IOS 8 update states I need to delete apps under usage settings.  True?

ios 8 update states I need to delete apps under usage.  I want to keep these apps.  Feedback?

This might be true if you are running out of usable space on your device and you want to install a new app. Sometimes installing a new app can take up to 3x as much available space as the actual size of the app. In that case you'll have to free some space by deleting apps or app data.

  • Have done the iOS 5 update and lost some of my apps now can't get them back and won't let me register my wife's card on my account

Have done the iOS 5 update and lost half of my apps won't let me get them back and won't let me register my wife's card on my account as I don't use credit or debit cards

    Relax, nobody's ripping you off...
Apps are tied to the Apple ID you purchased them on and not the device so getting them all back is easy so long as you know the account details. To reinstall the apps just use the App Store and use the original Apple ID (account) that was used to purchase them, then re-install.  If you setup a new Apple ID on your device when you initialized iOS 5 then go into the App Store app and change the account back to the one that was there before. Then go to update > Not on this iPhone and start installing...

  • HT204390 Please let me know whether I can make more storage available by deleting items in usage settings

My attempt to upgrade to iOS 8.0 resulted in massage as it requires 4.7 GB Space I am required to make more storage available by deleting items in usage settings I have valuable photos of 6.9 GB. Suggest me if  I delete the photos how do I get them back. Is there any possibility of increasing the storage of my iPAD mini Sl. No. F4*******193. (Mode MD528LL/A).

Back your photos up somewhere. E-mail them somewhere, upload them to dropbox, back them up somewhere. If you delete them they're gone. Also iOS8 drastically alters how photostream and the such works, so read up and back up your photos or you may lose them.
If you're short on space on  your ipad, try doing the upgrade via iTunes and your computer. Then your computer supplies that expansion room and you wont' need to delete stuff off the iPad.

  • Imovie 9.0.8 wont update, states i need to use another account

The problem is it is my wifes laptop and i updated it to mountain lion on my account as you can.
Now i have an update for Imovie that won't allow an update, it states that i need to use another account?
Which account as i have tried mine and my wife apple acounts. Imove update is 9.0.8.
is this worth a trip to the genius bar?

I am an IT professional, my home network logs in securely and the issue is not with the user logon, it is to do with the update of the software via app store.
Imovie software will not update via my wifes itunes account, nor via my itunes account. this was used to update to mountain lion. There are no other accounts available to try ? so why does itunes app state i need another account?

  • When i download software updates, do I need to delete old versions from my computer?

I'm updating my software on my Macbook (I'm a bit rubbish at keeping them up to date) and I noticed another tab entitled 'Installed Software' which has various versions of Itunes, Security updates etc on it. Do I need to delete these or are they self-deleting as i update items? I don't want to have my computer running slow due to too many versions of software on there that i don't need.

You need to set your primary email rules to delete your emails from the server.
Be that on your PC or Mac or Web mail client
The iPad is a client only and doesn't do this for you.
The iPad is designed to allow you view your mail (ideally via an Imap or Exchange server) however management should be carried out on server for security reasons.

  • IOS 7.1.1 iPad unable to delete apps

I downloaded a game from the App Store onto my iPad iOS 7.1.1
and don't like it but when I tried to delete it, all the icon shake but no "X" appears.
How do you delete apps? Found several tips online but none work because
no X's show up on shaking icons. Nothing will delete. i tried double-tapping
it & holding 2nd tap as suggested in another help. The app opens after the first
tap so never get to holding tap. Tried PC #1troubleshooting tool and powered
it off and charged it up. No go.
I Would appreciate advice. I'm afraid to update to 7.1.2 -have heard problems.

  • After update do I need to repurchase apps?

After updating to Mountain Lion do I need to repurchase apps that I already have?

Well it depends on what OS you are updating from and what apps you are talking about.
If you are still on Snow Leopard or earlier and have any old apps from the PPC days those won't run on ML. Anything else should be OK.

  • How to delete items in usage settings

I am needing to delete programs to be able to update the new software. It tells me I need more storage. It says to delete in items in usage settings???

    Thumper918 wrote:

That translates to Settings/General/Usage/Manage Storage. This will bring up a list of all apps that you have installed on the device. Tapping on one in the list will allow you to delete it directly from this list.
Or do as KiltedTim suggested and update the iPad through iTunes using the PC that your device is synced with. You likely will not have to delete anything.

  • IOS 5 Update - Not possible to recover Purchased apps after having changed the country of origin

    All
I am currently struggling to restore my apps that I have purchased on my iPhone 4. I can see my purchase history but here is the problem: The majority of the apps were purchased when my iTunes account was still linked to my German bank account/Region. I have changed the region and payment details when in relocated to the UK. The question is now how can I restore my apps made while my account was linked to my German details? I already tried to restore my payment information and region but no luck so far.
Can anybody assist me with this problem? Any input would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

@shadow221, unfortunately that method only retured my previously backedup photos and nothing else. After attempting restoring it back to a few Backups with failed attempts, I just gave up.
Some users mentioned doing a complete restore to factory setting and do a backup but it just screwed with my ipod and no music back.  So i just let it be.  I reloaded my old tracks from iTunes, my Apps, unfortunately iTunes doesnt give me any option to reload any of my videos FML.
I did the above and wasted a good day and a half of my life reloading (on my pc) 300 songs, now I only have 1,200+ more to download to match my previous library contents.  Thanks Apple.
PS: i called Apple a week before the iOS 5 release and an associate explained that it will NOT delete my library if I do the update---thanks much for the warning!!!

  • IOS 8 update on iphone 5 - messed up apps

After installing 8.on my iPhone 5, some of my apps are really messed up.  In-app purchases have disappeared and attempts to restore purchases or even just buy them again are unsuccessful...this same app also now won't save to camera roll even though it appears to. Another app is buggy beyond belief,  I've contacted one of the developers and they've fixed their issues but the other developers haven't responded.  What's going on?  Should I delete and repurchase the buggy apps? Will there be fixes in the near future or are the affected apps going to remain inoperative?

II'm sorry, I thought I'd updated to 8.02 but I checked and I only have 8.0.  I'm afraid to update to 8.02 as I've been reading both good and bad about it, like it may fix my app problem but screw up my Wi-fi.   I don't know what to do.   I'm between a rock and a hard place.

  • Does update all restore all my deleted apps?

I have downloaded tons of apps, but have also deleted many of them to make space in my phone.
If I "update all" alls from the App Store, will this update only the apps that are installed (and not deleted) on my phone?  or will it also reinstall all the other apps I've bought or downloaded in the past?
    Thank you.

"Update all" will only update the ones in the list that are showing as having an update.

  • After iOS 5 update i only have music and apps the same. missing some iOS 5 features

i lost contacts, photos, favorites, messages, notes -- everything except my apps and music. i synced before many times. how do i retrieve this????

Update: I managed to restore everything back to the sync I did right before I updated to iOS. We're going on 5 hours now of f***ing with this phone but hopefully now all I have to do is rearrange all my apps again...
I CTRL clicked on my phone in iTunes and thankfully the backup I did last night showed up in the pop up menu. It gave me the option to "restore from backup" and I chose that one. When it finished the restore everything looked like it did yesterday except I had the new features of iOS. Hooray! Hope this works for you, too.

  • IOS 5 Update on iPhone 4 - All Purchased Apps are GONE!

    Hi there,
I recently updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and upon updating all my apps downloaded and purchased were no longer on my iPhone. I then went to my iTunes account to reload all my purchased apps and they were no longer listed under my accounts previous purchases. Has anyone had this issue happen- what can I do? I've lost probably 50$ worth of apps now and I am somewhat dissapointed with that!
    Help?
    Chris

Likely you have to Apple ID's and the one your iPhone is logged in with is differtn than the iTunes account where your apps and content are located.

  • HT5858 I downloaded the ios 7 update, and now none of my apps are showing as shortcut icons on the home screen.

I know the apps are all still on my phone because when I go to the app store and choose an app I have the "open" option instead of "install". Also when I double-tap the home screen I see all of the icons to scroll through at the bottom of the screen, I can tap on one and open it up with no problem, but how do I get the icons to show back up on the home screen?

Sync with itunes or on your phone go to appstore - update - purchase - all or not on this phone and redownload the app.
