Ios 8 landscape keyboard texting numbers

When I am typing in landscape in a text message, and type a number, why does it not switch back to letters? Instead it stays on numbers making you tap it a 2nd time. Is there a way to change this?
Also the landscape keyboard in messages is terrible. The actual letters are smaller than typing portrait, hopefully a keyboard comes out where you can actually move keys.

Same issue here. Just did the download now I'll hit the alpha key on the screen and it does not register. Only happens in landscape mode. Only tried it on imessage and SMS, did not try email yet.

Landscape Keyboard

When is Apple going to upgrade the keyboard so you can use the landscape keyboard for text messaging, email, internet, etc.? I have nails so a larger keyboard makes typing much easier for me. This is the only aspect of the phone I have any issue with. I love my phone and think Apple should include this feature in the next update.

Wow, that SMS touch looks like a great app, and it's only two bucks right now! The developer says it was the price for Xmas and the day after, but he hasn't fixed it back to $5 yet. I just want to get it for my sister to save her on messaging fees. She has a 3G iPhone and so doesn't get the 200 messages for free. So instead she's told people not to text her and only sends mesages when they are urgent...haha. This program actually sends the "texts" as email and when people reply back, it's also received in your email box. Not 100% graceful, but it really might be a money saver.
Biggest isue is it will not work on international numbers, but AT&T already screws us in that regard, because my 200 free texts don't seem to include International texts, either.

In the latest update of pages on Ipad it says you can easily use iPhone landscape keyboard to type. How do you do this

If any one knows how to "easily" do this as advertised on pages app. Please help. Cheers

I don't know where you read that but on the app description page - this is what it states.

That doesn't make it sound like you can use the phone keyboard to edit documents on the iPad. Maybe I missed it somewhere. It just makes it sound like the keyboard now rotates to landscape on the phone and the touch.

I built a website for a customer using HTML only, so it would work on everything, but some of the text numbers are not clear on the ipad. It works perfectly on all the other browsers.

I built a website for a customer using HTML only, so it would work on any browser, and it works perfectly on everything except ipad safari. I'm loosing information with most of my text numbers - instead of being black they are displaying a 'ghost' image (white) of the numbers.
Is this a memory issue, or cache issue, or something else? I've downloaded iCab and the site works perfectly with it.
Also wondering if I can manually reload/refresh web pages in iPad Safari.
Since most people with iPads will use Safari rather than iCab, I have to tweak this site to work in Safari.

Detecting phone numbers and making them clickable is a feature of the browser, and rebuilding your web-site links will not make any difference. Its done when the page is shown in the browser, not when the page is created.
According to the Safari iOS developers guide, you can turn these data detectors off using this code:

Is there a way to make keyboard text shortcuts work better?

For example: omw = On my way!
On iOS these work accross the board, but on OS X they only seem to work on certain applications. Such as TextEdit, but have limited or no use in other applications. They work ok in the URL bar in Safari, but try to use them in a text field (such as the one I'm typing in now) and they don't work. It's especially irritating when I try to log into a website, and I can't use my custom shortcut for my email address. I can easily do this on iOS, but not OS X.
Is there any way I can get text shortcuts to behave better on OS X, or is this a hopeless dream...
If you don't know how to access them, it's:
System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text (OS X)
General -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts (iOS)
It's great that they sync accross both platforms, but it's pointless if I can't use them on properly on OS X.

MM is supposed to open the Marker Panel Dialogue
M just sets a marker
Not sure if either are intended for on the fly during playback .

Iphone 6 landscape keyboard punctuation???

Since Jony Ive had the foolish idea to jump into software design, is there a way to set things back to normal?
I just got a stupid iPhone 6 and now the landscape keyboard doesn't have punctuation. I'm forced to click the 123 button each time I want an apostrophe or a question mark. What is that crazy thing? Who could think about such a thing?
Is there any way to put a normal usable keyboard back to that phone???
For the price I paid I would like to be able to type mail and text messages.
Thanks for any tip that would save that device from the trashbin.

You're welcome. So try the first two ideas. I have one keyboard that lets me move the cursor by sliding my finger left or right on the spacebar. I have another keyboard that lets me copy to a clipboard for future reference.
Or try the keyboard shortcuts. To help one Forum member I found you can even make shortcuts to symbols that don't exist on my iPad, take this micon μ for example.
I don't even have a iPhone and was able to give you three good suggestions, now it's up to you to make it happen.

Landscape Keyboard in YM

When using Yahoo Messenger, I turn my iPhone 3Gs to landscape to thumb type on the larger keyboard. After the iOS 4 upgrade, the landscape keyboard is smaller without the spacebar. Does anyone else have this problem? I wondered if it was the OS upgrade, or Yahoo needs a patch.

Sorry, I don't believe the remote app has a rotatable screen.

Apple please have a feature in the settings menu where we can disable the landscape keyboard in messaging!
Or even have have an option where we can disable the landscape mode in general. Theres lots of times where Im texting and slightly turn my phone and it goes into landscape mode. Or when im laying down and it stays in landscape mode.

Open the file as a RandomAccessFile. Check its length. Declare a byte array as big as its length and do a single read to get the file into RAM.
Is this a simple text file (bytes)? No problem. If it's really 16-bit chars, use java.nio to first wrap the byte array as a ByteBuffer and then view the ByteBuffer as a CharBuffer.
Then you're ready for search/replace. Do it as you would in any other language. Be sure to use System.arraycopy() to shove your bytes right (replace bigger than search) or left (replace smaller than search).
When done, a single write() to the RandomAccessFile will put it all back. As you search/replace, keep track of size. If the final file is smaller than the original, use a setLength() to the new size to avoid extraneous data at the end.

Does Yosemite/Numbers 3.5 play well with iOS 7.1.2 and Numbers 2.2.2?

I am reluctant to update my iPod touch to iOS 8 because I fear the hardware won't handle it well. Everything works fairly right nicely now.
I am wondering if anyone has upgraded OSX to Yosemite and Numbers to 3.5 but stayed with iOS 7.1.2 and Numbers 2.2.2

I've read that the document format for Numbers has been tweaked to work better with Gmail, Dropbox, etc.
Presumably (I don't have a way to test this) that tweak is not retroactive to iOS7.
Or maybe it is. Perhaps in Numbers 3.5 the File > Advanced > Change File Type (where you are then given a choice between Single File and Package) can save in an iOS7 compatible format.
In any case, I'm guessing that enjoying the full benefits of the new Numbers requires at least one iOS device that can run iOS 8.

Where are System preferences- Keyboard- Text settings saved?

I am trying to find the Settings of my System preferences->Keyboard->Text on my drive. I deleted my whole user library, and after reloading i still find my settings in the pane( so my conclusion is they are not in the ~/Library location. Does anyone have any idea where these settings are saved on the hard drive?

yes, restart is done after removing the user library. Still, the shortcuts are in the system preferences pane.
To explain why I'm after these files: I'm not trying to clear the settings, i'm actually trying to find the file, so i might safe/load them on different users.
My biggest bet did not work: ~/Library.
Is there any other location where I will find saves user settings?

the text numbers 08 will not show up in mountain lion. i did a software update after i installed and it did not solve the problem.
Is anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

Restart the computer.
Repair Permissions in Disk Utility.
Check fonts and clear out bad ones in Font Book.
Try in another User Account.
Any luck?
