IOS 8.0.2 disaster

Yesterday I loaded iOS 8.0.2 onto my iPad which totaly screwed it up, fortunately Apple help got me going by reseating my iPad throught iTunes which was excellent service, v pleased with the service.  However since the install my iPad has filed to connect to wifi, dropped out when it eventually did, and failed to download and install apps
HELP. Is there any way to return to ios7 which was rock solid !!!

I have a similar problem after upgrading to iOS 8.0 and 8.02.  Each time I turn on the ipad I must go back to Settings and select the wifi network I am using.  Once I have accessed a website the connection will remain on.  However,I am not able to run any video streams such as ABC news or YouTube.  I am also not able to run the OOKLA speedtest.  It searches for the best server then gives up with the message "network communication issues".  I run the same test from the same wifi network using my desk top computer and get an excellent report of download speed of 100 MBS using cable modem.  What can be done to resolve this.

  • Updating to iOS 8 is a disaster if you want to use your HDMI cable to watch catch up TV

IT is a warning to prevent other people from making this mistake

I have been using iPhone from a very long time and I'm aware of it completely. It's not like if I did something wrong. All what I did is tab "Downoad and Install" in the software update screen. I have never encountered such thing.
Nearly every iOS upgrade since the beginning has followed the same procedure, so you must have seen it already. What you did "wrong" was not have a regular backup schedule, nor did you back up before tapping Download and Install.

  • IOS 7.0.6 disaster, new phone/ipad but

    Hi,
Had all the same issues as everyone else with my phone4 and ipad2 bricking so have had to reinstall as new phone/ipads - the backups were corrupt of wont work so that means I lost all the games data for my daughter....thanks apple...did you now test this update before sending it out?  Really hard not to notice my windows phone that i use for work that is simpler and keeps on working....anyway.
Now, with effectively new phones they are actually faster...an interesting point to note.  however, icloud is now all buggy and only loading half of my contacts and no diary.....if you haven't udated this then DONT.  If you have and have some advice that can help me that would be much appreciated.

    Philly:
When there is an iOS update available, iTunes asks if you want to install it. I chose to only download the iOS 7.0.6 update, but not to install it until I had done a backup of everything on my iPad. When that iOS 7.0.6 update failed, I had NO iOS at all, just a bricked iPad.
When my son did a "clean restore" that was the same thing you'd do to wipe an iPad - just install iOS 7.0.6 and install basic iPad apps.  When you turn the iPad on after that, it indicates it wants to be connected to iTunes. At that point, my son yanked the cord so nothing else was installed.  Then, with iOS 7.0.6 already installed, iTunes on my PC didn't say it wanted to update iOS, and allowed me to choose my previous backup to be restored. All was straightforward after that.
Again, there are places on he web where you can download various versions of iOS, along with a PC utility that will do the iOS update. I think these utilities are for when you want to hack your device, so I'm not crazy about this approach.

  • IOS 8: iTunes Match hogging huge amount of storage space on iPhone (6 Plus)

    Hi there!
I use iTunes Match for a long time now, Have about 18k Songs in in all tagged incl. covers (compressed with JPEG mini app)
After updating to iOS 8, I'm quite sure that Match seems to be the root of a massive use of "other" storage space on my new iPhone 6 Plus. I opted for the 16GB because I thought I don't need more because of iTunes Match. Apparently I was mistaken as the baseline design by Apple is no longer sufficient for using the basic services Apple provides. I tried to solve the problem by restoring the Phone two weeks ago, but the problem reoccurs no matter wether I create a new iPhone and activate iTunes Match or restore it form an iCloud Backup.
I made some screenshots to show the problem:
Note that I have deleted every single cache-file prior to this screenshot and that there is not a single music file on the iPhone.
There also still seems to be a problem with the delete-function integrated in iOS, as music-data is not always wiped, but that's old news I think:
After experimenting with deactivating and activating iTunes Match on the phone and downloading a short album (~50MB) for testing purposes, this happened:
I am out of ideas how to fix this...Applecare is more or less not available right now here in Germany because of the iOS 8.0.1 disaster.
I'm really ****** of as more and more space is eaten up on my phone without even having any use of it. Restoring my iPhone every 2 weeks can't be the answer.
Does anybody have an idea how to fix this? Is this problem a known bug and fixed in iOS 8.1?
    Any help is appreciated
    Kind regards,
    Thorbjörn

    Hello Dan,
I am having the exact same issue except mine might be a little worse. I restored my phone and "set up as new" about 3 times. I didn't have much to lose as far as "backup" was concerned so I just went ahead and wiped the whole phone clean. I am missing 10gb.
I Have accepted the fact that iOS takes 5.2GB of storage to run my phone (which is ridiculous). I have also added up all my used data in the "manage storage" portion in setting and it adds up to about 2gb. So basically I have about 10GB unaccounted for. I chatted with apple twice and talked to supervisors and they all tried to walk me through the same process of restoring, rebooting, clearing cache, resetting etc. nothing has worked. I've come to the conclusion that it's a faulty flash drive and we just need to return our phones for new ones. Nothing can be done.

  • Will I loose data if I delete ios 7

Well Apple is now using Microsoft's business model of launching new platforms before they work.  iOS 7 is a disaster on many levels; i. e. many functions as basic as blue tooth no longer function, Evernote app problems, UGLY, and no easy solutions to anything.  It makes me wish I had NOT singed a contract on a iPhone 5.  How can I get rid of the new iOS 7 without loosing data?  When I read the forums it seems way too complicated and there are horror stories about lost data which I cannot afford to do.  What a mess you guys are making of the Apple brand and reputation.

You cannot downgrade the OS without breaking the system and your warranty. Period. That's the way the cookie crumbles and the way it will crumble until Apple says otherwise. So, like all of us users, either learn how the new system works and how to do things in this new World Order, or use your freedom to move on to another platform.

  • IOS 8 Safari blank screens

Ever since I installed iOS 8, Safari has been rendering the occasional page as a blank screen. This seems to occur frequently if I change tabs and then swap back, and reloading the page doesn't seem to do anything. The solution I have found for the moment is to rotate the device which causes the page to show correctly, then rotate back. This is clearly not a permanent solution and I would love to know how to fix the issue.

Same here on 4th-gen iPad.  100% reproducible in certain spots.  If I start to backspace and delete text, it gets real sluggish.  I'm wondering if the spell check is causing it to hang.  iOS 8 IS A DISASTER!

  • IOS 8 Safari hangs entering text

Since upgrading to iOS 8 Safari is regularly hanging when I enter text. It is so bad I have had to install Chrome to post this report (no problems at all with Chrome needless to say).
Safari just hangs and there is nothing to be done until iOS tears the browser down and reloads - at which point any entered text is lost ...
    Any suggested fixes?
    (iPad 3 by the way)
    Thanks,
    Och

  • Favourites lost when updating TomTom app

I have a 16GB iPhone 4 with about 650MB of storage. TomTom released a new version of their app this week, and in order to update the app, I first sync'ed and backed up my iPhone with iTunes. I then downloaded the update in iTunes before trying to sync again. The app didn't sync, probably because of lack of storage on the iPhone, so I deleted the app from the phone and re-sync'ed. The updated app sync'ed correctly after that, but I lost all of my favourites and app settings in the process. I contacted TomTom support about this and there's no way to retrieve them, they're essentially washing their hands off the problem, saying it's an Apple issue.
I can restore my iPhone using the back up I did before deleting the app, but that doesn't really help me in updating the app. Does anybody know whether it's possible to export the favourites from the app, and re-import them after deleting the app and installing the updated version?
Note: I don't want to delete my music and put it back after updating the app. Updating to iOS 7 was a disaster, resulting in my music not sync'ing properly. I could never fix it using iTunes and in the end, I had to use CopyTransManager to manually copy the albums one by one. It took me almost 2 months of manually copying songs from computer to iPhone to get my music back as it was prior to updating to iOS 7 (minus a few albums for which I didn't have enough space), so I am not touching it again ever! (I don't sync it through iTunes anymore).

Well, it looks like I can't restore the backup either because "there's not enough storage"
Anyway, I browsed through various internet forums and found a solution:
With iPhone Backup Extractor, I extracted mapsettings.cfg from my last manual backup (to my PC), which I did before deleting the TomTom app and installting the updated version. You need to go in "Expert Mode" to Application\com.tomtom.WEurope\Documents\Western_Europe.
Once you have found it, click "Extract" and save it somewhere on your PC.
Now, using iExplorer, I copied the file to the corresponding location on my iPhone (Apps\W. Europe\Documents\Western_Europe)
Launched TomTom on my iPhone et voila! My favourites are all there and I am running the latest version of the app.
Don't know why Apple/TomTo, have to make it so hard...

  • Sound issues with recent 8.3 update for Ipad mini 2

So recently I purchased an Ipad mini 2 32 gb tablet. I saw there was an software update and processed it right away. That completed fine but what I found that when I was running the new Mortal Combat game there was this occasional crackling sound that was very annoying. I also experience it on some Youtube videos. So I decided to return the unit thinking there was defective hardware. So I got the replacement and it worked just fine at 8.2 I decided not update the software for a week and see what happened. Well it ran Mortal Combat just fine with no crackling. It also ran youtube videos with no problems. So I thought ok, looks like I had a bad unit. Let me load up 8.3 now and I should be good. Well just what I was hoping would not happen, did. The crackling returned and I have very frustrated now. What can I do? Does apple or any one else know about this issue?

I just responded to you on this other thread that references this post: Re: iOS 8.3 a disaster
Happy to try to help take a look!

  • I'm so mad at this point that it's pointless.  i'm re-syncing my iphone (6,000 songs) for the millionth time because you cannot build intelligent software - i've furious.  Yet again, a brilliant idea foiled by idiot programming.

CPU went to 100%. Had to look it up over and over again.  See below:

The guy who published this should be hired by Apple.  Because they dont' get it.  And it's not clear to me that they ever will without him.
IOS 5 is a disaster.  It does't need to be.
    I'm now 10% sync'ed after 2 hours.  I'm ******.  Unbelievable.

My clean install worked out alright, although I don't think it really fixed anything, rather gave me a couple more days of use 'till I have to send it in. Someone please help my get it running properly again...

  • HT1414 anyone noticing a decline in battery life after downloading ios7????

anyone noticing a decline in battery life after downloading ios7?

I have an iphone 5. Ios 7 is a disaster for battery life! It used to drain about 1% every two hours, 5% over night roughly (not being used). Now it is draining at double the rate. It drained 10% over night and it isn't even doing a thing. I think something is clocking up usage when it's idle.
    Screen brightness is minimal.
Background app updating is restricted to one app which isn't running the majority of the time.
Dynamic wall paper and other stupid stuff is all turned off.
I can't turn off the stupid clock animation. I wonder if working out how that is displayed is the issue???
It shouldn't be draining at 1% per hour when not even being used.
Favourite locations is still switched on.
Is there any benefit in turning off wifi and using 3g data only? I had the issue before that having 3g enabled meant double the battery drain so I only used it when I was out.
Ipad mini seems fine though. Battery life is same as last ios6 ie about 14-16 hours use.
I now have caret running to find out what the rogue thing is. The majority of the time few apps are running at all.
My general average usage is 12-15% per day if lightly used and 25-45% if it is moderately used. Now the phone is draining at 25-33% a day when lightly used!
Beats me why an ipad mini which is advertised at up to 10 hours on wifi nearly doubles that and the iphone which is advertised at the same rarely reaches it. I usually get 8 hours of active use if I'm lucky. Now it's more like 5-6 which is hopeless.

  • Help, I just updated to iOS 8 and all my pages documents have disappeared! This is a disaster ! Can I get them from the cloud? If so how and can I do it without a PC or laptop?

I Have just updated to iOS 8 and have lost all my Pages docs this is a huge disaster. Is there any way to get them back ? I hope that they are in the cloud but I have never used it to get anything back before. Can any one help. Is it possible to do this without a PC or laptop?

You really need to try this on a computer, not on the iPad.
Seeing how what is in the cloud is also on the iPad, if the content is not on the iPad, there is a good chance that the content is lost. But you can try logging into www.icloud.com in a web browser on a computer and log into your account and see if you can get into the Pages app. You may have to sign up for iCloud drive if you didn't do so already. Make SURE you that you read the blurb that will pop up in that window in iCloud for more information.

  • Problems with IOS 8, a disaster!

I recently got the iphone 5s that came with IOS 8, and I have had nothing with problems with it since I got it.  There are problems with Wifi for sure.  It doesn't connect outside of my home without me actively going in to select a network and in my home it seems not to want to stay connected.  Also, when using messages, the screen gets all weird, there is lots and lots of blank white space between messages.  You have to go out of the function, then come back in to get it to correct itself.  Also when in messages, when you try to flip the phone to landscape to continue typing your message, you have to go out of it and come back in to get it to flip.  And when it does flip, it activates that little audio function they added, with a little bleep.  Super annoying.  Also, If, for instance, someone sends me an email with a youtube video to watch, after I watch it, and close it, and get out of the email function, when I come back into the phone again the Youtube play bar is stuck on the lock screen.  So there is no youtube, just the function bar that allows you to play, pause, or stop the youtube video, and it wont go away until you turn the phone completely off.  There are other little things that are really annoying, but I do hope they will be fixed.

but then even today plugging in my iPhone 6 to my mac and performing a sync crashed my network!!! please apple sort this one out quick!!
Plugging your phone into the mac and performing a sync has nothing to do with your network, and does not use the network to do anything, so the phone or iOS8 has nothing to do with that. You have other issues going on here.

  • IOS 6 disaster. Facetime and imessage not working. sync problems

    Hi all.
I just wanted to know if anyone else  has experienced so many bugs with iOS6?
Upgraded to an ipad 3 32GB  wifi . Gave my dad ipad 2(restored and logged in with his apple id).
All was well. Then iOS 6 came along
I am able to log into my apple id but everytime i try to sign into facetime it says username or password is incorrect.
it worked a couple times but then stopped working again.
I am positive the password is correct.
I reset the password and am using the new one.
    It is correct.
    Restored the ipad.
worked for a while.. then the same thing
now i can't sync, Am getting an error message . Currently restoring the ipad again.
I am able to purchase items on itunes still on my desktop and my apple id seems to be working otherwise.
    Facetime and imessage is not
    please help?
anyone else experienced similiar issues with iOS6 ?
It should be mentioned that i couldn't purchase items directly from my ipad with the appstore for a period of time but it worked when i purchased through itunes on my desktop
Are these bugs associated with iOS6?
Again any help will be greatly appreciated
    Cheers

I have the exact same problem!! it's been driving me crazy!! I have iPhone 4 but my iMessage works fine however.
Just the FaceTime doesn't work at all, my phone number is registered ,
just when I try to add my email (apple ID) to make the facetime works & activate .. I write down my email & password correctly , it says password is incorrect! =(((
I changed my password, I tried resetting the settings and turning on & off the phone and all. Nothing Works!!
this is one of MANY bugs I have after I updated (& made the most terrible mistake of my life) to iOS 6 !!
Apps are crashing & force closing including their new app store. Youtube application is vey slow. Maps aren't accurate not even half the quality of google maps. Screen freezes sometimes =((
I'm very disaapointed at Apple seriously!! this could be their one mistake that will drop down their whole legendary iPhone into the sewer!

  • This new iOS 6.1 is a disaster my iPad is no longer able to make a correct connection to the wifi. I can only consider abandoning apple altogether!

My iPad2 connects to the 3G but does not connect to the wifi. It sees my wifi router but it does not connect to it. The problem all started with iOS upgrade to 6.1. Wifi is THE most important component of an iPad getting it wrong is UNFORGIVABLE. If this does not get fixed very soon, Apple can kiss my loyalty bye bye.

The problem has appeared with iOS 6.1 update. I have tried rebooting the iPad, forgetting the wifi network etc... I have numerous devices connected to the router through wired LAN and wifi. All of them were working properly.
The iPad appeared to have problems connecting to the DHCP server and was showing an Unusual IP address starting with 169 rather than the normal range of 192.168.0.xxx served by my router. In the end rebooting the router appeared to have fixed the problem for now, however I will wait to see when the lease expires...
One could establish that the problem is with the router, however the problem coincided with the upgrade to iOS6.1 and no other devices had any problem.
