Ios 8 playlist gone

Now that I have updated to the newest iOS 8 and I try to sync my playlists from iTunes, I can see the playlists in the tree on the left, but they are no where on my iPhone.  I have removed all of the music and turned off the sync music option.  I then made sure the iTunes Match was turned off too.
I then rebooted the iPhone and the computer and restarted to try to sync all of my music.  It took forever and the music synced and copied.
I see the music if I look at the Artist, Album and Genre, but the playlists are MIA.
Can we please look into this and get a resolution fast since I use my playlists a lot and I am very frustrated.

So I was able to figure this one out on my own.
I did a restore of my iPhone from a backup earlier today.
In iTunes, when the iPhone is connected, I checked the "Manually manage music and videos"
I then clicked Sync.
I let it sync and waited.
It took two attempts, but I was able to get my playlists back.
The only thing different now is under the music area it does not have the check box for Sync Music
As long as I have my playlists now I am happy, but I hope this gets fixed and I am able to sync my music and videos like before.
Thanks for any help

  • After iTunes update all playlists gone

I updated my iTunes, now all my playlists are gone and it changed it´s destination folder (It used to be my external hd now its on C).
My music files are still on my external hd. I tried system restore but that didn't reset anything. How do I get my playlists back?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • IOS7: where have my default playlists gone?

I am on iOS7 now.  I use iTunes Match with over 12,000 songs on it, and on iOS6 I had all sorts of playlists iOS had found and made based on my music.  Incluidng Country, 50s and 60s.
Now since the update, they have all gone.
How do I get them back, or make it search for them all??

Hi. I have had a similar problem. I have recently copied some of my DVDs into iTunes and transferred them on to my ipad3. This took me weeks to find out how to do it and hours to achieve., but it did work until I updated iOS . I can no longer find them. I know they were stored under music videos, but I cannot find music videos anymore in the video app. I am getting so frustrated with Apple, that I am seriously considering changing to android. My friend uses an android pad and he doesn't have any of the problem I have had.

Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.

I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any scanning process.

  • ITunes 7.1.1 crashed - library file rebuilt - playlists gone - help

I have iTunes 7.1.1 and today it crashed and when I re-opened it, it said something like the iTunes Library could not be found and then it started to rebuild the file and named the old one damaged. Now all my playlists are gone, all my saved podcasts are gone and stuff that I ripped to my iTunes in the last two weeks are gone too. How do I get my old iTunes library file back?

Ignore the previous post.... my issue has been solved. I had the iTunes plug-in iConcert. At the suggest I found in another thread, I deleted it, re-installed iTunes. and BANG, iTunes is working!!

  • Music/Playlist gone

I tried to "consolidate the music" according to the help but that is not working at all. After clicking on consolidate nothng happens.

Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

  • Phase playlist gone.  How can I get it back?

I recently opened my iTunes and found that all of my music (playlists and all) was gone. I called Apple support and the guy told me I could go to "File" then "Add folder to library" and add my iTunes folder back. I did that and I got all of my music back but my playlists are still gone. My phase game was working fine before but now since I've resynched my iPod and my playlists are gone I can only play the game with the Phase Soundtrack songs. So my question is how can I add a new playlist that will work with phase? I called and emailed Apple support about this problem and they didn't help me at all. They told me how to get the music back (but I had already fixed that problem) but offered no help about the playlists. Please help!
    Thanks!

Wow, that must be really irritating...
Try syncing your purchases from your iPod. Connect your iPod to iTunes and go to File/Transfer Purchases from iPod. You might get your Phase playlist back; if you do, it will probably be empty and you'll have to put your songs back in it.
Now, about your other playlists, I think you're going to have to recreate those from scratch.

  • Playlist gone and I can't update my ipod

Hey...I would be so thankful if somebody could help me. My playlist with all my music on it is gone...and I dunno how. But anyways...it won't let me update because it was that the playlist containing the songs isn't there anymore, so there's no songs on my ipod now. I can't find it. Please Help!!!

First try recreating the iTunes library and see if the playlist comes back. go here to recreat the library http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313.
Secondly what playlist is this? One that is part of iTunes or one you personally created?

  • Ios playlists don't match with iTunes

I have a number of Smart Playlists in iTunes, but when I pull them up on my iOS device, they don't order in the same way, so song ordering is completely mixed up. Anyone know how to get the smart playlists in iTunes to play in order on the iOS device?

That is the weird part.  2 computers are missing some of the same playlists.  While some other playlists are present on all 3.  Also, after I started match on the second PC, then I got some double entries of playlists accept with a 1 added at the end of one copy.  This sort of makes sence since all 3 PCs started with the same playlists.  Do you know if I can export the playlists to an xml file and import that on the PCs that are missing playlists or is this info only in the itl file?  Appreciate your responses to this issue.

  • All music and playlists gone after newest iTunes update?

I just updated my iTunes and when I opened it back up my whole library, music and playlists, were gone? What happened and what do I need to do to get it all back?

This seemed like it was working but I have way to many iTunes files and folders all named the same in various spots. I beleive I need to delete some of them but I'm not sure what to delete and what not?

  • [iOS][Playlists] Offline Music Confirmation Button/pop-up (mobile app)

In the mobile app (IOS and Android), I would like to see a confirmation button or pop-up window if I push the button to make a playlist available Offline OR when removing a playlist from Offline availablility.
OR if possible, instead of just a button, make the "Available Offline" slider longer so the motion is more deliberate, rather than a simple tap.
In trying to get used to holding a new phone (iphone6) I accidentally removed a playlist from offline availability.  I tapped the button again and managed to save about 3/4 of the playlist, but it still meant having to sync up about 100songs again.
    Thank you,
    -Dave

  • Music and playlists gone

Lately, my computer has been having some weird problems with memory. I tried opening itunes one day, only to discover all of my playlists and music gone. Is there any way I can re-import my old library? I'd hate to have to re-import every single song one by one.

File>Add folder to library and add the whole iTunes folder into your library, it should be in My Music

  • Help! Just upgraded to newest version,  and all my playlists gone

    Hi there,
I wonder whether anyone might be able to help. I've just upgraded to the latest version of itunes and all my playlists have gone. The music, it seems is all intact, but not in the playlists.
This is hours of work! Is there anything I can do to restore my playlists?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    All the best,
    Sophie

Same here, I lost all mine as well... this seems to be a common problem, so hopefully Apple will get their butts in gear and fix it.

  • Is Random Broken in iOS Playlists?

I have about 2,000 songs rotating on and off my phone out of my iTunes library on my desktop Mac. If I use iTunes to make a random list of 25 jazz tunes which haven't played in, say, a week, it looks fine in iTunes. But when I launch Music on my phone, instead of a random list, iOS is selecting songs alphabetically by artist.
Yes, I have "selected by random" checked off in iTunes.
    Can anyone help?

Thank you, but I want to use my iTunes library because the playcounts work to keep my playlists properly rotated.
