IOS 7 refresh

PLEASE HELP: iOS 7 works fine on my iPhone 5s, likely because it was designed with this device in mind. However, on my iPad 2, it's a totally different story. Switching between apps causes the pages to refresh. This is annoying because often it means the original page location is lost or, in the case of Safari, a form is cleared. I unsuccessfully tried the following remedy:
Settings > General > Background App Refresh

This is simply down to a lack of memory (RAM - not storage). iOS 7 uses more memory than previous versions, therefore there is less free memory for apps to use. Switching between apps means they have to purge the memory more often causing the content to refresh when switching back.
Unfortunately, there's nothing really you can do to alleviate it. I even get it on the latest iPad Air, and it is really frustrating when I've typed a nice long reply on these forums, switch to a new Safari tab to look something up, switch back and the forum refreshes losing all my work. I often find alternative browsers work better for that though.

Is there a way to refresh a subscribed calendar in iOS?

I'm pretty confident at this point I'm out of luck, but I thought I'd ask the question with maybe different (or maybe not) phrasing than it has before.
Basically, via iCal on Lion, I subscribed to a google calendar .ics feed. I set the refresh to every 5 minutes, plus I can manually refresh. When they add a new event, I get it pretty quickly using one of those methods.
I have it set as an iCloud calendar, so I can see the subscription on my iPhone. However, when they add a new event, I do NOT see that show up on my iPhone at any particular interval.
I've tried looking at my list of calendars and hitting the refresh button, but that's no help. The one thing that definitely works is to restart the phone, but that, of course, is not convenient.
Is there a way to force iOS to refresh subscribed (not shared) calendars?

it looks like they took out the "Show" option under Mail settings completely and added a Flag choice instead. Don't know why.

List Tile View not working with include rule on iOS?

I used the List Tile View with include rule in Agentry 6.0 on WinCE before to generate "selected" object list upon different conditions, e.g., assigning tasks based on scenarios.
Currently, I am experimenting the same function on iOS tablet.
On the start screen which is a detailed screen for main object, there is a List Tile View and an include rule. However, the objects in the tile list are not updated correctly when the output of the rule changes. Note that the same include rule works perfectly with a List View for the same collection.
To my observation, the problem seems to associated with "update" of the tiles when result of include rule changes. For example, in scenario 1, there are 5 objects in the list; switching to scenario 2, there are 10 objects. From the No.6 to No.10, the objects are correct. The No.1 to No.5 are still the original 5 objects for scenario 1.
When the user clicks on tiles, it makes the situation worse. Normally, a single object's tile will always be shown in the selected tile regardless which tile is selected from the list.
My development environment is 6.0.40 and the client is 6.0.40 on iPad (iOS 7.1). I would like to know whether this is a known issue before I provide more details.

When I asked the question on this list tile view refreshing issue, my dev environment is Agentry 6.0.38.
In Agentry 6.0.40.1's release note, there is a fixed
AG-25821 iOS 7 refresh issue with iPad tile list
However, I currently have Agentry 6.0.42.1 on iPad (iOS 7.1.2). And my editor/server is 6.0.42.0. I still have the list tile view refreshing issue. The same rule can be used on list without any problem. But the list tile still has trouble on display the right set of objects.
My question is is that fix related to the problem I saw?

Missing songs in Smart Playlists on iOS

I use smart playlists a lot. For example I have a playlist like this:
"Rating" IS "5 stars"
"Last played" NOT WITHIN "6 months"
"Media Type" IS "Music"
"Last Skipped" NOT WITHIN "7 days"
When I start iTunes I have 447 songs in this playlist, on iOS I only have 430 songs. Where might this difference come from? Although the iOS list shows less songs, I found at least 2 songs which should not be on iOS as they were played 2 weeks ago. Can I cause the Music Player on iOS to refresh the playlist? On iTunes I have a flag "Live updating" set.
By the way, I tested this with iTunes on a mac which does not have my main library, so iTunes only show songs which where matched correctly. So it is not a matching problem!
Any idea?

Ok, it is a monologue up to now, but when I search at google for my problem I already find my own thread, so I will also share my latest findings:
The problem is definately caused by the "last played" field. This is not synced correctly between two iTunes Libraries (and I guess it is the same on iOS, but there is no way to check the "last played" information on iOS). The same song has different dates on my two macs. So in my opinion no smart playlist using "last played" will work correctly when using iTunes Match.
The only way to get the "last played" field in sync again, is to deactivate and activate iTunes Match on each device. But they are only in sync for short time. As soon as I start playing songs, they are not updated correctly via the cloud.

Can see OS X Numbers sheet on iOS, but won't open

I can see a copy of my Yosemite OS X Numbers-created spreadsheet saved to iCloud on my iPad Mini 2 running 8.1, but it appears "grayed out" as compared to other visible sheets/files. The others open in iOS, but the greyed out one won't. It will open on Mac Mini. Is there some sync trick that needs to be tried?

Same here. I can open and edit on iCloud.com. I see the iOS version refresh (the document moves to the top of the documents view) but remains grayed out, and won't open. I've tried killing Numbers but that's not helped.

Large Apple Network Problems

Hi,
I manage a large house hold which currently has 10 connected Airport Expresses/Extremes creating a roaming network throughout the household.
Each setup with the same network name and security settings.
One problem we come across is when performing particular activites such as streaming or even printing, something that requires a constant connection. The activity is interupted and sometimes stops (i.e. printing stops halfway through).
I'm assuming this is where devices are latching on to other routers.
This can happen when :
When moving from room to room (mobile devices - laptops)
When a device is in a fixed location (printers / mac pro's)
What can I do to prevent this situation/ What are the best practices?

to clarify, streaming is interrupted just randomly? i assume you're not moving the streaming setup, right? because if you're streaming on a laptop and you start walking around the home, you will get blips as it loses one signal and catches another.
if you're streaming on an appletv to a tv (all items are fixed), then the streaming should be stable unless someone else starts a really network intensive task
computers are much better than iOS about refreshing onto the strongest signal; you'll have more issues with iOS devices that grab a signal at one part of the house and as you walk away, they will not keep refreshing for another signal until that prior signal is lost - to fix this, you should have users turn wifi on/off when they are in the new location to make sure the iOS clients is immediately connecting to the best signal
you could also be introducing too much wifi overhead depending upon how many airports are extending wirelessly, it actually makes the wifi worse, from apple

What do you mean it "stopped updating"?
Does it display some sort of error in an alert view?
If so, the fix it would depend on the error. You may have to re-enter the account password in settings or you could try removing and re-adding the account.
Is it just that new emails don't pop up on her phone?
You may want to get familiar with the refresh button (iOS 5) / refresh gesture (iOS 6) or you could try restarting the mail app (don't be in mail app, double tap home button, hold down on mail icon, tap red x button on jiggling mail icon, reopen mail).

How do I get iOS devices to refresh it's artwork for my iCloud Library?

I turned on iTunes Match on my Apple TV (2nd gen) & iPad and they started showing me my iCloud Music Library (one that got generated after I purchased iTunes Match on my MacBook Pro). Everything's good till this point. I then made several edits to the metadata tags within iTunes on my MacBook Pro. Also cleaned out some custom artwork I had some embedded pictures in the songs. I replaced them with the ones from the iTunes Store (which was basically deleting the embedded pictures and then doing a 'Get Album Artwork' command by right clicking on the songs). But the AppleTV & iPad are however still showing the old artwork. And I would like to see these new artwork there as well.
Its been more than 10 hours since I made these changes on my notebook. So I don't think it's a matter of timing. I understand that the 'Get Album Artwork' command might have simply modified the local artwork on my MacBook Pro. And my iCloud music library still has the original uploaded artwork stored on Apple Servers. Is there anything that I can do to refresh the artwork stored within my iCloud account, on Apple Servers? If I could do that, I'm hoping that change would eventually propagate to my iOS devices as well. I tried unplugging the AppleTV and plugging it back in. And tried quitting (complete quit) and restarting the Music app on my iPad. But both of those actions didn't seem to help. I'd also like to note that other stuff like changes to song ratings etc are being propagated correctly to my other iOS devices. It's only the artwork that seems to be stuck.

IOS 7 Calendar stuck on September. View won't refresh.

Calendar on iOS 7 is stuck on september. On monthly view, it won't refresh the view past September. I can scroll down, but it will get stuck on Ocotber, with an empty view. If I click year view, it freezes. I've tried restarting the app, the phone and nothing. I will try restoring the iPhone to see if that helps.
But if any of you had a similar experience, and solved it, let me know.

When you restarted the app did you quit it first?
I would first quit the app then reset the phone.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app.
Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I still have an iPhone, but haven't turned it on for weeks. And there's no SIM in it, so no cell service, just WiFi. When I turn it on after a prolonged period of having it off (weeks), a bunch of messages popup that should have been forwarded to my new phone (same phone number and carrier as when I was an iPhone user) but appear to sit in iMessage queue indefinitely instead.
I'm guessing it has to do with the link that's made when an iPhone first realizes that it's talking to another iPhone and defaults, for all future texts, to iMessage. You know, the green to blue switch. How does that association get undone?
Has anyone else seen this, and if so, is there a fix?

Why does the new iOS 8.0.2 software refresh your apps if you back out to text or check another app? It's frustrating and its racking up my data charges and I really don't like it!

look I updated my phone to iOS 8.0.2 and now any time I back out of an app to text someone or check on another app it refreshes the page (if I'm on the internet) or the app and it's really annoying. If someone could please tell me how to fix this or just help get a new software up please do. It is racking up my data usage with all the refreshing and its getting really annoying and expensive.

Same issue here both with my iphone 5S as well as my iPad2. THe sync to my macbook air does not complete and it shows a large overcapacity level when connected, but once I disconnect there is plenty of room (4 GB) available, not a 20 GB overage.

In iOS 7, apps refresh themselves when switching back to them

I often work with one app and switch to another app, then return to the original. After upgrading to iOS 7, it seems that apps (or web pages in Safari) now sometimes refresh or reload themselves when I switch back to them rather than simply presenting me with what I had before. It's not a behavior I like. For instance, say I'm looking at a photo in my photo app Photo Manager Pro. I switch to another app, then when I come back, Photo Manager Pro seems to reload itself and starts all over at its splash screen, so it takes extra tapping to get back to the picture I was looking at. And Safari sometimes refreshes web pages when you return to Safari from another app.
It seems to happen sometimes but not others, and I can't figture out the pattern.
I don't think this has to do with the "Background App Refresh" feature as none of these auto-refreshing apps are in the apps list under Settings -> General --> Background App Refresh.
Any help in figuring out what's going on?

Bug in iOS world clock not refreshing?

If I view the world clock in iOS 7 and leave to another app for a few minutes/hours, and then return to the clock app, the world clock remains at the time I last viewed it. It appears to not refresh to the latest time. The only way to update the clock is if I view something else in the clock app such as alarms etc. or tap it from digital to analog and back.
Does this happen to you?

Hi Ckuan, the issue is back. I think it's a bug. Here is another screenshot.
Steps to repeat:
1. view the world clock in digital view (I have tested with 11 clocks)
2. leave the world clock as-is and go to other apps
3. go back to the world clock after several minutes/hours without touching the clocks
If you scroll the clocks, it can refresh to the latest time. Some clocks are already refreshed. Some are at the last time viewed.
This issue can happen with or without automatically setting the time. When travelling, I turn off several features. I noticed this when I nearly missed a meeting and quoted a time incorrectly.

How often do Background App Refreshes occur in iOS 7?

In iOS 7, some apps can now update their data even when the app is not open. This feature is called "Background App Refresh". How often does each app update their content using this method? Is it up to the app to determine the frequency, or does iOS 7 limit them?

Why does there need to be a limit imposed? Perhaps it'd be appropriate for some app to update once a minute.
I can just imagine the havoc that would be caused if Apple limited turn-by-turn navigation apps to a 15-min update window, just as an example.
