IOS 8.3 - Windows 7 Does not Recognize presense of Phone or IPad

Connected both my IPAD air and IPhone 6 to my PC (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit 6.1 Build 7601 - should be the latest version) this morning and synced both to ITunes prior to upgrading Itunes and IOS.  I then upgraded to latest version of ITunes (12.1.1.4) and then upgraded both devices to the new  IOS 8.3 (over home WIFI).  Thus, I know my lightening cable and PC were working with both devices because of the sync.  However, now when I plug either unit into my PC, they are NOT recognized by the computer.  In fact,no hint that there is a device plugged into the USB port. There was one point where I tried to sync the phone wirelessly and got a message to connect to itunes and select update over WiFi - but clearly with no success.  When I got into settings - ITunes wifi sync, the option is grayed out.   I have changed USB ports, plugged in other devices to confirm the USB is working (it is) but when I plug in the phone - Windows is clueless.  It is almost as if there is a setting on the phone that disables PC connectivity.I rebooted the computer and tried reconnecting.  No luck.  Same results.
Well - I just tried connecting and reconnecting the Iphone and Windows did make the device connected sound and displayed a message that Windows doesn't recognize the device. It notes that the device has malfunctioned.  It helpfully suggests to reconnect and if the message repeats to replace the device,. I'd rather avoid that.  I then tried reconnecting and for a couple of tries got the connect/disconnect sounds in rapid succession, but no nothing.   I tried rebooting the phone and reconnecting, but Widows doesn't even register it now.  Just tried reconnecting the IPAD but it isn't recognized at all.  The settings for ITUNES Wifisync are also grayed out.
I'm clueless.  Any help is appreciated.

Try going into the control panel. Add/remove programs. Uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile device service, and Apple Application Support. THen exit out, restart your computer just to clean out the cobwebs. Then redownload and reinstall iTunes and try to connect again.

  • Tried to update my iPod touch 4 G to IOS 5 but I tunes does not recognize it. Everything worked OK when I did my other touch. I have had no problems updating to updates in the past. Any suggestions

I have been trying to update my IPod touch 4g to IOS 5, but I tunes does not recognize it and says it is up to date. When I Updated my other touch yesterday every thing worked great. but this one does not seem to want to go beyond 4.2.1(8C148)

Ok make sure you have iTunes 11. Then connect iPod touch to computer then iTunes should pop up automatically. After it opens on the bottom left there should be a tab where it says your name and then iPod. For example (Johns iPod) click on that then it brings all your information of the iPod including restore and updating.
    Dont worry

My MacBook Pro, running 10.7.3, does not recognize when my iPhone and iPad are on the same network, thus it does not synch.  Any ideas?

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

  • Windows 7 does not recognize my iphone

My iPhone 4 is not recognized by my Windows 7 laptop.  iTunes on this PC recognizes it okay, but Windows 7 does not see it as a camera.  On my old WinXP machine, it is recognized with no problem.

Did you check the camera notification?
Maybe you'll need to enable it again and reverse the process described in this article:

  • ITunes does not recognize my iPhone 4 or iPad 2

I have a Sony Viao with Windows Vistas Home Edition, and of course am running as an Administrator.
Anyone has faced this problem earlier - any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have this problem with my windows machine.  Unfortunately, a new policy in the company requires that ITunes not be on your computer or you may be terminated.  I've got one week to figure out why things are different so that I am good to go for the future.
First off, copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from your work computer to an external drive.
Copy it to /Music/ on your personal computer.
Try using a USB port on the back of the computer.

  • I have updated iphone 4 to iOS 6 now itunes 10.7 on windows 7 does not recognize it

Hi I have updated iphone 4 to iOS 6 and also updated itunes to 10.7, now when I connect my device via usb it does not appear in itunes. I have followed all the advice in troubleshooter including uninstalling and reinstalling itunes but it still doesn't appear. Please can anyone help with this? I am not really very tech minded so a simple solution would help!! thankyou

Thank you. I ended up performing the Restore after I did an Update, and performing the restore solved the problem----I now have a functioning iPhone with all of my data, pics, and apps on it. Fortunately I made sure that I backed up my iPhone before I tried to update to iOS6. Man, what a headache though, and it sounds like I had it easy compared to some other horror stories I've read. I won't update my iOS on my iPhone again; i've learned my lesson. It remains to be seen whether iOS6 will be worth it :-)

  • Windows 7 does not recognize device

I have been successfully connecting my 8330 to a desktop PC running XP for quite a while.  The device sw is v4.5.0.175.  I recently got a new Lenovo T410 laptop, running Windows 7.  I have downloaded the DM software (v5.0.1) and verified that my device SW is up-to-date, but the laptop is still not recognizing that the device is connected (via USB).  I've tried it in all the USB ports on the laptop, and also followed all the steps detailed in KB13146, with no luck.  I can't find anything in any of the forums that reference Windows 7.  Can anyone provide help to resolve this problem?

Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. I can attest that DTM does indeed recognize a BB under Win7...mine is exactly so.
