IOS 8.1 ipad mini w/ retina

My mini ipad w/retina would not turn on after ios 8 upgrade and I tried everything including the steps above multiple times. I now have tried it again today w/ ios 8.1 and still nothing.  I am able to see the charger & itunes instruction on ipad and i follow the steps above. My itunes is up to date and it will go through the recovery mode process including extracting software, etc., but when it gets to the end it says that it is NOT able to restore my ipad. I thankfully have a current backup before this happened but it won't even let me go through the recovery process! I'm so frustrated and really DO NOT want to drive an hour to the apple store to stand in line with everyone that's frustrated.  Any last suggestions before I have to waste my day at the apple store?

These are the steps I was referring too from a previous post...
FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • After updating to iOS 8.0.2 on my iPad mini w/Retina, FaceTime crashes

I updated to iOS 8.0.2 on my iPad mini w/Retina Display 128Gb. Now, when I attempt to open the FaceTime app it begins to initialize and then simply crashes out. I can receive a FaceTime call and the FaceTime app will open but I cannot initiate a FaceTime call. I have “Restored” my iPad mini twice but on both occasions I have restored from a backup. As the behaviour continues, this leads me to believe that my backup is potentially corrupted. I do not wish to “Restore as new” because of the substantial time burden this would place on me to manually reinstall all of my apps, passwords, settings and customizations that ten months of usage of my iPad mini has entailed.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this problem? Will an impending iOS 8.1 update correct this issue? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I am heaving the same problem but in this case is rather exemptuated; i live in dubai and in order to use facetime i need a vpn service which i regularly use with facetime and Skype through my ipad mini retina display 2013; the problem started after i upgraded to iOS 8 and then it got worst after the 8.01 and then the 8.02 upgrade, it claimed to fix some bugs but unfortunately it worsen my performance; when i set the vpn on and then use the ipad it constantly shows a grey screen with the words "Poor Coneectivity" and it remains that way for the whole conversation, it is gruesome, i did reset my device and to make matters worse it didn't want to download all my apps from either my itunes nor through my iCloud backup, it was from bad to worse, after i got that settled it still remained the same "poor connectivity" issues as well as the wifi dropping as well as the data, and it claimed that my data and wifi were off when it wasn't.
At first i thought something is not right, not even the iOS 7 did this when it first came out; and today i realised that when i picked up my ipad it was frozen sideways as if i tilted it (when read or watch videos for a better perspective) and i noticed that the lock rotation icon was not turned on and it was locked in that sideways position; i had to reset the ipad and then it started to work again fine except for the facetime, which by the way bluetooth also gives me issues.
the only way i could verify my ipad's status was for me to use my iphone 6's facetime and it worked fine, the tilting the audio as well as the bluetooth; the only issue my iphone 6 gave me was that the wifi and data would suddenly come out asking me to connect to a wifi or turn on data for facetime use etc and it would try to reconnect; which is the same issue that a lot of people are facing with the ios8 upgrade and the latter upgrades were said to fix that particular issue but it didn't.
i am worried and i don't know if my ipad is going through hardware issues or its only the iOS setbacks that came with the upgrade, any ideas, thank you.

  • Ipad mini with retina display and iOS 8.0.2 blue screen issues

    Hello
My iPad mini with retina display with iOS8.0.3 is still showing up blue screen occasionally every day and restarting automatically. How to solve this?

    Hi!
I am facing the same issue too. But how come you have 8.0.3 while the whole world is on 8.0.2 ?
I tried resetting my iPad, restoring it, hard reset through DFU mode but NONE worked. It seemed to be okay for few days but then it started getting the blue screen restarts again.
Monday is the day, hoping 8.1 will fix this issue. ELSE Apple should shut the f*** up and instead of releasing all new line of products and concentrate on the disastrous OS it is rolling out.
    Regards
    Yasser
(FYI even as I am typing this response to you, there were many errors that held me from typing, the iOS 8 is so buggy)

iPad mini with retina still having wifi problems with iOS 8.0.2 - slow or none. Resetting temporarily fixes problem it very annoying. Please fix Apple! Not up to scratch.

I Have followed these steps, and tried others, such as resetting all my network settings. At best these only temporarily fix the problem - wifi still becomes slow or stops. I have other Apple devices connecting fine to my airport express. why is my iPad mini not working? Is it related to the fact it is 3G and I don't have a sim card installed? It is the current top of the range model with iOS 8.0.2. I paid over the odds for the best, and it is almost completely redundant.  Apple - I'm losing faith. You need to keep the public better informed and fix this problem fast, otherwise I will leave you for good.

  • How do I decline an iOS 8.0.1 update on my iPad mini with retina display when I already updated to 8.0.2?

How do I decline an iOS 8.0.1 update on my iPad mini with retina display when I already updated to 8.0.2?

How do you mean? Once you have 8.0.2 on there it shouldn't be asking you to download 'old' software.
Did the older installer download already and is lurking on your device? Settings, general, usage. Populate the list and you should see and be able to delete it from there.

  • IPhone 5 & iPad mini with retina iOS 7.0.4 bugs

After installing iOS 7.0.4 on my iPad mini with retina it has been sluggish compared to my iPhone 5 and has been rebooting very often it also freezes up a lot I've also been having iMessage problems on both devices any solutions?

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

Me too. I've been an Apple fan for a long time but things are starting to get painful. I hate telling people not to upgrade but I can't honestly recommend otherwise.
A bad thing is that these problems are not predictable. I have an iPad Mini - no retina that I got for free for opening a new bank account. I am a developer so I have run it on iOS 8 for some time. Even the released version has annoying bugs that weren't there on iOS 7. While the performance isn't great, it is useable. But a retina would have higher requirements and perhaps iOS 8 makes your machine too slow.
Do try all of the resetting and troubleshooting techniques. They may help.

  • Ipad mini with retina wifi extremely slow/dead after ios 8 update

Just updated my devices to iOS 8. Im having no issues with the Iphone 5s wifi works perfectly fine. But with the Ipad Mini w/ Retina I can't get any wifi. Its connected, I've reset the wifi & router. But my mini keeps saying there isnt any internet connection. Anyone else have this issue?

After updating my iPhone 4s that worked absolutely fine, i set about my iPAD 2,
took forever for the request made icon change to down loading, then installing. Once completed i had severe connection issues, Safari not finding servers, iOS telling me my password was incorrect so real problems, i could not even populate the BBC news app it just stuck as did Ebay, Amazon, Maplin etc Apps...
Not one to panic but terrified because i'm off on holiday for a week to Spain on Saturday, i use my iPad to remote my PC and remote assistance to systems i fit, and i have several hundred pages in Notes which i use as 'sticky's'.so do i need this like a hole in the head?
tried several reboots, eventually last resort before defaulting and clearing it out, and restoring, fearing loosing those precious notes (not certain they were all backed up), I reset my network settings (which wipes all stored login details for various sites, resets WiFi details etc),
To my Massive relief it cured all the connection problems i was having, so for some reason something must have corrupted.
you need to know what details you used on each site you use.
    suggest you all try it
Other suggestion is you do need a lot of spare memory space, so park large files onto PC in alternative cloud storage, then delete from your device. You can restore deleted apps afik no are charged again, so delete those your not really using making sure you keep the data safe.
    hope it helps

My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Wifi does not work correctly on iPad Mini w/ Retina display

I've found that Wifi does not work properly on the iPad mini w/ Retina display.
Some background: I own three iPads (iPad mini w/ retina display, iPad mini, and iPad 3rd gen), an iPod touch 5th gen, and a Macbook Air, and use them all frequently with my pocket Wifi router.
None of them exhibit any Wifi problems whatsoever except for my iPad mini w/ retina display.
    Here are the details:
In the middle of using Wifi with my pocket Wifi router, the Wifi connection will abrubptly drop, then reconnect. After the Wifi reconnects, it is no longer able to connect to the internet (even though Wifi itself is connected).
Once the iPad mini w/ retina display's Wifi gets into this state, the following may or may not restore WiFi temporarily:
    Restart the device
    Reset network settings
Yet, even if connectevitiy is restored, the problem will happen again within minutes.
When the iPad mini w/ retina display gets into this state, the Wifi on my iPod touch, other iPads, and on my Macbook Air work perfectly fine, so I know the problem is not with my Wifi device or it's connection, but specifically with the iPad mini w/ retina display
    Note:
The iPad mini w/ retina display never has any issues with my home or work Wifi networks. The problem only happens when connected to my pocket Wifi device. Yet, all of my other iOS devices and my MacBook Air work perfectly with my pocket Wifi device, therefore I know the problem is not with the pocket Wifi device, but with the iPad mini with retina display.
    Solutions:
Resetting the iPad mini w/ retina display to factory settings does not solve the problem
Resetting network settings on the iPad mini w/ retina display does not solve the problem
I have even replaced my original iPad mini w/ retina and got a new one. Yet, the new device exhibits the exact same behavior as the original device.
    Conclusion:
I know this is not a hardware problem (since it happened with both my original as well as replacement device).
I know this is not a problem with my pocket WiFi router, since it works perfectly with all of my other iOS devices and MacBook Air.
Therefore, this must be a software / firmware bug with the iPad mini w/ retina display. Apple will need to fix this in a future software update.
Has anyone else seen this problem?

I too have experienced this issue over the past two days... I have a 16gb ipad mini retina, for reference. I bought the device one week ago, and had not experience any issues at all until bringing my device to work. I logged into my work's enterprise level wireless network both yesterday and today, maintained normal wifi capabilities for 2-4 hours each day, and was then randomly dropped, both days. I tried hard resets, resetting my network settings, airplane mode, etc. Nothing has worked. I am still offline on my ipad mini retina.
My iPhone 5 is sitting right next to my iPad mini retina. The iPhone is currently connected to the same very network, and has been for the past two years. I have never lost connection on my iPhone's wifi, just my iPad mini retina.
This must be some kind of bug, as it does not sound like a hardware nor network issue.
Hopefully they fix this in 7.1.

  • Ipad mini (not retina) purchase question

Hi, If I bought an ipad mini from an apple store tomorrow (not the retina one), would it come with ios6 pre installed?

No way to know for certain.  Apple.com shows the ipad mini (not retina) as having ios 7.  If you are purchasing from a retail store, it will depend on if the device has been upgraded yet.

  • My ipad mini with retina's Battary life too short

I have used kindle for reading e-book. My ipad mini with retina is used the battary 1% per 4 minutes.
Is it normal case or not?
I think It is abnormal because three weeks after I had got the ipad. Its battary life is very good. It may be10 % per hour.
After some time I tried to download something via ipad safari as a result the download is failed, my ipad battary life gone bad (1% per 4 minutes)
I have 2 questions to ask you all
    1. Is it normal case that my ipad mini with retina is used the battary 1% per 4 minutes when used kindle for reading e-book?
    2. Do you think about virus or some malware that may impact battary life? If yes please give me a solution.
Thank you for your help. ^^

It's not a virus or malware as there are no known instances of these that affect iOS.

  • HT1222 Just bought a ipad mini with retina. On my settings page its showing ios7.0.4 software update. "Estimating time remainin..." but doesn't seem to complete update. This message has been showing since last evening. How can I end or complete this opera

I just bought an ipad mini with retina display. On my settings page it shows an update occurring for ios.7.0.4 with the message "Estimating time remaining..."
This update and message appeared last evening but doesn't seem to complete. It also says "downloading", but nothing is happening.
How can I complete the download or eliminate it?

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

  • Safari crashing on iPad mini (with retina display).

I'm a 4 month owner of the iPad mini (with retina display). I really find it really disgusting that Apple knows their Safari (and other browsers Mercury & Chrome) on the iPad without warning keep crashing to the home screen. IOS 7.1. Apple exchanged my tablet for they said a new one? However, as soon as I started using it (an hour later) at home same thing, CRASH CRASH CRASH NO APPS INSTALLED!!!  There are reports of the same crashing also on the i5's...
I'm also on the web looking for a tablet replacement that does not require me to buy an app so I can view all flash without have to find a work around...
