IOS 8 and photos

I think I'm confused and need clarification.
I downloaded ios8 and i know theres no more photo stream but i thought if i activated my iCloud and photos that all my photos would go to collections or moments and stay there even if deleted from my album or recently added.
It seems that is not the case ,they also get deleted from there..
what am i doing wrong that they don't stay there or maybe a better question would be ,where are they going?
it seems when i take a photo

Photo uploading using Safari is indeed not working right now.  Many forum members have reported problems.

You could try to upload to Facebook using the Photos.app. Select the the photos in the "Recently Added" album and use "Share", then select Facebook.

  • IOS 8 Photos:  Hide and Hidden Album

I think is must be missing the point of the "hide" option and "Hidden" album in iOS 8 Photos app.  More specifically, it would make sense to me if, viewing the "Hidden" folder we're password protected.  As it is now though, best I can tell, all it seems to do is move the photo to an album called "Hidden" that anybody can still view.
To clarify, I'm only speaking strictly in terms of how it shows up on the iPhone itself.  Maybe it has effects upon other considerations, like whether or not it gets backed up to icloud?
But as far as th presentation on the iPhone, it doesn't seem to do any real hiding, as far as I can tell.
    Presumably I'm missing something?

This is such a cluster-f*ck.  I was stunned when I found the change to iOS 8 brought this mixed up order of my events from my iMac's iPhoto.  Having them in Events by month/year was the only way I could keep a reasonable handle on where everything is.  This is completely unacceptable from Apple.
Then again, it seems from what I read around the Internet, those of us using iPhoto as our managing software AND using it to sync pics to our i-devices are a clear and dwindling minority.  Maybe Apple just didn't think it important enough to bother, but they need to fix this.
What would have been completely helpful and awesome with iOS 8 would be the importing of keywords (and descriptions, but at least keywords) for those of us syncing from iPhoto.  I can understand why Apple wouldn't have done so years ago (memory onboard our i-devices), but today there's no reason for this.  Those tiny, tiny bits of data should come over with the photos to make them searchable by keyword.  I'd care less about the Events being out of order if I could search by keyword on my iPhone or iPad.
Come on Apple... we have enough storage space to make this happen.

  • Transferring Music and Photo Files from Mac OS 10.5 to iOS 6.0

    Hello,
I recently purchased an iPad 4 that runs iOS 6.0. I would like to transfer my music and photo libraries from my iMac that runs OS 10.5.8 ((Leopard). My iMac is network wirelessly on my LAN along with an iBook, printers, and a PC. I understand that I'm not able to add the iPad to the network, unfortunately. However, I found an app (Good Reader) that lets me create a WiFi connection between my iMac and iPad, but only transfer files into the Good Reader app itself.  Can someone suggest a workaround to be able to transfer my music and photo libraries so I can use them on the iPad? thank you very much for any ideas.

  • I updated to the iOS 6 and lost all my videos and photos. How can I recover them?

I updated my I Pad 2 to the iOS 6.0 and lost my videos and photos, how can I get them back?

If you synced your photos and video to a computer (as you should do to store this data off a device), then you can sync them back to the device using itunes.  Otherwise you are at the mercy of a backup, if you ever made one.  Many users have lost photos and videos when performing a restore from icloud.  You may be one of them.  However if previously you used photo stream to sync photos to other devices, then you may still have them there.  Turn on photo stream on the iPad 2 to get them back.  Video, however, does not work on photo stream.

  • HT5457 Help! I used to upload photos via ios and it was always published up to my 5th photos, but on the 6th, it just go to ios photos album and was not published on my fb's timeline...

Help! I used to upload photos via ios and it was always published up to my 5th photos, but on the 6th, it just go to ios photos album and was not published on my fb's timeline...

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • I have lost my contact and photos after  downlaod new ios

i have lost my contact and photo on my iphon 4 after daownload new ios  how  i c an return back thanks

Downgrading an iOS is not supported by Apple but that would not bring the items back anyway.
What photos are you talking about?  If they were synced to the iPod then you will have to get them from the computer from which they were synced.  If the photos were taken by or saved to the iPod then they should be in the backup.  The same with notes.
One the computr go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and look at the da and time of the iPod backup.  If it corresponds to before the update was performed or at the beginning of the update then the itmes should be in the backup.  Restore theiPod from backup.  Make sure thatyou have auto syning turned off other wise when ou connect the iPod to the computer iTunes will backup the iPod which does not have the items and delete the old backup.  To turn off, go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that say Prevent iPods.... syncing.

  • How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?

How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?  It says I don't have enough room to upgrade so I have deleted some of everything but do not see an improvement in my storage space. Help?

    No need to empty anything.
You can update by connecting your phone to iTunes on your computer. This way you bypass the space limitations.
    Good Luck

  • IOS 7 background is white, I changed to black now my wallpaper and photos color and clarity gone!! How do I fix that

Since I inverted the color on the background from white to black my wallpaper and photos are messed up in color and clarity, what happened, how do I fix that!

I've installed iOS 7 on an iPhone 4 and I notice that in Search the keyboard displays with black keys but the all white Mail interface has a white (and quite bright) keyboard.  So why can't the Mail keyboard also be black? Furthermore, why are such aspects of the interface not even customizable at this point in the evolution of the software?
One solution, use the option to 'invert colors' found in the Accessibility settings under Settings > General . That's a nice way to dim the overall interface, especially useful when using the phone in a dark place or for a more gentle viewing experience when reading or using the phone in low light, until you realise that by inverting colors, it flips your wallpaper image from a positive image to a negative one. Really? Come on, this stuff is elementary.
Neither of these points prevent using the older device with the new IOS smoothly, but they stand out as annoyances for the older hardware that makes it feel more elegant in previous versions of the iOS.
Plenty of Apps allow customizeable interfaces when it comes to keyboard colors, brightness and scaling text. Apple's iOS has all the elements but lacks implementing them for user customization. Stuff like this seems like left over items not addressed before launching the product.

  • Am I going to lose texts, emails, and photos if I upgrade to ios 5?

My husband upgraded his phone to ios 5 several months ago, and lost his photos, emails, and texts.  Is this still a problem?  I have text threads on my phone that I cannot lose.

You will lose your text messages and Photos unless you create a Backup before doing so.
The emails should be stored on the server so those will come back once the Email account is re-added to the Device.
First thing before you update you will want to create a backup
    Connect device to computer
    Open iTunes
In itunes on the left hand side you should see the iPhones name under Devices -Right click the iPhones name and left click the backup button- After Doing so you should be ready to update.
Keep in mind some backups may fail so you will want to transfer the photos to the computer.
On windows XP click Start >All Programs>Accessories>Windows camera Scanner Wizard - import
On Windows Vista/7 Click Start>Computer- Right click the phone under devices- Import Photos.
On Mac - Open iPhoto - click on the phones name under devices -Click import all at the bottom right.
After doing so you should be set!

  • What happened to camera roll and photo stream with newest IOS upgrade?

I have upgraded my iPad 3 to the newest IOS release, but not my iPhone so far.  I noticed that Camera Roll and Photo Stream are still available on my iPhone but not on the iPad.  What happened?

the he firet versions of iOS 8 replaced the PhotoStream and Camera Roll albums with the Recently Added album. The Recently Added album contains photos for thirty days then moves them to the Photo Collections area. This definitely caught many people by surprise. Apple announced on October 16th that the next update of iOS 8 which will be 8.1 will bring back the Camera Roll. 8.1 is scheduled to be available October 20 according to Apple.

  • Syncing photos between ios and Mac

    Hi
How to sync photos between Mac and ios .. iPhoto is confusing .. If I create an album on Mac and share it to ios
Through iTunes I won't be able to add or delete photos to it with ios which is strange .. If I use photo stream album
Created on ios I won't be able to add photos for them with my Mac so how to do such a simple task with iPhoto ?

Not sure what you're asking here. The only connection between iphoto for mac and iPhoto for iOS is a name. Other than that they have nothing in common. So, no you can't manage albums created on your Mac with iPhoto for iOS and vice versa.

  • I have yet  to update my iPhone 4 to the latest iOS software. How do I save photos to my iCloud photo stream that were taken before I activated my iCloud account and photo stream ?

I have yet  to update my iPhone 4 to the latest iOS software. How do I save photos to my iCloud photo stream that were taken before I activated my iCloud account and photo stream ?

You have a couple of options:
    Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot.  This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
    Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll.  This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once.  Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll.  These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream.  (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)
