IOS 8.1 iPhone update problem

I've just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 8.1 and have lost over 15 GB of storage to "Other". I've done resets, powered down, etc etc but can't seem to clear the "Other" from the storage thus severely limiting the music, books, etc. that the phone should be able to hold. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

if that does not fix it then you may have a hardware fault and then it is a trip to an Apple Store

We are users here. We cannot possibly know when a new update will be available.

Recent iPhone update problem

Following the iPhone update on April 8, 2011, I found that;
1) all my email was gone
2) my iPhone internet settings are gone
3) I can't access ANYTHING (maps, text, phone, etc.)
4) all my apps which I downloaded were gone
I weas able to find the apps through trial and error finally
But I hvae an iPhone that I can't use for anything, not even a phone call. People I've spoken with have said that all their updates did not affect anything for them!!!

Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on another computer and restore your iphone.
Either way you have to restore your iphone.

IOS 4.2.1 update problems on iPhone 3G

I have noticed a few problems with the update. My iPhone is now back to being slow and choppy. My battery drains a lot faster. And when I go to the app store, it will only show some of the pictures of the apps, I have to close it and open it again to make it start showing pictures again. Also, my signal strength on both the cell service and WIFI fluctuate more that it did prior to the update. I have never seen my WIFI signal drop inside my house until I updated to this version of the iOS.
Also, about the slow and choppy problem....prior to iOS 4.2.1, a Genius Bar employee told me to re-setup the phone as new and then sync all my info. back on the phone. It was a pain to deal with reseting all of my setting, however it did help the speed of the phone on iOS 4.1 and I was enjoying my iPhone again, however as soon as I updated to iOS 4.2.1, it was back to being slow and choppy as I noted above.

Bought an iPhone 3GS, so this is no longer an issue.

possible causes:
1. Your antivirus is blocking access to gs.apple.com.
2. Your phone is jailbroken.
3. Your computer has been used at some time in the past to jaibreak some iOS device (not necessarily the phone with the problem), and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used.
4. Apple's activation servers are down (very rare, and never for more than an hour or so).
For 1. try disabling your antivirus.
For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer.

Trying to Restore Iphone, IOS 6.1.3 update Problems

I am trying to restore my ihpone. The latest software is updated to IOS 6.1.3, I tell itunes to restore my iphone. The restore function then tries to download the latest IOS 6.1.3, eventhough it has already been installed. Then while downloading IOS 6.1.3, although I don't need it, an error pops up and says it timed out.
How to I restore my iphone 4s?

There is nothing that you can do now except to restore the device. The iPad will not work until you restore the iOS. Don't your students backup? I would assume that iPads being used in the classroom would be backed up on a regular basis. If they do backup, you can restore the iOS, then restore from the student backup and either sync his content back to the iPad if you are using iTunes, or download it again in the various purchased tabs of the iStores on the iPad.

IOS 5.1 iPhone 4s Problem

I have updated my iphone 4s with iOS 5.1, now it shows me the the iPhone written screen with slider to unlock. When the phone is unlocked it takes me to Wi-FI networks screen to select available wifi network, post selection of network, it displays Thank you note saying "Your iPhone is set up, You're ready to start using the most advance iOS ever" and having link to Start Using iPhone.
Once I select Start Using Iphone it displays my home screen just for fraction of seconds and move to the Iphone written Screen again (where we started) and repeats the process again with same stapes.
I am unable to call or recieve the phone calls.
Can you please help to resolve the problem?

Hi Nisar, I had the same problem and contacted support. The suppervisor had me create a new account on my computer, I then had to restore my phone as a new phone using iTunes in this account and then it was a matter of resyncing everything onto the phone. Make sure everything is backed up on your phone first. Hope this helps, good luck.

Iphone updating problems

I am unable to update my iPhone OS. When I go to update it, I get a message "Unable to Verify Update b/c you are not longer connected to the internet".
But I am connected to the internet, both from my home wifi network, or my phones network. Hmmm. Same problem with my work iPad, which I use at home.
Any suggestions? I could not update from iTunes, when the phone was connected to my MacBook. Ideas? Thanks!

IOS 5.0.1 Update Problems

IOS 5.1 Update Text Message Tone Problems.
I have a 3 G S Iphone and updated to ISO 5.1 which since then have had problems with phone text message alerts being distorted.
My daughter has a iphone 4 which hers did the same but far worse. It was taken back to Apple Store where they say they havent heard anything about this problem.
They replaced my daughters phone for a brand new one and this one is doing the same also.
Anyone else experiencing this problem????

Lizzie7, I've had SO many problems with my iPhone 3Gs since I upgraded and of course Apple says they don't see anything wrong. My issue is I either upgrade to the iPhone 4s or go to another phone all together. I just don't want to keep dealing with this every year when they decide to upgrade their software. I think it's wrong that they do this and I believe they are aware it's a problem. I have a friend who works for Apple and he said they do put code in there that slows the older phones down and cause problems so you will upgrade. If this is in fact true, I'm very disappointed in Apple.

Ios 7.1.2 update problems

After the latest 7.1.2 update my iphone 5S does not play my ringtones (despite them being checked in contact info), does not address battery problems, and has duplicated my 500 contacts which I have set to display last, first names. Now I have that plus first, last names. I have checked my address book on my MacBook Pro and it is correct. I have synced at least six times to no avail. AND, it has installed ALL of my iTunes songs despite having indicated to only sync selected/checked songs. These bugs have doubled my GBs usage. Also, the new software update for the MacBook has created some issues in the first half-hour: iTunes unexpectedly quit (for no apparent reason), mail is not downloading. I have restarted both the phone and the macbook - however; no resolution.

i had a problem updating ios to 7.1.2. i update my iphone4s ios 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 and my iphone CAN'T READ MY SIM, MODEM FIRMWAY GONE, IMEI GONE, and CAN'T HEAR SOUNDS ON MY SPEAKER but using earphone works, BATTERY DRAIN MUCH FASTER THAN BEFORE. i had update my ios many times before but this is the first time i encounter a problem like this. Ios 8.3/iPhone 6 problem connecting to Pioneer car stereo

Pioneer model AVH-X2600.
There are two ways to connect to my car stereo to play music: iPod mode or Bluetooth. Prior to 8.3 the BT connection would automatically pause my music after about 10 seconds. After I push Play on the stereo it would continue on without issue. Following the 8.3 update, after about 10 seconds on the BT connection there is this awful scratching/skipping noise, not unlike a skipping cd. But after 5-10 seconds of that, everything is back to normal.
Prior to 8.3 the iPod mode would take a good 20 secs to connect, but then everything would play normally. Now, with 8.3, it won't connect at all.
I don't have any problems with BT connections to other speakers, so maybe this is a Pioneer problem?? Anyone else having this same problem?

Apple is messing with car connectivity for the new car functionality. The "updates" are breaking iPod mode on multiple vehicles. iOS 8.4 Beta 1 is even worse. Connects fine but most functionality is broken.

IPhone update problems!

As alot of people, I have encountered the problem of NOT being able to sync my phone with my G5 ever since the latest iPhone & iTunes updates. The phone lights up and indicates it is plugged in, but it will only appear in iPhoto, and not iTunes. The same issue with plugging it into the wall adapter... The phone lights up and indicates it is plugged in, but nothing.
The geniuses at tech support have decided to offer this solution: Update your USB Hardware to USB 2.0. Are you f*ing kidding me!!!!

Try a forced restore. Reboot your computer, start iTunes, connect the iPhone to the computer. Wait. If you get an error, or nothing happens for several minutes hold the sleep/wake and home buttons for a long time (~20 seconds) until you get a message on the screen that it is restoring.
If all of these fail take it to your Apple store.

TS3694 New iPhone update; problem!!!

I am in the process of updating my iPhone 5S and all it shows now is a picture telling me to plug it into iTunes. I have plugged my cord into my USB and my iPhone has done nothing. My iTunes is up to date. Is anyone else having this problem?

Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore.
Make sure your iTunes is version 11.1.5.5 or higher.
