IOS 7 has killed my Iphone 5

Hi,
To say that I am annoyed is an understatement. I installed IOS 7 on Wednesday evening and was quite pleased with the new look and features etc.
I charged my phone as normal over night and carried on with my day as normal yesterday. By 12 o'clock I had 48% of battery without my phone being used at all! Got home from
Work and looked online to see how I could improve the battery life and switched off pretty much everything that I can to stop things always running in the background. Charged my phone last night again as normal for today. I got up at 9 this morning and again I haven't  used my phone. It's now 12:32 and my battery is at 65% without being used and with the brightness set just under half way!!! This is a joke. My phone has now become useless and I am on the super red contract paying €75 a month. I am so upset. My phone was fine before this upgrade. I am in serious need of some help. I've only been with vodafone for 5 months and I'm really not happy at the thought of continuing to pay €75 a month for another year and a half with this issue.

It might be an idea to do a reset on your phone close all apps and hold the home and power button untill the apple symbol appears you wont loose any data. Also power cyle the phone down to when it shuts off and charge over night if you can. If not you could try a reinstall via iTunes of set the phone up as new but you will have to set it all up manually. My iPhone 5 was charged last night to 100% and 6 hours later it was still at 100% it uses battery faster when in use but standbye time is still good, right now I have 41 minues of useage 18 hours standbye and i'm, on 93% and thats with wifi on all the time and taking some pics this morning.

Recently I erased an iPhone 3 so that it could be passed on and used by someone else, using the erase all content and settings feature. This has killed my iPhone and it is now stuck on the Apple logo. I have tried a restore in iTunes but recovery fails. This is not a jailbroken iPhone. Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

If you haven't already tried, see if you can force it into recovery mode to restore it:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.  If that doesn't work, the last thing you can try is to put it in DFU mode to restore it: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2648467?threadID=2648467&tstart=0.

  • HELP my husband has killed my iPhone.

My husband decided to update my iphone 3G this morning and killed it.  It will not turn on.  He has had it on the charger for a few hours and it is very, very hot.  After reading some posts, I tried to go down the itunes recovery track but I can't get itunes to see the phone.  I would love a magic button to fix everything.  Can anyone help please?

Try holding both the home button and the power button for about 15-20 seconds and the apple logo should appear.
If it doesn't bring it into and Apple store for evaluation.
    Good Luck.

There is no issue with iOS7.
The issue is with specific iPhones.
I know multiple people with iPhones that have all upgraded to the latest iOS and none of them have experienced issues with the update across multiple models.  Even with the postings here, if you search through them, some go back as far as iOS5 and these Wi-Fi/bluetooth issues occurring which clearly shows it is not the iOS update that is killing the hardware.  The issue is with hardware on specific devices that is boarderline working and an update is causing the hardware to fail.
Apple offers an Out of Warranty replacement for a reasonable cost or the user can choose to replace the device with a different one (newer iPhone or some other device).
Regardless, ranting here is pointless and against the terms of use.

  • How do I get out of an iphone restoration loop, itunes keeps saying it has detected an iphone in restore mode and that it must check for software updates and reinstall the ios, it completes this process and then says: detected iphone in restore mode etc.,

Background: my iphone 3gs was running wonderfully - no issues at all, as normal.
I let the power run down to critical and got the empty battery screen - plugged it in and when it had enuf juice it displayed the cord-to-itunes-of-death-screen...
I had just backed up the previous to icloud so no worries... I just plugged in and thought ok this will just take a second...it completed the restore then said with a glazed amnesic font "Itunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode, and has never seen or restored this iphone ever before, since this is a stranger iphone, itunes does not trust it and must call the ipolice to check for contraban in its orifices and cavities, you must restore"... kidding of course... but
OMG at home I did the whole restore process no less than 20 times while optimizing and accounting for different variables each time (restoring on a new system with a fresh OS, trying to restore and a mac, restoring then restarting empty cache, restart unistall itunes then restore restart restore, installing an older version of Itunes and restoring. going back to Vista and restoring), and every single time it would complete the check, the update/check, the ios reinstall, and then whatever else and say "complete"... and then no icon menu would appear for the device in itunes so unplug the phone and replug and get the whole "Itunes must render restore aid" message. SO I went to the genuis bar at my local iBoutique thrice - each time the bewildered but very courteous and knowledgable genuis wanted to keep trying ... since I had been on this treadmill for about two weeks I decided each time to respect my fellow appletonians and not suck up genius time... but I really want my old 3gs back... why - I like that it amazes the youth who occaisonal are puzzled by seeing something apple that they don't recognize and in wonder and amazement at its age they learn that even though its no longer invited to iOS family gatherings that it still can call home and ask why Apple waited so long when it was a kid to give it copy-paste ability like all the other kids, then ask for money for the shrink bill.. ... . . ..

Soooooooo.... You obviously need to restore the device
It seems that you have tried several options to restore it. What I would do is leave it plugged it and hold down the Home button AND the Power button together till you see the white apple appears. Then let go of the Power button but continue to hold the home button. You should get the message in iTunes again saying that the iPhone needs to be restored. Hit OK then RESTORE.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Someone has stolen my iPhone 4S with ios 7. Please help me

    Hi everyone,
My iPhone 4S with ios 7 with a passcode was taken. I didn't back up my data on to iCloud on itunes. Will the person who has taken my iPhone be able to break in and have access to my details on my iPhone 4S that has been taken. Is there a way to erase my data. This is my first time that I''ve lost my iPhone 4S. I didn't install Find my iPhone on to my 4S, Is there another way that I could track it down?
    Thank you.

Find my iPhone feature is built into the iPhone.   You just needed to turn it on from Settings.
If you did not do this, then you cannot track it or wipe it.
    Sorry.

    Hi s.kouris,
I'm afraid that unless you are able to contact the previous owner and have him wipe the device, or provide you with his Apple ID password so you can delete the iCloud account, you are out of luck.
With iOS 7, an Activiation Lock was added to deter thieves. This lock prevents anyone but the owner of the device from deleting the iCloud account and restoring the device:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5818
Unless you are able to reach the original owner and get the device wiped or the iCloud account deleted, you are stuck with a brick.
    Sorry,

  • My iPhone has killed four pairs of earbuds

Four times now since I got my iPhone in mid-July, my earbuds have gone bad on one side. The first two times it sounded like a tweeter (i.e. high pitched frequencies sounded "crunchy"), then a woofer (low sounds sounded crunchy), and now it is sort of a weird buzz, which is different than either of the past two.
Every time so far I just brought them in to the apple store and they gave me a new pair without problems. This last pair lasted less than a week.
I definitely do not listen to music at loud volumes -- I am not into that at all. I have no idea what is going on. It seems crazy to me that the phone/earbud combination would be designed in a way that the phone could even put out enough volume to damage the earbuds (if that is in fact the cause).
Anyway, has this been happening to anybody else? Could there conceivably be something wrong with the phone itself, or is this par for the course?

I haven't experienced the same - still using the original set included with my iPhone purchased on 6/29 which work great and based on the number of posts here regarding this which have been few and far between, I don't believe this is par for the course and shouldn't be nor do I believe your iPhone has killed anything. I think you've experienced some bad luck getting a bad earbud set one after the other which doesn't seem likely and should not happen but certainly possible.
Keep making Apple replace your earbuds until you get a set that doesn't fail and/or try a loaner iPhone (should be at no charge in this situation) with a new earbud set. If this works without issue with the loaner iPhone for a week or so and then fail just after being used with your iPhone, this will indicate the problem is with your iPhone and will be repaired or replaced under warranty.

    Has iOS8 destroyed my phone?

    Hi vijay294,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you received a restore error while attempting to update to iOS 8 and now you see the Connect to iTunes graphic on your display. In this situation, I would recommend using recovery mode to restore your iPhone. Please use the instructions located in the attached article to complete this process.
