Recboot can not fix normal mode, nor tinyumbrella.

if your computer is not recognizing it, try using a different USB port or different usb cable. if that doesnt work you will need to uninstall and reinstall itunes.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen failed iOS 6.1 update, stuck in recovery mode

Last night I tried to update my iPod Touch 4th gen to iOS 6.1. The update downloaded from iTunes perfectly fine, but as it was installing I got an error message. Now my iPod is stuck in recovery mode and will not start the recovery process. Both the "Devices and Printers" and "Device Manager" in Windows 7 recognize the iPod as being connected and in recovery mode, but iTunes is not showing the prompt that it detects the iPod in recovery mode. I have tried putting the device into DFU mode, uninstalled and reinstalled both iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device driver, all with no success. I won't be home for about 6 hours, so I can't try connecting it to another computer yet. Can anyone please tell me how to fix it?

Yeah, just happened to me too. Third time Apple has ****-canned my iPod by updating the iOS. So tired of having to do this over and over everytime Apple releases an update.
Thanks a ton, Apple! I was just thinking what I could be doing this eveing after a long day at work, now I've got my answer! You guys are just WONDERFUL!

Error 1603 after trying to update to ios 5 now phone is bricked stuck in recovery mode

Try this - download a program called rec boot. follow the instructions to kick it out of recovery mode. and does itunes recognise
or hold the power and home button together until you see a "connect to itunes" pic on the screen
    hope it helps

  • Tried updating to iOS 6, now my phone is stuck in recovery mode...help?

I tried updating my phone to the iOS 6 software, and my iTunes won't read my phone at all. It keeps saying that "your iphone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored." I restored it for an hour and it didn't work at all. Now my phone is stuck in recovery mode. I'm away at college and I don't know how to fix it. Help!

No, it is my phone that I've had since 2009. I just hate updating it because every time I do something goes wrong. So I put it off as long as possible. I am getting a new iphone, but I read that to have your backup transfer to the new phone, it must be a backup from the current ios.

    Hi there mmimadi,
It may seem a bit repetitive, but I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below. If the issues persist, there a a few other things we can try.

  • I upgraded my Iphone 4 wirelessly to iOS 5.1 and I'm stuck in recovery mode and my phone won't restore and gives me error (1) What do I do?

I upgraded my iphone4 wirelessly to iOS 5.1 and now I'm stuck in recovery mode and when I try and restore my phone it gives me error code (1)  At this point,
I want a working phone.  Any ideas?

download a program called RecBoot, very easy to use, connect your iphone and click on "exit recovery mode" and it will restart normally. I had the same problem as you, but I solved it with this program.

  • Brand new iphone wont update, stuck in recovery mode

So I just bought a brand new iPhone 5S today, and when I plugged it into iTunes I saw that there was an update for iOS 7.1.2. When I tried to update my phone, iTunes downloaded the update but wouldn't apply it to the phone, instead giving me a "waiting for iPhone" message.  After a while I tried reconnecting the phone but iTunes stopped recognizing it and my phone was stuck with the iTunes logo and charger on-screen.  I then put my phone in recovery mode - no results.  I tried syncing it with another computer, but I can't restore the phone without it also installing 7.1.2, which doesn't work and just gets stuck on "preparing to restore iPhone."  Is there anything I can possibly do to make my new phone work again? Did 7.1.2 actually just kill my phone?

    Hello rph30,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
First, since your iPhone is not being recognized by iTunes, even though it is in recovery mode, please follow the appropriate link below for the computer you own:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Then ultimately go through the recovery process:

  • IPhone 4 update - stuck in recovery mode following unsuccessful restore.

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone can help me with my 'problem'?!
I have recently tried to download the latest available software update for my iPhone 4 and unfortunately my laptop power cable was disconnected before the update had completed. As a result I was unable to switch on my iPhone, so I immediately restarted my laptop and connected my iPhone in order to recommence the update. However, when I connected the device to my laptop I found that my iPhone was no longer recognized by my iTunes and a pop up box stating that: 'iTunes had detected an iPhone in recovery mode' and that the phone 'had to be restored' had appeared.
As I was unable to turn on my iPhone and, by this time, the iPhone was stuck constantly advising me to connect to iTunes, I decided to restore the phone as advised. I clicked the OK button and then the restore button at which point the error message stating the phone could not be updated due to 'unknown error 1604'. After several attempts I managed to get the phone to start and complete the restore process. Upon completion the phone is still not recognized and still stuck constantly telling me to connect to iTunes. I am able to start and complete the restore process again without error 1604 but at the end of the restore the problem persists.
Has anybody had the same or similar issue??
    Any assistance will be appreciated.
    Cheers

Apple recommends to Restore, get Error 1604 leave iPhone connected, Quit iTunes, Restart iTunes, Restore again, fixed. Error 1604 try a different USB port or different computer. Some say Error 1604 is due to bad IPSW file, delete IPSW from computer, and install new file with iTunes or manually.

  • My iPhone 5 keep telling me restore after update, stuck in recovery mode?

After trying to update my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.03, my phone turned off and turned back on with a screen telling me to plug it into iTunes.  After plugging it in, it says that it has to be restored and that my iPhone is in recovery mode.  I've tried restarting the phone, holding the power and home button but it just goes back to the plug into iTunes screen. I don't want to have to lose all my stuff on my phone so I don't want to restore it.  I have no idea what to do!  Please help!

It's too late, whatever was on your phone is already gone, if it is in recovery mode.
However, if you been backing up on a regular basis you can restore to that backup after the recovery.

  • Failed Update - Stuck in Recovery Mode

An unmodified iPhone. Tried to update to v2.0 and get a failed message; iPhone could not be restored. I get one of 4 error messages 2001, 2003 2005 and (6). I'm using the latest version of iTunes and have rebooted my Mac several times. Plugged and unplugged the iPhone, deleted the plist files for the restore software ending in "ipsw". The upper back of the phone is quite warm, like it gets after making a long call. The display shows a connector pointing to iTunes. I can shut it off by holding the top button down and I can turn it on. When turned on I get to the apple logo only. The broken connection display occurs when the iTunes connection is established. Any ideas?

Read some of the other posts from today. Everyone is having the same problem. what it amounts to is Apple's server is overloaded with too many people trying to download 2.0. I don't understand why this was not anticipated by Apple before making the embedded iphone customers to wait for the software until they launched the new phones.
A lot of this could have been avoided by activating the 2.0 sofrware a week ago and e-mailing iphone users so they could have upgraded before today. Their main focus is on sales and unfortunately their new customers are also stuck with unusable toys as well. I'm sure they are not impressed.
The othe strings say to click on any other functions, such as MUSIC, and back to the phone to get it to try to access the store. Many folks have had success with that, but I have been doing that for 2 hours with no success. They probably can see I'm on a PC and not a MAC so I go to the bottom of the queue.LOL GOOD LUCK ALL!

  • IPod Touch 4G stuck in recovery mode after trying to update iOS!

so while trying to update to the newest iOS (6.1), the iPod just went into recovery mode and has been stuck there ever since. When I try restoring it, it always begins "Extracting software.." only to then tell me "The iPod cannot be restored at this time because the iPod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable".
I have tried literally EVERYTHING to restore it but it just won't work!
Also when I run Diagnostics, everything is fine, except for my iTunes Store connectivity part, where it says that the internet connection failed, even though my Internet works just fine & I can open my browser as well as browse the iTunes Store.
Someone said to let the iPod drain & then recharge for 1 hour & I'll try doing that now but I don't think it'll help much..
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO ANYMORE  :-( someone please help!

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.
