IOS 8 iPad Mini Retina (64GB WiFi) lagging

Hello everyone, I was stupid enough to jump on board the iOS 8 train straight away, and now I'm living the consequences. What used to be a wonderfully smooth iOS experience, is now a lagfest, where I wouldn't see lag earlier. The best example is in Safari, when adding or closing a tab in the new tab view, where the iPad noticeably drops frames. Other examples are longer loading times (when I open the settings app for instance) and lagging when scrolling through the selection of still wallpapers. I have done a clean install, and there was still lag, so that didn't help. I thought the A7 (which after all is 64 bit) was future proof enough to at least handle one major iOS upgrade. Given that the small window for downgrading has now probably closed, it seems like I'm stuck with iOS 8.
Is anyone else experiencing lag on their freshly updated iOS 8 device? Let's hope that iOS 8.1 has the same impact iOS 7.1 had (that fixed a lot of issues for me).
Thanks a lot everyone!

  • Ipad mini retina dislplay wifi and cellular.

i want to buy an ipad mini retina display wifi and cellular in malaysia. will it work with indian carriers?
    can someone please respond soon?
    thanks

As long as the indian carriers support the correct frequencies it should.  Note, that warranty and service will not be valid outside of the country of purchase, so you would need to return to Malaysia to get it serviced.
Other than that most iPads are unlocked for use with sim cards from any compatible GSM carrier.
Note, that if the carrier you wish to use it on is CDMA, they will likely not activate a device that was not registered to them originally during manufacturing.
I suggest contacting the carrier you wish to use, to make sure they can give you a sim card with service for the iPad.

  • Ipad mini retina dispaly wifi issues 8.0.2

    Hello,
Ipad Mini Retina Display version ios 8.0.2
    Model ME814C/A
    Scenario:
Before the upgrade to 8.0.2 WIFI the IPAD connected immediately when I arrived home and browsing the Internet was fast (did not do a speed test before the upgrade).
After the upgrade to 8.0.2 WIFI shows as being connected in the General Tab but I am unable to browse the internet. Messages come in to Facebook Messenger but I am unable to respond to them because it shows as connecting.
What I've done to Troubleshoot the issue:
I have to go to General, WIFI, Turn Off WIFI and turn it back on then it connects. I leave the ipad idle for say 1 min and again it disconnects from the WIFI.
I went to General clicked on reset  and clicked on Reset Network settings and the result is the same.
I went to General and clicked erase all contents and settings and I still get the same result.
I switched DNS to 8.8.8.8 and still the same result.
Apple support are you working to address these lingering wifi issues?
    Much appreciated
    Tacobell2000

I have two different ISPs.  My connection to U-verse is very slow, but my iPad mini connects rIght away and stays connected.  My TWC connection is much faster yet the iPad connection lasts for a very short time, unless I am sitting directly in front of the router with the iPad almost touching it.  It always shows that the iPad is connected though.  Otherwise I am constantly rebooting the iPad, removing and re entering the router info, turning wifi on and off, etc.  before the 8.0 update, my mini worked perfectly.

  • HT3476 which is the real tonnage - capacity of the ipad mini retina 64gb?

i bought the ipad mini rhetina 64gb and when i opened it i saw that the tonnage - capacity is 56,60GB
    why?
by the way i bought it totaly closed with gelatin and packed with all apple details from apple store. but i discover when i opened it that the battery was charged 85% and the itunes was already inside the ipad without me have downloaded it before.
pls inform if i have bought brand new ipad mini retina or it is second hand??

The difference between the advertised 64 GB and 56.60 GB is taken up by the operating system since that storage space is not available to the users. Also, some of the difference is doe to how GB is advertised and repotted
How Mac OS X and iOS report storage capacity

  • Audio intermittently glitches on my iPad Mini Retina

    Hi all,
I bought a iPad Mini Retina 64GB cellular recently to replace my old iPad 2 64GB cellular. I put my back-up on it through iTunes (Windows) and all seemed fine. From the start I have been having a weird issue. I can't quite seem to determine if it's due to the hardware or software.
The issue is that when I'm playing back music through the native music app, the sound intermittently freezes/hiccups/distorts. I'd say about ten to twenty times an hour. I never had this on the iPad 2 which was also running iOS 8.0.2. It seems to occur the most when browsing with safari. Once it even reacted to my every movement when swiping through a website, although this only lasted for a few seconds. It also does this when connecting it to my dock with Bluetooth, but without the slight distortion. I was very close to the dock, so I don't think that would be a Bluetooth connection issue.
I already tried a hard reset, but that didn't do anything.
    What do you guys think?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Can I buy a cellular iPad mini retina display in the US and use it in Canada with a Canadian provider

I want to buy an ipad mini retina with wifi+Cellular because it is cheaper in the us than in canada.  Will i be able to use it in canada with a canadian provider(bell, rogers or telus)?

So you really think they are that much cheaper? Look here:
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/iphone4s
And that's without tax. Think again, while you can purchase such a phone here, you can only purchase directly from Apple & you will have NO WARRANTY OR SUPPORT for this phone where you live. Oh, and those prices do not include US state/local sales tax or any duties you might have to pay. Still sound like a good deal?
When using that link, first select the color, then click on "Unlocked & Contract Free", to see prices.

  • IPad mini retina battery life for games vs. standby?

I bought a new iPad mini retina with wifi a few days ago and the battery seems to be draining very fast. While playing a word game, the battery drained about 20% in 60 minutes (from 80% to 61%) .  Is this normal for light gaming?
On my sister's original iPad mini, the same game doesn't seem to have the same affect.
Also, last night, after doing a full charge, I unplugged the unit and powered down at about 99% to 97%. This morning it was at 92%.  Is this normal also?

Mine lost Almost ALL of its power overnight! So I turned off Bluetooth, and location services and it is Loosing less power overnight but still loosing 10 -30% overnight.

  • Ipad mini retina ios 8 update - useless wifi connection

    Hi,
I updated my ipad mini retina display to latest version of ios 8 yesterday. What a disaster that turned out to be - since updating wifi connection to my BT homehub 5 router has been terrible. It will work for a few minutes then the connection just sticks - it not the router as iphone 5 and laptop work perfectly with it.
Tried a hard re-set, re-setting the network settings & finally reset to original setting - same thing happens.
Anyone help me with this? I so wish I'd never run this update and stuck with ios7 - presumably there is no way back??
    Thanks

    Hi,
Same issue here, unstable connection since I updated to iOS 8.0.2, I need to turn off/on the wifi when it happens. That is not a router issue as my other devices work perfectly (iPhone 5 with iOS 8.0.2 by the way)
I already restored my iPad min three times in vain !
Waiting for for a fix, that's all we can do but it's very frustrating and disappointing !

  • IPad mini retina, iOS 7 unable to join Personal Hotspot

I have iPhone 5, iPad mini retina running on iOS 7.1.2, Laptop Windows. When I turn on Personal Hotspot (PH), other PC, Tablet,.. suppose to join the PH normally via Wifi, Bluetooth, Cable. But I found that after my iPhone join a 5GHz band wifi, and then I turn on HP, other PC can't connect via Wifi, only can connect via Bluetooth or Cable.
I use a Linksys EA3500 dual band wifi router. It works perfectly for my need
So say in step that won't work:
    1. Connect iPhone to a 5GHz band wifi at home
    2. Later I hang out and need to share my 3G with my ipad mini wifi, so I turn on PH
    3. All devices failed to connect to PH via Wifi, but bluetooth or cable can connect successful
    Step that works:
    1. iPhone already connect to 5GHz band at home, before I leaving home, I connect it again to a 2.4GHz band
    2. Turn on PH where don't have wifi
    3. Other device successful connect to PH.
So the problems here is the 5 GHz band problem with iPhone. After connect to 5GHz band, other devices can't connect to iPhone, like it refused other devices to connect to, or something like problem with iOS 7.
p/s: I have already doing the "clean" state of iOS 7 to test on both iPhone and iPad. Do a restore on both device, test its and same problem.

    Thanks for your response,
You should check with the apple site before saying this, from iPhone 5 and above, it has already support for 5GHz bands. If my iPhone does not compatible with 5GHz bands how come it connect to 5GHz band back home

  • Itunes no longer connects to 5S, ipad Mini retina and ipad 2 after ios 8.02 update

Since the ios 8 and now 8.02 updates my Itunes does not connect at all to my iphone 5s, ipad mini (retina) and ipad 2.
iTunes' built in diagnostic sync test says no devices found.
I plug in the USB and nothing happens.
USB ports are working fine. All my other USB plug ins still work fine.
Same computer, same Windows 7 - 64 bit - all updated.
I did a clean iTunes delete per Apple instructions and then re installed iTunes again per Apple instructions and still nothing.
I got first a missing DLL error message and then not even a beep when plugging in the cord (yes all Apple accessories).
Anyone else run into this issue?
    Sheesh I hate updates!
    Thanks!

  • HT1386 My iOS device (Ipad mini) only appears in iTunes while cable-connected, but does not appear after diconnect the cable. How can I Wifi sync ?

Hi, My iOS device (Ipad mini) only appears in iTunes while cable-connected, but does not appear after diconnect the cable. How can I Wifi sync ?
    Documents say
Whenever the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it....
But I can't see my iPad Mini in iTunes.
And my  Ipad  (Settings, General, iTunes Wifi Sinc)  shows  a message :" Sync will resume when xxx(my PC with iTunes) is available "...
Both are in the same network,
Ipad mini is is plugged in to power
. iTunes is open on the computer
    what can i Do ???

Hi Skydiver119,  and tks for four interest.
I have done exactly as you say, but it does not work for me.
You indicated  " Navigate to the info tab and scroll down. There'll be a check box for 'sync over wifi' or something to that effect. Check that box and sync to affirm your choice."
I navigated to Summary tab (not Info Tab) and checked "Sync with this ipad over Wi-Fi"
    I disconnect the wire,
and my iPad disappears from my iTunes screen.
in my iPad ->Settings -> General -> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync -> says " Sync will resume when (my PC) is available.
So, I can not sync via wi-fi
I appreciate if you can help me.

  • My iPad Mini Retina   LTE got No Service after upgrade to IOS 8.1

After upgrading to IOS 8.1 my iPad Mini Retina lost GSM signal and No Service indication appears in top left screen.
Tried to reset, switch off without positive results.
With manual carrier search, my carrier is still in the options but no results.
    Please help

I upgraded ipad mini 2 with LTE from 7.1.2 straight to 8.1.2 hoping all the bugs are ironed out by now.... nope!
Got the free 200MB/mo Tmobile sim and 4G works.  LTE network connection seems fine.  I get an LTE next to Tmobile on the status bar.  But I get a message saying "Could not activate cellular data network.  You are not subscribed to a cellular data service." as soon as I try to use a browser.
With AT&T sim,  4G works just like Tmobile, but as soon as I switch on LTE, there is no network connection at all with "No Service" on the status bar and falls back to 4G after a while.  So seems like something broke LTE even on 8.1.2.
