IOS 7 imessage

I have recently downloaded the iOS 7 but now my imessage will not let me send anything using my phone number. I have loggeed out of my apple ID but then my imessage wont work at all and i have un ticked my email adress but then only texts will send. It was possible with the iOS 6 so was just wondering how i could change it back?

This is ridiculous, Apply knew there would be huge demand, why couldn't they make sure there were sufficient activation servers available

Since ios 8, imessages on my iphone are turning into texts. and the recipients are using apple devices. Their reply messages come back in a new message, without the history. and often their address is an icloud one and not their phone number (which is where I sent it). Why?

As in the link when you send an iMessage your text bubble is blue. If it's sent SMS your text message is green. Both parties will receive the message or reply in a grey bubble. When you contact them ask them what colour their sent text messages bubble are.
As for group messages check your settings. MMS must be turned on; Settings > Messages. Send as SMS must also be turned on.

I'm receiving some personnal SMS (through iOS 5 imessage) on an old iphone I've already sold. How to avoid that?

I used to have an iPhone 3GS, which I recently upgraded to iOS 5 and sold. This device doesn't have any of my personnal information inside anymore (several resets and reinstall iOS5 from an blank iTunes on a seperate computer) and doesn't have my chip inside anymore.
I am using a new smartphone (not Apple) now and when I text friends who have iPhone (with iOS 5 and iMessage), I receive some of the personnal responses on the old iPhone. It seems those messages are sent through iMessage...
How to avoid that? I sold this iPhone and I don't want the buyer to receive my personnal message + I don't want to miss them on my new phone!

I would suggest you read the user guide. There IS no Facetime App for the iPhone.

IOS 8 iMessage and FaceTime "Waiting for Activation"

I just upgraded my iPhone 5 and iPad to iOS 8 and now I can't get my iMessage and FaceTime to work. When I try to send messages (sms or iMessage) from my phone I get a "Not Delivered" message. I've tried resetting my network settings, I've also messed with toggling on and off the iMessage and FaceTime buttons in settings, and I've also tried setting up my iMessage and FaceTime when on wifi, airplane mode (with wifi) and using my cellular network.
Even though my phone is not registering these changes, I'm getting a popup message on my laptop saying "Email Addresses Added to 'iPhone,'" so it seems like the laptop is recognizing that I'm getting hooked up to iMessage but my phone just work. Anyone else having iMessage or FaceTime problems? do I need to downgrade back to iOs 7?

If you still got this issue, I just solved it on my wife's 5s. After reading a different blog that suggested turning off FT from the Phone settings and then reset. But my wife's phone didn't even had the FT option under settings > Phone so I just did step 2 and it worked.
Step 1) Goto: Settings > FaceTime and turn off
Step 2) Goto: Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
After the phone has restarted, search for FaceTime and have fun.
Remember that apple would prefer you are connected to a WIFI source.

IOS 6: iMessage not working (iPad 2)

So I updated to iOS 6 (why on earth it needed 2.1 GB of free space I'll never know) this past Thursday. At first, I was really impressed.
A promising future. Then things started to go downhill.
I had to send a message (whenever I refer to a message, I mean through iMessage) to a friend about an assignment that our professor had given us. Well I made the text and went on to use something else. Only hours later, when I didn't get a response, did I see that it failed. I tried again and again for an hour and it did not work. And yes, I turned iMessage on and off, quit the application many times, and turned my iPad on and off. It wasn't the Internet connection, the connection was really good. So I have no idea what's going on.
However, my iPhone 3GS has not had any problems with iMessage. It's on iOS 5. (I haven't updated it to 6 b/c it requires 2.2 GB of free space, as if I had that, and when I connected my iPad 2 to my computer, it won't sync. My computer is running on 10.5.8. So I can't get the latest iTunes, and therefore cannot sync my iPad).
So has anyone found any way of fixing this? Apple needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to fix this.
And then give everyone who updated a complimentary something and an update to fix the problem.
I'm so glad I didn't buy the new iPhone 5. Wouldn't want that problem.

I would do as what Diavovex suggested:
Settings >>> General >>> Reset >>> Reset all Settings.
Once you have completed this, ipad will reboot, connect again to your Wi-Fi and then try to Reset imessage again. Just make sure your Apple ID and password are ok ...... try log in to Apple Store and if this is not an issue then I don't see why imessage cannot connect?

IOS 6 imessage not working

I recently upgraded to the iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 and my iMessage and FaceTime was working now yesterday it stopped and still is not working I've tried everything that people are suggesting and everything I thought of and still doesnt work. HELP

Update: iMessage worked for a day and is not working again. This is getting old... it says I am activated and ready to use iMessage but it just wont work and my friend has her iMessage working and on too...

IOS 7 iMessage bug

I have had several problems with sending pictures via iMessage since updating to iOS 7.
The first problem is when I am on a wifi network, and talking on the phone. iOS has essentially refused to send pictures/images over iMessage in this scenerio. This problem has been partially resolved in the iOS 7.1 update. Now, if I choose the "camera button" next to the text box from within the conversation, all goes as expected over iMessage. If I choose the picture I want to send from "Pictures" and select "send as... message" Then select the recipients name, the picture will be sent as a text message. Once I am no longer talking on the phone, iMessage will resume sending as normal from either location. Again this happens when I am connected to wifi so this is not a LTE/4G/EDGE switching issue.
The second problem I have is that sometimes pictures will just plain not send when choosing the picture I want to send from "Pictures" and select "send as... message". When this happens it causes my phone to temporarily freeze for a few moments. Then the phone proceeds as if it had sent the message. However upon checking the conversation, it becoems clear that the message never sent or was never "added to" the conversation. This happens at random and usually restarting my phone will resolve the problem temporarily. Sending pictures seems to only consistently work when attaching them from within the conversation itself.
It should also be noted that the "send as..." feature only breaks down with sending iMessages/text messages. "send as... email" works flawlessly every time.
Anyway of the many numerious bugs I have encountered in iOS 7 this one is by far the most obnoxious that I have encountered. I was hoping it would be resolved in the iOS 7.1 update but it looks like maybe I set the expectation bar too high for this incrimental update.
My hardware is an iPhone 5.
I asked the guys at the Apple store about it and they gave me the usual propaganda induced response that they are required to give. "We never heard of that. iOS is perfect *big toothy grin* "
I plan to try a clean install of iOS to see if it resolves the problem (not restoring from backup), but that is a time consuming process and I don't have the time for that right now.
iOS 7 has been somewhat of a disapointemnt. I still can't wrap my head around how simply changing the look and feel of iOS would require Apples developers to break half of the features that worked flawlessly in iOS 6.

I started having this issue about a month ago. Exactly as you described: especially when a text has an attached photo. Sometimes it is sent as a text message (green), sometimes it will fail completely. FYI, upgrading to 7.1 didn't fix the issue. Another observation is that if it is sent as a text message (without a failure), the recepient receives it but it either takes a while for them to see it, or it doesn't notify them. I had a few friends saying that they didn't even know they got the message until they intentionally went back to our thread and noticed it was sitting there for a while as green but they didn't hear it coming through. So i think on their end it's the same. it attempts to receive and when it finally does, its makes that quite sound like the one when you are actively on the screen, but not the usual tri-tone.
Both receivers confirmed multiple times that they were home or some other place where they are certain to have at least 4G or LTE. So it has to be the bug in the system, and not my or the recepients settings.

After iOS 6, iMessage Microphone Gray

Okay, I'ved searched everywhere and can't find an answer. After I updated to iOS 6 in iMessage ONLY, my microphone to dictate is grayed out. Siri Dictation works everywhere else (email, notes, etc) with out a problem.
Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Restarting the phone does get the mic button back, but it's a very poor solution. My mic is "greying-out" several times per day (10+) in many apps like gmail, facebook, week calender, etc. I don't think it has anything to do with a particular app, but with iOS because it seems to affect all apps.
What i do to get it back is double tap the home button to open the list of running apps, then close the app i'm trying to use by long pressing on its icon then "deleting" it. When i restart that app, the mic button will be enabled again.
This is also a very poor "solution" because it is impractical and does not address the root problem, it just temporarily relieves the sypmtom, but it is better than rebooting.

New iPad tethered to iPhone 4 both on iOS 6, iMessage has stopped working.

Since updating to iOS 6 on both devices, iMessage has stopped working on the iPad when tethered.
It still works on the home wifi, but the progress bar goes to about 95% done before a send failure message comes up.
I haven't found any other apps not working over the tethered 3G network
iMessage is turned on and works elsewhere.

Just updated to iOS 8, iMessage and FaceTime not activating?

I own an iPhone 4s and recently updated my phone to iOS 8. Before, I was able to freely iMessage and FaceTime people without any problems. After updating, I am now not able to activate my iMessage or FaceTime at all. When turning on the iMessage, it always returns to the "Unable to Activate, turn on iMessage to try again." I have tried everything I could find to get this to work yet none of them are specifically for iOS 8 and they are not working. I have even restored my phone, reset the network settings, and many other supposed "solutions" due to my desperation. I just logged out of my Apple ID for iMessage and now it is simply stuck on the "Waiting for Activation" Advice?

go to settings, general, reset, reset all settings. this causes the phone to reset and finishes installing certain iOS 8 features and should fix any glitches you're having. i have not met someone yet where this did not work.

IOS 7 iMessage and FaceTime unable to activate

Every since the upgrade I have not been able o uset iMessage or FaceTime. They are both turned on both indicates needs activation and prompts me to enter Apple ID. However, no matter how many times I try to utilize this function it states iMessage activity ion could not sign in. Please check network connection and try again. This has been the message since I upgrades on last week. Tech support had the nerves to tell me he sang sure what I should do to wait a few days and try again that apples serves might be busy. Help

IOS 8 iMessage issue

I recently updated my iphone 5c to the "best update yet," iOS 8... I am having trouble with iMessages. It is sending them through my email instead of my phone number. My phone number is listed but it is grey and I cannot select it. I do not want to send messages through my email. How do I fix this problem?? I have tried signing out of my apple ID but then the messages won't send at all. I have tried turning off iMessage, turning off my phone, waiting a few minutes, and then turning it all back on. None of that has helped...

i wasnt having this exact issue earlier but since i've updated to ios 8 on my iphone 5, imessages have been giving me a problem.....what i did that seemed to smooth everything out was settings=>general=>reset=>reset network connections: you will have to re-enter your wifi passwords as needed but it was a night an day difference......so far

IOS 6 iMessage/FaceTime Not Working

I was using iOS beta 1 on my iPad but iMessage/FaceTime won't activate - kept telling me my password was incorrect, while it worked everywhere else. Some downgraded to iOS 5.1.1.
Today, I downloaded the public iOS 6 release on my iPhone, and it's not working. Still says wrong password. Because of this, I haven't yet updated my iPad.

HI All, I think I finaly solved my issue - not really but at least now I am working again- I had a friend's brother who works in apple HQ to check my account and found out that no matter how many times I change my password it doesnt reflect on the server. It works but doesnt show up on his screens that I changed the password so the last password was showing 2009 - offcourse I changed password many times since than- so I figured out maybe its a region issue or Apple is ignoring the rest of the worl d. SO what I did was:
- logged in VPN connection to USA.
-Created an new apple ID and tested - guess what it worked. ( I have tried new apple id with no vpn and it didnt work) this brought me to the conclusion thatits the region.
- so I went in to my original ID changed it to another email. than went back and changed the new ID to use the old email address and it was still working fine. offcourse t I had to remove all crdit card details and stuff from the old ID and anything that I bought is still under that ID no way around that, but now I have a new apple ID with the old email I wanted and its working on oall my devices. It took me nearly 2 months to figure this out and still its not the idel solution but for me it worked.

IOS 7 iMessage won't let me enter ? Or ! As first character of a message.

why can't iMessage in iOS 7 easily enter a ? or a ! Punctuation as the very first character in a message or very first character after a period and space (ie start of a sentence)? It is so annoying! SHIFT period or SHIFT comma won't create a ? Or a ! Respectively. Why did Apple change this iMessage's functionality? This wasn't an issue in iOS 6 .
And does anyone know how to submit a software bug report to Apple concerning their consumer software?
