Ios 7 : poor quality -  usability and readability

As an project manager who helped to include in projects at an international level usability testing and as a major Project manager who included iterative usability design, testing and feedback in this project, I am sad to say that I am VERY disappointed with the 'so-called' NEW design of is ios7.  I find the typography, design and colour scheme very poor from a usability and readability point of view and believe that ios6 design was, and is, much easier to READ and LESS TIRING on the eyes I would like to have an option of moving my ipad mini BACK TO iso6  (PLEASSSSSE...).
I have decided that our iPhones will remain on iOS 6 and I will NOT upgrade to OSX Mavrick. Moreover and consequently,I will NOT BUY any new versions of the iphones, ipads, or MAC computers that already have preinstalled ios7 !! {At least until APPLE comes back to decent designs, or at least gives users a design choice !}
The whole situation has been aggravated by the fact that when I upgraded to Pages 2.0 on the ipad mini, I discovered, to my HORROR, that Pages 2.O and the ios6 versions of PAGES nor the OSX10.8 versions of PAGES are not compatible. That is,I could no longer synchronize with my ios6 versions of pages nor with  OSX10.8 (EVEN MICROSOFT DOES NOT MAKE THIS TYPE OF ERROR !!!).
I tried deleting Pages on the ipad mini {hoping that the ios6 version of pages would be recovered from my computer back-up, only to discover that Pages 2.0 (that I do not want) had reinstalled on the ipad mini.
To use PAGES with icloud on the ipad mini, APPLE wants me to upgrade to Mavrick (on my THREE Apple computers) and ios7 on my iPhones: this I do not want to do.
So, I will just be obligued to STOP using PAGEs and find another software program instead.
I require: more readable ios7 software and programs like contacts, calander, etc. Please do not modify ibooks original design !!
I require also : backward compatible PAGES (between ios7 and 6) buut preferably to switch back to ios6 as well as moving back a version on PAGES to the ios6 version. (For your infomration, there are many forums complaining about the design of ios7 ).
THIS FEEDBACK HAS BEEN SENT TO APPLE SUPPORT !

  • Poor quality DVD and img

Both the burnt DVD and the.img copy have very poor quality when played. It is particularly noticeable on the text which acts as a link to the other parts of the DVD. The preview is fine and the encoder is set to "best quality" ..HELP!

I'm looking for answers too: Having the best possible dv-quality raw material, I am puzzled that iDVD chooses to only use 1.2 GB of the 4.3 GB available on the DVD - even though I use the "Quality"-mode instead of best performance!
The loss of quality really is visible - also on tv!

Make sure the QuickTime Player is set to high quality playback.
With the QuickTime Player running, select QuickTime Player>Preferences>General and make sure the 'Use high-quality video setting when available' box is checked.

  • Poor quality export and zoom

    Hi
I downloaded trial of 4.1 and 4.2 of LR and wanted to make my photos is this software over DPP, but...
I was working few days until did some compare of export files. It's terrible.
I'm not speaking about wrong colors or so. I have all profiled and I'm useing icc also monitor icc capable viewers,
but any way - loaded to LR look same.
It's also no problem with jpg quality settings, I use 76, but there is no better with 100%.
    Exported with sRGB.
Jpeg quality is bad if more dark colors in one. If I take exposure down, then it looks like jpg saved with 1 quality.
This same quality I get when zoom 1:1, on normal screen is OK.
Is this trial problem? If so, no problem, but if I buy and get this same, then I can be ungry.
    No such problem with DPP.
    Any ideas?
    thx
EDIT - i send files to friend with full version, it's this same! More... It's this same even when exported to Tiff uncompressed.
I followed more and found that problem is much less visible with Adobe Std profile instead of camera profiles (neutral, portrait etc..). Screenshots are saved via paint and here rescaled, but You exactly can see what I mean. In reality DPP You can't pixels as here, so also in LR little less, also on screenshots from export colors are a little bit off, but in real they are similar.
    I can't get it...
    Normal view:
    LR 1:1
    LR export q76:
    DPP view:
    DPP zoom 1:1
    DPP export q7:

    What camera is that?

  • Poor quality photos and type

I am doing 2 projects, first one is a video of a trip I took, where I have added type, imported in some special pieces I created in After Effects etc. After running if off and importing it into dvdstudio pro it looks great. The problem is with project #2, my photo montage. In FCP I brought high quality photos in and added type to the photos (just as I added type in my video project), but after running if off the exact same way as the video (basic export, self contained movie, current settings) and bring it in to dvdstudio pro, the quality is horrible. Type is pixilated, photos are a bit pixilated too. What am I doing wrong? It's not a monitor thing, I have burned a dvd and viewed it on tv and it was just as bad.
Thanks for any help you can give me,
    Michelle

Its not possible yet to figure out whether your problem is with FCP or with DVDSP (or both).
You need to hook up a TV to view the work in progress. Run firewire out from the computer to your camera then cables from your camera to the TV. Your camera manual will show you how to connect it to your TV if you are unfamilier with the process.
Once the TV monitor is connected, watch the sequence.
    Does it demonstrate problems?
If so, lets fix them here.
If not, the issues are being introduced in the mpeg2 encoding.
    What settings are you using?

  • NEED HELP! Poor quality stills and text

I'm finishing up a corporate video with lots of still pictures and text. Unfortunately, It's so bad I can't show it to the customer. As always, the video footage looks great but the still photos and the text looks very, very bad when played on a DVD. I compressed the MOV file with Compressor using the Apple-Best Quality DVD settings. I'm beginning to think stills and text will always look bad on TV. Is there a way to improve this? Is Compressor the best tool to compress my file?

Getting still images to look good at DV resolution and color depth can be a struggle.
    A couple of tips.
1.Do not use images with more pixels than you absolutely need. If you are in the US (NTSC) and the images don't have any pan/zoom moves, size them to 720x480 (DV pixel ratio) in Photoshop before importing them into FCP. FCP is not a very elegant scaler.
    2. Make sure the contrast in the images is under control. Keep the whites below 90.
    3. It the images have a lot of high contract detail (think leaves in bright sunlight), sometimes a slight vertical gaussian blur of .3-.5 pixels can help.
    4. If the total running time of the material is under 60 minutes, use a Constant Bit Rate of 6.5 or so in the Compressor settings.
If all of these don't really do it for you, and if the material is all stills, you might try to do the slide show in Fotomagico or Motion then output it as a video file for import into FCP.
    Good luck,
    x

  • Why such poor quality saturation and contrast with NEFs?

Having used Lightroom since the beginning, I'm at my wits end.
Ever since Lightroom 1, I've noticed that ACR does a really -really, bad job handeling NEFs when you push contrast and saturation, especially in regards to certain colors (reds, yellows, and blues).
I thought for a long time it was my side, originally using a consumer DSLR (D50), but it affects every NEF I've ever imported, from any Nikon body up to D4.
The saturation gets chunky with little effort (even after attempting to correct via the Calibration panel), the same when pushing contrast. Not pushing it beyond the files' limits, just a simple s-curve.
When importing other RAW formats, this is less often the case.
It's really frustrating to be able to rely on Lightroom doing and adequate job 75% of the time, and it makes me look bad in front of clients.
Has/ does anyone else run into this? Does anyone have any ideas, or tips as to avoiding this?
I really hate the UI of C1, but since it has started implementing cataloging I am getting more and more enticed to switch over completely, as even when I push things waaay too contrasty or overly saturated the results are still miles better.
I'm an unabashed Adobe fanboy with fond memories of the introduction of Levels (Oooooo) back in the day, but I'm feeling I've been pushed to a point where I have to default to whatever program does a better job handeling RAW info, and ACR is not cutting it at a professional level.

Well, I don't know how to explain it any better, I feel I put it pretty straight forward, however here's an example from a small lookbook. The red is not accurate, everything else is.
The only thing I've ever come up with is possibly some 'Out of Gamut Warning' option that I haven't found to disable, twenty_one. However, no, I do know Lightroom VERY well, just not 100%, maybe 95%. When Soft proofing for monitor, all colors in the example are within gamut in sRGB, AdobeRGB, and my calibrated monitor color space.
I've almost exclusively run into this with NEFs, I've used Lightroom with Canon, PhaseOne backs, Leaf backs, Fujis, and more. Oh, and I am a pro, and have worked a wide range of clients from Harper's, Elle, and BEBE, to RED, Playboy and more -not to toot my horn, but to establish I'm not a green.
I'm on Lightroom 5, current build.
Typically I stay with the Adobe Standard Profile or Portrait, but none seem to help this particular issue.
Not sure what sort of NEFs Nikon produced in '76, but I to have been with Adobe since Photoshop 2. I'm viewing on a calibrated monitor in good viewing conditions. I don't print, this is most commonly an issue with lookbooks and catalogs when they need perfect color, the issue remains when viewed on other monitors. I've also tested images on my studio's Eizo CG276 and run into nealry exactly the same results (nearly in that there are pixels of difference, however it's a different size than my normal editing monitor).

  • Videos .avi with poor quality on iDVD.

I am new user on Mac. I work with soccer match analysis and I have to use the softaware on windows plataform.
I creat videos (.avi) with good quality if I watch on Windows Media Player or TV. When I watch on my Mac, they have a real poor quality (defocused and trembled).
I used to creat my videos on this software (windows) and I burn de DVD on iDVD.
Do I have to convert my .avi videos to any other extension file?
When I converted my .avi files to .ogm files the quality was better, but I couldnt use these files on iDVD.
Are there anything that I could try to get better quality on my video files?

    Hi
I would convert the .avi to streamingDV and use this in iDVD.
    .avi
You can use MPEG-Streamclip to convert the AVI files so that QuickTime can play them
    and to streamingDV for iMovie.

  • Poor quality in placeholder

    Hello all,
I've just recently starting using After Effects and it's very impressive.
I purchased a project file from videohive.com, it's a few seconeds long and is basically a logo reveal.
I opened up the placeholder where the logo is meant to sit, and I imported a vector version of our logo and added the text.
The problem is, everything within the placeholder seems to be of very poor quality before and after the video is rendered.
    See here: http://speedy.sh/d9Vn4/example.mp4
Is there something I am doing wrong here? The "values and achievement" text is of high quality with no blurring or pixelation, the same goes for the blue surrounding effects, but anything within "logo" (as it is called on the timeline), is very poor as you can see from the video.
    Many thanks
    Nick

Fantastic, that worked a treat - thank you

  • Poor Global Service and Support

Has anyone else experienced such poor quality phones and service with the Global Services?  I got a rental phone from Verizon last week but the one they mailed to me was defective.  The charge cable would not connect in without you having to hold and push it in very hard.  Hardly useful traveling and having to spend your vacation physically holding your charge cord into your phone.  So I called, they swapped which was nice.  Got it to me the day before the travel date which seemed good at the time.  However, the new phone had the same exact problem.  Too late to change out now.  Had to tie an elastic band around the cord so it didn't have to be held personally.  Of course it was my mother-in-law going on vacation who I got the phone for so not a good situation when I had to explain it to her.  Got one call from her stating that the phone no longer connected with the elastic but had to be physically held now.  Phone was also not holding a charge correctly so it was one that ran out almost immediately after a few min. call to home.  Plus, dialing the same way the phone would not connect to some phone numbers.  They would just get an operator who didn't speak English who would disconnect them.  Nights spent on vacation holding a cord into the phone only to have it be dead during the daytime when out and about and you needed it.  Two phones and terrible experience.  On top of that I wrote an email to Global Services last Wednesday to complain about it and see if they could help.  I work on the phones during the day so email is more convenient.  No reply from them at all.  Nothing.  Let's see if they ever reply to me.  In this instance the repeated problems demand that the cost of the phone be waived.  Do they step up and do the right thing or not?

    Hello bjeong1381,
Thank you for visiting the forum and for being a loyal Best Buy customer as is evident by your Elite Plus status. Personally, I'm a movie lover, and I'm always on the look out for the newly released movies. Like you, as soon as I see a release I've been waiting for, I head over to the store to pick it up; therefore, I would also be pretty frustrated if it wasn't available to begin with, and then I had to call several times to find out when I would finally receive it. It sounds like Denise was not very helpful, and I sincerely apologize if she was rude, and uncaring to your situation.
We expect you to receive no less than stellar customer service every time you visit our stores or call our customer support center. I appreciate very much you taking the time to share your experience, and I assure you I have documented your experience. I also would like to further discuss some details with you, so I will be sending you a private message. • IOS 5 Sound Quality and Sound Check issues

So since upgrading my iPod to iOS 5 the sound quality of my music has deteriorated massively and sound check no longer works as it should.
Tracks sound crackly and audio volume will remain balanced for a few tracks when sound check is on, then all of a sudden become completely unbalanced and all over the place. My iPod is only just about useable, it's a bit of a disaster that its main feature doesn't work as it should.
Everything else in my iOS5 works as it should.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Richard.

Since I bought iPhone4 and listened my songs with "Ipod app" and external speakears I was amazed how brilliant, sharp, intense, clear, perfect bass, perfect trebble the sound was, there was no distortions or saturations ever... The sound quality was just PERFECT with the equalization OFF!!!  Not remember if I had SoundCheck ON before but now it doesn't make any difference. I installed iOS 5 over 4.3.1 or so and now sound is just more like noise compared to iOS 4,  I have selected all presets or equalizations but ALL are poor, maybe some presets work better with some songs but still they are poor.... Songs did not have clarity!! The volume force was like degraded, now I have to set higher volume to produce same force than before with less volume... iOS 5 max volume (100%) is like iOS 4.2.1 85-90% of volume. Difference is that iOS 5 maximum volume starts slightly to distort or saturate audio quality... before with iOS 4 sound quality was Crystal Clear even with max volume!!! In short SOUND QUALITY is DEGRADED... or perhaps I'm a very critical and nonconformist guy in terms of audio quality... this kind of degradation is quite notorious when one loves music!! or is there some other configuration I'm missing here??
    Totally agree with Richard!!
At first I thought it was a problem with my phone... I used to believe iOS 5 was engineered for new iPhone 4S hardware and since it is shipped with dual-core processor, I thought my phone was short in resources!!!
Why max volume is lower in intensity???
Why equalization with the EQ Off changed?? All my songs were stored on iTunes, they must have same sound quality properties as they were when first ripped..
I hope Apple enginneers did not sacrifice volume output force in favor of saving some battery, because normally we charge battery when listening music at home with our personal speakers equipment.
I would like to understand the reasons why the new "Music App" was "changed", and why these changes have to go backwards!! That is sad... because for iPhone or iPod lovers music was always important.
    thanks

  • My ipod touch 4 music quality is much poorer with IOS 6 upgrade. How can I get IOS 5 music quality back?

My ipod touch 4 music quality is much poorer with IOS 6 upgrade. How can I get IOS 5 music quality back?
No available eq setting is acceptable.
Right now, I feel like driving a nail through it.

Me again. I cleaned out the headphone jack with a q-tip soaked with rubbing alcohol. Most of the q-tip fibre was removed to be able to insert it into the jack. After pushing and turning fairly vigorously for a half minute, I pulled it out and a large piece of pocket lint came out with it as well. The Ipod now sounds excellent.

  • Why has Siri's voice become poor quality in IOS7 ? The old voice was much more human like and not so fuzzy

Just updated to the latest ISO7, unsure yet if I like the look, but know that Siri's voise is now poor quality and less human like. The old voice was far better quality and an enjoyment to hear, the new one makes me not want to listen to it now I have heard the old one...

Same here. I use SIRI in Germany and the quality of SIRI in GM was way better. Now the voice sounds more "robotic" like the SIRI voice in IOS 6
Oh, a friend of mine uses IOS7 on his Iphone 5 and the voice-quality of SIRI is WAY better. I´m using a Iphone 5S... Can anyone confirm that this problem only exists on the Iphone 5S?

  • MBP Retina FaceTime HD Camera has very poor quality and artifacts.

Hey guys, the camera on my 2012 MBP 15' Retina has ridiculously poor quality. After recieving it I had got major artifacting while using the camera for skype, facetime and Google+. Usually the artifacting would continue (many multi-colored horizontal lines across the screen of the camera) until finally the bars would disappear maybe one or two bars would remain, regardless it was usable. I noticed, however, the quality was attrocious, but I assumed it was just how it was supposed to be (very surprised for a $2300 laptop). Recently my friend purchased the same laptop, after looking at his FaceTime HD camera, I realized mine was simply an attrocious fluke, my camera had ridiculous blurring and grain and awful light sensing. I am still under warranty until November 23rd, 2013. What are your opinions on how to get this resolved?
    Here are some pictures:

Call AppleCare which you should have done from day one.

You had 14 days from the date of purchase to return your computer.  No questions asked!

  • Extreme poor quality in full screen preview and exported movie

I have spend evenings and evenings to create the content of a project.
After dealing with error -108 and extreme poor quality in full screen preview and in exported movies (extreme stuttering) I decided to install my iMac new again.
The error -108 disappeared, but the extreme stuttering still remained in full screen preview and in exported movies.
If I make the preview screen in the iMovie browser as big as possible there is nothing to see of any stuttering.
Now I am getting pretty annoyed and have no clue what to do anymore (how to solve this problem) .....
    Anyone any suggestion ?
The orginal video was recorded with a Panasonic HD camcorder.
I do have a mid 2011 iMac with 16GB ram and 256GB SSD and 1TB HD with a complete clean installation
of OS X Lion and iLife. This configuration should be enough to create a proper movie :-(

Potentially, yes. The standard Preview is 1024 pixels, longest size. Some people (like Omke) have displays 2560 pixels longest side, potentially increasing file size by over 500%.
