IOS 8.1.3. Streaming radio now cuts out in sleep mode.

As radio reception in my area is dreadful I rely on Internet radio a great deal. I never had any problems before this latest update. I could have it on all night in sleep mode and listen using headphones. Now listening at night has become problematic because of the glare from the screen.

Thanks for that, Jim. I'd not tried backing up iPad before. I followed the instructions and it installed some device software onto my laptop, however when I go to File/Devices all the options there are greyed out. I checked my iTunes and I am running the most recent version. When I connect it is also tellling me "this iPad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run iTunes installer to remove iTues then install iTues again." I'm not sure I understand this instruction. Do they mean use control panel to uninstall? I'm afraid I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to things like this.

Firstly restart router and AppleTv after unpowering to see if that helps - may or may not but quick and easy to try.
Connection via ethernet or wifi? If wifi are there any new devices in the house which may be causing interference or new neighbouring networks? If feasible try to eliminate wifi issues by using an ethernet connection.

Streaming radio station times out

After I'm listening to an iTunes streaming radio station for about an hour or so, the station times out and I have to click Play again. Is there a way to not have it time out - it's annoying...

Good find. It's working for me. Much better than running Safari in Rosetta, which I had been doing.

IOS 5.1 Bug: Delayed Texts/VM's, especially after sleep mode

Just updated my iPhone 4 and have been getting some bugs regarding texts, voicemails and sleep mode.
Texts and voicemails are delayed hours after being sent. Regarding sleep mode, when ever it is in sleep mode no activity goes through the phone. No texts/notufications or anything.
Is anyone else having similar bugs? Did you find any solutions?

Spoke with ATT and they said that they will go backwards and find what has changed between now and working service... which is obviously the update. So they said talk to Apple. And they sent me some articles I need to look at to trouble shoot it.
I also sent a bug report to Apple about this because noone else seems to be getting these 2 bugs...

HT1349 iTunes radio frequently cuts out in the middle of a song and rebuffers--a lot! This is really annoying.

I have a dual platform system and when I use iTunes on the PC side, it frequently craps out. It suffers from constant dropout and needs to rebuffer. I went on here to create a post about it and found the choice of communities disappointing. Furthermore, the MAc side also suffers from this issue. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is always happening?

I don't have the issue, but I am curious what's different between you and me. If you use nslookup in Command Prompt on Windows or use Network Utility on OS X to lookup pri.kts-af.net - what does it say?
Is it a particular genre or station that you're testing, or did you try several?
Could you share one of the streams you listen to and see this with that so I can test?
Does it happen at all hours, or are there only certain hours you listen to the radio in iTunes?
I know I mostly listen in the office - maybe it only happens when everyone is at work and listening to the radio?

Printer now will not come out of sleep mode with new MiFi 5510L

I have a HP 3522 All In One wireless printer networked via my MiFI router that goes into sleep mode as it is supposed to after a set period of idle time but the only way I can get it back on line/wake up is to unplug it and plug it back in. While asleep, none of the buttons work and all print jobs fail because the 'printer cannot be found'. I never had this problem until I upgraded from an older MiFi unit to the 5510L.
I am using a MacBook Pro and MacBook Air both running OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
Any ideas?

KSutherland, I'm so sorry this is occurring with your phone. I understand how frustrating this can be when you're trying to use your phone and have to pull the battery. I researched information about your phone that have been reported by customers and didn't find this as a known issue. I also show the Bionic received a software update on December 9, 2011. I recommend updating your phone to the new software, which can assist with. I listed a link below with information and instructions for the update.

Additionally, I would also like to recommend clearing the cache and browser history. This can help the device from having slow functionalities. The steps are below:
From a Home screen, select the App menu (located in the lower right).
Select Browser.
If the application icon is missing, select App menu filter (located at the top) then select All apps.
Select Menu.
Select More.
Select Settings.
Within settings you can clear the following :
--Clear all, which clears all deletes history, cache, cookies, form data and passwords
--Clear cache, which clears visited website content stored on the device. The cache enables the browser to download only the content that has changed since the last time a website was visited. Since the browser only downloads changed content, pages are loaded faster.
--Clear history, which clears a listing of URLs (website addresses) that have been recently visited.
--Clear cookie data, which clears some cookies contain customized preference and logon information for previously visited websites. Once deleted, the website may prompt for this information again.

Why does my Macbook Pro with newest OS completely FREEZE when it comes out of sleep mode? Need to hard start with power button. Hating Apple right now.

Sleep mode. Open lid. Nothing. beach ball forever. Need to hold power button and hard start EVERY DAY. This is stupid because I heard of this problem a year or so ago. Fix???

Only 1 of my 2 Thunderbolt displays restarts when coming out of sleep mode now that I have installed Mavericks

My setup:
Early 2011 Macbook pro
2 Thunderbolt monitors: one monitor connected to the macbook pro, the second monitor connected to the back of the first monitor
Everything worked great until I installed Mavericks. Since installing Mavericks, when my laptop comes out of sleep mode only the monitor that is connected to the macbook wakes up. The second monitor does not wake up.
In order to get the second monitor to wake up I have to either unplug the thunderbolt connection from the back of the first monitor and plug it in again or unplug the first monitor's thunderbolt connection from the macbook and then plug it in again.
I've tried changing the order of the monitors that are connected to the macbook and rebooting the machine as well. Nothing works. Help?

Okay thanks, but I am a newbie who is not a very tech kind of a person. The only periphals I have are a kodak camera dock, a Canon 310 copier/fax/scanner and a pair of altec speakers. How do I determine if they all have drivers for my MAC? They all seem to work okay, if that is a sign, though the Kodak camera Dock is a bit slow. How also do I determine if they are Apple energy compatible? With each of these peripherals, do I simply disconnect them from my MAC one at a time to see if there improvement?

Streaming radio drops out

After installing the latest iTunes software update (last week)
streaming radio stations drop out after a minute and iTunes shuffles to the next song.
It never happened before.
What's up with that?

BBC at least in the past has often had problems with its Edge Servers and so listeners outside the UK would have problems that took a long while to be solved, the BBC's support system often failed to pass on info regarding problems. Specific countries/ISP s would have problems but as long as the UK service was unaffected the BBC tended not to notice.
I have not recently used BBC iPlayer online. The overseas low/high bandwidth on the iPlayer stream did not do anything other than restart the stream, overseas users only got the one low bandwidth, the option was an artefact.
AFAIK the BBC does still stream Flash and Windows

FMS Streaming Cuts Out and VOD restarts

I just purchased and installed FMS for my music streaming service. I got the streaming set up fine so that it streams mp3s using the VOD application, but quite regularly the stream will just cut out and the VOD application in the administration section will just disappear and restart with 0 clients. It doesn't even happen when I have that many connected clients, at times it's happened with just 15 users, and i've had Red5 running over 200 clients at a time. Does anyone know what the problem could be? This is a real pain as I have to monitor the server all the time!

The connection rejected line repeats for a while until I start the VOD application manually. There don't seem to be any other error messages in other logs.

Uniqlock music cutting out

i don't know how i can get help with this problem- certainly not from the developer, their answer is "we tested it and it works". Thaaaanks. Anyway, the issue is that uniqlock (which i love), used to work great but now the music dies every couple of segments. If you're not familiar with it, it alternates between a sliding clock, and girls dancing. I think the video and audio are cut up into 5 or 10 second chunks and then played randomly. Anyway, after i updated to ios 6.1.3, the music started cutting out for a few segments at a time. The ios update could be a coincidence, i'm not sure. So i tried contacting uniqlo and got a boilerplate "it works and we don't care just buy our clothes" answer. Then i tried deleting everything to do with uniqlock from my computer and from my phone. Synced, then re-downloaded the app, and.. same. After it downloads the first "season" of content, it does the same thing. Plays the first segment with video and audio, then the audio dies for a couple of segments, comes back eventually etc etc.
I don't want to give up on this app, i really like it, but it's one of those ones (as are a disturbing number of apps) that you're kind of left on your own if something goes wrong. Does anyone have any ideas for me? My only thought is that i'm somehow not getting rid of everything before reinstalling it. Are there the equivalent of plist or pref files on my phone somewhere? If it's not something like that, then the app doesn't work with this ios version and the developer is full of schnitzel.

BTW i just wanted to update this in the spirit of "dear uniqlo, why did you lie right to my face?". They released an update for the app, after telling me more than once that it was just me, there was no problem with the software. The reason given for the update? "To fix an issue with music intermittantly cutting out". Nice.

Ipad mini audio is distorted and cuts out.

Since updating to ios 7 the ipad mini sound keeps cutting out and is constantly distorted through the speakers and through headphones.
The side button doesn't mute the sound even though it is set to do that in settings.
I have two other identical spec ipad minis that are both fine and have none of thee problems since upgrading to ios 7
Any ideas?

I had the same problem, but it was fixed after I closed down all apps and restarted my iPad again.

ITunes cutting out via Airplay since firmware update

Today after updating the firmware for my airport express my music now cuts out playing from my macbook pro.
I've tried every comination of 5 ghz network and 2.4 ghz network and it cuts out every ten seconds or so.
This is maddening. My music system is hosed because of an "update" by Apple.

Same problem as yours but I've found a way to downgrade the Airport firmware on OSX Mountain Lion. You need to install the Airport Utility 5.6 on wichever OSX version you are (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482). Mountain Lion will refuse to install the package. To bypass this, you have to use the shareware Pacifist (http://www.charlessoft.com/) wich will enable the installation of the package.
From Airport Utility 5.6, select "manual configuration" / then click on the word "version" / and finally choose the firmware version 7.6.1 or whichever other previous version you wish. And voilà!
Does not resolve the 7.6.3 issue but at least, it permit to listen to audio without constants cut out. Just have to wait for another upgrade from Apple. But for my part, I'll stay away from them ;-)

IMac 24 radio frequency interferance during sleep mode

I have noticed that my iMac 24 produces radio frequency interference which I can hear on the AM broadcast band when I am listening to 1370 AM while using my computer.
When I am using the computer there is no noticeable interference on the AM tuner which is about 10 feet away from the iMac but as soon as the computer enters sleep mode, I can hear a constant tone on the radio about 1760 HZ along with the rest of the audio content normally broadcast. The tone is not overwhelming but is noticeable enough and annoying.
This 1760 HZ tone was determined as my closest approximation by comparing it with a piano key note when I play various notes for comparison purposes and it appears to closely correspond to key number 73 on a standard piano keyboard which is A6 or 1760 HZ.
I would like to know if this is a commonly observed problem and how to avoid it if possible. The iMac 24 I am using is a model A1225, part number MB418LL/A, serial number W89243Y00TG.
As far as I can recall, this has been true since I began using this iMac and did not happen after having the computer for a period of time and then appear suddenly. I just failed to connect the annoying tone to the sleep mode of the computer until recently when it was clear that as soon as the computer came out of sleep mode that the tone on the radio disappeared until sleep returned.

First - you aren't disconnecting any device while your computer is asleep are you? This can cause your problem.
Assuming this isn't the cause, let's do an SMC reset. Shut down the computer. Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables. Wait at least 15 seconds. Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time. Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer. Press the power button on the back to start up your computer. Does it now sleep and awake?
If not srojtas is right that one of your peripherals may be the culprit but rather than disconnecting one at a time I recommend that you disconnect everything but your ethernet cable (assuming you have one) and your USB mouse and keyboard. Create a new account and set the computer so that you have to choose which account to log into.
Restart and log in directly into the new account. If it sleeps and wakes up now you know that the issue is your account or one of your devices. One at a time, connect (and install support software for) a device. Does the computer wake and sleep? Move on to the next. You may find the culprit along the way. Removing it may or may not let the computer sleep depending on whether it is the device itself or the software.
BTW - the device at fault could be a USB or FireWire hub.
