if a Mac OSX Computer is in near - try iBackup Viewer.
This is free of charge and can read your backup.
and thats the main difference. Those tools are reading the saved Data in the backup
but itunes attempts to restore the data from the backup on your iphone. if there are any corrupted data in the backup - the backup restore goes wrong. this can happen during security software or wrong corrupt data already stored on the iphone.
if itunes messed up to restore from backup try this one :
- restore your iphone to factory settings using HT1808 or reset all settings and content direct from iphone
- rename your iPhone (e.g. iPhone Test)
- setup your iPhone as new device -> attempt to make a new backup - if successful -
- click in itunes on restore from backup... and choose your desired backup
or go to:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(Username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista - Windows 7: \Users\(Username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Pull your complete BackupFolder and try a different PC - copy the BackupFolder on this different PC in the same Path above - start iTunes and see if your Backup is there - attempt to restore from Backup again

I tried to update my iPhone 4s to the ios 6 and it wouldn't download and my phone will not work. I started the download and it said that it had 6 hours remaining, so i just left it overnight. The next morning it was working fine, but the ios 6 didn't download. I looked at it later and it had the turning on screen with the loading bar under it. It stayed like that for a while and the bar didn't move. I needed to use my phone so I tried to make it go to the home screen, but nothing happened. I held down the lock and home button for a few seconds and everything went black. I tried to turn it back on and all it has done all day is stayed on the turning on screen. I tried plugging it into the wall, and nothing happened. I tried connecting it to iTunes, and nothing happened. I don't know what I need to do to get it to work.

I upgraded my iPod Touch 4th gen to IOS 6.1 and now it won't sync with iTunes?
After upgrading to IOS 6.1, my iPod Touch won't sync. This is really frustrating as I want to add new music etc.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

i was trying to update ios and after i was complete i can not do anything with my phone now it just shows the charger with an arrow pointing to the itunes symbol,
i cant get out of that, what can i do?Most likely it is showing an cable connecting to an iTunes symbol which indicates the device is in recovery mode.
Connect the device to a computer running iTunes and restore. -
I have tried updating to the latest iTunes, but I am currently running Mac OSx 10.5.8, so I can´t go that route. Any suggestions?
I followed the thread and used the link provided to download iTunes version 10.6.3 (again). The same error message keeps coming up, telling me that I do not have it installed. I tried restarting the computer following the install, but it still won´t acknowledge that 10.6.3 is installed. Any other solutions?

IPhone 4s updated to ios 6 and now hangs on apple logo screen! Any ideas please?
Hi, my friend has updated her iPhone 4s to iOS 6 a week ago and since then it just randomly crashes and she's left with just the apple logo screen flashing on and off. After several attempts to restore the iPhone it's finally restored as a new phone and was working fine until she switched the phone off. When switching it back on its got as far as the logo screen and again it's just flashing on and off and has been for the last 30 minutes.
As the phone was absolutely fine before installing iOS 6 we have assumed its a bug with that rather than a problem with hardware.
Has anyone else had this problem after installing iOS 6 or do you think it's a coincidence and it in fact the phone itself that needs looking at?
Any useful suggestions would be much appreciated.Yeah think she's going to take it back to the shop as its not even a year old yet! It eventually stopped flashing on and off the apple logo and the whole screen went blue! Rebooted it and it's again back to the flashing apple screen.
Hopefully they can fix or replace it.

Is the wifi optoin greyed out? If so, go to Settings>General>Reset and reset nerwork settings. You will need to reenter any wifi passwords you had previously saved. If that dosn't work, backup the phone and restore it http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 this will walk you through all that. Just make sure you setup your phone as new and test the wifi before restoring from backup.

Receiving error (-50) and my phone will not restore
Please help.. my phone will not restore the back up on my itunes. Whenever I plug in my phone it asks me to continue my restore but then I get the Error (-50) message. Any ideas on what I need to do?

Error 9: This error occurs when the device unexpectedly drops off the USB bus and communication stops. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB isolation troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
Make sure you are not connected through a usb hub; connect directly to the usb port on your computer. Also be sure your usb to dock cable is good, that your case isn't interfering with a good connection to your phone and that the cable and connector on your phone are clean. Also try disabling any security software. -
When I disconnect my iphone 3gs(iOS) from computer, the device disappears from my itunes. This prevents me from doing a wireless sync. how do i fix it so that my device stays on itunes without having to plug it in all the time?
it worked the first few times i did it but the next day after i closed out of itunes once, the device only appears when i plug in my phone.Whenever a menu choice is grayed out, that is because you have Restrictions turned on in Settings. Be sure to turn it off.
You are confusing an itunes store account with an icloud account. You two can continue using the same ID for itunes (thus sharing purchased music, apps, etc.), but you really should have separate accounts (different IDs) for icloud, since an account is intended for one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
To create a new icloud account, go to
http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Then go to Settings>icloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete Account. (have restrictions turned off) That will disconnect the device from the account but will not delete data in icloud or other devices. Then sign in using the new ID. -
Erased all content on 3G but now won't sync with iTunes. Error states, "This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started." I don't want phone service on this old 3G. Just want to use it as an iTouch. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have connected my iPhone 5 to iTunes, backed it up and then started the update but there was a problem, now my phone will not work, it asks to restore factory settings which I have tried 3 times, each time it says the device has an unknown error and the phone switches off. Please help.
Same thing happened with my iPhone 4S - no one is any help. Thanks Apple for such a crappy update! I've called Apple, they say the SIM card needs replacing, I go to my service provider they tell me nothing wrong with the SIM card - provider tells me I now need a new phone. Sheesh! If someone has a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated.

Since I upgraded to iOS 7.1.2, new Outlook calendar and contact items will not sync to/from my iOS devices - I am not using the iCloud, just sync'ing direct to/from laptop. Neither direction seems to be working.

I was trying to update my phone to ios 7. There was an error and it stopped. Now my phone will not turn on.
Try recovery mode as described here. You may have to try to enter recovery mode more than once to succeed.

Hi, getting Could not save the document to the repository for the following reason: [repo_proxy 30] DocumentFacade::uploadBlob - Query execute has failed : Error occurred while attempting to reconnect to CMS : Not a valid logon token. (FWB 00003) (hr=#0x80042a70) (WIS 30567) amongst lots of other errors when scheduling.
I was logged in as administrator and attempting to schedule a webi document to my self using the email option.

Could you please confirm if you could save a new report as well or not; or is it specific to scheduling.
If you are unable to save a report also then I think this is due to the path of the Input File Repository Server or its temporary directory are not pointing to the same path, and their locations are set to 2 different hard drives
BOXI3.1 Server must use the same hard drive (local or network share) for the Input File Repository Server and its temporary directory.
