IOS 7, Moving messages between Exchange accounts

Hi,
Can't find any help on this issue:
I have two Exchange accounts set up on my iPhone (and iPad), and both work well interms of sending and receiving e-mails. As I frequently get messages addressed to one address that "belong" to the other, I want to move these after processing them to the right folder under the other account.
ios 7 seemingly caters to this by allowing me to "move up" from the current account and see the other accounts. BUT, the other Exchange account is grayed out, so moving messages between the accounts is impossible.
This is perfectly possible on the Mac in OS X, so I am not sure why this should be infeasible on the phone?
Any ways to get around this?

Hold on, maybe you can. Try this and see if it works...
Select the account and message you want to move.
Tap the folder icon under the message
You should see at the top left of the screen <Inbox. Tap that.
You should now see <Accounts. Tap again.
Select the accoun, then the folder you want to move the email to.
Looks like it does work for me. Learn something new every day! :-)

Recently, Thunderbird stopped sending mail and moving messages between folders, junk messages stopped being moved.

Further notes (different user, same problem):
    * This is a problem that started in Thunderbird 32
    * This involves both automatic (filter) moves and manual moves
    * This includes use of keys and hotkeys (the delete key, for example)
    * Restarting Thunderbird does seem to "reset" the problem... for a while. I notice the problem most when either I've been away from the computer/program for a while or when waking a laptop computer from a sleep or hibernation state.

  • Can't Move Messages in Exchange Account

    Hello,
I'm one of very few Mac users in my office and was very excited to find that the Exchange server was finally updated (I think) to allow me to use Mail. I can send and receive messages fine, iCal and Address Book sync as expected but I cannot move messages between any folder. I get the warning "The message "Some Message Name" could not be moved to the mailbox "Some Mailbox name" An error occured while moving messages to mailbox "Some Mailbox name". In viewing the Console Log, here's what I get:
    * Assertion failure in -[EWSCopyItemsResponseOperation executeOperation], /SourceCache/Message/Message-1078/MessageStores.subproj/EWSCopyItemsResponseOpe ration.m:47
Copying an EWS message returned success, but didn't have 1 item in the response message, got 0 items; most likely one of the Exchange Server components is not running Service Pack 1 Update Rollup 4
I was under the impression that I wouldn't be able to even connect to the Exchange server without the above version update. As somebody who knows nothing about the structure of an Exchange server, are there multiple components that need to be updated rather than a combo type update?

I've got the same problem. I'm new to Mac, this is quite frustrating. I can't get Entourage to connect to the Exchange 2007 server, Mail connects and can send and receive messages, but I can't delete messages or move them to folders.
    Any ideas?

  • Apple's Mail program is missing 1000s of messages from Exchange account

I just discovered a terrifying thing about Mail, which I had chosen to use as my mail client to access my company's Exchange server.
When connected to the Exchange server, Mail shows and counts only 6,800 messages , while when I access the Exchange account from other systems ( iPad, iPhone, web mail, MS Outlook, ) there are 18,000 messages !
This is a SHAME ; I have used Mail to search for messages and make archives ; now I understand why on many occasions my searches etc. where unsucessful !
Mr Apple and Mr Microsoft, you need to solve this or just say upfront one should NOT use Mail to access an Exchange account ( which is my advice to anybody).

Right click on the email  in the left hand pane.  Select Mark as Unread to return it to an unread state.  Click Delete to move it to the trash or file it in a folder if you have any configured.  You may need to click the show button on the upper left hand side of the window to see your folders.  The + sign at the bottom of that pane allows you to add a new folder.

  • Receive message for Exchange Account password?

Receive "password Incorrect" message "Exchange" account?

Try this to get the iPad to function again.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
After the iPad boots up - try this for the password issue.
Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • Apple Mail shows Blank Messages on Exchange Account

I have three email accounts. Normally, they all work well but more and more frequently my Exchange account shows a message in my inbox but when I click on it, the body is blank. I've clicked to check messages, resynchronized the server even deleted the account and reset it again. The problem still returns. Here is the oddest thing. I think it is only for email sent internally. That is email from outside of the organization don't exhibit this problem. Also, once I view an email from outside the organization, the internal email shows up again.
Another issue is that when I send an email using exchange to an internal recipient, I often receive the challenge to select a server and then it fails and I have to select it again. After selecting the Exchange server two or three times, it sends. Unfortunately, my recipients receive the message every time so they will get two or three copies of the same message.
We are using Exchnage server 2007.
    Any thoughts?

I manage an Exchange 2007 and I have been having this issue for over a month.  It was effecting all of the Mac Computers that we support.  The good news I was able to fix it last night after reading about a similar problem with Blackberry phones.  Unfortunately, you will need to either be the Exchange admin or have influence in your IT Department.
On the Exchange server the Performance Counters need to be verified and it is found in the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Perflib\009
When you viewing the key in explorer mode I found that it was basically blank.  It should read like the following:
    1 1847 2 System 4 Memory 6 % Processor Time...
    If its blank it corrupted.
Supposidly this was caused by the update to Service Pack 2 upgrade...  However, I did that a 6 + months ago.  The only change since then was that the server was virtualized to VMware.
Here is what you do to fix this:
(Note: This was done on a Windows 2008 R2 Sever...  However, it should work on 2003 and 2008 as well)
Launch the Windows Command Prompt (cmd), ensure that you run the Command Prompt as the Administrator.  For example, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right click Command Prompt and click Run As Administrator.
Change Directory to <root drive>\Windows\System32, the root drive is typically C:.  Run the following command
         lodctr /R
This will restore the base or core counters
Check the registry value under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/Perflib/009 and ensure that the value Counter is no longer corrupted.
In the Command Prompt window, run the following command:
         wmiadap /f
This will force the reload of all counters in to the WMI repository.
Open Performance Monitor (perfmon.exe) and click the green + to Add, this will open Add Counters. Verify that the MSExchange counters exist and have Instances populated.
Restart the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.
    NOTE: This step is required.
    Hope this helps someone!

  • Sync Contacts between Exchange account and MobileMe account

On my iPad I use two different email accounts: one Exchange account with ActiveSync and one MobileMe account.
How can I consolidate or sync Contacts between the two accounts?
At least, I would like to be able to move contacts from my MobileMe account to my Exchange account. Is that possible?
Thanks in advance for any hints or advice.
    --Torben

You could each add the others iCloud to your devices as a secondary account in mail, contacts, calendars and just enable the services you wish to use.

  • MDM IOS Activesync File left, remove Exchange account

    During our initial Test,
    we ha the Profile :
    MDM IOS ActiveSync File
wich created an an Exchange Account on the IOS Devices, unfortunatly this account cannot be removed, and currently we hve no ActiveSync / Exhange Server defined, this must result in no Policy.
I have tried to update the device, by upload the new profile, but the Exchange Account (an the MDM the profile ios Activesync File ) is still on the device and cannot be removed.
So how can we handle this ?
    best regards

In this case the ZMM server acts as an ActiveSync server so that it can provide ActiveSync policies to the device. You would be unable to delete that profile as long as you are protecting profiles. You could delete the MDM profile entirely which would also remove this one.

Scratch my previos note... that's not what happens.
I more looks like it some how get's connected using the active sync server but then not able to make a complete sync.
This is a problem I see in two setups at the momment, so any ideas on this would be nice. Or maybe just a log to look in.
The user gets created in ZMM but then does not get the automatically mail created. The log tells me this:
"Login rejected: user Failed to Authenticate to Active Sync Server (invalid username or password)"
What I don't get is that it's able to create the user in ZMM but not to sync.

  • Transfer Mail messages between Mail accounts

I would like to transfer all messages from one of my Mail account to another Mail account for the same user on the same computer. I want to do that because I don't want to lose my old email messages when I delete the old Mail account.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

You can accomplish this a number of ways.
Create an "On My Mac" location mailbox - one for this account's Inbox messages and one for the account's Sent messages.
Transfer messages from the account's inbox mailbox to the appropriate user created mailbox and the same for the account's Sent messages before deleting the account.
I would prefer keeping the received and sent messages for the account to be deleted separate from the account that will remain but if you don't care about this, transfer the messages from the account's inbox mailbox to be deleted to the account's Inbox mailbox that will remain and the same for the messages in the account's Sent mailbox to be deleted.
Or with the Mail.app quit and using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the POP account to be deleted). This account named folder contains the associated mailboxes for the account - Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk.
Copy this account named folder and place the copy on the Desktop.
Launch Mail and delete this account.
Use the Import Mailboxes feature to import the account's Inbox mailbox and Sent mailbox located in the copy of the account named folder placed on the Desktop.

  • Mail app dies when moving message between folders

    Hi all -
I have had this problem for quite a while, both on an iPad and iphone so it is IOS related. It was in version 3.x and also in the current 4.2.1 version we are using now. Here is the case:
    1. Email accounts are all gmail accounts in our case.
    2. the task is moving an email from a folder I created in one account, to another folder I created in the same account. I have several gmail accounts..
    3. I have yet to do this successfully. I select the email, select move, choose the target folder and wit in two seconds, I am returned to the home screen. Mail is still running in the background but the message goes nowhere. I am able to place messages in folders from the inbox, from spam but not from another folder.
Here are my questions: Does anyone else esperience this bug? What is the reporting site for IOS bugs with Apple, since they are not subscribers to this user forum?
    Thanks for your attention

Okay, but first a few things:
    A. It won't, in most cases, do a thing for freeing up any significant amount of memory. Very few apps that you quit from the MT Tray/Recents List will be running in the background. In the specific case of Mail, you won't do much of anything at all, as it will be cranking itself up again in the background pretty quickly. It's just what it does.
    B. As I stated, the force quit is just the first of a whole series of recommended steps, all of which are laid out in the User Guide and all of which are described, discussed, recommended, etc., dozens of times per day in these and related forums. The sequence is summarized in the following boilerplate:
From the Tips & Troubleshooting section of the User Guide:
    *Restarting and Resetting iPad*
If something isn’t working right, try restarting iPad, force quitting an app, or resetting iPad.
*Restart iPad*    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
*Force quit an app*  Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPad for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then press and hold the Home button until the app quits.
+If you can’t turn off iPad or if the problem continues, you may need to reset iPad. This should be done only if turning iPad off and on doesn’t resolve the problem.+
*Reset iPad* Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
*iPad Still Doesn’t Respond After Reset*
+Reset iPad settings.+ From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. All your settings are reset, but your data and media aren’t deleted.
If that doesn’t work, +erase all content on iPad+. See Resetting iPad.
If that doesn’t work, +restore the iPad software.+ See Removing a Backup.
You can call AppleCare if you like, but will wind up working through some or all of these same steps. The same is true of taking it into a Genius Bar.

  • Mail.app and purging of moved messages with IMAP accounts?

I REALLY want to like Mail.app but one item that has caused frustration for years is the handling (or lack) of handling of my messages once moved to another folder with IMAP accounts. I would like for Mail.app to purge/expunge the messages from the server automatically when the message is moved but it doesn't seem to complete that transaction until you actually quit out of mail.
I use multiple computers and I don't remember to quit out of Mail.app going from one of my Macs to another and don't want to but I'm getting tired of having to file the messages twice (or more). Is there a way to set Mail.app to do the automatic instant purging (or expunging) of the messages from the originating folders without having to quit out of the application? This seems to be the default behavior for nearly every other mail client I've used, including Entourage and is an option in Outlook and Outlook Express (PC).

same is true with popmail, not just imap.
moreover, i think hitting "remove now" just puts content in your server's trash folder, meaning it's still taking up disk quota and you'll never know till you stop getting mail...

  • How to copy email messages between 2 accounts on IMAP server side

    Hello,
I have a need that I'm not yet able to solve on my Mac Mini Server (OSX10.9.4 build 13E28 - Server 3.1.2 build 13S4517).
I have configured and started my Server with the IMAP Server that manage my emails domain; at the moment I have 8 accounts able to retrieve emails from the external ISP, send emails outside through the same ISP and manage locally the emails exchange. All it's working as good as well.
Now, caused by operative needs of the company, all the emails of a specific account should be copied/forwarded/duplicated (one of this solution would be indifferently accepted) to a different account. The second account isn't configured on the ISP site but only my Server and should be used as a something similar to a live-backup of the first account. This is necessary because the first account "can be / has to be" managed by a lot of people (we know that this behavior could be dangerous for the integrity of the mail repository but we can't do in a different way...) and so we need to create a second account that will be managed by the administrator only to handle in real-time possible recoveries...
Have someone ideas/suggestion about a standard way (i.e. I mean something already foreseen inside Maverick/Server app) that we can follow to configure the environment that I've described?
Thanks a lot for your help and support

Irina, I don't think the mail api is not really designed for that. To do things at the database level, you might want to look at streams to pump all changes over to an archive database.
However one thing to bear in mind is that if you are capturing changes in the user's mail folder then you do not have an authoritative record of all mail (just an archive of what actually made it into their folders (e.g. if they choose not to keep a sent copy, then you will not have it in your archive).
For this reason, true compliance archiving usually aims to intercept the smtp delivery process (either as an intermediate gateway or plugin to a gateway .. google for such products).
you would normally do this at your corporate smtp gateway. unfortunately, I don't believe you can internally intercept/hook the OCS smtp process with 100% reliability (e.g. via a trigger), so I'd suggest you look at external smtp solutions if you really need compliance archiving.

  • Outlook 2010 SP1 Profile Does Not Update After Moving Mailbox Between Exchange 2010 SP2 Sites

I am working on a large mailbox migration from one AD site to another.
    Exchange version at both sites:Exchange 2010 SP2
    Two Mailbox Servers: MBX01 in site A / MBX02 in site B
(There is a DAG but keeping this simple)
    Two CAS Arrays: CASA.domain.com / CASB.domain.com
The RPCClientAccessServer property is set accordingly.  Where MBX01 is set to CASA.domain.com and MBX02 is set to CASB.domain.com
    Clients:Outlook 2010 SP1
Scenario: I successfully move a mailbox from Site A to Site B.  The Outlook client does not automatically update its server settings to point to the new cas array (CASB.domain.com) and continues to connect to the old CAS server (CASA.domain.com).
I have seen a few articles regarding this pointing to workarounds such as:
    - repairing the outlook profile on the client
    - delete the existing outlook profile
    - run a script to update the prf file (re-cache's email at the client)
I am interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced this, what their solution was for a large migration and if any roll-ups or service packs have possibly fixed this problem.
I would also like to know if you have seen this affect ActiveSync devices.  I am getting mixed results in my tests and thought it may be contributed toward different device types, mobile os versions, etc...
I have posted this to the Exchange 2010 forum as well, just wasn't sure where to start.
    Thanks.

  • Suddenly getting 'password incorrect' message for Exchange account Hotmail.

Suddenly getting this mail error message on my iPad3. I enter the correct password (works fine on my pc) but iPad doesn't accept it.  It won't accept the 'cancel' button either, so I'm stuck on this screen, and can't use the ipad.  Can anyone help?

  • Moving iTunes between User Accounts on home Computer

Hi all - I'd appreciate some advice please. When my son set up iTunes on our home XP computer he did so in his own user account. This cannot be accessed by my daughter in her user account or in the general family account. How do I move the base set up between user profiles on the same computer?
    Regards
    Phil

My advice is to consolidate your son's library to a shared folder.
Then everyone can access the music from their accounts, yet keep separate ratings & playcounts, etc.
If you just move things around in windows, your son will either lose ratings & playcounts, or the paths to the music. Here is how to consolidate:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364
    Here is some light reading
    Multiple users, use Method 1:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495
Sharing files on same PC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203
This is important so you don't get duplicates files and fill up your hard drive.
