IOS 7 thousand of emails

There are have been a number of people with this problem:
"I just updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.  Now I have thousands of unread emails!!!  But they've actually been read.  What do I do to fix this?"
The typical answer is:
"You must be using POP.  Switch to IMAP." and then some details follow.
Well, in my case I am using IMAP.  Furthermore, I am also using @mac.com (aka: @icloud.com, @me.com).  And I have thousands of unread emails all of a sudden.  I also have a regular email account -- hosted here where I work -- and it's using IMAP as well.
Any suggestions?

  • I delete emails by putting them in trash.  I have even deleted all mail.  It all reappears no matter what I try!  The mail icon shows I have thousands of emails and I can't get rid of them!  Please help!!

I asked a question about deleting deleted emails but after trying to delete all mail, it said no mail but it still keeps reappearing.  The mail icon on the main screen says I have thousands of emails.  I've rebooted, hit the trash one by one but they still come back!   I'm going nuts!

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Safebooting disables Launch Agents/Daemon and Third Party Kernal extensions. Here's the article to Safeboot OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support

  • I just dumped thousands of emails from my icloud storage, but I'm still not getting new emails....I'm no where near full at this point....how do I get my email back

I just dumped thousands of emails from my icloud storage, as it was full.  That was about 35 hours ago, I'm still not getting emails.  I'm no where near full now....how long before I will get emails again?

Does anyone have an answer to this problem? It's been 4 or 5 days now and iCloud still says I have 0kb of 5GB available, and 6.1GB of mail on iCloud. I guess that's better than yesterday when it said I had 8.3GB of mail. Does anyone know if it simply takes Apple a week to actually empty a mailbox?
thanks in advance, hopefully tomorrow it says I have only 4GB of non-existent mail and I can start using it again...

  • Just got a new macbook air I added 2 google email accounts to the mail program.  The mail downloaded thousands of emails and now on the top right hand corner I get bombarded by notification of these emails from 3-4 years ago and it is non stop.

When I added 2 gmail accounts to my new macbook air.  The email program download thousands of emails and now I am getting notifications non stop on the top right hand corner from years ago it is non stop notification for the emails from like 2007 really old emails.  I am not sure why it is notifying me of old emails I know it is new just downloaded in the program but it should only notify me of recent emails shouldn't it?

If your email client (Mail) it set to never delete emails from the server,  they stay there waiting. The server doesn't track what you've already downloaded, so a new setup of Mail just grabs whatever it finds on the server. You can change this in Settings, but for now, you have all your old emails to sort.

  • How do I delete thousands of emails on my Ipad3

How do I delete thousands of emails on IPad3, without doing them one at a time?

Hi, You can easily delete multiple email messages from the iPad by using the Mail's edit feature. The button on the top right side of the inbox is the edit button. Touching this button will put your inbox into edit mode.
Once your inbox is in edit mode, you can select multiple messages by touching each message you want to delete. You then have the option to either delete them by pressing the delete button at the bottom of the screen or moving them to a specific folder by touching the move button.

Contact htem? No, I wouldn't think so, I'm not familier with fuse.net. Most ISPs adn email providers have web pages that can be used to acces your account settings and email. That may provide a means of selecting multiple emails and deleting them (but probably not 22,000 at a time).

  • TS3899 iOS 7: sort email by most recent date?  Beyond frustrating.

iOS 7: sort email by most recent date?  Beyond frustrating.

Agree. Mail search results are nearly useless, sorted in effectively random order. Major Apple FAIL.
Removing the other search buttons (from, subject, etc.) is also frustrating. Went from one-click simplicity to having to type in 'from:'.  Serious inconvenience.  Completely failed the WWSS (What would Steve Say?) test.

  • Is it bad for the computer to save thousands of emails?

    Hi,
I have been told that it is bad for the computer to save thousands of emails... unless I somehow turn them into documents.
Is this true? And if so, how would you go about doing this? I find it very useful to go back and look through emails for certain things...
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi there,
It is my understanding that problems may arise if you store a large amount of e-mail messages in the Inbox (and maybe also in the Sent box). I like to keep a large amount of e-mail also and what's been recommended is to create new mailboxes and drag the messages you wish to store into these. You may name them with descriptive names that will help you with categorization. To create the boxes, go down to that little "+" sign at the bottom lefthand corner of the Mail window. There is supposedly some max size your Inbox needs to stay beneath for Mail to function correctly, but you can let the size of these extra boxes get very large without problem.
There are also ways to archive e-mail completely outside of Mail, but I've never done this myself. A search of discussions will probably yield more information on that technique. But a good thing to do right now is to create additional mailboxes as I've outlined above.
    Post back. Good luck.
    Steve M.

  • Mailbox has "archive" with thousands of emails in it, probably every email I've sent. What would happen if I deleted them?

My Mail has a mailbox labelled "Archive."  There are literally thousands of email
in it, probably a copy of every email for many years.  What would happen if I
    deleted these?

If it is a Gmail account, that is normal. How do you expect Google to exploit your privacy if they let you just delete your emails willy nilly?
GGmail isn't a normal IMAP server. It's not really an IMAP server at all; it just pretends to be one.
Instead of organizing messages into folders, it tags messages with "Labels." A message can have multiple Labels. By default, a new message comes with an "Inbox" Label and an "All Mail" Label. When you "delete" an email from GMail, it merely removes the "Inbox" label, but keeps the "All Mail" label.
When Apple revamped Mail, it made it more capable of working with GMail. One of those things was to map the "All Mail" label to the Archive folder in Mail. Now you can see how Google has kept all of the email you thought you were deleting.
Take a look at this article and the follow up article it links to: http://jeffschuette.com/2012/03/07/setting-up-apple-mail-to-rock-and-roll-with-g mail/
I used it to set up Mail and GMail so that when I delete an email in Mail, it also deletes it from the GMail server.
Most ost of the firat article is no longer needed, except the step to force deletion of emails.

I have thousands of emails on my IPad that I would like to delete permanently.  How can I do this?

    Hi
I know this feature isn't the most intuitive but I found out how to do it all at once.
Go to the mail box you want the messages deleted from (probably the Inbox of your most used Email Address)
    Tap Edit
Tap the circle left of the first message on the list to select the first email message
Put your finger on Move but don't release it!
With another fingerdeselect the first message so there are no messages selected
Remove your finger from the Move button.
Select the mailbox you want the messages to be moved to (probably Trash)
    Hope this helps!

  • What is the quickest way to delete thousands of emails?

What is the quickest way to delete thousands of emails?

If you are using Apple Mail, you should be able to select a whole bunch of them at once and delete them (there are two commands for this under the Edit menu, Select All and Delete), then empty the Mail trash.
If you are reading an email account through a web browser, they should provide a way to select multiple files. Usually it is a checkbox at the top of a column that selects the entire column when checked. If they let you increase the number of messages visible at once, you can select more at a time.

  • TS3899 how do i delete all of my thousands of emails from my iphone 5

How do I clear out of my thousands of emails on my Iphone 5? I don't want to do each one!

If you have an IMAP email account delete them from another device and they will disappear from your phone. If it is a POP3 account delete the account, reboot the phone by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears, then recreate the account. There is no mass delete feature on the iPhone, beyond tapping "edit", check the messages to delete by tapping them, then tapping "delete".

  • My mac mail on just keeps sending the same messages even after deleted and shows thousands of emails supposed to be coming in

My mac mail on just keeps sending the same messages even after deleted and shows thousands of emails supposed to be coming in

If you have a backup, you can restore the e-mails. Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Library/Mail/V2.
