IOS 8: The textbox to change the description field of the iCloud email account no longer exists
The textbox to change the description of the iCloud email account that existed in all previous versions of iOS, and is available for all other types of email accounts under iOS 8, appears to have been removed. Without this textbox, it is not possible to change the default description of "iCould", or to change a description that was set with a previous version of iOS. The description field still exists, as the value that I set on a previous version of iOS is still being used by some of my iOS devices, but there is currently no way to change it via the current iOS 8 UI. The description field is available to change for all other kinds of email accounts.

I used an iCloud backup to transfer everything on my iPhone 5s to my iPhone 6. The (modified) description for my iCloud account transferred and appears the way I want it to appear on my iPhone 6. However, it cannot be changed.
Alternatively, I also have a new iPad Air 2 that I set up as a completely new iPad (i.e. I did not transfer anything from an older iPad). The iPad shows the description for my iCloud account as the default: "iCloud." It, too, cannot be changed.
True, this is only a minor annoyance, but it would be less of an issue if Apple had not removed a feature that previously existed in iOS 7.
I'm not sure if the removal was intentional or unintentional, but, again, I hope this gets fixed soon. In the meantime, I would be interested in anyone can find a workaround.

Unfortunately I cannot reset the PW because the email account no longer exists so when it says it is sending information to reset PW to email account it is going nowhere. How am I able to reset the PW. Also, when it asks for my birthdate in order to reset it that way I use the birthdates of everyone in my family and not one works. Please help.

I just got an iphone recently and I started my apple id using my gmail email address. I decided to change email from gmail to icloud so I setup an icloud email account and now I have two apple id accounts. All my primary information is in the gmail apple id account and i just want to merge the two together. I've tried changing the apple id on the main account to the icloud email, but it says it already exists. How can I merge these two accounts without deleting one or the other?

You could move all your calendars contacts etc over from the account you don't want to the one you do, it's not simple but about all I can suggest. -

I bought my iPhone 5s and set up the AppleID for iCloud to be the same as the Apple ID I already used for iTunes and the App store. I was using @shaw.ca as part of the emaill address. I changed my ISP to save money so had to change the Apple ID. I had no issues changing it for iTunes and the App store, but it wouldn't change for iCloud. I don't recall the password and can't have it sent to me as that address does not work any longer.
What do I do to get my AppleID for iCloud working again?Yes, you understood correctly. From your explanation, you created your hotmail.ca ID by revising the shaw.ca ID. Given that, you should perform the steps listed in my original post:
Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless using iCloud Photo Library). When finished goThen go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device). -

The following article details the process of changing the signed in iCloud account on your device.
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.

How do you get rid of an old Apple ID that hasn't been used in a while in which you no longer remember the password and the email account it's tied to no longer exists?
The password will not be sent to you, because Apple does not know it. They will send a link where you can reset the password. It will be sent to your Rescue email address, not the iCloud email address. If you don't have one contact Apple Account Security and they can reset it for you: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699

How can I change the iCloud associated with my iPhone when the email account no longer exists?
My mum had the iPhone that I'm now using for a couple of years, and the iCloud account attached to it uses an email address that was shut down by Virgin, so we can't access it any more to verify emails, etc.
Now that I'm using it, I want to assign it to my ID or even reset it, but the password my mum is certain she used won't be accepted. I looked around the community and tried to change her iCloud settings online to the old email address and then delete the iCloud on my iPhone using the new password for the new ID she now has, but it won't seem to accept any password.
Is there any way at all I can do this, or will I have to get a Genius appointment or something?

Log in and click on your user name, then look at the upper the right side of the page.
Click on the triangle to the left of the "More Resources" section.
This will drop down, and give you options.
Select User Settings.
This will now open a page, and in the light blue type on top, follow it along to Contact Information, click on that, and change your e-mail address to what you want, and hit the blue submit button on the bottom right side of the page.

How do I delete an ICloud acct on IPhone when the old email address no longer exists?
I changed my Apple ID password due to a phishing email and it started a downward spiral of issues. My original ICloud email address no longer exists. I have tried to sign out/in in itunes that worked but I cannot delete the ICloud account because the field is not editable for apple ID. I tried setting it back to the old email address to turn off Find my IPhone but it will nopt allow because the email address cannot be verified because it no longer exists.
To Delete an iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. You should then be able to delete the old account. When done, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.

You can do the changes as per Moeze suggestion.
What we have did is that we have writeen a exit in substitution rule for the offsetting G/L code (assumptioning that you want the description for offsetting g/l code).
We have added the offsetting g/l code in special feild and accordingly the system displays the corresponding description of the offsetting g/l code.
Try it,it will work.
If not do revert for the needful.

Epson Perfection 1200 scanner continues to function as a flatbed scanner but when I try to scan transparencies/film negs the control panels change in Image Capture but the scanner bar will not complete the overview scan & cannot travel beyond the first 2/3 centimeters. All the communications seem to recognise the scanner and the mode for the intended scan but the necessary overview scan is not completed, nothing comes up on the Image Capture scan window. If I unplug the film adaptor I can get a document scan. When I plug in the adaptor again the Image Capture details change which allows me to select the type of scan required but when the scanner attempts an overview scan it is unable to complete it.
I have had the scanner from new (12 Years) and have previously scanned slides and film with the adaptor but maybe this was before I upgraded my computer (imac 27").
Do I have to buy a new scanner? It seems so close to working correctly.
I have downloaded the Epson recommended driver (5.4) and have Epson Perfection 1200 6.6 Universal showing in the Applications List.
Any thoughts or observations would be much appreciated before I go out and spend money an new hardware.

What was the procedure you did to unlock the phone?
Standard unlocking procedure once processed by the carrier:
Backup in iTunes
Erase the phone (ignore restore terminology here)
Plug the phone to the computer and then launch iTunes
Wait for unlock notification.
Restore the backup. -
I downloaded Safari 5.1 onto Mac OS 10.6.8 some time ago. Yesterday the back/forward arrows next to the url window changed to a +, which adds the current url as a bookmark. I want the arrows back. What happened, and how can I fix this? Thanks. kammro

I have got two photos by mail from iPhoto. My friend has put descriptions in the description field. The I got the mail I saw the description below each photo. If I check the photos with Preview they have Exif and JFIF fields but no IPTC field.
Does you friend use any accented letters in the descriptions? That might cause it but I don't know for sure.
Has he run any repair operations on his library, i.e. repairing the database file? Another possible fixe that's easy to apply is the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache folder(s):
Home/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
and, if there is one, the
Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks, 10.9, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:

Your screen is 1920 by 1080 pixels.
The problem appeared after having worked normally.
When we select a picture from the organizer (album) and click on the edit button. The editor software changes the entire computer resolution from 1920 x 1080 to 640 x 480 (very unusable).
That's not clear for me: did you click on the 'Edit' button on the bottom right part of the organizer, or did you use the menu or the right click popup menu to open the editor? In the second case, you are in the editor workspace.
We tried right clicking on the Elements 13 icon, select properties and under compatibility we made sure that "run in 640 x 480 screen resolution" was de-selected, and it was. Cannot find any properties window for the editor?
The editor has its properties in the 'Edit/preferences' menu, but there is nothing about resolution there.
Just to be sure : when you are in the organizer with the left 'Folders' panel shown, you highlight one of those pictures to edit. Then you right click and choose to "go to folder". Do the images are shown as 'offline' ? If that is the case, the original are on an external drive which is not connected, and what you are seeing is a 'preview' copy on your computer with 640 x 480 resolution. -
Add description fields to the demand simulation screen on CTM

We have a requirement to add the description fields to the demand simulation screen inside the CTM, do you know how to do this? The description fields are not available in the standard layout, I couldn´t find any exit or BADI to insert more fields on the screen.
