IOS 7 map app

We just got our new iPad minis (up from iPad 1s) and noticed a change in maps. You used to (IOS 5.11) get street level views. These seem to be gone. Is that correct?
I see the new flyover, which is nice, but not the same.
Thanks.
Ken

I suspected... Thanks!
The google maps app does street level but, to me, it's not as good as the IOS 5.11 version. Pity.
Anyway, I really appreciate it.

  • Traffic does not show up on IOS 6 map.app on iPhone 4

I just updated my iPhone 4 to IOS 6 and the map.app does not show traffic even after I selected "Show Traffic." How can this be fixed. I live in a high traffic ares.
    Thanks!

That's because you need the latest version of iTunes, and it requires 10.5.8 or later.

  • Has anyone else noticed that the iOS 6 Maps App is missing the area code for many places it has listed?

If I try to look up a local business on the Maps App it drops a pin on all of the locations matching my search parameters. However, when I get details about a dropped pin, the phone number is usually missing the area code! For example, if the phone number is +1 (123) 555-5555 it would show up as +1 (555) 555-5. This makes it impossible to call directly from the maps app or to copy and paste infront of a manually entered area code (because of the '+1'). Has anyone else noticed this?

Have you checked to make sure that your region settings are correct?

  • Why is Transit not supported in the new iOS 6 Maps app?

I live my life by the transit app in NYC! Is there going to be an update for this?

The 'upgrade' is so bad not only has it jettisoned the very useful walking and subway line combination routes, I've found it omits stops entirely! Sometimes small zooming will make a stop appear or dissappear... This is a bad update to maps for transit users. Hope they use some of that cash they have laying around to get these maps working better...

  • HT5429 The new iOS 6 Maps App looks nice, but it cannot seem to find anything...

Is there some configuration I need to set up to allow it to find locations? It will find things if I type the exact address, but that misses the point. I tried to find a conference center but I left the "The" off the beginning of the name of the place, and it could not find it. Is this working as designed? I have location services turned on, but that shouldn't matter.

  • How do I get routing data from the Map App (powered by TomTom) so I can display the point-to-point annotations (turn-by-turn navigation) without leaving my own application.

I have a tableView displaying a list of contacts from a Cloud Database.  After selecting a contact, I push to a programmatically created MKMapView.  Then I display the initial region (the view) that includes the users current location (starting point) and their selected destination (end point).
Now I want to display annotations (as described in the Location Awareness Programming Guide) that displays polylines which will represent the turn-by-turn navigation IN MY OWN APPLICATION, and not in the Map App currently used in IOS6.
Due to licensing and its becoming depricated in IOS 6, I do not want to get routing data from the Google Maps API.  How do I get routing data from the IOS 6 Map App (powered by TomTom) so I can display the point-to-point annotations (turn-by-turn navigation) without leaving my own application?
I checked out Stack Overflow and other forums which basically left me with the impression that this is not possible. I also checked out the TomTom iPhone Mobile SDK User Guide from the TomTom Developer Portal and am still confused.  It must be possible to retrieve routes, since the Map App can display turn-by-turn directions.  How can I retrieve turn-by-turn data that I may display as a route within my own application?

Thanks Michael. Apologies for the slow reply I was away for a bit (holiday blitz at work and visiting family madness etc.etc.) back now, I set both options you requested to "never " and retried the CMS software with no change.
I do have progress of a sort though, as a test I took a separate test PC and put a clean install of Win7 on and loaded up the CMS software (it worked perfectly) and then took the version of ole32.dll off that machine and put it onto the computer I had built
    for her (using Linux) and...
got a new error code. Darn I was so sure I had found a clever solution this time lol.
Anyway now when the CMS fails it gives me a similar error but the offending module is "ntdll.dll" sooo... I tried taking the "working" version of ntdll.dll from the test box and moving it over (making sure to back up the existing ones
first so I could put them back if needed) to her new PC and the PC would not boot.
It seems to want the original versions of a few Dynamic Link Libraries and if I could somehow give it those while not breaking Win7 it should theoretically work seeing as it no longer errors with ole32.dll.
ntdll.dll however seems necessary for Win7 to boot.
So what I am wondering now is:
Is there some way to have both versions of the DLL file in the system32 folder (bypassing the "cannot have two files with the exact same name in the same folder" thing) or rename the original DLL's something else and somehow make the CMS look for
the new named versions so the system has the updated DLL's it needs to boot/run and the CMS has the old ones it wants to run or is there someway to have a self contained install of the CMS, say on a USB flash drive and give it it's own E:/windows/system32/needed
dll's  path to the files it needs?
Willing to try any other options or settings you may have come up with as well.
Thanks again for your reply and my apologies for not answering sooner.

  • Map App

Is apple going to fix the IOS 6 map app, because it was the most useful app and now it is AWFUL!!! It is a really awkward app because you cannot just switch from walking to bus to drive. It just deletes everything you put in there.

    In a word, no.

  • Map app deleted. How to reinstall?

  • Although I have been using Google Maps App in India for a while now (without any issues) but I still want to know if there are any plans for launching Turn by Turn Navigation under the OOTB Map App for iOS?

Although I have been using Google Maps App in India for a while now (without any issues) but I still want to know if there are any plans for launching Turn by Turn Navigation under the OOTB Map App for iOS?
It has been quite a while since Apple came up with Map App of their own and should be releasing improved maps with more capabilities in India.
    Cheers!

No one here can answer your question, as there is no one from Apple here, & no one here represents Apple or speaks for Apple.

  • How to call iOS 6 Maps from App

    Hi,
i am searching around for an answer but could not find one. I want to call ne the Maps app from mit App to show me the possible routes to my target location. Before iOS 6 my call looks like this:
    http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=37.785834,-122.406417&daddr=49.305500,8.132570
The Google Maps app open as expected with the possible routes for selection. Now under iOS 6 i changed my call like this:
    maps://q=&saddr=37.785834,-122.406417&daddr=49.305500,8.132570&view=map
This opens the new Maps app correctly but i get the following error:
    Directions Not Available
Directions could not be found between these locations.
Whats the problem? Do i miss something?
    greetings Mike

Before updating my iPhone the maps were great but with this new OS 6 the maps are not working...is there is anyway we can have the previous maps until they fix the problem?!!!

  • How to Replace New Maps app on ios 6 with Google Maps?

Can someone please  provide the procedure to replace the new maps app on ios 6 with Google Maps?
    Thank you

You can still use Google’s maps — on the Web. Visit maps.google.com and accept the offer to create a Home-screen icon for you. You won’t get spoken directions, but you’ll get written directions, public transportation details, live traffic reports and, of course, Google’s far superior maps and data. (In two weeks, you’ll be able to get Street View this way, too, says Google.) And you can install the Google Plus Local app for full access to Google’s more complete database of shops and businesses.
You can also use someone else’s app. Many good ones cost money, but the MapQuest and Waze apps are free and offer spoken directions; Waze also incorporates real-time information about traffic jams, accidents and speed traps, collected by thousands of iPhones and Android phones on the roads.
If you can wait a couple of months, you’ll be able to install Google’s own maps app; Google is busily readying one for the iPhone and iPad.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Since upgrading to iOS 8.3 the maps apps on my ipad do not show current location from my gps

Since upgrading to iOS 8.3 the maps apps on my ipad do not show current location from my gps DUALXGPS150A
The data is still being received by the ipad but not appearing on any of the maps.
Everything was working fine before the upgrade.

    Hi davidisleta,
If you are having issues with your iPad not showing location information, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Maps app on iPhone5 with iOS 7.1 is not announcing directions with sound turned on

My Maps app has stopped announcing directions. iPhone 5, iOS 7.1 with latest updates. Location services is turned on. Sounds are turned on. Volume is set to Loud in the Maps app. Cellular Data is turned on for Maps. I tried resetting my phone per the instructions online and nothing has helped so far. Any ideas?

After much trial and error I finally figured this out. It has to do with the starting location. The starting location must be "Current Location" in order for Maps to announce turn-by-turn directions. In other words you have to start by entering your destination address, and then select "directions to here", which sets the from location to "current location". I had dropped a pin on my home, which is the same starting address as "current location", so should have given me the same result, but for some reason when you type in the actual address of your current location for the starting location, it does not activate the voice control for turn-by-turn navigation. I have tried this two or three times and every time when I enter the starting location, Maps does not announce directions, but when I let it calculate my current location it does. Even when location services are turned on for Maps in both cases. Can't understand the logic here or why Aplle would program it this way, but it is what it is. If anyone else is having this issue, I hope this helps.
