Ios 8 app store updates badge icon not resetting

my iphone 6 is showing on the app store badge icon there are 7 updates available.  Opening the app and going to updates, they all appear as OPEN.
I cannot get rid of the icon without resorting to disabling it via notifications under settings.
I updated to ios 8.02 and it still appears.  Also tried the trick of tapping a TAB 10 times to refresh the app but the update count reappears soon after.
Have tried to discover any other solution but none available.  Dont know if this has been reported to Apple as a bug.

Hello … firstly I am not technology minded & don't know the jargon … just gone from iPhone 3 to 6 !!
Solved this problem by: Settings icon, choose iTunes & App Store turn off all selections for automatic updates
Turn phone off & on.
Then reactivated the automatic update selections.
Problem was solved.
Hope I explained process clearly enough.

  • Remove the App Store update Badge notifications

How can I remove the App Store update Badge notifications?

you CAN delete them it has to do with metadata!!  google metadata  removal of notifications and there will be plenty of explanations, Also look it up on youtube, I just finished watching a video on it!!  there are always ways to remove things on any operating system, Just some are easier than others.  if you don't know or only have wrong info to give  then just keep your trap shut!!!! obviously there is a way to go around everything, Hackers have taught sony and the government all about this! (common sense)  so if you don't know move along!!  obviously I'm not advocating hacking, What I am advocating is people in chat rooms judging others or giving misleading info just to mess with others. You don't have anything more important to do than to  try and misguide an innocent until proven guilty user with a question?   Just because they don't want to update an app doesn't mean they are "doing something illegal:"  many apps with updates lose features and  actually makes an app that we use to enjoy very much, now not so great!!   you all know I'm right because anyone with a smartphone has been through this, Do i update or not?  we've all had that question. and as far as apple is concerned,  had everyone "updated" there software last year when they rolled out the new what i like to call SECURITY BREACH update  a lot more than the millions that were already exposed would be  ****** off too!!  Software update for the most part is a good thing, they fix bugs and allow our machines to run smoother, but don't for one moment think that the software updates are without flaws and certainly don't think they "the apps companies" have your best interest in mind!!

  • Looks like updates via the App. store update option is not working again. Comments?

Looks like updates via the App. store update option is not working again. Comments?

There are a number of other threads from people reporting a problem with a blank Updates tab in the App Store app - it looks like there is a problem at Apple's end which they need to fix.
Some posts are suggesting that you if you go into the Purchased tab in the App Store app you might be able to update the apps from there, though you will need to scroll through the list to find those with updates and individually update them.

  • IOS 6.1.2 - "Request Timed Out" - iOS App Store Updates

Since upgrading my iPhone 5 and iPad mini to iOS 6.1.2, the "Updates" tab of the App Store no longer loads. It shows a blank screen for a long time and sometimes then shows a popup "The request timed out". The badge count over the App Store icon still shows a number, both on the home screen and over the "Updates" tab icon in the App Store.
I have tried restarting, and on both wifi and cellular. The rest of the App Store appears to work and load normally.
One or two tweets on this but not much else so thought I'd start a topic. Anyone else got this?

I have the same problem as the original poster, running an iPad 2 with the latest iOS updates. The proposed solution (the problem seems to have just gone away for some users) does not hold true for me.
I have closed and re-started the App Store app, to no avail. Also, the rest of the app store is available, just not updates. The app badge shows that nine updates are available, but clicking on the Updates tab always results in a wait of several minutes, and then a message that "The request timed out" with no further information.
Next I will try re-starting the iPad itself. Since many, many others are having the same issue, I would suspect Apple is aware of the problem, despite the customary lack of acknowledgement.

  • TS1717 Apps store updates badge shows 3 updates but nothing appears in the window...??

Apps store udates badge on my iPhone indicates 3 updates available but nothing shows in the window......anyone had this issue and what is the fix..?

I have the same issue start yesterday. I called Apple as I believed the issue was with the App Store app update server. An Apple support rep confirmed I was correct. The issue now seems to have been resolved.
I told Apple support rep that they should have issued an email to their App Store customers or placed a note on there website so the customers wouldn't waste their time trying to figure out what happened and/or waste time trying to fix an issue that they could never fix.

  • App Store update badge not showing

I'm using iOS 6, and I haven't had any issues with this before.  Recently, the little red badges notifying me there's an update have not been appearing.  I haven't changed anything, and there's no option for it under the Notification settings.

I noticed that myself....I have no clue why that is occurring.
I chcek them in the App store periodically.

  • IOS 7 App Store Updates/Badge Issue

My app store has a notification badge that says I have updates, but when I open the app store and click "updates," it quickly shows me the apps, and then, one second later, the screen says that all of my apps are up to date. Is anyone else having this problem?

Resurrecting old thread, but I'm having the same problem on multiple devices.
More specifically, I am updating apps via cable sync from desktop Itunes. The apps are updated on the devices via the cable sync, but the counter stays there. As noted in the original post, when I open app store app on device, the apps needing update will first show Update next to them, then quickly change to Open, but the counter remains.
    Iphone 6, iOS 8.1.2
    Ipad 2 iOS 8.1.2
    Iphone 5 iOS 8.1.2
I called Apple service (my iPhone 6 is still under warranty), they had no clue what was happening. All they did was told me to call them back another day and gave me a case ID.
I have rebooted devices and restored them both as new and from backup. When the restore is done, the counter goes away, but then when a new app needs updating, it happens again.
Anyobody having this issue recently and fixed it? It's very annoying.

  • IOS app store updates won't work

    What happens is this:
The App Store icon shows that an update is available for some app. When I tap on it, then select Updates (so I'll know which app needs updating), it says all apps are up to date!
This happens on the iPad and jPhone both. iOS 6.0.1.
Why is this happening, and how can I fix it?

Well if it works OK elsewhere then I would be inclined to think that the Router is the point of failure. This is what I would do.... Check the supplier for any firmware upgrade. Then I would be inclined to run a backup on the configuration then reset the router and then power it off and on and then logon as the administrator setup the same configuration as it used to be [backup and restore]. Get the iPhone to forget the network or you can reset the Network Settings/General/Reset/Network Reset which is probably a better option. Power everything OFF [cold start] Power up the Modem first then the router and then the iPhone connect to the network. On the router set the IP lease for the iphone to never expire. If that does not work see if you can borrow another router and set it up at your location and see if that works. Good Luck..

  • App Store Update Page will not find or install 10.2.3

I am having trouble with the App Store recognizing and downloading the update to OS 10.2.3.  It worked fine on my MacBook Air, but is giving the following problems on my Mac Pro and iMac, both of which are running 10.2.2:
1  Either the Updates page just keeps spinning with the ball looking for an update (or)
    2.  The update page says "No Updates Available".
It does give me the option to manually download OS X, but gives the waring that I already have 10.2.2 and it would be quicker to use the updates page.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

There is a problem with Apple’s servers that only they can fix. The problem has been going on for several days. You can try rebooting first and see if that gets the apps to show up in the updates tab.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
This is a workaround only and not a fix. If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    Select update on the Apps
Hopefully the red notification number will go away after the updates are applied.
Another option is to update your apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the updated apps to the iPad.
    1. Launch iTunes
    2. Click on Apps in the list under the Library heading in the left Sidebar.
Click on Updates at the top in the window on the right
    Update all of the apps
Connect your iPad and Sync with iTunes
If you do not see the sidebar in iTunes 11 - go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu at the top.

  • App Store updates and purchases not downloading

I have an iPad 2 with iOS 5.0 installed. Everything has been working smoothly until about an hour ago when I tried to download an app and also update 6 existing apps. I entered my password...it accepted it...and went to install them but nothing is happening. No spinning icon indicating something is downloading and the apps all say waiting. Everything else in iPad works fine...I have internet connectivity but the apps won't update/install. This has never happened before. I tried tunrning off/on device and still having same problem.
My suggestions? My iPod Touch on same network ( different account) is working fine and I can install apps and updates.

Have you agreed to the new TOS (terms of service)? I had to do that after I updated to iOS5. Try, through iTumes, downloading some free app, see if that triggers the popup to agree and see if you can download then.

  • IOS App Store update loop

I was trying to down load a new app from the iPad App Store. It was called Cards from Apple. Before it downloaded I was told Apple had updated its policies regarding the App Store. That I had to read the changes and click agree. I followed the instructions. Read all 42 pages and had them sent to my email. I then clicked agree.  Then I click done. When it began to attempt the download it told me the policies in the App Store have change,  I had to read the changes and click agree. I have done this ten times and am still stuck in a loop.  I turned off the iPad and tried it again, same loop.  Any suggestions?  I am not at home so I can't download the app from the iTunes Store and agree to the changes from there.

It's apples ends problem, I'm same as you. They just fixed this loop issue. Try that one last time, and you should be good. ;)

  • App store updates icons go from update to open & remain on screen.  How do I get them to disappear from the update screen?

App store - UPDATES screen - icon status is UPDATE - hit UPDATE ALL -  icon status changes to OPEN - icons remain on screen
How do I get the updated icons to disappear from the Updates screen?

This is a new feature of iOS 7. A record is kept of which apps were updated and when. Tis is useful if you have apps set to automatically update.

  • App Store update counter on dock icon does not reset properly

There's definitely a bug in the App Store for Mac. The update counter does not reset properly. I have purchased only one app so far, and this morning the dock icon indicated a (1) meaning an update was available. I downloaded the update and the ( 1 ) disappeared. When I quit the App Store, the (1) reappeared on the icon in the dock. Now whenever the App Store launches the (1) disappears and whenever the App Store quits it reappears so it always looks like an update is waiting.

    Hi Colin,
Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.dock.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

You are doing all that you cn do right now other than to update the apps in iTunes on your computer and sync them to the iPad.
There has been a problem with the App Store updates tab for a few days now and we are all waiting for Apple to fix it.
Look at all of the discussions on the iPad forum that are talking about this right now.
