Ios 8 photo library

OK, i've been reading many answers and questions related to the subject around here, still didn't answer my question... I know that there is no Camera Roll anymore, that it's been replaced by Recently Added album. Here's my problem. I can see all my photos in "Collections" but only the ones from the last 30 days in Recently Added. As the days go by, will the old photos pe replaced by new one? Is there any way to have all my photos at one place, except Collections? Like one album, like the old Camera Roll? I know I can make an album with all the pictures but I would have to move them as soon as I take them. It seem to me that, basically, there is no photo album anymore...

I noticed this last night as well, and discovered that you can use the Favorites option to mark the "keepers" by clicking on the heart at the bottom of the pic. Now, it looks like the heart icon is only available for pics originating on the device.
To get around this, I selected Edit and created a duplicate of the pic on the device, which then exposed the heart icon for me to favorite the pic. It appears to keep all the original metadata since the older pics that I created a duplicate of sort chronologically in the favorites album.
The thing I am trying to investigate now is whether or not the favorites album will sync across devices via iCloud. I have pics I took this morning on my iPhone 5s that now show in Recents on my iPad Mini, but everything I've marked as a Favorite on my iPhone does not show in a corresponding album on my Mini. Quite frankly, I don't even know if it SHOULD sync, but it seems like this would be ideal.
It's also nice that you can select photos to add to albums right on the phone, but kind of a bummer that it restricts me from being able to add to albums that originate from synched folder on my Mac. Again, seems like another convenience that should be enabled.

  • IOS Photo library wrong size

Hi, I'm trying to restore some space on my 16GB iPhone 5s and I've already imported all the photos in my computer and deleted almost all the photos from iOS Camera Roll. Now I have only 80 photos in camera roll, total 72mb (just 10 photos are 2mb size, taken with the phone, others are downloaded from internet). The problem is that iOS says that photo library is still using 749mb!!! How come? I have only those photos. The Recently deleted folder is empty!
How can I restore that space without resetting the phone?

    Hello svkrzn,
I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue with your iPhone. If you have unaccounted for data associated with your photos, you may want to try the following portion of this article (the article is addressing a slightly different issue, but the instructions may still be useful in this case):
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support

  • IOS Photo library stopped uploading pictures on both my iPhone and iPad

On the same day (February 25, 2015), both my iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 (latest OS update) stopped uploading new photos to iCloud. I've been searching everywhere for a solution. I am afraid to turn the function off and then back on in the settings as I am not entirely sure what will happen to my photos, Apple's explanations notwithstanding.
    Any help?

Thanks for your reply.  I use Sky email which is managed by google. I have now deleted the account and set it up again and that seems to be working now. I'm still having problems just getting the Internet connection to work. I won't be taking on any more software upgrades in future until I'm sure that they are worth it.

  • Pictures in Photo Library or Online are crashed after installing iOS 8

    Hi
Im using iPhone 5 and a few days ago I update it to be iOS 8, what happened is that images were crashed when I zoom pictures in photo library or even searching picture online. But in the evening it was okay again until now. I don't know what happening with my phone.
Thanks for reading my issues and I'm very glad to get a response of the idea of this problem.

    Thanks for your reply King_Penguin
Re your first point - 'Sync collections' was ticked in both the iPad and Mac versions of iBooks prior to these problems occurring.
Why have recently purchased or installed books been moved to iCloud and moved off my iPad and iMac when previously they were there in my iBooks library collections? They were books I'd read or were in the process of reading.
More confusing is that on my Mac in iBooks there are books that are fully downloaded and not in iCloud yet the same books in iBooks on the iPad are not downloaded and are in iCloud. After I sync this hasn't changed. To my mind this means that sync isn't working properly or that maybe iCloud has somehow been activated on one device and not on the other?
Why should I have to re-download books that were already present in my iBooks library on Mac and iPad prior to my upgrades to Yosemite, iOS 8 and the iBooks  apps?
I have to reiterate that I do not and will not use iCloud and for 2 reasons: it is not secure and Apple uses push marketing to make it difficult for you to not use it.

  • Photo library won't open after iOS 5 update

I updated both my iPod Touch and iPhone 4 to the new iOS 5.0 right after it was released. I initially noticed that my library of photos would not fully sync to both products but I remedied that by manually clicking each photo album I have available via iTunes. Now I'm noticing that when I try to open my Photo Library in either the iPod or iPhone, it takes noticable time to do so. I have a little over 16,000 pictures on each one.
In addition, once i applied the updates, I found that certain album art from my iTunes music would not display on either the iPod or iPhone. However, the album art is showing inside iTunes. Incidentally, this seems to only affect albums that have duplicate songs from the same album.
    Any thoughts or ideas ?

Have you tried closing the Phot Booth app completelyand seeing if it works when you re-open it  ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Photo Booth 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Photo Booth app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

You need to copy the iTunes liubrary from your Old computer, or its Backup, to your New computer...
    See Here for one way
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    Or...
From your Old Computer... Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
Backup iTunes to an External Drive

An Added Bonus is that you will then have a Backup of iTunes...

  • IOS 4 Broke Picture Clarity in Photo Library

Since I installed IOS 4 this morning all my photos in the photo library are only clear as thumbnails but when I click on a picture to view it they are grainy and out of focus, it no longer adjusts itself to bring the picture into focus normally or zoomed in. The same pictures work perfectly fine and look great/normal inside my Photo Vault app, it is just a problem with the Photo Library zooming/focusing photos within there.

Same problem here. I installed the update at work even though I sync with my home PC, so I can't test resyncing photos at the moment. Have you tried disabling photo sync to remove them all and then syncing them all back? Did that work? If not I'm going to be pretty ticked until an update comes out because my I show my photos to a lot of other people, not to mention my wallpaper now looks like crap.

  • The video library is empty in iMovie on iOS after update to iCloud photo library

I updated to iCloud photo library and all of my photos and videos are now in the cloud instead of my iDevice. When I open iMovie in iDevice, the photo/video library is empty. How can I use my videos in projects?

iCloud photo library will be introduced as beta in an iOS 8 update scheduled for October.  Read under "Pricing & Availability" here: http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2014/09/09Apple-Announces-iOS-8-Available-Septem ber-17.html.

  • Is it possible to pause uploading to iCloud photo library in iOS?

When uploading photos to iCloud photo library from OS X, there is an option to pause the upload.
This is useful to give your internet connection some respite (e.g. during periods where traffic management policies apply).
I can't find such an option in iOS. Am I missing something?

You can try using a JavaScript disabling extension. This may disable more than you want it to though.

  • Large iCloud Photo Library on iOS

I started to use iCloud Photo Library without any problem on my iMac. Now my library is approx 100GB in size and i was able to sync everything into iCloud. And it synced perfect to my MacBook Air where it now has only 26GB in size. Perfect!
Now my question: Can i try to enable iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone 5 with only 16GB and approx 4GB free space? Or will this overflood the iPhone? What size can i expect will this 100GB library on my iPhone? Is there any way to calculate this in advance? Can i define minimum free space on my iOS devices for other programs?

My 40GB library of 16.000 photos has took about 2GB on my 64GB-iPhone 6 without any photos preloaded. So I guess it's about 1GB of space for each 20GB but I suppose it also depends on count of photos maybe more than library size in GBs,

  • ICloud Photo Library question IOS 8.0.2

    Hi,
I have updated IOS to 8.0.2. Now I have an option to turn iCloud Photo Library ON. Correct me if I am wrong, this allows me that every photo or video is automatically uploaded on iCloud... Right? What I want to know is, if this uploading is done only when connected on WiFi, or also when on cellular connection?
    Thanks for help!
BTW: Does anyone know where are these photos or videos stored on iCloud? How to get to them on iCloud? These new Photos features with iCloud and syncing are so messy...

Thank you AxeMan1020! This information helps me, as well.
I am writing to see if perhaps photo streams and shared photos might solve which photo solution (My Photo Stream Vs iPhoto Library) to use when where and why, assisting nikoo_80 - and myself...

Just a few warnings, iCloud Photo Library is still in beta so I suggest before turning it on you backup your photos.
Also, once it is enabled, you will no longer be able to sync photos via iTunes and any photos currently on the device that were synced via iTunes will be removed.
By using Photo Streams and shared / auto upload (My Photo Stream) that was also in iOS7, I notice that all of the photos I took, when enabling automatic upload to all my devices, every photo I took was uploaded to iCloud and distributed to iPads and Mac computers, restricted to WiFi only.
When I delete a specific photo, that photo would remain on another device. Removing the share / auto-upload (disabling My Photo Stream) on the phone was able to remove the photos shared from the iPhone onto other devices via iCloud.
Interesting note from AxeMac1020 as using the Beta iPhoto Library disables the ability to retrieve using iTunes or iPhoto after being enabled AND it goes back 30 days only, I like that however how do we preserve photos? Back-up using iPhoto, then enable Library Beta? If this will delete photos once enabled, do we use "Image Capture" or "iPhoto" for import and protection against them being deleted? Seems like a benchmark as majority of photos will be deleted (although I removed all photos completely prior to activating iPhone 6.
I had an issue with the synchronization of photos into iTunes (iOS7) whereas the photos would synch though the storage amount would double as I was selecting events and albums (iTunes sync) while maintaining the same on the iPhone (5), iOS7 related somehow, most likely user error on my part. The point is, with 64GB on that phone, it used 80% of the storage by copying the photos thrice, somehow.
logging into iPhoto, iTunes, I was able to sort, move and remove photos though this is previous to the iCloud Drive & iCloud Photo Library. Does iCloud Photo Library require iCloud Drive and if these are sync'd like iOS7, are these managed on each device, distributed similarly as My Photo Stream? can they be managed on iCloud.com? managed via camera roll / albums/ etcetera ? Are these iCloud Drive managed? Centralized and managed on device that took the photo?
Interesting twist as I hadn't noticed this feature until now! Thank you both !
I am not able to turn iCloud Drive ON yet as my OS X Mavericks require Yosemite OR!!!! Perhaps we have an update!!! I'll check now.
Great resources in this thread! Thanks !

  • Missing movie files in my project since iOS 8 and iCloud Photo Library

    Hello all,
I've been to New York at the start of 2014 and created an awesome movie project in iMovie for iOS. That was when iOS 7.1.2 was the most current release. Today, I wanted to finish up my project. I'm currently running iMovie 2.1.1 on iPad air 1 running iOS 8.1.2 and iCloud Photo Library is enabled since day one. I Opened the project today and iMovie told me there are missing movies in the project and offered me to search for them. It only found 2 out of 140 or something. Now my project timeline is filled with clip with exclamation marks and many transitions with pictures in them are missing too. I tried to download clips that are in iCloud by tapping the Cloud icon but iMovie still cannot find them. Ive also tried importing from iCloud drive, disabling iCloud photo library and syncing the movies from iPhoto using iTunes on my iMac but iMovie cannot link them to the project. I'd hate to see hours of editing work to go down the drain.
    Hope someone can help.
    RF

Ok, so sinc you turned iCloud photo library, that automatically delets all of your current photos. I found that out the hard way. I'm sorry to hear that your editing has gone to waste.   It is still odd that some media was saved though.

  • Missing movies in project since iOS 8 and iCloud Photo Library

    Hi,
I've been to Europe this summer and created a movie in iMovie for iOS. That was when iOS 7.1.2 was the most current release. Today, I wanted to finish up my project. I'm currently running on iPad air, iOS 8.0.2, latest release of iMovie and iCloud Photo Library is enabled since day one. Now my movie timeline is filled with clip with exclamation mark and many transitions with pictures in them are missing too. I tryed to download clip that where in iCloud by tapping the Cloud icon but iMovie still cannot find them. How am I supposed to fix this now? My clips are there but iMovie cannot link to them... Apple, are you reading this forum?

I recreated this same question here so it wouldn't show like its solved: Missing movie files in my project since iOS 8 and iCloud Photo Library
    Hope we get an answer.

  • I have an iPhone 3gs, operating on iOS 6.  For some reason, I'm unable to custom delete individual photos from my photo library....

I have an iPhone 3gs, operating on iOS 6.  For some reason, I'm unable to custom delete individual photos from my photo library.  When I select the Edit button to do so, I'm only given the 2 options of "Share" and "Add To". My Camera Roll does everything the way I wish my Photo Library would.  Can anyone help?

Only photos in the Camera Roll can be deleted.  The rest of the photos got there by synching to your computer.  You get them off the same way.

  • HT204264 iDevice Sync Query - IOS Photos & iCloud Photo Library over filling ipad iphone storage - what happens next?

Device Sync Query - IOS Photos & iCloud Photo Library fills ipad iphone storage - what happens next?
Quick question, when you select IOS Photo / IiCloud storage (photos are optimised etc) what happens when ipad / iphone storage is full and you now need to add new apps, photos etc?  In my case I have  3 * 64gb ipads & 2 * 128 gb iphone but these are all filling up with photos since enabling IOS Photo &  iCloud Photo Library (as all of my photos on each device are now copbined on every device as well as the cloud).  This has become a problem as when I try to sync my idevice I get the device full warning (and I am assuming I now need to delete apps / videos if I want to sync or make more space for new photos etc). As far as I can tell once you enable IOS Photos and iCloud all photos will upload at original resolution and download at idevice resolution and there is no way to select / control the photos you want to keep on phone  (eg if you delete photo on phone it will now delete the original on cloud).
    Couple of questions / Suggestions:
    - Will IOS Photos on IOS device  automatically lower resolution of pics or use thumbnails for old photos that are already in icloud to ensure that there is space on device for new photos,  apps videos music etc. Eg will old photos that have already been uploaded in icloud be replaced by new apps videos music etc (not sure that the IOS Sync or iCloud currently does this)
    - Is there away to limit control or limit the number of IOS photos that sync to each idevice (eg by starring photos)? I had a look and can not see away to select photos you want to keep or remove (without deleting them on cloud).  As per above I am hoping that the IOS sync and icloud systems are smart enough to replace Photos that have already upgraded to cloud with a lower quality / thumbnail to make more more room for new photos and apps (but not clear if this occurs)
    - If this is a problem now what happens once the new PHOTOS launches for OS Desktop eg will it add in all our photos from iphoto to the icloud then to the idevice as part of the OS PHOTOS UPGRADE. I have 15-30 gb of photos in IPHOTO that are now backing up to icloud, there needs to be away to only select starred photos or albums or every photo try to download to my iphone (which will kill my storage). There also needs to be away to keep photos on idevice (for those times when you do not have internet and can not download from iCloud to iDevice
Apologies if I have missed something obvious and welcome any thoughts & answers.
If there is no solution then Apple needs to look at this and highlight it as a risk to customers who switch as this is being sold as a way to minimise your device storage but can lead to to customers using up more  storage for photos on ipad iphone as a result of switch to IOS PHOTOS &
    iCloud Photo Library

Things are not as dire as they might seem at first glance. My 66GB iPhoto Library became a 40GB iCloud Photo Library (~11K photos, ~300 videos) and only uses 2.2GB on my iPad and 2.4GB on my iPhone. Scaling that experience, a 64GB/128GB iOS device should be able to easily handle a 300GB iPhoto library. My iPad and iPhone are 32GB devices and I expect them to be livable through at least 30-40K of photos.
16GB devices have always been problematic for space even before iCloud Photo Library so I'd expect anybody with a 16GB device and more than a few thousand photos is not going to be able to use iCloud Photo Library with it. They will have to use iCloud Photo Streaming to get photos to iCloud Photo Library and iCloud Photo Sharing or iTunes syncing to get a subset of photos back to the device. Not a great solution but workable. However, it wrecks one of the best features for me which is using my iPad to edit the photos I take on my iPhone.
The part that worries me is the automatic space management routine. The problem it creates is that I might want to add a movie, but there won't be enough space, and my only option will be to reset iCloud Photo Library on the device to get back to all thumbnails on it to see if that gets me the space I need. I've already had to do it a couple of times with iTunes Match and it's not fun. It all depends on how aggressive Photo Library will be in trimming off full-size photos/videos and Apple appears to be leaving it a black box at this point. It would at least be nice to know an estimate of the minimum size so I know how much space I can recapture.
