Ios 8 stuck at preparing Update

Erm now my ios 8 is stucked at preparing update.and i hope it can download....i forgotten to do a backup and deleted my apps....reply me please

Just came out a 45 minute chat and a one hour call with Apple. It looks like my iTunes backup of my iPad mini got somehow corrupted. Happily I also own an iPad Air and I am restoring it from that device. If your backup also got corrupted during the installation of iOS8 I am afraid you can only set it up as a new device and start all over again. You can download your apps from the App Store, your music from the iTunes Store and try to get your pictures back from iPhoto or so. I don't see a way to use the old backup if it is corrupted as well.
If you can't restore try to hold both buttons for 30 seconds or so until you see the "connect to iTunes" logo on your screen. If iTunes is complaining about turning off "Find My iPhone" you can delete the device via iCloud.com.
Life's getting easier and easier :-)

    Hi Alex,
If you still aren't able to successfully update your phone using iTunes because iTunes appears to be stuck preparing your phone. I would recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article, named:

  • Software Update Stuck on 'Preparing Update...'

    Hi all,
Today I got a message on my Apple TV (the new 2nd generation one) that there was a software update available. So I initiated the update. It downloaded fine then progressed to the screen with just the apple logo and the progress bar below it. Under that it says:
"Step 1 of 2: Preparing update... Do not unplug your Apple TV while it updates."
And that's where it has been stuck for about an hour. The progress bar hasn't moved past the first little bit.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Scott

Received the same message. Update took about 2 minutes. I would suggest unplugging your device and set the update restart.
    Good Luck

  • Itunes stuck on "preparing to update" when I try to transfer music?

I have an iphone 4, everything was fine until I updated to iOS 7.1 I believe. Every time I try to transfer a song to my phone it gets stuck on preparing to update forever and it never actually updates anything. When I go to "on this iphone" and search for the songs they appear greyed out. It doesn't matter how many songs I wanna transfer, it takes forever even when it's just 1. I manually manage music. Anybody can help me? This is really frustrating.

Hello there, I'm just a newbie here so please bear with me. I'm 1000% sure it's a compatibility problem between iOS 7.11 and newer models of iphones plus ipod touches. I've encountered the same annoyance many times- ipod touch 5th gen syncs perfectly for an entire month then gets stuck on the dreaded "preparing to update". Please don't hit me for saying this, but the best option is to wait: it once took me literally 15 minutes to get 2 bloody songs on my device- it WILL update eventually. Still, if you (as a perfectly reasonable human being) can't accept that, try re-installing itunes- this has worked for me in the past, but is fairly sporadic, only effective 60% of the time. Finally, I have a hypothesis that has to do with album art- I once sat my arse down and noticed that the "updates" usually ends with a painfully slow "updating files". I also noticed after running some experiments that songs WITHOUT album art sync much, much faster. I highly suggest you try syncing your tracks without the album art, then fixing it on your device, as inconvenient as it is.
I sincerely hope my advice would be of use. Sorry for the useless rambling.

  • ITunes stuck at preparing iPad for software update

As shown here, iTunes is stuck at "preparing iPad for software update."
It hsd been here for over 3 hours. The iPad itself seems normal and doesn't show a sync indication or anything else.
The is iTunes 11.1.3 (8) on Max OS 10.9 Mavericks.
    The iPad is iOS 7.0.3.
I cannot quit iTunes, but as noted, the iPad appears to be normal, like nothing is really happening.
    Suggestions?

After being stuck in iTune with status bar saying preparig iPad... I went to the iPad where settings had a red 1 and I press and went into settings. It said that there was an update to the software waiting. I thought that was strange because I had started it from iTunes. so I went head and pressed to start the update from the iPad and it did it and completed the update in about 2 mintues. I know if I had unplugged the iPad or stop iTunes or rebooted it would have corrupted the iPad and I would have had to reload everything again. That's because it happen once before like that. So I hope this works you someone else out there...

  • IPad Mini stuck after iOS 8.0.2 update: How do I recover my data?

I purchased an iPad Mini with Retina display just before leaving on vacation 2 weeks ago and used it to take 100's of pictures.
While waiting for my return flight home I decided to apply the iOS 8.0.2 update. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! Now, my iPad is stuck in Recovery Mode and won't boot up. I tried different utilities (Mac FoneLab, RescuePhone, iPad Data Recovery, iFoneBox, ReiBoot), but none of them worked.
What can I do to recover my pictures? I have no backups.
Note: I set a simple passcode on my iPad. So, I think my data is encrypted (but I'm not sure).
    Thank you in advance
    -- Daniel

    YOU ARE IN RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note: Data will be lost

  • IPod iOS8.0.2 stuck on "preparing to update"

I just bought a brand new iPod Touch and it's been a complete pain in the *** to be able to transfer my music library.
I'm used to using the iPod Classic which is a pretty basic player.
I was about 75% done transferring my music library (manually) to the iPod Touch (only not the whole library as the size of this device is significantly smaller)
I was doing this by dragging and dropping files.  At first it seemed to work fine, then I noticed that all of my songs on the iPod had a red square with a circle around it.
I ended up doing a restore on the iPod and tried again.  This time it seems to work, but it got stuck on preparing to update.
Is there a setting that should make file transfers more seamless?  I was able to hit the "x" beside the warning and then hit "Sync" when looking at the device page.
Just seems like a lot of additional work.

You did the only thing you could. You did not mis any settings.
    Glitches do occur sometimes.

  • HT4623 Now that iOS is consistently being updated.  Will the 1st Generation IPad be stuck with IOS 5?  Eventually my IPad will be good for nothing as Apps start requiring the updated software.

Now that iOS is consistently being updated.  Will the 1st Generation IPad be stuck with IOS 5?  Eventually my IPad will be good for nothing as Apps start requiring the updated software.

The iPad 1 can only be updated to iOS 5.1.1. This is unlikely to change.
The apps you have will continue to work and there are still many apps which run on iOS 5 (or even earlier iOS levels).

iOS 6.0 software update stuck,, said it took 7 min. Now has been 80% complete for 2hrs.

Be patient. Apple just released IOS 6.1 and their servers are inundated with downloads. The network link between you and Apple may also have some undisclosed throughput or latency issues.
I just updated to IOS 6.1 and it took much longer than I expected.

The typical fix if the progress bar totally freezes - meaning no movement at all for more than 20 minutes - and iTunes will no recognize the device - is to try to put the iPad into recovery mode. That is explained here.
iPad: Unable to update or restore
However, don't jump the gun. Keep an eye on the progress bar and if it is moving at all - even very slowly - let it go for a while. I'm updating my iPod touch first and the progress bar is moving but very slowly.

  • Ipad 2 stuck on preparing to update and now not recognised in itunes

Firstly my ipad had some songs with lighter colour, if i played that song i would skip to next song. After that when i add songs, video, pdf to my ipad it would stuck on preparing to update. Though i could add files in the app's folder. Now itunes is not recognising the ipad when connected with usb, but shows up in itunes as wireless sync. It shows up in windows explorer. Same thing with my ipod shuffle 4. When i connect ipod shuffle, itunes says syncing ipod, ipod sync compeleted but i cant see the ipod under devices. I have compeletely reinstalled itunes as instructed in the apple's support page and restarted my laptop ( win x64).
I have checked the photo sync and deleted the videos as mentioned in the thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2769353?start=0&tstart=0
But no luck, please help me, i would try restoring my ipad but i don't want to lose the allofwiki dump file.
    Thanks

My iPad and iPhone are doing the same thing.  Must be the traffic.

  • Installing ipad IOS 8?? now stuck in "verifying update" and cant even shut down. Help?

In trying to install IOS 8?? (current update)  on ipad and now stuck on "verifying update". Cannot even shut the thing down. Help??

You need to use Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off your device
    2. Press the Home button and while holding it, connect your device to the computer
    3. Keep the Home button pressed until you see the "Connect to iTunes screen"
    4. Release the Home button and open iTunes on your computer
    5. You will see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode". Use iTunes to recover your device.
You may need to repeat these steps several times.
    Hope this helps!
