IOS 8 on 4s nightmare

So exited a quiet weekend to upload new exiting software on all my apple devices.  Destroyed by constant crashes and apps don't open.  The lag is so bad this message took about 3 minutes to type     Is there anything I should try?

My iPhone 4s and iPad 3 both charge overnight from a USB-enabled wall socket (U-Socket ACE-7169), and have for the past two years. YES, I use Apple-branded USB cables.
Last night, after upgrading to iOS8, both stopped charging. When i unplug the cable and plug it back in, there is a tone and a very brief "lightning bolt" charging indicator, and then it shuts down.
Only change to this system is iOS8. I suspect it broke this very useful accessory.

  • Ios 7.4  nightmares. When idle and charging my screens move on their own, types jibberish on its own and sends the jibberish as a text message to random callers, changes sounds on its own.  And that's not all!!!

The ios7.04 download for my iphone 4s has tuned the phone into a nightmare. Battery charging time is 3x what it used to be, battery drains after 4 hours whether I talking or phone is idle. I can no longer hear the phone when it rings. Here is the dealbreaker:When idle, untouched and charging the screens move on their own, type jibberish on their own and send the jibberish via text to a random selection of my contacts. The phone is charging now and I am watching the screen move to the alarm stopwatch screen. It  From there is has moved to the Sounds screen and has changed my ring tone twice. (It plays the tones as well.). My hands are not on the phone at the time and the homescreen is visible when charging begins. I have turned off so many components of the phone that there is simply no longer any reason to walk around with what has become a functionless burden. The most obvious solution is to say goodbye to Apple and go back to the brand I was using before. Thought I's give this forum one last shot. For the life of me I can not understand why so many of us have so many complaints about our devices yet no one takes the path of least resistance...which is to simply switch to a brand that is reliable. I never had any problems with a cell phone until I switched to Apple.

Thank you. I called my carrier and told them that the i704 os made my phone unusable and that the support in the forums is populated by children like yourself who make nasty comments and provide no support, I was released from my contract. Free at last from rotten Apple and shmucks like you.

  • IOs 7 iPhone nightmares.. comments to apple developers

The elegancy of the apple home screen is gone. We are now forced to use a cartoon..ish, phoney and child like screen that misses the point on the exclusiveness of an expensive equipment.  The icon colors are blinding and too transparent making them disappear. Home screen controi panel is too wide cutting off main screen.
The improved transparent screen is too bright alsmost hugh glare and although there is a control to dim brightness it simply does not work.
The iOs 7 update offers many features. However how were the features determined. This update seems extreme and offers no options to keep old wallpapers, home screens and simplicity. Worse there are no written or video tutorial instructions.  Settings alone have undefined categories that leaves users hanging why does this need changing or if function a is performed what will be the outcome. No logic, no instruction
Safari on the iphone does not provide user simple tabs. Tilt screens hitting several buttons on a small surface with adult fingers don't match. The ease of gliding back and forth is a balancing act.
Siri does not understand half of the commands I gave it 3 days ago. Instead when asked to search for item on web it gives tweets, facebook and other unwanted choices.
Calander is ithe worse layout. The monthly view reads like a post modernistic expression of an old fashion European style calander. No choice of color- red is too harsh on nuero-visual
Perhaps the only design / function improvement is the choice of font style and size. However, the change of font is limited to communication functions and does not improve web reading.
Accesibility functions have improvements. Even if users are not seeking modified handicap acessibile functions should try these settings.  Just like prior iOs the accessibility settings enable auto speak to help with spell check, speak selection to read anything outloud. Other accessibiilty functions reduce the stress of needing to find eye glasses, offers closed captioning and for those who find tapping speeds to slow or fast they can be regulated to personal gestures.

Safari on the iphone does not provide user simple tabs. Tilt screens hitting several buttons on a small surface with adult fingers don't match. The ease of gliding back and forth is a balancing act.
You can swipe left to close open tabs instead of using the tiny "x"
Perhaps the only design / function improvement is the choice of font style and size. However, the change of font is limited to communication functions and does not improve web reading.
For web reading you can use "Reader" in Safari. To the left of the address bar  will be an icon that looks like lines on a page. Tap that to open the page in reader mode.

  • What is up with iOS 7 ? Nightmare operating system or what ?

iOS 7 ? My phone keeps locking up when I try to use certain apps,My iPad is running slow and tells me I have emails when I don't and keeps shutting apps down with no warning ? Am I on my own with these problems or are other people having problems to ?

Can someone please give us an update? I currently use a Jetpack to access the internet. It's the only way my computer can access the internet when I travel.
I spoke with 2 separate customer service representatives. Both of whom said my account is just in the inactive state, and could not be activated till the system was fixed.
I understand maintenances need to occur, but there should be a way to revert in the case of failed updates.
Please, just let us know where things are at in the migration process

  • Bitmap Sheets - tiled or single row - which is better?

For alot of my animated sprites, I wrote a little program to read in all the bitmap data, crop the images and output a single sprite sheet of all the bitmaps, plus the "array" data needed to find and copy out the specified frame.
This has proven to save both memory and preformance when dealing with large numbers of frames
However, when I look at several example of how other people do sprites sheets, their final sheet is always tiled
So if I have an animated sequence of 60 frames, (assuming that each source bitmap is, 50x100 and there is no cropping to be done) I would end up with something like this:
    Bitmap: Size = 3000x100;
    TopLeftCornerArray = [[0,0],[50,0],[100,0]...[2950,100]];
Is there any difference between doing that, instead of creating a sheet bitmap, that was say 10 frames per row over 6 rows giving me a bitmap that was 500,600?
I mean, both bitmaps are made up of 300,000 pixels regardless...
I was just wondering if there was a good reason for not putting them all on a single line.

I am "gridding" it, for the most part, as 50% of all my images are blockish anyway, so there is no real "cramming" needed.
The rest are characters, and unfortunately, due to the way they were rendered and created by the artists, (which was originally build for director) and they had wonky registration points, writing my own allowed me to programmatically calucate where those registration points would have been in director and output that data as part of my frame arrays (which I call "center point offset") while still cropping the images to their smallest size.
I am not "cramming" it like in the texture packer is doing, but given the irregular shapes of most of the character frames anyway, there would be some sort of wasted alpha anyway... so while it's true, using a program like that (and I am actually looking into it), would probably result is slightly smaller images in the end, being able to do the programmatic custom stuff outwieghed the advantage of saving a few hundered pixels per sheet.
But just to make things easier to code, I did it in a long single row instead of tiling.
For example, one of my sheets consists of a "spinning coin". every frame is always 56 pixels in height. only the width of the frame changes based on the width of the coin itself. the vast majority of my sources do this. so with 30 frames, so when I built the sheet, I crop the images and I end up with a final bitmap about 1100 pixels in width, and 56 in hieght, and it's packed just as good as any other prog.
From a programmatic point of view, there is no difference between a single or or multiple rows, but given how memory problems for ios are a nightmare, and performance is a pain, I wasn't sure if there was some "unknown and undocumented reason" why tiled vs single row would be better.

  • Update to IOS 6 has been a nightmare. Facebook would allow me to save pictures unless I granted access to my foto album. Does this mean my pictures are going be planted all over the web? The safari keeps crashing and loading is slow.

update to IOS 6 has been a nightmare. Facebook would allow me to save pictures unless I granted access to my foto album. Does this mean my pictures are going be planted all over the web? The safari keeps crashing and loading is slow. Most infuriating is that YouTube was deleted from my entertainment apps and I now have to pay for it if I want it back!! This is a bloody disgrace.

    Back up all data.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.

  • HT1688 I updated my iPhone 5C to the iOS 7.0.1 "bug fixes" update and it has made my phone glitch constantly and has just made it a complete nightmare. How can I go back down to iOS 7?

basically yeah, I updated my software because it said that iOS 7.0.1 was out as a bug fixes update and now my phone constantly glitches the **** out, its super slow, and it pretty much created more bugs than it did fix them. So how can I go back to iOS 7? because 7.0.1 is an absolute nightmare.

    Try updating to iOS 7.0.2.
Does your iPhone still have performance issues? Have you tried the basics?

  • IOS 8 nightmare do not download it.

after downloading iOS 8 my ipad2 is a nightmare to use?? Slow to respond, constantly crashing, shutting down Apps while I am using them, tried to print boarding passes today was impossibl??? I'v lost loads of info from my docs and bookmarks to name just a few issues really wish I hadnt downloaded it now.
Apple what have you done? How come this was not tested on all models of iPad and iPhone prior to releas ?
Is this just a way of making us all buy new iPad or iPhone?
IM very happy with my iPad and until apple bring out a new one that really does do more I won't be changing. Unless it's to buy the new Microsoft tablet which is looking better to me every day.

Try these suggestions, in this order.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data.
Now close all apps. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If those three things made no difference, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.
If all of that fails, restore the iOS software. Backup your iPad before you restore, then restore the backup when you are done. If that still doesn't help, restore your iPad as new and start all over again. Most purchased content can be downloaded again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID and as long as the content is still available in the store.

  • Ever since I updated to iOS 7, organization of my music is a nightmare.  It is organized perfect on my iTunes, but will not sync properly to my phone.  I signed up for iTunes Match hoping it would help and it only sent me further down the spiral.

Any changes I have made to my iTunes after the iOS 7 upgrade do not sync and it has even reorganized music I had before very poorly.  iTunes Match made it worse.  Now, I cannot even get into my music on the phone, it just tells me it can be synced from the Cloud.  However, the Cloud apparently does not like my organization either.  I just want the music on my phone to match how I have it organized on iTunes.  This is driving me crazy.  I am totally Team Apple, but this music thing is quickly turning my loyalty.  My music is the main thing I use my phone for.

Since 'upgrading' Safari has become slow, partial pages load (the top, then later the bottom, scrolling down loses the top again to white space), it flips back to previous pages all on its own and links have to be tapped multiple timeses to get them to work.
Apple, please do something quickly, it is very, very irritating.

It's not missing, it's iOS 4, which did not have OTA updates.
