IOS 8--Is it working ok now to update 5C?
I had heard of a lot of issues w different people reporting not being able to make or receive calls or something & other issues. So, I have held off updating my 5C as well as my iPad mini. But wondering if iOS 8 is generally working ok?
Also since I have both the iPhone & iPad, that sync w each other, would I need to upgrade both at same time, or any other considerations?
& will ios8 sync & all of the apps work w Mavericks on my Mac? Or anything I should be aware of before updating to iOS 8?
In addition, I've been having some issues that make me nervous when in Facebook. I get newsfeed from several different organizations that often may have a link to a news article. Besides having FB abruptly quit on me not too infrequently, I've also gotten messages saying something about leaving the application--asking to do so when I'm not aware of anything I have done to leave the application & go to another one. So that makes me a bit nervous. I always say no, although I may have in past when I wasn't paying good attention said yes.
I'm also running Mavericks on my Mac. I suppose I may update some day, but currently have Windows 7 in Parallels 8 I think it is (had to upgrade Parallels to be able to use w Mavericks. Now I've been getting messages that the version of Parallels I have won't work w Yosemite & to upgrade to a newer version. Since I'm not really using Windows, I guess I'll have to see about instead just installing it in Boot Camp in case I want to use it some time.
what device? what issues with photo app? im not having any problems with photos...but haven't updated ios yet

Connect your iPad to your computer and let iTunes back up your iPad. After it does that disconnect it and go into your settings under general and under reset and select erase all content. After you do that reconnect to your computer, open iTunes and follow the screen options to set up your iPad as new. Once it is done doing that see if you have the latest version of iOS installed and if it does then either download gain the apps you had before or restore them from the backup made previous.

The iOS 6 Contacts groups works backwards now!! "It wasn't broke, Don't fix it!!"
IOS 6 Update changed how selecting groups works to be backwards. I have a ton of groups by trade, type, etc. in previous IOS versions (same as Mountain Lion on my mac) I could select a group and it would only show the contacts in that group. NOW it removes the selected group from the "ALL Contacts" list (TOTALLY BACKWARDS!!) Therefore if I only want to see my "Plumbing Contacts" I have to unselect the other 50 groups!! Far from efficient. Anybody know of a setting you can change? Or did Apple Goof? I haven't been able to find anything on the phone to fix this problem.

Restored iPod to 4.2.1 Previously working apps now say "Update Required: This app requires IOS 4.3"
I recently restored my iPod Touch because e-mail, contacts, and calendar stopped working. Upon restore, I noticed many apps failed to reinstall. Apps like Yelp, Facebook, etc. Roughly 10-15 in total are missing entirely. I can select the app in iTunes and move the icon but the application will not install. If I install the app from the iPod its self, an error comes up saying "Update Required: This app requires IOS 4.3". IOS 4.3 is not available for my iPod.
I don't care if I don't have the latest version on the App store, but I do want the latest version available for my device.
How do I install the latest compatible version from the App store onto my iPod?
(I also have a new iPad. I think that had a part to play in replacing the compatible apps with incompatible ones.)Mr Spork wrote:

Safari and Mail not working, and now software update not running!
Hello, can anyone can help?
I was running 10.3.9, no problems, with safari, mail etc, through my standard third party router. Then today safari won't open up, just goes into spinning ball. Mail won't even open. I have re-installed the system from original discs back to 10.3.3, but still no luck. I can't even run software demag from a download of the apple site, whirling ball again.
Do I need to go for full system default re-instal, as I will loose all my mail folders and safari settings?
Pretty stuck at the moment......Sounds like a problem with your internet service provider. Perhaps contact them and see if they are experiencing problems. The other thought is the modem and next is the router.

Hi, I am just after downloading ios 5 to my iphone but now the apps on my phone won't work, even the free ones. Have tried deleting and reinstalling but it asks for credit card details even for the free apps. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks
If it is asking for account details then it might just need you to confirm your account before it lets you proceed. Maybe the terms and conditions changed since last time or something like that. Try signing into your Apple account in iTunes on a computer first to check that. Then restart the phone and try again.

I just updated my IOS to 7.1 and now I can't open Microsoft attachments - I used to always do it. Help - I use my iPad for work and now can't see any attachments. I've tried opening straight into other apps and just get error messages, and I the mail preview there is just a grey screen telling me the file name and size. It worked fine until I did the IOS upgrade

My iPhone 4S had the iOS 6 update and I have been trying to download all day but it won't work and now when I go to software update of says iOS 5.1.1 is up to date. And I cant restore my iPhone becuase when I go onto iTunes it says that it can't find my iPhone. I have tryed to download the most resent iTunes because I went to apple website and just hit download iTunes so I guess it's the most resent version and I don't know what to do. Should I go to an apple store?

Uptated to iOS 5 on my ipad2 and now all of my apps that weren't preinstalled on the iPad crash immediately after opening. I already tried restarting the ipad and that didn't work. I really don't want to have to do this with 100+ apps. Or sit through a complete restore...
Try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

On several of my apps my iPad 2 w/ IOS 4.3.3 said I needed to update the apps and the updates were for IOS4.3.3 but when the update was complete the apps would no longer work. They would just flash when I tapped the screen to bring them up but will stay displayed. What is the problem?

In my situation, the screen simply started exhibiting the same symptoms a few weeks ago (early February) for no apparent reason. At first I thought the screen was dead, but discovered the heat solution by accident. Now I turn it on and keep it from going to sleep until I go to bed. Thank goodness the battery is still awesome on this thing.
I bought it new and still has the original screen, I keep it at home (never below 62 degrees). Coincidentally, this happened a day or two after the expiration of the warranty!! Any help figuring this one out would be eternally appreciated.

No Japanese carrier provides unlocking services. Therefore, your phone must have been hacked to unlock it. That hack was removed when you updated the software. You need to be a legitimately unlocked phone.
