IOS 7 draining iPhone battery

Is anyone else having difficulty since the new update. It is really draining my battery very quickly. The new colors are making it harder to see the icons.

Can't do anything about the icons, I don't think they look all that bad. But the battery issue will go away in time. I have had so many battery issues on my ipad mini with a new update. http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/19/ios-7-battery-life-fix/
Use that for a fix, after that just use your idevices. It will get better. 6.1.2 after I updated to that my battery was so bad. I'm still on 6.1.2 because of every update Apple releases it for some weird reason messes with our battery's. now I get 14 hours from my ipad min, it was 8-9. But after using it and charing it, it got better. But I have a lot of stuff disabled. I use safari, games and messages.
Sorry but I have to say this, everyone has seen ios 7 and the way it looks and operates. Correct? Why did you update if you didn't like how it looks? The UI is nothing like Android! If you don't like the new look of Apples ios....sell it!! Get a different phone! Or tablet! Stop crying about the way it looks! Apple thought this was the way people wanted it. You people make me sick! Your never happy with Apple. Apple did this wrong! Apple did that wrong! It's Android! It's Windows! Just shut mm  up! I'm deciding if I want to download it, but people like you have to hurry up and get it, and show your friends, so someone else doesn't like it so you don't like it. I'm waiting because I'm smarter. I don't need it right now because ios 6.1.2 is doing just fine. It's your fault! Not Apples!

  • IOS 6 drains my battery like IOS 5

I have an iPhone 4S and just like when IOS 5 came out, any notifications that appear on my phone, if I don't unlock my phone (swipe the bottom), to clear out the notifications, they end up draining my battery!  Same problem when IOS 5 came out and APPLE had to release an enhancement updgarde to fix this!
I only have Email and Facebook notifications turned on and I make sure to clear out any opened apps. I didn't have have this problem with IOS 5.1.1.  As soon as IOS 6 came out, these problems occured, just like when IOS 5 first came out.
I used my phone 4x yesterday (2 IM's and 2 short calls) and I started with 100% battery and by 5pm, it was down to 18%.
2 nights ago, I went to bed with a 38% battery and when I woke up, my battery was at 0% as my phone shut itself down.
I have also tried doing a hard reset.
Anyone else having this issue?  Any word on when an enhancement upgrade will be available to fix this issue?

    Brad,
I truly believe the issue is the IOS 6 software upgrade.
I, recently, used to work for Apple (1.5 yrs) and have tried everything that there is to do with remedying this issue.
As mentioned in my initial post, my phone did not have these issues until after installing IOS 6, which coincidentally, is having the same issue as we all had when IOS 5 was released.

  • Faulty UK USB Power Brick/Wall Charger Drains iPhone Battery

I'm writing this post more from an informative perspective, rather than from a question seeking a response.
I have a genuine Apple UK USB wall charger which is at least 2 years old - it either came with my current iPhone 5 or old iPhone 4 from 4 years ago (both look identical).
Recently on charging my phone overnight, I've woken up (late - as the alarm consequently didn't work) to find that the power had drained from my phone rather than the expected charge happening. Having an old phone, I assumed it was the fault of the phone and booked it in for a genius bar visit. Being annoyed about the 1 week+ delay for the next genius bar appointment, I purchased a new iPhone to use temporarily for a week which would then be returned for a full refund on receipt of a replacement for mine.
On testing out the brand new iPhone with the charger, it appears that the same happens:
On plugging in the new phone to the charger once it has been fully charged (100%), within 5 minutes the charge in the phone has become 97%.
I'm guessing it is quite unusual for a USB brick to fail in this way - to actually drain the phone of charge?

I have the dock connector option for my factory stereo as well and am also seeing it drain the iPhone battery. What's odd is that it used to charge just fine.
Initially the iPhone wouldn't route audio through the dock connector in my vehicle. It would see that it was plugged in and gave the Airplane Mode prompt, but would only play audio from its internal speaker. It did, however, charge as expected. Then the iPhone software update 1.0.1 came out which solved the audio issue and allowed me to get the audio to my deck properly. I can't say for sure if it was still charging the iPhone at that point, but it definitely wasn't /draining/ it. Then, right around the time of the 1.0.2 update I started to notice significant drops in battery power when unplugging it after a drive to or from work (usually around 25 minutes). The audio still works fine, but the battery seems to drop at least 15-20% over that drive, whether I have any music playing or just have the iPhone idle but plugged in.
So, software problem, maybe? I have a hard time believing something suggendly changed with the dock connector in my vehicle...

  • IOS 7 draining my battery

I upgraded last night, and it's draining the crap out of my battery!! I disabled all the features they said to disable in order to extend battery life, but to no avail. I can literally see the battery life go down in front of my eyes. Mind you, I was really satisfied with the iPhone 5 (Verizon) battery life when I was still operating on the iOS 6, but this new update is killing me. Anyone know if it my battery life will return to normal, once everything settles down, or am I stuck charging my phone every hour?

During the first 24 hours it was the same for me. Then I noted that Bluetooth was activated... Since I turned it off my battery has the same operational time as previously. But of course I charge my phone when it's very low each 36 hours.

  • Exchange Active Sync Draining iPhone Battery Quickly.  Help?

Exchange Active Sync seems to drain battery on both Iphone 4 iOS4 and iOS5 software platforms.  I have 3 users that this is happening to.  Users are on both AT&T and Verizon networks. Exchange is 2003 and the version is 6.5.7638.1.  I’ve tried rebooting the phones (soft and hard resets), redoing push (Deleting the account and re-adding it), and restoring as a new iPhone (as a new iPhone not from backup) with no success.  When you are in the mail account you just see the account trying to sync constantly, the battery drops like a rock, and the battery gets hotter than usual.  This only seems to happen to users after they go away for a weekend trip or leave the geographical area where they live.   I’ve even updated roaming capabilities on the phones.  These are not the only users I have.  Myself for example, I have exchange set to push, I’m on the Verizon network, and I have no problems.  Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

I've been looking into this for about a year off and on. More recently it seems to be iPads/iPhones that are the worst. Even the latest iOS 5.x. It does seem to be people who travel a lot and/or jump on/off wireless a lot.
Deleting the device partnership does at least for a short time, resolve it in most cases.
I have a little script I run against the logs to show top user syncs. Basically, they do sync constantly all day and night up to 80,000+ hits per day on the ActiveSync frontend server (Exchange 2003), which is about every second or two. I know of a couple of people who got new phones because there battery was dying like crazy. It was just the sync problem killing them.
Anyone else have any info regarding WHEN this starts happening for a device?
It also happens with Android and Windows phones. It may be worse on iDevices for us because a lot of the people traveling have iPhones and/or iPads.

  • IPhone 5s IOS 8.1.1 battery drain using mail

Problem: battery drain is unacceptably high with -1% per five minutes
Description: after upgrading from IOS 7 to 8 the battery drain on my iPhone 5s (32GB) has hugely increased. Several tips on the internet have been tried from turning off several services to reinstalling the IOS none with no improvement. After reinstallation the drain was acceptable only to result in again a -1% drain per five minutes after a week.
Expected: using IOS 7 I could easily use the iPhone throughout the whole day with -1% per fifteen minutes. After installing an improved IOS one would expect similar or lower battery drain
Tests: as said, severals tips found on the internet have been tested none with any improvement. Deleting all accounts under "Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars" proved to be the only solution for this problem (a non-functional solution I must add since I'm using this iPhone for communication...). Even keeping the iCloud account but disabling all iCloud services did not improve the situation, only a real account deletion worked.
Question: do you know how to get battery drain back to -1% per fifteen minutes whilst maintaining my iCloud and Exchange account using IOS 8.1.1 on an iPhone 5s (32GB)?
    Kind regards,
    Ronald

Since upgrading my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1, my battery has not been the same. I was able to get 9-10 hours of usage before and am lucky to get 6-7 hours. AppleCare thought that was on the low side and told me to visit my local Apple Store for a thorough diagnostic testing of the battery. My appointment is tomorrow. Will report back.

  • IPhone 4S heats up and quickly drains out battery after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2

Last Sunday i.e. on 14-Dec-2014 i upgraded my iPhone 4S (WiFI + 3G, 64GB) to iOS 8.1.2. Since then my iPhone's battery has started to drain out abnormally fast (it doesn't even last an hour after charging it fully to 100%) and the phone even heats up simultaneously. When checked under Settings> Usage> Battery Usage, i found the app-wise usage of battery like this: Phone (Audio) 36%, WhatsApp-24%, Home & Lock Scree-17%, Settings-7%, Messages-5%, Mail-4%, TOI-2%, Conatact-2%, and rest few apps 1% each. Prior to upgrading the iOS to 8.1.2, the battery life of my iPhone was normal: i just had to recharge once in 24 hours with normal usage of the phone. Could anybody help me to fix the problem? Thanks in advance. -BBS Ijam, GTK/SKM/171214

I think iPhone 4s is oLd now we need to update our as I will have to change my battery from repair center maybe this will solve the problem the new iOS are heavy for our phones.
*** I also have extra internal battery cover for my iPhone. I can't go out without that cover because my iPhone battery drain so fast from 100% it will be maybe 60 % so fast that is so annoying.
Long story short my iPhone is screwed up I think I don't trust my iPhone battery anymore.

  • IOS 7.1 battery drain iPhone 4S

While the performance increase on iOS 7.1 appears genuine - I'm experiencing serious battery drain on my iPhone 4S (64GB model).
I have parallax disabled as well as background app refresh disabled.
I updated from iOS 7.06 to 7.1 via USB cable attached to my Mac Pro and the latest version of iTunes running on Mavericks latest version as well. I had closed all apps and done a reset before connecting to iTunes where I did a backup and sync prior to updating.
The drain I'm experiencing is during usage, not standby as much. When I use my standard apps (mail, safari, txt, etc.) I'm seeing the battery drain about 1% per minute. I'm not using GPS or bluetooth.
I followed one suggested on Apple Forums to drain battery to about 40%, then do another hard reset. Doesn't seem to help.
Anyone know of similar issues or what to try next?
Are there any tools available to see what apps might be running in the background that are causing the processor to drain the battery so fast?  And yes I am now closing all apps after using them to try anything to save battery.
Very tempted to find a way to downgrade to 7.06...

Thought I'd reply to this seen as no one else has, I am also experiencing very similar problems with my 4s and by the looks of it is it's across all handsets. I've never had any battery issues with my iPhone even 7.0.6 was fine, but since updating to 7.1 the battery is ticking down very fast. I fully charged in the morning and left it in my locker all day at work when I got my hands on it it's gone down to 52% just on its own!!
I really hope they sort this out fast the irony is 7.1 was supposed to help battery life!
