Einrichtung eines E-Mail-Accounts von T-Online mit dem Apple iOS 7 E-Mail-Client
Ich hatte große Schwierigkeiten bei der Einrichtung von T-Online-E-Mail-Accounts in Apple iOS 7 auf allen Gerätetypen (iPhone 5s, iPad, iPod Touch), die bei iOS 6 nicht auftraten bzw. treten. Die Hotlines der Telekom und Apples konnten mir nicht weiterhelfen. Die Lösung meines Problems führe ich hier auf.
Grundsätzlich gilt: Seit 01.03.2014 ist das T-Online-Postfach als IMAP-Postfach mit SSL-Verschlüsselung einzurichten.
Achtung! Das Passwort für den Zugang zum Telekom-Kundencenter und zum Telekom-E-Mail-Center ist nicht das E-Mail-Passwort. Dieses ist im E-Mail-Center gesondert für die Benutzung externer E-Mail-Clients - wie Outlook oder dem Apple E-Mail-Programm im iOS 7 - einzurichten. T-Online gibt als Einstellung für die Server an:
Posteingangsserver: secureimap.t-online.de, Port: 993, Sicherheit: SSL/TLS,
Postausgangsserver: securesmtp.t-online.de, Port: 465, Sicherheit: SSL/TLS.
Diese Einstellung funktioniert bei mir nicht! Stattdessen funktioniert die auch automatisch gefundene Einstellung:
Posteingangsserver: secureimap.t-online.de, Port: 993, Sicherheit: SSL/TLS,
Postausgangsserver: securesmtp.t-online.de, Port: 587, Sicherheit: SSL/TLS.
Im Apple-iOS kann man nur SSL auf "ein" stellen, was für die Einrichtung auch reicht.
Im Übrigen sollte man bei neu eingerichteten E-Mail-Accounts im E-Mail-Center die Einstellung für die Speicherdauer der E-Mails von den voreingestellten 90 Tagen auf "nie löschen" stellen.

I am trying to set up my mail account for Deutsche telekom (t-online.de). But when I enter all the data my ipod tells me that the mails cannot be received: user name or password for secureimap.t-online.de is not correct". An I don't know why... Any ideas?

I reply to this question even it is over one year old since I had the same problems recently. I described how I solved it in German in this article:ios 7 E-Mail-Client mit T-Online. In short the trick is to set an extra password for external email clients (like Outlook or the Apple email client) in the menue of the email center ("E-Mail-Center"), which has its own password - the same as that for the customer center ("Kundencenter").
Set the SSL-decryption setting to "on". Use the following ports:
inbox server: secureimap.t-online.de, Port: 993, safety: SSL/TLS,
outbox server: securesmtp.t-online.de, Port: 587, safety: SSL/TLS.
These settings should be found automatically during the setup of the email account.
And I recommend to set the storage time for emails in the email center from 90 days (default) to "never delete".

Since iOS 8.1.2 upgrade problems with yahoo mail via apple mail client

Since the upgrade to iOS 8.1.2 on my iPad I'm having issues with my yahoo mail account when using the apple mail client. I can send emails but cannot receive them. When I use the yahoo mail app there is no problem Sending or receiving. I have deleted and reinstalled my yahoo email account from the apple mail client. I have checked the wifi by changing between wifi hotspots. I have also restarted the iPad as well as resetting. None of these actions have resolved the problem. would appreciate any assistance that can be provided.

Do you use two-step verification for your Yahoo! account? If yes, you need an app-specific password.
If no, make sure your password is already entered in the "Outgoing Mail Server" in the Settings app.

Local folders in IOS mail client - please.....

I have a mail account that allows me to use either POP3 or IMAP
The mail provider junks my mail after 30 days, so I need to keep local copies on my iPad
Snag is, if I use IMAP to connect to the mail server, although I can create folders, these are NOT local and are still subject to the 30 day purge
If I use POP3 I do get local copies of my mail, so they are protected from the 30 day purge, BUT I cannot create local folders so everything has to stay in my INBOX
These seem to be the only choices I have as I don't see a way to create local folders for a POP3 mail account - and neither do any 3rd party mail apps I have looked at provide the same functionality

We've had zoho mail accounts lying around for some time, and I can define one of these as an IMAP mail account from iPad
I can create folders at will on the zoho account AND IOS mail client allows me to move mail messaged BETWEEN mail accounts, so she can keep her existing mail account but move things she wants to keep easily to zoho
Not ideal, but workable

Probleme mit Mail Client in PSE 9

Hallo Zusammen,
ich habe ein Problem mit dem Auswählen des Mail Client's in PSE 9. Wenn ich unter "Weitergeben/E-Mail-Client" den Auswahlbutton öffne, dann erscheint bei mir nur der Adobe-E-Mail-Service. Normalerweise müsste auch Thunderbird erscheinen der bei mir als Standart-Client installiert ist. Als ich versuchte Bilder über die "Weitergabe" per E-Mail zu verschicken, bekam ich eine Fehlermeldung das ein Problem mit der Firewall vorliegen könnte oder die Verbindung zum Internet unterbrochen ist. Beides war nicht der Fall. Wenn ich versuche Bilder über den Kodak Printservice zu senden kommt die selbe Meldung.
Mein Betriebssystem ist Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.
Wenn ich die Systemabfrage mit PSE im Hilfe Menü mache bekomme ich diese Meldung:
Betriebssystem: 2000
Betriebssystem-Version: 6.1
Systemarchitektur: Intel Prozessor Familie:6 Modell:7 Stepping:10 mit MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP
Ich hoffe es hat jemand eine Lösung

Hallo Michael,
auch bei mir funktioniert es nicht mit Thunderbird. Ich habe allerdings auch noch PSE 6.
Ich finde das auch nicht so toll. Besser gesagt, es k.... mich an.
Wollte eben mal sehen, ob es dafür eine Lösung gibt. So bin ich auf Deinen Beitrag gestoßen.
Es hat auch nicht mit dem Adobe-Dienst geklappt bei ausgeschalteter Firewall?
Wenn das Problem überhaupt für Dich noch relevant ist, würde ich Dir gerne helfen.

All mail account are IMA. iCloud is set to push, business mail is set to fetch every 15 minutes.

They ignored us then and when MobileMe became iCloud they ignored us again, and just carried on with a system that will not update the e-mail read status across all devices
That's how it works, and like you 1000's of loyal Apple users cant believe it either but there you go

Unable to acces Email (web, online, mail client) password ok

Since this morning I had been unable to acces my emails from my Icloud account.
From Apple mail client I get the error message: "The iCloud IMAP server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password"
However I am able to log on Icloud from any browser (safari, firefox, chrome) and acces calendar, contacts, etc. However I get an error message when I want to access emails and get the "option" to send an error report to apple (thing that I did several times).
Changed my Apple Id password, just in case with no success.
Also I called support where they told me it could be a "server issue" and now the case shows "closed" when I check it.
Does any one had any idea what could be happening?

I called Applecare, and open case # 331263318 however since seems to be a "server issue" they cannot help and "closed the case". Aparently I have to wait... (till when is the question).

Can't setup POP3 E-mail on mail client on my MacBook Pro

So this problem is getting really out of hand and I'm not sure what options I have left. So here are the details:
I'm trying to set up my work e-mail (the site host is Network Solutions) with Mail. There seem to be no problems with the online client. I can sign on without any troubles so password and username are correct. I'm using Mail 4.4. I first enter my name, e-mail, and password with no problems. Then for the incoming mail server I do the same, choosing POP, and I get the following message:
"The POP server "mail.companysite.com" (with the proper domain inserted) is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages."
i get this regardless if i put my username as just username or [email protected] and my network connection is fine as my other e-mail accounts (2 gmails set up as IMAP) work just fine. I've tried using different ports other than the default 110. Still the same problem.
An interesting little quirk is that at one point it actually did work, then suddenly without any changes to anything that I could tell, it stopped. When it was working, I had it set up on my iPod touch and even when it stopped on my computer it kept working on my iPod. But that also didn't last as now I can no longer connect or even set it up.
But wait! There's more. I've tried all the different debugging methods I can come up with, including trying to set it up on different e-mail clients, Entourage and Thunderbird, with the same result. Then I eventually tried it on another computer, on a PC running Windows XP, and wouldn't you know it, it set up without a hitch! so this means that my account is properly set up for this. Furthermore, I know it is possible to use an e-mail client on a mac with this domain as one of my coworkers has set it up on Entourage and Mail as well as his iPhone. I have no firewall settings currently on so nothing should be blocking and i've tried it using several different internet connections in different countries (seemingly then it's not a router or modem issue)
Anyone have any ideas? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if there's any more info you would need me to provide.

Create a New User Account, and as that New User try to set up this one account -- as it is POP, set to leave messages on the server after download. If not familiar with setting up a New User Account, see:

This will be a useful test, and is not meant to suggest a permanent switch to the New User Account, but rather a test of the Mail application outside of your normal User Account.
Also in System Preferences/Networks click on Advanced, then Proxies and make sure no proxy selections have been checked.

New Folders in iOS 5.1 Mail

Mail appears to have only 3 mailboxes: Inbox, Sent, and Trash. The iOS 5.1 manual says that to add new mailboxes, "Go to the mailboxes list, tap Edit, then tap New Mailbox." However, there is no Edit button on that list to tap. Others have said that either you cannot set up new mailboxes in iOS, or that it has something to do with the mail server for the account being used. Does anyone have more clarity on this matter? Thanks...

Responding to self: Researching this further, I can see that the server-side functionality of the iMap protocol makes it the obvious choice for the iCloud. (Including the ability to create folders on the server, having accounts accessed simultaneously by multiple users, selectively showing parts of a mime message, etc.) And whatever works best with iCloud and .me accounts must inevitably drive iOS development.
I'm guessing that recreating any substantial client-side folder functionality would weigh-down the Mail client in iOS substantially, which would go against a 'fundamental tenet of design,' i.e. the iPad being an i/o device in a cloud-computing universe.
Sorry James if that's what you were referring to. Question then becomes whether or not to convert all of ones email accounts to IMAP, fully embracing the cloud, or just use the iPad for minimal, temporary surf & respond emailing.

Yahoo! Mail glitches with Lion mail client and Address Book app

I had really been looking forward to using my Yahoo! mail account in the Lion mail client but now that it is here and I have set it up and used it for a few days I am noticing the following issues:
New mail is not always received or is received late. Yahoo! Webmail portal shows new items but these sometimes do not appear in Lion mail client even after a manual 'get mail' check.
Mail marked as read in Yahoo! Webmail portal or in mail clients in iOS devices such as iPhone or iPad is not marked as read in Lion mail client, however the reverse does work (i.e. mail marked as read in Lion mail client does mark the message as read in webmail and in clients on iOS devices).
Yahoo! Aliases are not supported. Yes, you can add aliases by inserting the other email addresses in the 'Email Address' field of the account settings, but you cannot add more than one display name.
I have also found that if you turn on Yahoo! contacts via the tick-box in the new 'Mail, Contacts & Calendars' pref pane in System Preferences that I end up with random duplicated contacts. These duplicates are not seen on iOS devices, just in the Address Book app. If you delete a duplicate contact, it deletes the contact altogether. However, I have found that if you keep contacts unticked in the pref pane and add your Yahoo! account the old-fashioned way (i.e. via the Address Book app's own preferences) then the contacts sync through perfectly with no duplications.
I would be interested to know if anybody else is experiencing these issues. It may be worth noting that mine is not a @yahoo.com address but @xtra.co.nz which belongs to my ISP here in New Zealand, but the mail is managed by Yahoo!. The account works perfectly as a Yahoo! account on iOS devices and does appear to be working in Lion, except for these small glitches but I don't imagine these are specific to @xtra.co.nz addresses.

i've had the same experience here.
essentially it seems like lion mail.app just takes an incredibly long time to pickup new changes from the IMAP server at yahoo.
ios and webmail are obviously much quicker.
if it is working on ios, why does is it so delayed in mail?
any solutions out there?

Básically the answer I'm trying to get is how to manage for autoconfigure Apple Mail and iOS Mail automatically with a not "so known" email provider such us Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, like can be Sarenet (www.sarenet.es). I mean which kind of info should an XML or DNS SRV record contain in order to achieve this goal?. My answer requirement is far more specific that yours. Anyway thanks a lot as said before .

Mail client uninstalled

I seem to have lost my mail client. Its not in the applications and I do not have a CD or DVD. Is there some place I can get it from online?

You can get Snow Leopard here, Apple will send the install DVD. Do a back up before the install, Power up push in the disk after pushing the ower button holding the C key, follow the prompts.

I can't access folders in my e-mail client with FF4 or FF5

My e-mail client is eircom.net. Up to Firefox v4 I neevr had a problem using this service. The service also works fine in IE. However, with FF4 and, now, FF5 it is impossible to access folders within the e-mail database. This means that, if I have e-mails showing in the Spam folder or more than 20 previously unseen in my inbox I am unable to access them except by using IE. This is disappointing, to say the least!

Have you tried clicking on the lock to see it it will then ask for a passwored. Otherwise, try reblooting.
