IOS 7 colors and graphics are hard to read.

Just downloaded iOS 7. I already enlarged the email text which was tiny.  Can Safari be adjusted? The color scheme of the keyboard is way too pale. The darker  backgrounds were much easier to read. Does anyone know if this be be adjusted. Or did the designers assume customers are all teenagers with super vision?

  • When I change my TIFFs to jpegs, the color and tone are changing as well [was: Need help please!]

When I change my TIFFs to jpegs, the color and tone are changing as well, any ideas as to what the problem could be?

You are screwing up the colors by not using color management or at least not keeping an eye what color space/ profiel your source files use anbd what happens when Safe for Web converts them. As a start, perhaps refer to this, then work your way through the Internet wide and far to learn about color management:

  • Upscaled images look blurry, is there a way to sharpen them? In particular, zooming on pages with images that actually contain only text are hard to read.

I am zooming in on my homework in mastering physics. I am using a large screen and sitting far away. It uses a lot of images containing the text I need to read, but when the images are upscaled, they become very blurry and hard to read. A simple sharpen effect after it is resized would fix the problem. Is there a way to do this in firefox? like a command line switch or maybe something in about:config? Thanks

It may sound counter-intuitive, but could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved?

After Mavericks installation on my Macbook Pro mid-2012 (non-retina), the fonts appear slightly fuzzy, the graphics seems less crisp and the colors are just "off". This issue seems to be system wide but is much worse whilst using Safari for some reason. (Safari 7.0)
Please advise and thanks in advance for any and all help/suggestions!

    Hi,
There should be some problem with system settings. First of all, please check fonts size setting in Windows personalize.

  • How can I correct background color and graphics in Firefox?

For some reason some background color images and fonts do not appear in Firefox. Other browsers are mostly fine. I've tried most common fixes to no avail. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.
I've attached two screenshots. One is Firefox viewing Google. The other one may be relevant because I can't change the color of fonts in Word and other Office docs.
Anyway, I'm stumped on the Firefox side. The browser has been uninstalled, re installed, and refreshed.

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

  • Mouse Right Click Menus flash and are hard to read

I am using Windows 7, and on FF 14.0.1.
Basically, I am having the exact same issue as is described here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/753329?as=aaq
When I right click on menus, or when I go to the Firefox menu, the menu is bordered, but it is transparent. If I click on the location where a menu option is, that option is enabled (open new tab, etc). Or if I use the shortcut key, that also works.
    But it's a big pain.

Do you use a custom theme or any add-ons that customize menus?

  • Images and graphics are not showing in certain emails when using Firefox. They show in Google Chrome.

Certain emails from f.chtah.com(image info) are not showing graphic or image content. This happens in both gmail and hotmail. If opened in Google Chrome, they show up.
I had my computer wiped clean last week and everything was showing up ok again until this morning. The same emails are having the problem that was going on for the previous month.
I make sure that all updates are installed.

I figured it out. Clear your cookies. The company that hosts the images and the stylesheets updated their domain name- i figured this out in Chrome, it was showing a different URL for the css- http://ebm.cheetahmail.com
After all the cookies (Privacy Tab in preferences) and reloading the pages the images and stylesheets started working again.
I hope this helps other folks.

  • Legalities of color-and why are my RGB values inconsistent?

    Hi there,
I have a client who is trying to trademark their logo and the RGB values. I have sent them the files and corresponding RGB values, but when they check the files in their mac Digital Color Meter they come up with different values. On my own computer, the values are consistent in the DCM and Photoshop, although I opened it on another computer and found that while the values were still correct when I open the files in Photoshop, the DCM values were incorrect there too.
Does anybody have any history with this? Should I just tell them to ignore their DCM and that Photoshop is correct, or am I doing something wrong with profiles or something? It wouldn't be such a big deal but for the legal implications behind it...
    Thanks for any help!!
    Eli

I was referring to "Scene Referred" CCchart Lab reference numbers derived from measurements taken of this chart from a spectrophotometer. You'll note the black patch is at L20 according to X-rite. The white patch is quite easy to attain L96 without clipping during exposure of the CCchart to build the profile from using DNG Profile Editor.
What's not easy to control during exposure is the contrast ratio recorded by the camera. Adjusting the middle slider in Levels or the Contrast slider in ACR will show just how much contrast affects hue and saturation viewed on a display. Reality doesn't behave this way.
Contrast/Luminance ratio's are disregarded or barely adjusted for in the DNG CCchart Wizard to come up with proper hue/saturation levels for each of the 18 color patches. The contrast adjusts required to get all 24 patches to match exactly (especially black at L20) makes the image not look right or follow a normal human visual response or perception.
You can adjust contrast in the image after applying the new profile to get a reasonably correct look but quite a few of the 24 patches go off the charts according to the X-rite reference Lab numbers. The whole reason for going by the Lab numbers in profiling a device like a DSLR in the first place is to maintain consistency image to image by using measured results. As you can see this is not possible to achieve in a photograph except maybe in a controlled studio environment, but it does work when trying to match single spot colors that aren't influenced by the surround effect that affects human perception inherent in a photographed scene. A pleasing photograph is not about accurate numbers.
A spectrophotometer is a static device that only reads and measures color wave lengths from color patches and converts them to Lab numbers. It's not a constantly adjusting device like our eyes which adapts to hue, saturation, color temp and contrast levels in any given scene.
I'm going to post three images of a CCchart exposed under a high noon sun that I used to build two different DNG profiles. The first is using ACR default DNG converted source image and doing a straight dual illuminant table profile according to instructions. They're screenshots that include Apple's DCM to show how the black patch changes to accommodate exact Lab numbers as opposed to achieving a pleasing look. You'll note the more the image is made to "pop" the less accurate the Lab readouts and appearance.
