IOS 7 iCal create event month view

I updated my iPad mini and iPhone 4S to iOS 7.  I love iCal, but can't figure out how to create a new event in month view.  I try double tapping on the date as I did previously but nothing happens.  What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried tapping and holding on any date? I get a small blue bar with the words "New Event" in it; I can drag the event to any visible date if I pressed the wrong one, and when I remove my finger I get a blank new event on that date. It starts as an all-day event, but you can easily change that.

  • How can I print multiple lines in my All Day Events (month view)?

Does anyone know if there is anyway to print multiple lines for all day events? When I print my iCal from a monthly view, my all day events (positioned as a header) only print the words that can fit into the daily box, instead of going into multiple lines and displaying the whole text.
    For example:
Los Angeles County Fair, Don't forget to pick up John and Jen
    will print as:
    Los Angeles County Fa......Jen
Anyone have any idea how to solve this?
P.S. I have already tried meddling with fonts and page sizes to no avail.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
So far as I know, an allday event only ever shows a single line of text regardless of view.
Consequently, how much you can see is governed by the width of the day (or days) in that view.

  • ICal disappears in month view

Just recently, when I select month view in the Tiger iCal, the window disappears. I can add new events, but cannot see them unless I'm within the day or week view. Also, when I immediately click day or week, it doesn't fit the frame properly. Does anyone know why this glitch is happening?

I found this advice from a standford prof.... and it worked for me...
"I just deleted the com.apple.ical.plist file from
user/library/preferences and reset everything back to defaults and it works
    fine now."
I deleted all the iCal plists and it kept my data, but reset iCal and I can now see in month view.

  • ICal bug with month view

I primarily use week view on iCal, but sometimes i switch to month view for a larger perspective. Often, i use month view to check for any leftover events from the previous month in case i forgot to delete one or two.
I just found a bug concerning this. If i click on "month" today, it'll take me to the month view for june 2011, and from there i can navigate forwards or backwards. However, may 2011 seems to have a bug. If i click on < from june, it does nothing; if i click again, it takes me to april 2011. Similarly, if i click on > from april it does nothing and if i click again it takes me to june.
It doesn't end there. The june/may thing happens only when the selected day (the one shaded light grey on the month and week views and bright blue on the little month tab on the left) is after 04 june. If a day from the first week of june (i have my weeks start on sunday) is selected, the < button does take me to may, but several events which i deleted a long time ago are showing up.
Now, i have an event set for today (04 june). Since the first four days of june are in the same week as the last three of may, the month view for may shows these four days, as any normal calendar app would.
If i use the month tab to the left to navigate, i can access may 2011 by selecting any day on that month. However, iCal's behaviour depends on which day was selected previously. If the previous day was in april 2011 or earlier, iCal will show the month of may completely empty, which is great because i have no leftover appointments from may; however, the box for 04 june is also empty, which it shouldn't be. If the previous day was in june 2011, it'll show may with a repeating event on every sunday except the first, which is completely absurd, since i have deleted this event (and why isn't it showing on the first sunday in may?); the box for 04 june, however, will correctly show the event i have set for this day. If the previous day was in july 2011 or later, it'll show may with the repeating event on all sundays (including the first one) and it won't show anything on the box for 04 june.
Obviously, there is a bug with may 2011.
In case it helps, i do have a repeating event set to all sundays until the end of existence, but i have deleted all the entries from may and previously, since they have obviously already happened. Also, i had many other repeating events set to happen on different weekdays; these are to repeat themselves weekly until about halfway through june, and they started on april or may (can't remember right now). Like the sunday one, i have deleted all the entries from may because they have already taken place. Strangely (and thankfully), none of these appear when i visit may from june or later, as does the sunday event.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or am i forever stuck with week view, which has so far proven to be bug-free?
(I did a search on Google and another on the Apple forums for this issue but could find nothing, so i decided to ask the question myself. I apologise if somebody has already asked this question and i just couldn't find it.)

    Greetings,
I have a vague recollection of someone else with this issue but haven't experienced it myself nor encountered it recently.
    Troubleshooting:
1.) First make an iCal backup: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2966.
2.) Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical and / or "ical"
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
    Hope that helps!

  • Ical to iweb: monthly view

I managed to embed my iCal into iWeb, but I can't seem to get rid of the mini months on the side or get it to publish in "month" view instead of "weekly" view. Any suggestions of how to correct this problem?
    Thanks

You can't. There's no option on the published calendar to get rid of the mini months. You could use a Google calendar which doesn't have mini months like in this demo page: Google calendar.
There's also an application, Spanning Sync 3 that will sync iCal calendars with Google calendars. For other methods see:

How to Sync Any Desktop Calendar with Google Calendar
Google Calendar and iCal can sync for free, with caveats

  • All-Day Events & Month View

When I'm creating a new All-Day Event, it immediately disappears if I'm in month view, but shows up in week or day view. This has never ever happened before... If it helps, I'm noticing that it's happening in events that I'm scheduling in April...
    WHY?
Help me fix it, it's necessary for work!
    Thanks

  • ICal 5 event time view change

can you edit the view to "time then event" instead of "event then time" in iCal 5 Lion?
    Old version had
    6:30am           Breakfast with Tim
    New:
    Breakfast with Tim     6:30am

Unfortunately, that is not an option, but you can let Apple know about your needs by using Apple - iCal - Feedback.

  • ICal not displaying all events in Month view, leaving unused blank space

I think this is a bug or bad programming of iCal:
In the month view, I have for example a day with 5 or 6 events. When I change the size of the global iCal window, the size of each day is of course changing, displaying more or less of the events on that day; and displaying "..." when additional events exist but can not be shown. This is all fine... and normal...
However, I noticed that iCal is simply not making use of the whole space: when my day is bog enough to display all events, iCal is still only displaying half of them, and the "...".
This is really a pity as the white space is there.
    Anybody observed the same behavior?

    Hey, thank you.
But how do I change the font and its size?
    I tried....
    Thanks,
    Janos

  • How can I view my photos in "Events" like in iPhoto? How can I create events?  I have 55,000 photos and 1700 events so the only way I can possibly manage my photos is using events that are one slide in size.

I have 55,000 images organized into about 1700 events. The only reasonable way to view my library is using events in iPhoto where each event has one image That still leaves 1700 images to sort through but that is a lot easier than 55,000 images.  In the side bar is a folder with "iPhoto Events" but those views still show all of the slides.  How can I create events and view my photos as events as in iPhoto?  Events are critical for large libraries and has been my primary way to sort images.
    Thanks!

I had a problem a couple of months ago when iPhotos suddenly rearranged the order of my Events (Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?) .  I was told "Use albums not events - events are not a good way to organize - albums and folder are designed for organisation and are very flexible".
Haha!  I should have paid attention and read between the lines!  My iPhotos were highly organised groupings - not according to date but the way I wanted them - and it was so easy to do!  I see now that if I had them all in albums, as per the Apple Apologist suggestion, I wouldn't have this unholy mess I have been left with just to make iPhone & iCloud users happy.  I am now going through Photos and making Albums (of what used to be in my Events)  ... maybe I'll get this finished before they do another non user friendly update!

  • Crash when adding new multi-word event to month view

Recently updated(?) to Leopard from 10.4.11. Now, adding a new event to iCal when in month view often causes a crash. Sequence is:
    0) click in desired date box to start new event
    1) type first word of event, type space, start typing second word
    2) input freezes after a few chars and acts as if I had exited the input box
    3) reclick on the input to edit/complete it
    4) * crash *

This is also driving me nuts... Actually, I have not even figured out how to even enter a new appointment in month view. It used to be double-click, enter name, hit <tab> and fill out he rest in the panel, but this routine does not work any more.

  • I was able to print my month view from ical, but no longer is "month" an option. I can only see list and day. Please advise!

Just curious...about two weeks ago I was able to print my ical calendar in month view. For some reason, "month view" is no longer an option in print mode. The only two options I have are day or list. Not sure how to print in month view now or retreive that back. Please advise : )

Be sure Safari does not have the Block Pop-Up Windows preference set.
Where I work now there are several unencrypted VLANs that require authentication, and Safari promptly pops up a window for me to register every time.

  • Can i change the dot color IN MONTHLY VIEW

On my ipad i can see the beginning of (for example: Jen's Birthd) each event i create in monthly view with IOS7 but in my iphone i get only gray dots.  The dots are fine but can i change the color to correspond to events or calendars?  I just uploaded a US holiday calendar and its dots are also gray so everthing is gray and i just know something is happening (not the importance of it) and have to click each day with a dot or flip it and see the week view which is just more confusing to me than the monthly.  Id like to only see the monthly if at all possible.

    I understand.
You can leave Apple your feedback here.

  • Cannot set time in month view

Until a few days ago I could create a new activity in the month view edit it and set the appropriate time. Now when I create an entry the time is set at the initial creation, changing it does not effect the entry.
ie. I create an entry and the time is set at from 19:00 til 20:00. I select edit and change it to 10:0 till 11:00 hit save. When I re-open the entry the time is back to 19:00 till 20:00.
Doing the same exercise in week or day view does work. Also items created in month view and edited in week or day view are correct.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Region. Region should be set to the country of your choice. Do not have it set to "Custom" as this can have unexpected results in the iCal window.
If that isn't the cause then:
First make an iCal backup, File > Export > Archive.
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
__NOTE: Removing these files will remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
Once the computer is back up and running open iCal and test.
    Hope that helps.

  • More than 6 Calendars in Monthly View?

Is there any way to show more than 6 Calendars in the Monthly View?
After 6 are displayed, there are just 3 dots that indicate that there are more Calendars out of sight.
    Thanks,
    Chris.

    Hi Del,
    Thanks for your reply.
Here is a link to a pdf that shows an example of what I mean:
    http://www.amson.org/ical-001.pdf
I track projects over weeks at a time and would use ical in the Monthly View mode mostly.
Do you see how I have 6 Calendars showing with 3 dots above them that indicates more Calendars exist, but cannot be seen in Monthly View mode. If one goes to the Weekly View mode, all the Calendars are visible. However, I need to see all (more than 6) in the Monthly View.
I looked in Preferences and don't see any way to change this there.
    Thanks,
    Chris.

  • Create event from an email in LION

Maybe it's me, but I can't seem to find a way (or Apple Scripts in Menu like Snow Leopard) to create an Event from an Email?
I do see that one thing it must have is a date or time from someone in the body of the email, which gives you the dropdown bar and you can create an event.
I hope this isn't gone or tossed out, or worse, not thought through (Remember not being able to accept a meeting invite on iPhones?).
Anyone guide this through for me? Can't believe I am asking a question like this but this one has me lost.
    Thanks

Ok. I spoke to iApps Team at Apple and we figured this out.
    Here's how it works:
In order to drag an event to iCal (Create Event from an Email) you must be in "No Conversations" mode
Conversations can be toggled by the Icon in the Icon Bar (See preferences to drag it if it's not there)
Once in "No Conversations" mode, you can drag an email to create an event in iCal like Snow Leopard
The AppleScripts from Snow Leopard Mail are gone (At least in the OS version of Mail)
If you are in "Conversations" mode, you cannot drag an email to iCal to create an event (Apple - should this be fixed or updated to add the Conversations to create an event???)
So Hat Tip to the folks at iApps for helping me to determine the fix. They were able to drag it in "No Conversations" mode, which led me to my own conclusion that it works only in that mode.
Better would be a add-in to the Help Menu to show people how to do this. Simple is fine, we need to know how to do something as critical as this without guesswork...
What's your experiences, tips or tricks in Apple Mail so far?
