IOS 8.1.2 car bluetooth connection

I have lost the Bluetooth connectivity in my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe since I updated my phone to iOS 8.1.2.  I have tried to reset car Bluetooth features as well as on my phone.  Nothing seems to work.  Is anyone else having issues and are there any solutions?

Similar to VroomVroom:  I have iphone 5s, was on iOS7, went to iOS 8.1.2, and I didn't notice that I had lost a specific bluetooth connection: Garmin Smartlink - Live Traffic App.  The Garmin Smartlink uses bluetooth to connect to the aftermarket Kenwood DNX891HD I have in my car, this comes with a Navigation GPS included.  The Garmin Smartlink app (Live Traffic) provides immediate traffic updates if your city is covered, and my city Cincinati OH is covered.  This was all working fine before I upgraded the iOS on the iphone 5S.  I read another article related to "carkit" connections between iphones and car stereos (for both NAV and also hands-free) - here is the key point and my theory: Only ONE bluetooth connection can be supported at a time.  In my case - the hands-free telephone (thru car microphone and car stereo speakers) works fine, and I believe this is also "shared" by Pandora App (from iphone to Kenwood).  So, my theory is the iphone will not connect to the Kenwood for the Nav, since it is already connected to the Kenwood for the audio (Pandora and hands-free, I think these two "share" the same bluetooth connection, and I think the Smartlink connection is separate).  I messed around this morning in the parking lot at work, and my attempts to "forget" and "pair" the iphone and Kenwood would continously start playing Pandora, but the Smartlink still will not connect (when it dis work, I would see a green circle with two cars on my Nav map screen, indicating the smartlink connection and also status of the traffic).  My next test this afternoon will be to delete Pandora app on the phone, try forget / pair again and see if I can get Smartlink to work.  If this works, I'll reinstall Pandora App and try to get it back as well.  My past 24 hours of skimming articles (don't ya love the internet !) seems to indicate that I am not the only person with bluetooth problems due to the iOS 8.1.2 update....hey Apple...where's 8.1.3 to fix this ?

The iPhone is not designed to pair with an iPad (except for personal hotspot if your cellular plan allows it) or with another iPhone. What is it that you are trying to do? There are a number of features such as Handoff, Keynote Remote, etc that require Bluetooth to be on but the devices are not paired. See Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?

  • Car Bluetooth connection with MAPS and iPhone 5.

I have my iPhone Bluetooth connected to my new Toyota Camry and it indicates such on the phone and the car.  However, in going to MAPS navigation, there is no voice, only written directions.  Initially the voice worked, but now it doesn't.  Toyota says it is the phone.  I have an IPhone 5.  Someone suggested I need to upgrade to IOS something or the other....is this true?  Others have advised not to upgrade to the latest IOS due to significant glitches.  Why am I not getting the voice directions.  Why has my phone stopped talking to me?  Is it something I said?
Oh, and when I take it to 1:1 appointment and put in an address and click on START, the voice happens inside the store

Quick related question - have you managed to set your N97 up as a 3G bluetooth modem? Despite going through the normal bluetooth setup process, i just can't get it working; it gets as far as connecting and then authenticating, but then disconnects saying the PPP connection could not be negotiated.
Any ideas? I'm on O2 PAYG in the UK and am using login credentials provided on filesaveas.com

  • Car Bluetooth Connectivity Issue with iPhone 6

Just got the iPhone 6 on Friday -- very exciting! But I can't get the phone to connect to my Mini Countryman's bluetooth. The phone will detect the car's bluetooth signal, and says it's connected, but calls aren't audible via the car stereo system, but rather the phone itself. And if I don't turn the bluetooth off, my car thinks I'm on a call and the radio won't work.
It's frustrating because this feature use to work with my 5s. A friend of mine is having the same issue in his car. And I've seen others complain about this -- seems like an Apple issue. Not sure though.

I did what ever everyone suggested, reset all setting, reset network setting, deleting from car memory.   It's works fine after you reset it and reconnect to the car with fresh new connection at first, but after I power the phone off and turn it back on, boom the problem comes back.  It's got to be a IOS 8 issue.  I did this 3 times and I am getting sick and tired of it so I am going to restore and set up as a new iPhone from Itune and wait and see how Apple is going to fix this issue.
I have 3 cars and the Bluetooth is having the same issue on all of them, work first then no more even with the suggest tricks.  I hate my iPhone 6 now.

  • How can I go back to a previous version of software as iOS 5 has stopped car bluetooth working.

I have an i-phone 3GS and a 56 Plate Ford Fiesta with factory fitted bluetooth audio.  This is a Nokia bluetooth but has allowed me to call hands free with this phone and previous i-phones and other brands with no problem.  I upgraded to iOS5 and I can now not make calls through it.  If I press call, the radio says 'dialling' but the ringing tone and when someone answers just goes straight back to the handset and not through hands free which makes it redundant in the UK.  I rang Apple and asked how to go back to a previous version of software that does work but was told Apple staff were not allowed to tell me how to do this.  His only other suggestion was that I buy a new car which wasn't massively helpful or practical.  I have seen quite a few messages on the internet of people having this sort of problem after they upgraded.  Does anyone know how to go back a previous version or how to get bluetooth back working with my car as I quite like the iOS 5 update it's just no good if I can't use it in car.? I've tried deleting and re-pairing but that hasn't worked.  Does anyone also know whether Apple have picked up on this bluetooth compatibility problem and whether they are planning on doing anything to fix it as it does seem to have affected a lot of people and if it can't be resolved I'll just have to stop using i-phones and go to another manufacturer as it's not helpful living in a country where you to have hands free and then not being able to do that because a software update prevents it.  Any help would be greatly received.

    Hi Shero89,
Thanks for the answer.  I am not new to IOS software but I don't really ever bother with it, have discovered how little I take advantage of the i-phones capability, in reality I still only really use it to phone, text, check emails, listen to music and look on internet.  I'm not keen on jailbreaking it as I don't trust it to work so normally just update and leave it at that.  Only reason I wanted to downgrade was because the update had stopped my bluetooth working but Kilted Tim solved that problem for me so am now not interested in downgrading software.  I quite liked the things that IOS 5.1 gave me but wasn't happy with fact that bluetooth stopped working in car as it caused me problems.  One day I might try and work out exactly what I-phones can do but on the basis that it's a phone all I really want it to do is phone, if that bit works I'm happy.

  • I cant pair my Bluetooth shutter in ios 8. Fix the Bluetooth connectivity.

    BBluetooth shutter

What is it that you are trying to pair? What is a Bluetooth shutter? The iPhone only supports a portion of the Bluetooth stack. See what is supported here. iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles - Apple Support
Since I don't know what a Bluetooth shutter is, I cannot say what profile it uses.

  • Bluetooth connection fails iOS 8.1

My iPhone5s cannot make a Bluetooth connectivity with any of my Macs(MBA mid-2013, iMac late-2012, MacPro) all running Yosemite 10.10. Prior to upgrading to Yosemite the same iPhone running on iOS 7 did make successful bluetooth connectivity. My iPhone5s is on 8.1. Surprising even though it cannot have connectivity, it sees and stay connected for a second or two and then will say "Not Connected". But the same phone connects with Blueant S4 handsfree Speakerphone - except that I have to make a connection each time. In the past, it used to connect automatically when I was in the range of my device.
Yes, I have tried reset PRAM, SMC resets on my Macs, powered OFF and ON my iPhone5s and even reset my NW connection. In addition, I have other iPhones in my family and none can make connection to Macs which run on Yosemite(tried 4s, 5 and even 6). But the same iPhones make successful BT on Macs running Mavericks and Mountain Lion(yes one MBP still exists). So I am guessing it is changes in Yosemite that is causing the problem. Because I am going through this problem - my family members who have Macs do not want to upgrade to Yosemite as they depend on BT connectivity for their external devices. I don't blame them, but sounds very silly to me that Apple messed up big time with BT connectivity. I see many reporting similar issues, but for many resetting PRAM and/or SMC they have been successful.
Any help would be appreciated. Again I am not referring to Handoff (which it is working for me) but I am interested in BT connectivity with Yosemite. This is important because external BT devices need to be connected(Headphones, Earbuds etc).

I went to the Apple store yesterday because I was having the same issue in my Honda Accord after I updated to iOS 8.1.1.  The very helpful rep there suggested that I go to Settings -> General -> Reset on my phone to reset my iPhone 5 General Settings.  She said that it's like an oil change for the phone that cleans out a lot of the junk.  After doing this, I was able to stream both my music and Pandora in my car again.
Note:  When you reset the General Settings, you will lose your phone password and background image (not a big deal).  You will NOT lose your pictures, video or emails.
    Hope that helps!

  • IPhone 4s No Longer connects to Car Bluetooth after iOS 7.1 Update

My iPhone 4s has been paired to our 2006 Acura TL hands free link (Bluetooth) and working flawlessly for more than a year.  After the iOS 7.1 update installed on my iPhone the connection has been lost and the car's Bluetooth does not recognize, and will not pair with my iPhone anymore!  I noticed there were two back-to-back updates for iOS7.  The first one caused intermittent interruptions and lost connections with the iPhone.  The second update completely destroyed the connection between the car bluetooth and the iPhone.  Any ideas on how to correct this problem would certainly be appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hello algee1,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with pairing your iPhone with your Acura.
In my experience, when updates are released for iOS devices, compatible devices release an update to maintain compatibility.  Step 2 from the article below recommends checking with the manufacturer of your car stereo to see if there is a firmware update available for your car stereo:
    2. Update software and firmware if necessary
Verify that both your car stereo and your device have the latest software versions. Contact the manufacturer to see if any updates are available. If your device does not have the latest version of the iOS, update to the latest software version.
I recommend reviewing the full article here for additional troubleshooting steps:
    iOS: Troubleshooting car stereo connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3581
I also recommend these steps if the issue persists after following all the steps in the previous article:
Unable to find nearby Bluetooth accessories
If a pairing record already exists, the device does not appear as discoverable. Try to connect the device using that pairing record.
If you are unable to connect using the existing pairing record, delete the record and pair again.
Ensure that the firmware or software on the Bluetooth accessory is up to date.
Ensure that the Bluetooth accessory is charged or connected to power.
Verify that the Bluetooth accessory is using a profile that works with the iOS device.
Turn off both the iOS device and the Bluetooth accessory, then turn both devices on again.
If the issue persists, test Bluetooth with another device or consult the manufacturer's documentation.

  • Ios 5.0.1 + Iphone 4 bluetooth connection issue with car stereo

My Iphone 4 will not connect with my new JVC car stereo I have spoken to JVC customer support and they say its an Apple issue that they need to fix (changed something with the bluetooth connection scripts in the latest update update, as they have done before).
The phone finds the stereo and then tries to pair with it, however half way through the pairing process the phone losses connection with the stereo and the pairing is then deleted.
I have deleted all the existing pairing in the phone memory and ensured that the stereo has been rebooted to ensure no conflict of previous installs would effect the process
Does anyone know if Apple are going to fix this glitch in a new softwre update (and if so when is it being released) as at the minute i have an expensive stereo which is cant use to its full ability?

Similar problems occured when Apple released iOS 4 last year. It was NOT fixed with an update from Apple. It was fixed by the system vendors and automakers releasing updates for their equipment. There are ongoing complaints from people with some Toyota built cars (Toyota and Lexus) with some systems as well as some BMW drivers.
I'm willing to bet money that the head unit you have is not fully standards compliant. Unfortunately, getting JVC to admit that is going to be nearly impossible. I suspect they will just quietly issue an update sometime in the next few months. Assuming the head unit can be updated by the end user at all.  You may have to resort to an inexpensive visor mount speaker phone in the mean-time.

  • Bluethooth  connects with car bluetooth but no sound. This problem started after up dating to IOS 8.0.2. Any suggestion to fix the problem?

    iPhone: 5s,
Problem started after IOS 8 up date.
Problem: Bluetooth connection with car indicated: connected.
Incoming call: no sound (caller's voice) from car speaker.
Out going call: no ring sound through speaker.
At random shows calling but can not hangup & no ring sound.
    Car: Infiniti G 37    2009.

I uploaded ios 8.0.2 on my iPhone 6 128 GB today 9-29-14 due to problems with Bluetooth talking to my ReSound Linx hearing aids to hopefully fix the problem. It sounds like the Bluetooth looses connection to the hearing aids and turns them off for about 1 1/2 minutes, then they come back on and I can hear again. I understand there are problems with Bluetooth and cars using the phone. I believe this Bluetooth problem is causing my hearing aid problem as my hearing aids connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth and the ReSound Smart App. I tried the reset fix, Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings as some have suggested but that did not resolve this issue either. I can't believe Apple is not talking about this ios 8.0.2 Bluetooth problem. This affects my everyday life in that I cannot hear when the Bluetooth drops.Try working with your hearing dropping every few minutes! If Apple wants in the Health field, I suggest they take their QA a little bit more serious than they are at present. Whomever was responsible for testing ios 8, 8.0.1 & 8.0.2 should be fired! This is causing more trouble than anyone can imagine. I understand the car - Bluetooth problem but think about the fact that if every time the Bluetooth drops, you can't hear.My job could be in jeopardy. I posted the problem to Apple Support and they will not even have the decency to respond with even a "we are sorry." How long do I have to go without being able to hear before Apple responds??????

  • Bluetooth connection issue with car stereo

    Hi,
I have a N8-00, with the current belle software on it.
With my car Bluetooth it will connect and function properly when I first add the device (N8) to the car Bluetooth, but if I turn the ignition off and then back on again it won't pair, if I try to manually do it, it just comes up with error without a code.
Deleting the device and trying to re-pair it wont work unless I restart my phone, and I am unable to turn Bluetooth off on my phone until after restarting it.
    This is getting very frustrating.
    Please help!!

  • Bluetooth connection problem in '13 Subaru Legacy with iOS 8.1

Bluetooth for my '13 Legacy has ALWAYS automatically connected to my Bluetooth stereo for car with my prior iPhone 5, iOS 7-iOS 8. After I upgraded to iPhone 6 with iOS 8-8.0.2 Bluetooth never connected automatically and when trying to connect from iPhone settings it would take up to 3 tries for it to connect, currently this issue seems to be resolved (needs more time). Before 8.1 I had to use stereo option to manually connect right away. After 8.1 update I still can not connect automatically.

checked today the subaru canada website, iphone 5s, ios 8 is LISTED NOT COMPATIBLE FOR INCOMING/HANDSFREE DIALING
