IOS 8.0.2 iPad 2 showing "no service" until I reboot

I have upgraded my two iPad 2s with AT&T GSM to 8.0.2. My wife and I now regularly get a "No Service" for AT&T GSM until we complete a reboot. Everything else works great. This is an intermittent problem that occurs at least once a day.

Hi michael rfromchicago,
If you are having intermittent but persistent issues with No Service on your iPads after a recent update, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

If you are not using Cellular Data, turn it off.

  • Ipad 2 shows No Service after upgrade to IOS 8.0.2

Hi I have upgraded to latest IOS 8 on my Ipad 2 but know i keep getting "No Service". I have reset networks, did a back up etc etc.tuned it on and off
works fine for a short time and them goes back to No service
    Please help

Which iCloud update do you mean? iCloud drive?
I've tried this as well but all of the "workarounds" explained here in the forum are solving the "no service" issue only temporarily... Unfortunately also the one I described above. Sometimes the network lasts the whole day long, sometimes it breaks within a few hours.
This is annoying me so much, that if Apple doesn't provide a solution soon, this will be the last Apple device I've bought! My pleasure has gone during the last years, last but not least cause of the increased screen size of iP6. But this is another topic...

  • After updating to IOS 8, my cellular enabled iPad will show "no service" unless turned off and completely rebooted.  Does anyone else have this issue?

After updating to IOS8, my iPad 2,  which has both AT&T cellular and wifi, needs to be completely turned off and rebooted to get cellular service. Does anyone else have this issue ?

    Hi Hi Steve Giusto,
If you are having issues with Xxx_state issue here_xxX, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
    HT5137
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
    HT1430
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
    HT4137

  • HT1414 after i upgraded to ios6.1.3 i hardly have service for 1hour in a day and my ipad kep showing no service and this is killing me

i bought my ipad 3 last year and it wasworking fine, the ipad started to have no service problem when i upgraded it. i can't turn off the 3G on my ipad for suere but the ipad only brings one bar of 3G netwok but will bring network where there isno 3g. this is really disturbing and i'm sure it is a software problem because lot of people have the same issue. plaese i just need possible solutions as quick as possible.
    Thanks

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • The AirPort Utility does not recognize and show the basestation until I reboot my laptop.

I have an issue doing changes to my just recently bought Airport Extreme basestation through Airport Utility (the latest version).
Wireless connection is perfect but my Airport Utility cannot recognise the basestation until I reboot my laptop. Then everything works find until the next time.
Normally I put my laptop to hibernate mode when I am not using it. When I activate it again and start Airport Utility I cannot see the basestation unless I reboot my laptop.
    Can anyone help me!

In order for the AirPort Utility to "find" the base station, it requires certain ports open on your Win7 laptop's software firewall. It may be possible when the laptop goes into hibernation mode, that these ports cannot be opened when the laptop "awakes" ... and thus, why you find yourself having to restart it.
I would recommend temporarily disabling the Win7 software firewall. Let let laptop go into hibernation or "force" it to go into hibernation, and then, see if you can access the base station through the utility after it awakes.

  • IPad 2 shows no cell service

A week or so after I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it began showing no cell service, sometimes once per day, sometimes multiple times per day. I have found that the problem can be fixed by rebooting the iPad, but in the last couple of days, the iPad will show 3G service after rebooting but Safari and other apps will say that it has no internet connection. Rebooting again has solved the problem so far, but this is extremely annoying.

    Hi Paul,
I can imagine running into cellular service issues after upgrading iOS on your iPad would be frustrating. I recommend taking a look at at the article linked below because it provides a lot of great troubleshooting suggestions that will resolve cellular service issues on iOS devices.

  • I downloaded a book to my Ipad and when I went to sync with Itunes on my PC- it removed the book from my Ipad, but shows it on the PC.  I have it "checked" to be synced but it still does not show up on my Ipad?  This also happened after I downloaded IOS 5

I downloaded a book on my Ipad and after syncing to my PC, it was dropped from the Ipad, but shows up on my PC?  I have it "checked" to be synced but it will not come back onto my Ipad.  This is also after I downloaded IOS 5.1 for the Ipad.  Does anyone know why it would be dropped from the Ipad?

Sometimes simply restarting your iTunes, the computer and the iPad is all that it takes to correct an issue like this so try that. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, and restart the iPad. Then try the sync again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • After upgrading to IOS 5 on my iPad only some books in iBooks show content. They were fine before the upgrade. I made a new version in Pages and reinstalled them on the iPad. Still nothing. What is the fix?

After upgrading to IOS 5 on my iPad only some books in iBooks show content. They were fine before the upgrade. I made a new version of the book in Pages and reinstalled them on the iPad. Still nothing. What is the fix?

I just got the iBooks update and that fixed the problem, except the book covers look like they were done in a government printing office.

  • Since updating to IOS 8.1 on ipad mini can't download apps.  Apps show "waiting." Have reset to new condition with no improvement.  Any solution?

Since updating to IOS 8.1 on ipad mini can't download apps from iTunes store.  Apps show "waiting." Have reset to new condition with no improvement.  Also turned off Wi-Fi and re-connected.   Any solution?  Thanks,

If you restored your iPad as new, and it still didn't help, I don't know if anything in here will help. in any event, I have posted this boilerplate of suggestions many times in the past and the suggestions in here have worked for others at one time or another. Feel free to give them a try.
    1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
    2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. If you see a downloads tab in the lower right corner, then there is a download in iTunes.
    4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. Apps may also be able to be deleted in Settings>General>Usage>Storage if you cannot get the X to pop up on the icon.
    6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    7. Reset your router. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in again.

  • For iOS the ipad version shows the folio that has been published, but the iPhone app is not.

I am responsible for handling the apps and not at all involved with or know how the folio creation process works.
When I build the app for iOS the iPad version shows the folio that has been published, but the iPhone app is not showing the folio.
Is this something related to the build process or how the folio was created?
The folio also shows up in the Android app (at least the phone I have tested with).
    Thanks,

"Android and iOS viewers have different requirements for displaying folios. Any folio size you create can appear in an Android viewer. The articles are scaled and letterboxed as needed. However, on the iPad, the viewer displays only folios with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The iPhone viewer displays only folios with a 3:2 or 16:9 (1136x640) aspect ratio."
