IOS 8 Camera roll gone!

Even if I create another new album by transferring all photos from collections to this new create album... resulting duplicate photo from my own folder that has already created before this updates. Pls fix this and is annoyed and frustrating especially those photos I have already group them in my own folder.

I put all the ones I wanted back into Favorites. Now my entire Photos App is nice and tidy for the first time in four iPhones.

  • Why is the IOS 8 camera roll gone?

Why did the camera roll album go away after downloading IOS 8. Now I have to go through tthe dates of every photo I took. Also some of my photos I took this year went into (started) a brand new date/album in 1970 I wasn't alive back then!

This is not correct. Camera Roll arranged things by the order in which you saved / took the photos. The "Collections" stores them by metadata within the photo itself, which for many users is not useful. Same with Recently Added... which doesn't store them in the order in which you added them, but again, by internal datestamps within the photo.
I am an artist, and make drawings based on photos I find and save. Some of those photos might have been taken years ago, so now on iOS8 a photo I saved mere seconds ago, instead of being right where I expect to see it within Camera Roll, is now mired somewhere within Collections or Moments with no easy way to find it.
Similarly, I used to save a photo, then draw it and save a photo of my drawing, and they'd be side-by-side within Camera Roll, convenient for posting to social media sites. Now, the original photo, since there is no Camera Roll, cannot be posted or even seen by the most popular Apps such as Instagram.
In short, Apple decided to arrange photos according to internal computere-produced data within the photo itself, within "Collections" instead of "Albums", and further confused things with PhotoStream and iPhoto and iCloud and iCloud Drive and Family Sharing, to the point where many users simply do not know what to do.
    It's time Apple responded.

  • Camera roll gone after iOS upgrade

I see that with the iOS upgrade "Camera Roll" is no longer available in Photos.  It appears to have been replaced with "Recently Added".  Well I had quite a few photos in "Camera Roll" and they are now missing.  "Recently Added" is taken literally - it no longer has older photos in it.  Is there a place where my photos can be retrieved?

Wow, that isn't very obvious.  I went into the Photos category at the bottom of the screen to finally see 'Collections'.  These photos are sure hidden deep.  Not the most convenient but at least they are still there.  Thank you!

  • Camera Roll gone after update

    Hello,
I just updated my phone to (ios 6.1) and now my camera roll is completely missing.  There seems to be a lot of "other" storage showing, so I am thinking that my photos might still be there, but is there any way to restore the camera roll?  A select number of my photos were restored to the photo stream, but the camera roll is completely gone.  Please help.

You can try restoring from backup.
You did import all camera roll pics to your computer before updating?

  • Camera roll gone

SSince updating to iOS 8 my camera roll is gone. It gad 1500+ images. It's now showing me the most recent 350 photos. I don't use albums/dates/times. How can I get this back, or how do I get all images in one folder without clicking on photos and then moments.

Photos in the Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. Everything is not "linked" to your PC in this regard. Importing photos from the Camera Roll is done manually as when importing photos from any other digital camera.
Photos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process as well as 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app. This data should be included with your iPhone's backup unless there is a problem with the backup.
When you connected your new iPhone to iTunes on your computer the first time, were you prompted to transfer the backup for your previous iPhone to your new iPhone? If so, was the backup for your previous iPhone transferred to your replacement iPhone?

  • IOS 8 Camera Roll workaround

FYI, the Camera Roll may be gone from Photos, but you can still browse photos/movies taken with the camera or saved to the Camera Roll by using Image Capture on your Mac, or browse the photos from Windows Explorer.

No need to use a computer to view your photos. With iOS 8 there is no Camera Roll or My Photo Stream any more.  The MPS has been replaced with the Recent Activity album.
The CR is replaced by the Collections mode.  The closest we can get to the Camera Roll is to turn off the Summarize Photos feature in the Settings/Photos & Camera pane and view the photos in the Collections/Moments window.

  • Camera roll gone in iOS8. Why do i have two sets of photo in my iPhone?

I have just got iOS8 on my iPhone 5s. I released "Camera Roll" its gone and the only place to find photo taken from my phone will either from "Events" or "Collections". It's near imposable to find photo from "Events" as it does not put my photo in the right order according to timeline.
The problem with "Collections" its just not user friendly. Also, all my photo have two sets in "Collections". Is there any way that I can delete one set of my photo from "Collections"? What do I need to do on my iTunes, iPhoto and my iPhone? This will be must appreciated.
Finally I really want to have "Camera Roll" back. Its really useless to have "Collections" as it sort out my photo via time. That makes a lot of space between photo when its rang by date. its too small to see when its range by year. So, it is really useless things to have. I prefer to have "Camera Roll" back.

there seems to be two sets of Library files.
You should have three different folders named "Library". They are
<~/Library>, or the Library folder in your Home folder (aka, Library folder from user domain)
</Library>, or the Library folder at the root level of your startup disk (aka, Library folder from local domain)
</System/Library>, or the Library folder in the System folder (aka, Library folder from system domain)
And under no circumstances should you even dream of deleting any one of them.
Should this dream ever occur, you need to get cured by reading a basic book about Macs, eg, David Pogue's "Missing Manual…".

  • IOS 8 : Camera Roll & Photo Stream disappeared

Since upgrading to IOS 8 on both iPhone & iPad, Camera Roll & Photo Stream have disappeared off both devices.
Checked in iTunes & not shown.
Is there any way of restoring or just lost with upgrade?

Just make sure you're in moments rather than in years. And it will only take you to the maps if you click on the location names (when you're in collections) so click on the photos instead. That's all I can tell you to do since they've went ahead and taken off "Camera Roll"..

  • Anybody missing the scroll arrows in iOS 5 camera roll ?

I use my iPhone a lot as a photo camera, and since iOS 5 I miss the scroll arrows in the camera roll. When you take many photos of the same subject they come usefull to jump quickly between photos to visualize better their differences.

It turned my iTouch from a useful business tool -- I could load photos onto my iTouch and take it out onto the field or the dugout when I talked to baseball players and go over video clips with them frame by frame -- into a really expensive MP3 player.
It's also more than a bit frustrating because I bought the iTouch for this purpose.
At least I can still do something like this on my iPad (but who knows for how long).

  • IOS 8 camera roll

I Have read that the camera roll album has been consolidated to new recently added folder. So where did the othe 1900 pictures that I had in camera roll go? Very upset! Just bout the 1TB iCloud and hopefully they were backed up previously!

Anything not in "recently" is likely available via Photos -> Collections.

  • All photos from the Camera roll gone after iOS 5 update! Any way to get them back?

Please tell me a way to get my pictures back asap!

Photos are meant to be uploaded to your computer for archival and storage.  Certainly before doing something as major as a software update, you've done this, correct?  In this case, your photos should be residing safely on your computer and you can just synch them back.

  • "Sharing" a Lr Mobile TIF file to the iPhone 6 camera roll converts the TIF to JPG.  Bad, bad, bad Lr Mobile!

I have another discussion concerning Lr Mobile and TIF files that exist in the iPhone 6/iOS 8 camera roll (aka "Recently Added"): Lr Mobile 1.2.1 does not recognize .tif files added to iPhone 6 + iOS8 Camera Roll
A new issue has surfaced.  When I add a TIF file in Lr Desktop to a collection that is synced with Lr Mobile, the TIF file appears as a TIF file in Lr Mobile.  So far, so good.  But if I then "share" that TIF image using the "Save Image" command in Lr Mobile, the image gets converted to a JPG file before it is added to the iPhone's camera roll.  This despite the fact that the iPhone 6 camera roll can save and display TIF files captured by the iPhone's camera.
Please fix this problem, as well as the problem concerning display of camera roll TIFs in Lr Mobile that is the subject of my other discussion!
    Cheers,
    Jeff

The file that comes into Lightroom mobile is labeled as a Tiff but is really a smart preview that Lightroom has generated from the Tiff and synced to the cloud.  The file your iPad is pulling in from LR Desktop is not a Tiff in the true sense. so it wouldn't make sense that it would save to camera roll as such.
That makes sense.  I'll try enabling offline editing for that TIF file to force a download of the full file and then try to save it to the camera roll.

  • Does iCloud back up photos, and can I view iPhone pictures on my iPad without syncing camera rolls?

I know this question may have been asked but please bear with me:
I have a iPhone 4S ( 16 GB ) and a iPad Air ( 32 GB ). Most of my photos are taken on my iPhone and I can view these photos on my iPad via the Photo Stream (which I know will only display photos for 30 days). I wanted to delete some photos off my iPhone to make room, but how can I still view these photos on the iPad without syncing my iPhones's camera roll to the iPad. Shouldn't iCloud be keeping these photos (and I heard that photos, music and maybe documents don't take up iCloud space, just other non-iTunes stuff count towards iCloud storage space but I don't know if that's right).
I just wants to know how iCloud works because what is the point of downloading other iOS devices' camera rolls onto my iPad and then risk my iPad runningout. Of space. Wouldn't I just run into the same problem? I thought iCloud would backup photos so if they were to be deleted off one iOS device, it can still be accessed on another iOS device (something like a Photo Stream but I ninnies it only lasts 30 days).

Hey! I am moving from icloud backup to itunes backup and i have not checked photos, contacts(see 1st image below) to sync to itunes. And on my phone in settings under icloud photos, contacts, notes and other stuff are selected(see 2nd image below). Does this mean i am backing up apps(and app data), music, settings to itunes but photos are still backed up to icloud. If not what should i do to back up my photos?
Could you please help me with this i am a little confused. Thanks!

  • I downloaded iOS 8 and i have lost all my photos. Earlier on I cleared my camera roll just to have enough space for this update. The photos were all in photo stream before I updated and now it's all gone. Please help

After downloading iOS 8, I lost all my pics. Last i checked, all of them were in photo stream. I cleared my camera roll to install the update but now all the pics are gone. My phone says there is about 700+ photos but only 300+ are displayed.

You might have to restore the pictures from your ""backup" you have on iCloud. But, then again, that would put your iPhone back to the last state it was in when doing that backup. But at least you would have all your pictures back.
iin any case, I wouldn't do any further backups or any changes to your iCloud account, until you've got your pictures back again. Proceed cautiously and carefully at this point, until you get an answer that will safely restore the pictures.

  • HT4623 Updating iPad2 to iOS 7, all my photos in camera rolls are gone, can't locate them anywhere?! Were they just deleted, or is there a way to find them? Did not have iCloud account, so not backed-up there.

Just updated our iPad2 to iOS 7, and all my photos in camera rolls are gone, can't locate them anywhere. Were they just deleted, or is there a way to find them? Did not have iCloud account, so not backed-up there.

We're you backing up to a computer using iTunes? If so, restore the backup from there.
