IOS 7 wifi to remote speaker

I upgraded my 4S to iOS 7. The only music that would play was iTunes purchased, not ones loaded by CD. So i resored the phone, all OK.
Now it does not paly any music to wifi9 remote speakers, any ideas?

Just found a work around until this is corrected!  From settings, wifi, chose your network like always.  It should come up with the failure info about setting your browser to accept cookies ( make sure under Safari, block cookies, it's checked never). Hit ok under the failure code, then hit cancel in the upper right corner.  It should bring up choices at the bottom, including " use without internet". Chose that one, and it should put a blue check next to the wifi network you chose.
Now, open safari, and type in an email address, like www.google.com, and it will redirect you to the hotels site to submit your info.

  • Remote speaker is not compatible with this version of iTunes?

I'm having a problem connecting to my remote speakers when I want to play some music through iTunes. A display message appears stating: The remote speaker is not compatible with this version of iTunes.
I have the newest version of iTunes i.e. 7.0.2 and an Airport Express base station with all my software updated.
Does anyone have any ideas what I should do?

Airport Extreme Base Station "chained" to 2 Aiport Express Remotes. All connections are fine. Have internet on remote Macs. Airport Admin utility displays all three airport units, but I'm now unable to broadcast to the remote Express hooked up to my stereo in adjacent room. Have done this many times in the past without problem, but not in past couple months, so can't say if it broke with 7.1 or 7.1.1, but I get this message from iTunes:
The remote speaker "Living Room Speakers" is not compatible with this version of iTunes.
Prior to restarting iTunes (and being sure all Aiport station firmware was up-to-date, I was getting the message that no speakers were connected (double-checked all speaker and stereo connections), but now just the "not compatible" message.

  • What wireless speakers will work with the "remote speaker" feature?

I want to use the remote app on my iphone to control my itunes library and was considering purchasing some speakers to put out by my pool. My question is what kind of speakers will itunes detect? what technology are we talking about? RF, Bluetooth?

iTunes itself, that is it's built-in remote speaker function, will work only with an Airport Express. There may be other wireless speakers that have their own drivers or transmitter; someone else here may be able to make a recommendation.

  • "can't find remote speaker"

AirPort works fine for an hour or two, but then the audio dies and iTunes says (something like) "can't find remote speaker".
I have to disconnect from the network and connect again. "repairing wireless connection" also works.
Do you know of any way around this problem?
    Thanks,
    Peter

Try changing the channel used by your wireless network (or by the Airport Express itself if it is being used as a standalone device). Some experimentation may be required - start with either channel 1 or 11.

  • Itunes remote speaker using Airport Express and Extreme

I have purchased an Airport Extreme and Airport Express, so I can listen Itunes music on my stereo system. For some reason, there is simply no remote speaker selection button on the bottom right of the Itunes windows. Does it has to do with the fact that I am using an old Mac OS X?
My Macmini has no airport card, so I connected the ethernet to the Airport extreme, and plugged the Airport express few feet from the base. Nothing but an orange tilting light comes out of the little box. I can surf the net perfectly but the Itunes is ignoring all my investment on the couple of Airport boxes i purchase...What I am doing wrong?

Yes, I thought that purchasing the Airport extreme as
the ethernet interfase directly connected to the
MacMini, was almost the same as having the airport
card inside the Mini. Where did I get lost?? I have
the extreme directly to the mini, and an express
plugged somewhere close and nothing happens...
The problem is that the mini can only stream iTunes to an Airport Express via Airport. While you have connected it to an Airport basestation, as far as the mini is concerned, it is working via ethernet because that's how the data is leaving the system. It doesn't have an Airport card, thus it can't stream iTunes content to an Airport Express.

  • Remote Speaker (AirTunes) Error - "the network connection failed"

I am getting a strange error message when I try to stream music through an AirTunes remote speaker. iTunes tells me this:
*An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "NN". The network connection failed.*
I can't say what has changed for this error to occur. Last time I used the system it worked fine, now it doesn't. I do know I have upgraded iTunes a couple of times since, though.
I am connecting to an 802.11g AirPort Express running firmware version 6.3.
Both our computers (MacBook & MacBook Pro) run Mac OS version 10.5.8.
In my system, the AirPort Express functions solely as a wireless speaker client, as the WLAN network itself is based around an 802.11n AirPort Extreme.
The AP shows a green light, and reports no problems in AP Utility.
When I change the device's "iTunes Speaker Password" setting in AP Utility, iTunes in both our computers immediately reflect the change, so apparently the various parts in the system do speak to one another just fine. They just can't transmit music, for some reason...
Anyone have any idea what might be going on, here?

I have a similar problem. I use AE(g) with a Powerbook G4 and always get this error, which kind of bugs me, since all the settings appear to be correct. Unlike you though, I didn't make it work, not a single time — closing lid, opening and closing iTunes, resetting AE, yet no luck. Tried it all only with current versions of software.
However, the AE does sense when I unplug the speakers, since it first says "no speakers found", and then "the network connection failed". Strange is that the error has no number, nor does Console provide any clues. Sometimes it is pretty annoying when OS X just says "error". What error, where, why... Feels like good ol' windows times.

  • Connection to a remote speaker almost impossible

I’ve just bought an Airport Express few weeks ago and it’s still almost impossible to get a reliable connection to the remote speaker from within iTune 5.01.
The Airport Express is connected as remote station to an Airport Extreme base using WDS.
When I’m trying to connect to the remote speaker, I’m getting the message that the remote speaker is already used by another computer. Since I’m also using a PowerMac G4 (running 10.3.9 and iTunes 5.01) at home, I’ve switched off this machine, switched off and on the Airport Express : most of the time I’m getting the error message.
After this few weeks period, I would say that rate of successful connections is less than 10 %. I wasn’t able to determine why the connection is suddenly working…
    Any clues are welcome
    Cheers
    Pascal

But the issue is I need to connect to the remote
server and not my local machine. What am I doing wrong
in the connection string? What you are doing wrong is assuming you can use a "remote DSN". If you're connecting to a DSN it has to be on your own machine. You may be able to make that DSN refer to a database on another machine, though.
You also mentioned a "remote server". You're also making a mistake in assuming such a thing exists. Other databases have servers but Access doesn't.
The simplest thing to do, probably, would be to map a drive to the machine where your remote Access database is located and then to use a DSN-less connection to it. I don't recall just how you do that but if the forum search facility is working then you should be able to find out, as that information is posted here frequently. Or you could use Google, and it will usually give you links to this forum.

  • Remote speaker being used by someone else

Using iTunes 10.0.1.22 on Windows XP. Have Airport Express hooked up and am using the latest updates to AE. Was able to connect iTunes to AE just fine until I updated iTunes to 10.0.1.22. Now, I keep getting the error message "the remote speaker is currently being used by someone else. please select another speaker from the bottom of the iTunes window." I don't have another speaker, just Computer and the AE (which is connected to a receiver connected to speakers). I was able to listen to my iTunes library thru iTunes or Pandora with AE. I can still listen to Pandora, but every single time I try to listen to iTunes I get the same error message. I've been debugging this for 2 weeks to no avail. I've contacted RogueAmoeba and they have been great trying to help, but nothing works. I'm beginning to think this is an Apple/iTunes problem/bug.
In iTunes-Preferences-Devices, I do have "Look for remote speakers connected with Airplay" checked and "Allow iTunes control from remote speakers" checked which is supposed to allow you to control iTunes with a third-party remote connected to AirPort Express. I admit I'm not sure I understand Airplay and how it works or not works with Airport Express. I'm connected wireless to AE and my computer.
Any ideas what's wrong...this is driving me nuts and I miss my music!
    Thanks!

Then in that case since you get audio when the Apple TV is used with other devices I have to assume the problem lies with the receiver and with a little luck is nothing more than a setting.
The message about the speaker being used by someone else is interesting and possibly related possibly not. That message will appear if the Apple TV is already playing something and you try to play something else by Airplay. I assume when the Apple Tv is connected to your receiver you receive the message all the time, even if you play something from the Apple TV and let it finish. What about when you connect the Apple TV to another device, under what circumstances do you get the message then.

  • "The remote speaker ... is currently being used by someone else."

I hope someone can tell me the preferred way to get passed this message in respect to connecting to ATV speakers via iTunes on the computer.
I want to use multiple speakers via iTunes in my computer.
But when I try to connect to the speakers assigned to the ATV, I get the above "The remote speaker [name] is currently being used by someone else" message.
What do I need to do (in the ATV) to make the speakers accessible when this happens?

I get the same message and have been stuck with this for weeks since upgrade to iTunes 8, now running 8.02 and did a firmware upgrade on airport express to 6.3 but still no joy...anybody got any other ideas ? I'm about to give up and move to sonos

  • An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker. The network connection failed.

I can't get my itunes to connect to the remote speakers via airport express anymore  - I did not change any settings - but did update iTunes to 10.2.2 and now things are not working and I get his message - "An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker “Living Room”. The network connection failed."
Does anybody have a fix for this problem?
    thanks

Same problem for me. Ever since I upgraded to 10.6.3 and iTunes 9.1, about once per week I'll get the error message when trying to get iTunes/Airtunes to connect to my older Airport Express (running firmware 6.3) "An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker <insert speaker name here>. The network connection failed." (No error codes are given.)
Airport Utility sees the offending Airport Express just fine (and there's a green light on said AE).
Curiously, a newer AE-n, elsewhere in the house (running firmware 7.4.2) does NOT exhibit this problem.
Simply restarting the offending AE does NOT clear the problem. Restarting the main router - a Time Capsule DOES clear the problem. Alternatively, toggling off the Airtunes functionality on the offending AE, restarting it, then toggling Airtunes back on, and finally restarting it DOES clear the problem (as an alternate to restarting the router). No matter how the problem is cleared, it returns within a week. It's frustrating that the problem cannot be recreated immediately.
Probably not relevant, but the computer on which I'm running iTunes (a Mac Mini) is connected to my TC via ethernet, not wirelessly.
I've tried the suggestion of disabling ipv6. No effect.
I fear the only solution will be to scrap my older Airport Express and replace it with a newer n-model. But before I resign myself to the $100 fix, any more ideas?

  • Itunes and network connection for remote speaker

I have three airport remotes that are all on line. On one of my computers when I try to access a remote speaker I get the message "network connection failed." I can play all three remotes from other computerswith ITunes but my main computer cannot access the remote speakers. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have the same problem with my computer running windows 7. I get the following error message; "unknown error -15000". The connection does not get established with my remote airport express access points
