Ios 8 on my ipod wont work it says connect to itunes wont let me use my ipod
i download the ios8 but when it got done downloading it restarted and it shows connect to itunes and i dont know what to do. plus idont know how to connect to itunes
You should be able to turn it off via one of the accessibility functions :
- Settings > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch (should be towards the bottom of that screen) > AssistiveTouch 'on'
- that should give you a dark square with a white circle in the middle of it (it will fade to grey if it's not used ; and you can drag it around the screen)
- tap that circle and it should enlarge and give you 4 options
- tap 'Device' on that to open a further series of options
- press and hold the 'lock screen' icon (the padlock), and after a few seconds you should get the 'slide to power off' option show
Plugging the phone into power, either via its main charger or a computer's USB, should get it to power back on - it does with mine. Turn off AssistiveTouch

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

How can i restore my iphone which was erased by iCloud?? I got my phone back but it wont work when i connect to iTunes.
The following assumes you've been backing up to icloud all along.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. This will erase your device. Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your device was new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.
Let us know if this method does not work. -

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Place the Device into Recovery mode... All data / Content will be Erased.

Note on Recovery Mode.
You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
Once you have Recovered your Device...
Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...
Restore from Backup

My iphone 4 has died and says connect to itunes. itunes restore wont work, error message 2001, then 2006 appears.Tried all the troubleshooting help, but nothing works. Any ideas???
I solved my own problem. Hopefully this will help someone else.
I did a DFU restore, then started it up as a new phone on iTunes. Everything loaded properly, then from iTunes did a restore from backup, selected the one I wanted and it still took me to the same screen with 3 options of restore. I chose the start up as new phone from the actual phone and after all the syncing was completed, my phone is back in working order. -

My seven year old daughter got an ipod touch a few months ago from her father. She has now forgotten her password and it has been tried too many times and so the ipod has been disabled. It now say connect to itunes. I have tried to do this with the USB cable and itunes on my computer. Unfortunately it will not work as it will not connect saying the device is locked and to enter the password.
This is not the computer that she previously connected to and she may not be able to get access to that computer. Is there a way for us to reset the password preferably without having to restore the ipod and lose everything she has on it?Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

i just updated to the new ios version, and now i cant set my phone up as an existing one. i have put it in recovery mode and tried to restore it but it wont work. Itunes will let me set it up as an existing phone and back up all my data but once i unlock my phone it goes through the setting up options and then asks me to either set up as a new or existing phone and when i choose existing it just says connect to itunes and does nothing. can anyody help?
Seems like you are restoring from a blank back up if it is still asking you those 3 options of set up as new, restore from itunes or icloud back up. Set the iPhone up as new then manually restore from a back up. Follow the steps foriTunes 10.7 or earlier in the article below as it is the same process for iTunes 11:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
When you do this you will be able to check for backs showing date and time. Be sure to choose a back up made before you restored to factory settings.
