOS device the calendar will not show up on the icloud.com calendar? Is this correct? And if it is, is there any way so subscribe to a calendar on icloud.com so it will show up there too?

I still can not understand why Apple would not see this as an important piece of functionality.
I specifically subscribe to my sporting teams calendar and Facebook events calendar that change throughout the year, simply downloading the calendar to my icloud calendar leaves me with incorrect dates or missing events.
Pushing subscribed calendars is easily worked around by subscribing to the calendars on each IOS device, but now i am having to add events manually it simply means my subscribed calenders are redundent.
The only solution for me is to not use icloud.com for my calendar which is not a good solution.
Is there a way you can setup a calendar on icloud.com, subscribe to it in outlook and then sync that calendar with another calendar via a third party tool ? Obviously not a simple workaround but could potentially work.

  • IOS 7: How to view shared calendars using apple Calendar server

We use an OS X Server with Calendar server. On OS X you can see shared (delegated) calendars in Calendar by selecting the them in the preferences.
Using iOS 6 one could view shared CalDAV calendars by adding the same account more than once each with a different server URL. A fair bit more work but once configured it worked like a charm.
The Calendar app on iOS 7 still does not show delegated or shared calendars using the Calendar server from Apple. Because iOS 7 does not allow to add a CalDAV account more than once the iOS 6 workaround is no longer possible.
How can I view shared Calendars on iOS 7?
