Ios 7 update---no request

ios 7 update-no request
Hello, i have an ipod touch 16GB...but im not too sure what generation it is.
I was really excited too get the ios 7 update for it, but unfortunatly when ios 7 came out i checked for the update and i didnt have it.
even too this day i still havent recived the request to update my ipod touch from ios 6.1.3 to ios 7
I know that it most be possible for my ipod to get the new update (ios 7) because when i was looking on the apple website i saw the exact same ipod as what i have got, and on the screen it had the ios 7 update....so something is not right.
i tried contacting the live apple services to ask how i can get ios 7 but before "chatting" with them it said that i had to pay to chat unless i had ios 7.
i think that it was wrong, because i want to find out how to get ios 7.... but i cant unless i pay...so this is my only option left, to tell you guys.
so please help!

Sounds like you have an iPod 4th gen which is not capable of having iOS 7 installed.
If you need to have iOS 7, you need newer hardware that is capable of running it.

  • IPhone 4, iOS 6 update, and wifi - cannot browse WWW via DNS

Apologies for the long post in advance. Hopefully it's exhaustive enough for Apple to take notice.
    tl;dr:
updated iPhone 4 (VZW) to iOS 6 on home wi-fi. now phone will not browse to WWW on home wi-fi, EXCEPT WHEN BYPASSING DNS (ie, browsing by IP address). tried lots. no success
    full events detail:
I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 yesterday evening (via iTunes on my Win 7 x64 PC). Upon completion, I ran into some trouble trying to sign in with my AppleID in order to restore from my iCloud backup. Suspecting that Apple's servers were just experiencing trouble (though nothing indicated iCloud was down), I skipped signing in and went about my day. The rest of my settings copied across from my computer. At that point, I slept on it.
The following morning (today), I noticed that I still could not sign in, but was off to work and did not have time to examine it further. At the office, all seemed well, and I used the phone with the updated OS largely without issue, including connecting to two new wifi networks. Returning home, however, I noticed that the behavior was the same as the previous evening, ie I could not connect to things like the App Store in order to install updates, the web to look for information, etc. Now having time to troubleshoot, I pressed forward with the investigation and immediately found a number of support community and web threads detailing wi-fi issues on devices after updating to iOS 6. I followed the steps I found, but I still have the same issue. Below is the list of things I've attempted, to the best of my ability to recollect.
    1. forget network, rejoin - same symptoms
    2. power off phone, power on - same symptoms
    3. set wi-fi network HTTP proxy to Auto - same symptoms
    3. forget network, power off wi-fi, power off cellular data, power on wi-fi, rejoin network (same symptoms), power on cellular data (same symptoms)
    4. power off bluetooth (already done, no change), power on bluetooth - same symptoms
    5. forget network, airplane mode on, power on wi-fi, rejoin network - same symptoms
    6. clear cookies, cache, website data - same symptoms
    7. try another browser (Opera) - same symptoms
    8. try static IP on wi-fi network - same symptoms
    9. forget network, power off router, turn off wi-fi, power off phone, power on phone, reset network settings, power on wi-fi, power on router (after 5+ mins), rejoin - same symptoms
    10. restore phone to factory defaults (same symptoms) and restore from backup (same symptoms)
    11. enable SSID broadcast on router - same symptoms
    12. enable WMM on 802.1n router - already enabled, same symptoms
    13. disable 40MHz channels on 802.1n router - same symptoms
    14. set router to 802.1g operation - same symptoms
    15. remove wireless security from wi-fi network - same symptoms
    16. change SSID - same symptoms
    17. update router firmware - no updates available, also, same router was working prior to update and continues to work without trouble with all other wi-fi devices in the house
    18. try another router - already verified this works, but as a result of the particulars of this case, is not relevant as my home router is not at fault, so much as the update to iOS 6 is on my iPhone 4. as other routers work and as a factory restore did not resolve (prior to backup restoration), I also do not believe my iPhone 4 to be at fault, so much as the software update itself
Having exhausted all of those suggestions, I dug further. The phone was working without issue up until the moment it needed to reboot to apply the downloaded iOS 6 update. I initially encountered the incorrect password scenario during the post-update configuration, but after forgetting and setting up the wireless profile from scratch (from the iOS 6 setup wizard), it joined my wi-fi network. The phone DID pull an IP address from my router, and responded to pings from other devices on my network without issue. In addition, using the Safari browser to web to a local network device, such as my router, was successful, indicating that the wi-fi network was established and routing appropriately. All other devices on the network, wired or otherwise, were working without issue. I then attempted to trace traffic and found that none of my phone's web requests were reaching my router, except for those targeted at the LAN. I then tried browsing to an IP to ensure there was not a DNS issue, and my phone browsed successfully. I then tried another site by domain name and failed, and then its IP and was successful. I verified against my router's logs that the web requests were routing through it to ensure that my cellular data wasn't taking over, and the logs confirmed it. At that point, I tried changing DNS from my standard servers to another set, but the behavior remained the same. I then tried setting my router as the DNS server, but the issue remained.
In conclusion, it appears to be some sort of DNS issue specific to the update. I would also hazard a guess that this is impacting people on the networks where they downloaded the update and/or were connected when the phone actually updated. I've tried setting the profile to use local, ISP, and public DNS servers, but as the requests never reach my router, I am inclined to believe it's being restricted by a setting on the phone itself. Because the problem persists through a factory restore, it would seem to point to all data not being truly erased during that process. Recall that I'm having the same issue prior to a backup being restored to the device, and that this issue prevents iCloud from being accessed during the setup process while on the problematic wi-fi network, so that should rule out the backup playing any part in the trouble.
    Any thoughts?

The OP is correct, I have done many tests.  With IOS6 there appears to be a dns issue in some cases with IOS for both ipad(2) at lease (my wife won't let me upgrade here v1) and the iPhone4s in my case.  Pretty easy to diagonse, I wish Apple would fix it.
1.) I use a Juniper 5GT wireless firewall and all of my other devices (many apple, ipad, MBP, iMAC,3 ipods etc) are fine: Not ipad2 or iphone4s running IOS6
2.) after upgrade nothing worked.  narrowed it down by messing with dns (I have my own dns server)
3.) Strange thing; dns works over MiFI (Verizon) and Carrier
4.) confirmed that it is a dns and not network issue.
-down load free tool called ping-scope-lite.   (obviously you need to turn off wifi to do this)
      http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ping-scope-lite/id431500107?mt=8
    turn on wifi
    - ping Level3 dns server 4.2.2.2 or Googlesdns servers 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 these worked.
-now ping by name google.com or ipchicken.com
       - try others; same result.
Apple did say that they would give me another iphone 4s: I just wasn't sure that would fix my issue.  I tried downgrading to 5.1.1 but I got an error saying my device wasn't able to do so (tried even blocking itunes from contacting Apple)  I whis this could be fixed.  I did even have it working using my own dns server but now I can see that my phone over wifi isn't even trying to make a dns request now.

  • HT1911 apple id wrong after ios 6 update

I recently performed the ios 6 update for my iphone 4s. The update when according to plan until i got to the set up part and it had my old apple id and wanted me to login, instead of my current apple id. How do I change my old apple id to the current one so i can continue on with the setup?

This happened to me too -- I had to change my AppleID 6 months ago when the old email address (AppleID) "died" ... It's been a NEW AppleID/email address for the last 6 months.
After updating my iPhone 4 to iOS6 a few days ago, the iPhone prompts me for the password to my OLD AppleID about every 10 minutes or so (or when I change apps). The prompt message does not indicate WHAT APP is requesting the old ID/password, and my AppleID IS CORRECT in the iTunes/App Stores settings. I am able to log into and do MOST things just fine -- it is just that SOME app or service is not reading my current App Store/iTunes settings, and is fetching the OLD AppleID from who-knows-where!
Hope someone "understands" the issue and identifies a resolution soon.

  • HT4623 Hello! So I have a iPod 5th generation, and I just had a recent update, it was for iOS 6.1.3, and now for some reason, I can't get the iOS 7 update. Could anyone help me?

Hello! So I have a iPod 5th generation, and I just had a recent update, it was for iOS 6.1.3, and now for some reason, I can't get the iOS 7 update. Could anyone help me?

Apple's servers are slammed right now with iOS 7 downloads AND activation requests.
Be patient and try again later.

  • HT5503 Every time I try to download the iOS 6 update on my iPhone 4 it tells me there us an error ????

Every time I try to download the iOS 6 upgrade it just tells me there is an error idk why I've tried almost everything I could think of

    Try these steps:
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone (or another iOS device)
See the steps below for error codes 3000-3999.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • How can I cancel the iOS software update?

For some reason, iOS 6 has decided to download on my iPod Touch through WiFi. I didn't request it, nothing is set to automatically update in the Touch settings, or iTunes. It seemed to start downloading when I  synced the Touch. I've disconnected the Touch from WiFi temporarily. How can I cancel the download, or will there be an option when it's done downloading to cancel the install?
    Thanks for any help...

I had the SAME problem & it was incredibly frustrating.  Having WiFi disabled for days caused me to eat up A LOT of my data plan.  It is total BS that there is no way to cancel an OTA download.  And it is total BS that no one can get ANY help on this issue.  There should be a way to cancel or at least downgrade if you don't like the newest iOS.
So, since Apple won't let you downgrade if you went ahead & installed it, and Apple won't help AT ALL if you don't want iOS 6, I had to figure it out myself.  Here's what I did....
The stupid iOS 6 update that nobody wants needs a certain amount of free space in order to download & install.  I had started the download & disabled WiFi like you did, so the download was paused.  While it was paused, I set my video camera to record & it sat there & recorded for like 2.5 hours (ugh) before it finally took up all the space on my phone.  Then, I went back in & enabled WiFi & checked the piece of junk iOS 6 install & it now said it couldn't download b/c there wasn't enough space.
I figured this solution still s ucks b/c now I can't download any apps or take any more pics or vids.  About 30 minutes later, though, I went back to the horrible iOS 6 download & a message popped up saying there wasn't enough space.  When I hit "OK" or whatever to clear the message, the screen had reset & gone back to the "download & install" button.  FINALLY I was able to stop the download & installation of iOS 6.  THANK GOD.  I want nothing to do with it, and there is NO WAY Apple is taking my Google Maps or YouTube.

  • Ios 5 Update New Features says that iCal now has a week view for iPhone but after updating last weekend, I don't see any week view--just List, Day and Month..How do I get the week view?

ios 5 Update New Features says that calendar now has a week view but after updating my iPhone 4 last weekend, I don't see any week view for iCal--just List, Day and Month as in the past. Is the weekly view available for iCal and if so, how do I access it?

    Rotate your phone to landscape.

  • Ever since I downloaded the iOS 6 update, my car stereo no longer works like it did before

My Pioneer car stereo worked exactly like it was supposed to with my iPhone 4s. By syncing to the car stereo, I could listen to all of my music on my iPhone and receive Pandora in the car.  Since I downloaded the iOS 6 update two weeks ago, my car stereo has basically become inert, no longer syncs to my iPhone and has turned my expensive car stereo into a glorified CD player.  I googled this problem first and noticed many other people had the exact same problem that I have.  Since I can't undo the iOS 6 update (****, I wish I could), is there anyone out there with a similar problem and is there anything to remedy this problem. I will never download an Apple update again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would love to see an update on issues like this.
I have the pioneer avh-3400bh.  Prior to iOS6 on my iphone 4, everything worked as it should.  Upon updating to ios6 on the 4, and now also with the iphone 5, my head unit will play BT audio, but it receives no track/data information.  Using USB, I can no longer use my phone to browse songs, I can only use the head unit control.  the phones tell me that an accessory is connected and won't allow me to do anything.  Same for the pandora app

  • After IOS 8 update.

    Hello,
    My Mobile details.
    Phone: I phone 4S - 8GB
OS: IOS 8 Updated on 20th Sep 14
    After updating below problems.
    1. While trying to add call to existing call (Trying to make con call) I can go to contact but when tried to search the names the key board appears with a blank white space without keys.
Con Call is difficult to make
    2. While trying to make call, It takes almost 1 second to go to call screen after tap on number.
    3. Top Message bar( Battery indicator, signal strength) goes black some times. only on coming back to home screen it come back.
    4. While searching the contacts, the last bottom contact remains down only, it doesn't come up even after moving it.
In IOS 7 it use to come up.
it feels irritated due to above glitch.

I tried all of the suggested solutions mentioned in this thread, and finally did a full reset according to Apple's instructions, step by step (as an engineer and 40 year computer user I am good at that stuff).
Sorry to say after the several hour process, not one of the problems I have experienced have been solved.
IPad 2 is still running slow and choppy.
Some Apps do not even load.
Website pages will not load and result in error messages. One particularly annoying Safari error on loading a new web page is:  "a problem occurred with this webpage so it was reloaded".
MY iPad  2 worked perfectly for the last couple of years through several updates that performed seamlessly, but this one and the two most recent corrected updates have rendered my iPad so degraded that I don't think I will be using it much anymore. I originally bought the tablet because of it's smooth GUI and fast performance, the reliability and error free environment, and Apple's proven record for effective updates. That's all gone now.

  • After ios 8 update on ipad mini. None of my apps connect to app store for in app purchases.

In app purchases worked before ios 8 update was installed on ipad mini. Restrictions are turned off. Can login to app store and purchase and download apps. Can't do in app purchases. Anybody else have this problem?

We have read that any apps that use the google map app (removed by ios6) will not work.  We have lost a great camping app for this reason, and have heard that some weather apps are not working either.  The company line we've been given is it's up to the app developer to rewrite their apps.  ***** doesn't it.

  • After IOS 8 update, cannot install or update app

As my subject mentioned, after the ios 8 update, i cannot install or update app.  I have done everything like calling the tech support, follow their instructions etc.. Some of the things i had done were
    Soft reset ipad
    Hard reset ipad
logout of itune store and login
delete everything on ipad and restore from itunes.
All these doesn't work and the problem keeps coming back again.  This is frustrating that Apple would release an update like this that would break my ipad air. On top of that, quite a lot of app are not working eg zinio, evernote.  My ipad air has been in this mode eversince the update release and i had mostly given up to resolve it.  For all other ipad owners, if you want to avoid this anguish don't update to ios 8.

You are not alone. Here's one thread
Why can't I download or update apps on iPad running iOS 8
If you have the WSJ app installed, delete it and see if that fixes things. It immediately fixed it for me, but not for all people with the problem.

  • After iOS 8 update, iBooks and Frequent locations.

So after the iOS 8 update I noticed iBooks taking up space up to 6MB when I do not have any iBooks. Also I noticed freque

    Try some basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new (data will be lost)
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
