IOS 9 Beta 2

So, I installed iOS 9 Beta 2 last night. I had originally installed the first beta, but reverted back to iOS 8.4 as I couldn't cope with the ridiculous battery life! I'm happy to report that the battery life in iOS 9 Beta 2 is MUCH better. There are a few more new features too: 1. iOS will now temporarily delete apps to make room for the firmware upgrade. So, if you're running low on space, the phone will be able to remove a few apps, and then restore them once the new firmware is up and running. 2. There is now a 'News' toggle in the iCloud settings, although there is no News App yet. I'd presume that this would be included in Beta 3. 3. The Search function is much better, and now pulls information from a wide variety of sources and third party apps. You also have the option to toggle apps on/off in the search settings menu. 4. The Podcast Logo has been tweaked slightly (wow!). 5. The description for low power mode has been tweaked slightly (it still does the same thing, though). 6. Handoff has now appeared in the multitasking view. Basically, if you're doing something on your iPad/Macbook/iPhone etc. and want to continue where you left off on another device, this is how you do it. The Handoff tab appears as the first option in the multitasking view. I've not had much chance to have a proper play with the phone yet, but what seems most striking between this and the first beta is the battery performance which I'm very pleased about!

11hrs 27mins off charge. And I'm at 82%.

I have noticed a couple of little niggles however:
1. The Twitter app does NOT play nicely with iOS 9. The buttons along the bottom do not respond and I quite often have to shut down the app and restart it to get it to work.
2. The multitasking panes will sometimes freeze or stutter. This is something which I presume is to do with the new layout, and something which just needs a bit of a tweak.
Apart from that, all is well on the good ship iOS 9

IOS Beta 7 OTA, iPhone 3GS stuck flashing between Apple Logo and a white screen

After installing iOS Beta 7 OTA, iPhone 3GS is stuck flashing between Apple Logo and a white screen. I can turn the phone off by holding the top button. But the phone boots straight to the flashing situation. It doesn't appear in iTunes, and I haven't succeeded in putting into recovery mode.

for sure, the problem is not related to OTA update
this is my recipe, even if i think that the behaviour is a kind of random and all the recipes given here do not really help
- absolutely needed: cross your finger before running the procedure
- leave the battery run flat
- open itunes
- connect usb
- when it starts booting, press home and keep it pressed
- if it loops (it will ...), try to turn it off with power button while keeping home
- after a few tries, it will not reboot and it will go into recovery mode BUT WITH SCREEN BLACK (you see it is in recovery mode in itunes)
- upload ios5b7
anyway ... this time it was a bad release by apple ...
and i think this thread will become very "popular" in the next days

IOS Beta iCloud Backup Can't be Deleted

I have an iCloud backup from one of the iOS betas that I can't delete from my phone or from the iCloud preferences pane on my Mac. Apple seems to want to charge me for an incident to look into this which means that I'll never use iCloud. Any suggestions?

I was having this same issue, I had 2 iCloud backups from the iOS 5 beta period that were taking up over 3gb and I could not see them on the manage screen in order to delete them. All I did was backup my iPad (with the non beta OS of course) and it automagically cleared out the old beta backups. Now I have all my space back and I can see the backup in the manage screen. Hope that helps.

Cannot Update From iOS Beta 1 to Beta 2?

Well I've got the iOS Beta 1 Software on my iPod Touch 4th Generation and I know it's the first Beta. It's great but when I go to software update, it says it's up to date on iOS 6.0 without offering me an update to Beta 2. I am positive it's the first Beta. Is there any other way of checking which Beta I have just to be sure or another way i can update without restoring? In General Settings under about I get this for the version: 6.0 (10A5316k)
I'm pretty sure that is Beta 1. So how come I cannot update?!?

IOS beta has expired

Just noticed that Testflight reports the iOS beta has expired, just curious if there will be a new beta release or if a final release is coming.

IOS beta 5 restore

Hi! Well I know ios 8 official is coming very soon and I'm now on beta 5 but I want to restore for a day or two before upgrading so how do I restore to ios 7.1.2? When I click restore it says resource not found and on apple's website says to put my ipod in recovery mode in that case but I use assistive touch instead of home button cause its broken(the home button)and doesn't work. Any other working on ios 8 beta 5 way to restore?I know it says ios 7.1.1 on the thread but I'm on 8 beta 5.

IOS Beta and updating to public release?

I am new to using iOS Beta. I used the iOS 5 beta and now that the public release is out what do I need to do to update to the public release instead of the Beta? Thanks

Since you are either a beta tester or a developer you need to post your question in the Developer's Forum or contact the developer who got you the beta version.

Can I run a backup when iOS beta has expired?

Hi,
I'm traveling overseas and have been unable to install IOS 6 after the latest beta. I was trying to backup my phone, but the Internet here is bad, so it kept failing.
Is there a way to still do a backup before restoring to the release version of IOS6?
I don't have my own computer here to backup with iTunes, (I don't know if that's possible after the beta has expired?)
I just want to know if there's a way to backup still, how I can do it before trying to restore to the release version.
I will try see if I can install iTunes on one of the computers at the office I'm working at here.
I like to have an iCloud backup too though, because in my experience the iTunes backups aren't always so good, often I have to go reinstall apps after restoring.

I just went ahead and did it (shift click on update - and choose restore file downloaded from dev page)
And it worked fine it seems.
No need to restore from backup

IOS beta 2 expired phone tells me to connect it to itunes

Hi im a developer and I have ios 6 beta 2 on my 3gs. Unfortunatley I didnt have time or Internet to update it to 6.0;
This morning I wake up and the phone is locked! Tells me to connect it to iTuens. or connect to a wifi hotspot. My wifi doesnt work so I connected it to the macbook. (mountain lion) with itunes(10.7 21). It tells my that my iphones software has expired.
If I restore it then it says "... The requested resource was not found";
If I click the update button it says "iOs 6.0 is the current version"
How to fix this problem?

As part of the developper program, you should have access to a section on Apple's website to download the latest built if I'm not mistaken. But asking on the dev forum will probably get you more answers

IOS Beta Enrollment Program

It seems when trying to go to the Software Beta Program enrollment page, it only shows enrollment for Macs. Where is the page for enrolling iOS devices? I read somewhere recently that the page would come up if you typed in https://appleseed.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/profile, it would show the iOS enrollment page but now all it does is redirect you to the Mac enrollment page which is https://appleseed.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/guide.

Sounds like you're doing everything right here .. although I'm not sure what you mean by "upload my DPS app to it"
Enterprise signed – You can create iPad apps for internal distribution only. An enterprise signed app (also called an in-house app or an ad hoc app) is distributed within the company rather than downloaded from the Apple Store.
Enterprise signed viewer apps are available only to DPS Enterprise subscribers.
You'll find some details about Entreprise signed viewers in the iPad Publishing Companion Guide .. which you'll find in the DPS dashboard.

IOS beta 2 issues

Hi apple,
I am using the ios6 beta 2 version. Here are a few issues that've occured..
I cant take pictures with my camera. It crashes straight away after i launch the app. I also cannot take pictures using a third party app. Therefore its like my camera is totally useless now.
Secondly, i cannot facetime. People can call me and they can see me. But they cannot hear me...we've tried calling several times but still to no avail. Hopefully apple will solve the issue when the official ios is out. Thanks

Spotify Hanging On Launch (iOS Beta 9)

Background: I'm running iOS 9 beta on an iPhone 6 Plus connected to an Apple Watch on Watch OS 2 beta, so I'm used to everything being buggy with my phone. But until this week, I've never had an issue isolated to the Spotify app. (Kudos, Spotify devs!!) Problem: today, I launched Spotify and it immediately hung. I "killed" the app and relaunched, and it let me hit play, but it didn't play anything. I started reading through the forums (https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-iOS-iPhone-iPad/iOS-8-Support/td-p/920479/page/1) and found a fix that worked for a lot of people running iOS 8. I tried it for my iOS 9 setup and it worked like a charm! Solution:1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Language & Region > Region2. Change your region. (Not sure the rest of these steps are actually necessary. Post if you skip them and it still works! I still recommend doing step 6, though... *wink*)3. Launch or switch over to Spotify. 4. Kill Spotify.5. Reopen Settings and navigate back to the Region screen if necessary.6. Change your region back to your actual country of origin. Best of luck, and thank you, Spotify Community!

in our tests, we have the same problem - only help -> remove app, install it new and rejoin to the mdm :-(
Please test the join with an other iphone, which is not in the mdm - we have big problems at the momtent, to join iOS devices with 7.1.1.

Apple's servers are being hammered by everyone and his dog trying to get the update the minute it was released. I'd suggest you wait a few hours, or perhaps until tomorrow, and then try again. If you continue to have problems, post in the developer forums to which you have access as a member of Apple's iOS Developer Program.

Hi,
I am a part of developper program and i installed ios 6 beta4. Now as the GM release is out, i wantto upgrade. But on my phone it says 6.0 is the latest. and if i try and restore through my iTunes, it says required library not found. even though I have downloaded the iPhone4,1_6.0_10A403_Restore from developer platform. It I ipen it, nothing happens.
Please help. i would like to use the GM release, especially features like pararomic pictures

If you are a developer you were authorized to use the Beta version of the software and were provided instructions on how to update. If you misplaced those instructions you might get help in the developer forums.
