IOS Calendar - Google CalDAV Alerts Disappear

So I'll make this brief and succint. I have daily alerts set up in my sync'd Google calendar using the native iOS Calendar.
What happens is that I hear the noise on my device (Alert for Calendar event), but when you look at your phone or iPad, the event is gone. As some of these are daily reminders, I know what they are, so I know what I missed. I then started watching my phone during the time change. Sure enough, at the date/time of an event, I would briefly see the alert and it would disappear instantly. This is really frustrating, as at times I have other events that are not daily and those disappear too. I have to go open up the Calendar app to find out what it is. It used to be that the alert would stay up on my screen until I could dismiss/OK it.. so I didn't miss it.
I have a single Google account that I used to add 'CalDav' sync to my iPhone and iPad.
My Google account has 3 calendars (Personal, Family, Good Habits).
These 3 calendars show up, and sync properly with the Calendar app. I see them in there no problem, and it updates.
I have it set up on my iPhone (4s/iOS 6.1) and iPad 3 (iOS 6.1) the same way.
Does anybody else have problems with their Calendar Alerts disappearing from the screen?
For now, the only way I've found to resolve it is to use Google.com/calendar to set up important events to also send me an SMS. This way I at least get a solid notification I can't miss.
I would really love to have the pop-up alerts work properly though. Combing the internet has not yielded help. Using other calendar apps does not help.
Should I be using Exchange to sync my Google Calendars instead of CalDAV? As Exchange support is being dropped by Google, this is not an option.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and for any help you can lend.

I recall a couple years ago when I set it up there were limitations, I forget what they were now, to using active sync and people recommended using cardav and caldav.  I have a Google Apps for Domains account that I’m using.  At this point I see no reason to investigate further.
Thanks again!

  • IOS 4 breaks CalDAV calendars (events are missing)

I can successfully connect to my CalDAV server on my iPhone. The list of calendars, including delegates, show up in Calendar with their assigned calendar colors. Unfortunately, no events are visible. If I create an event on my iPhone, it is successfully published to my server and will also show up in iCal on my Mac and my web client. The event then disappears from my iPhone.
iCal has no problem with my calendar server and my iPhone synchronized with it just fine before iOS 4.
Google Calendar via CalDAV works fine.
    Calendar server: SOGo (http://www.sogo.nu/english.html)
    Phone: 3GS with iOS 4

The "All Events" hack no longer works for SOGo in iOS 4. I found the reference to making it work on 3.1.2:

  • CalDAV invitations not showing up in iOS calendar

I'm trying to get my CalDAV based calendar invitations to show up in the iOS calendar. For some reason, iOS Mail doesn't recognize them them as invites in my inbox. I'm using two separate CalDAV calendars here, one is coming from Google, the other from my private CalDAV server. Both accounts are syncing just fine, but invitations sent via email do not get recognized and aren't ending up in the calendar inbox.
I'm missing meetings because of this, is there any way to fix this?

Oh? May I ask what it was and perhaps how it was fixed?
I am running into the same problem.
    Thanks!

  • Alerts disappear when an appointment is accepted in Calendar app

Ive had this problem a few weeks. I always make an alert for 30 minutes before an appointment in the Calender app iOS5 on my IPod touch. I also send an invite to someone to join me for that appointment. When they accept the appointment the alert changes to none. I have checked this several times. This means the alarm I have set doesn't sound and I miss the appointment. Please can someone check that this happens to them as well.

On the iPhone, I set up my Google Account to use Exchange, as seen in the google help doc about it:
    http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252
If you have multiple calendars, you may need to enable the other ones by going to m.google.com on your phone in Safari and then clicking the Sync button, then it will have you log in with your gmail account.  Once you are logged in, you can choose your iPhone and pick which calendars to sync.
On iCal on the Mac, you can set up your calendars using CalDav by going into the Preferences--> Accounts, then click the + icon at the bottom and choose Gmail from the pull down list, then enter your account info.
To show any additional calendars on there, you would want to choose your acount in the preferences, and choose Delegates and enable whatever other calendars you need.
If you don't like the CalDav syncing on iCal (on the mac), you can also look at SpanningSync.  It does a very good job of syncing your google calendars and contacts with your mac.
The exchange setup on the iPhone and iPad works perfectly for me though, so I didn't need any special software to do it, just the right setup.
One tip, let the calendar/contacts FINISH syncing before you try to add or make changes.. you'll get errors and stuff if you aren't patient with it.  When I first open iCal, I sometimes have to wait a little bit before the spinning icon stops next to the calendar before it's safe to enter in new appointments. I will occasionally leave iCal up all day if I know I'll need to add and change a lot of appointments.

  • IOS Calendar Continuous Alert/Reminder until acknowledge?

Hey all, I've been trying to figure out how to get a more robust calendar app on iOS. The default app is just weak and crippled. Is there any 3rd party apps that will allow the appointment to continue to ring/buzz every X minutes until I acknowledge it? I have found apps that can allow me to sync with my Google Calendar (must-have for me...), but I have yet to find one that can repeatedly alert me until I actually view the appoint.
I've been using the iPhone for the past 2 weeks. I came from the Android ecosystem. I'll admit, as sleek and as user-friendly iOS is... there are certainly things that Android is way better at... Yes there are 3rd party solution at times, but more often than not, it'll cost ya. With Android, there are almost always free alternatives. But like people say to me... you gotta pay to play.
    Please advise!
    Thanks!

Hi, the only one I've come across is fortunately a great app, designed well with tons of common sense functionality lacking in the pathetic iOS calendar. Unfortunately it is $3, of the 200 apps I own, only 3 of them aren't free, and the $3 is more than worth it since it is critical functionality as well as a great app design.
It is called CalAlarm (Calendar Alarm) by DevArt in the app store. It supports syncing with multiple calendars, like from Google, Exchange, Outlook, 'internet' calendars like US holidays - actually the synching is through the iOS iCalendar, but then in CalAlarm you can exclude specific calendars if desired.
In addition to true repeat alarm until acknowledged (Every minute - developers say Apple iOS prevents user defined like repeat every 5 minutes), the alarms have Snoozes once you acknowledge that include snoozes of 1-3-5-10-15-20-30-45-60-90 minutes and 2h-3h-4h hours not to mention user custom snoozes like whatever you want, any minutes from 1-15 then 5 minutes increments out to hours and days for the snooze, for instance 12 minutes or 1 day 3 hours and 25 minutes snooze just to illustrate functionality, if you mind works that way...
Alert settings prior to event time are similar and can be customized as described for Snoozes, and you can set alarms for as many as 10 alarms prior to event (Although I believe I saw that Exchange for instance has its own limit of 2 possibly, so limitations may come from type of calendar syncing with) - like 1 day, 12 hours, 6 hours, 45min, 30min, 15 min, custom 12 minutes, 5 minutes, time of event.  Yes, all separate from the Snooze function while acknowledging the alarm.
Check it out in the app store and their web site. Don't work for them, don't know them, blah blah blah. Enjoy!

  • Purchased ringtones and alerts disappeared after updating to iOS 8.2

since updating to iOS 8.2 purchased alert tones and ringtones have disappeared and following the restore times link does not restore them. Also, cannot update any apps from the App Store. How do I get back my purchased ringtones and alert tones?

    Greetings EmmsieK13,
It sounds like you were trying to connect to the App Store when there were some system issues.
You can check the status at
Apple - Support - System Status
Note you can scroll back on the Detailed Timeline by clicking the back button to see some previous days.
Since the systems show they are up now, please try again and see this article for restoring your alert tones and ringtone purchases.

  • IOS Calendar Synch Issue with Google - iOS 8.1.3

I upgraded to iOS 8.1.3 a few days ago, and since then, am finding that my iPhone is not synching properly with changes to my Google calendar made on other devices. Opening iOS calendar presents me with the spinning wheel for several minutes. To rectify the problem, I have to reboot or shut down the device entirely. When it comes back on, everything works fine.
If this happened just once, I would have chocked it up to an anomaly. However, the behavior I described just happened for the second time in three days. First time was on LTE and this morning while my device was on my home FiOS WiFi.
Nothing else appears awry, and upon reboot via a "soft" shut-down or hard reboot, calendar functions return to normal.
    Appreciate some input ....
    Many thanks.
    - David

I Found if I do a soft reset it triggers my phone to start working though it lasts for 20-30 minutes and resorts back to issue again. I've also noticed AirPlay no longer functions properly which I realized after I updated my iPad to 8.1.3 which I regularly used for AirPlay so I tried it on my iPhone and it didn't work as well I tried it on my wife's iPhone and hers no longer works either. Wow! Disappointed to say the least. I know I can't be the only one frustrated with these 8+ updates as I've read it seems to be ongoing with thousands of others reporting online. It's not just the hard earned money spent on Apple products though when life becomes dependent upon using the products it seriously interfere with use

  • Ios 7 calendar not synchronizing alerts with Calendar

Hi Folks. I recently moved to Mavericks and I've noticed that when I create an alert on the iPhone and then sync with my Mac, the event itself shows up in calendar, but its alert is replaced with the calendar default (15 minutes in my case). Sync'ing events created on the mac works correctly: the events show up on the iPhone with the alerts preserved. Any help would be much appreciated! Versions: iOS 7, iPhone 4S, Mac OS 10.9.5, Calendar 7.0.

I totally agree with you bigflea. The previous calendar was so much better. The facility for scrolling the pages day by day was brilliant and other features were better too. It's a backward step in my view.... Very disappointing. Come on 'apple' please review this and change it back to what we like best!

  • How to set up iOS calendar app with shared Google Calendar data

At work (in our small office) I've been given access to the shared Google Calendar that has our work schedule. It was set up using this page (click on Share an existing calendar):
    https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/37082
The question I have is how to set it up to work with iOS calendar app on my iPhone?

"currently there is no shared group calendar support."
Well, not really. You hinted at it with: "set up a group wiki."
Go into Workgroup Manager and set up an Open Directory group. Add people to it.
Each client must then go into iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts and add an account. The name and password entered must be the same as that added to the group, Kerberos must be unchecked, and the account URL will be like (fill in the blanks properly):
    http://<your domain name here>:8008/principals/groups/<your group name here>/
Now each properly logged in user of that group can make changes to the shared group calendar, without any "hacks" like making dummy users and delegation.
However, I am getting a notifier: "Request Error: Accesss to <event name> in <your group name here> in account <your group name here> is not permitted." But that seems to be a lie, since multiple members of the group can make changes and others can see the changes.
Oh yea, make sure you have a functioning DNS with valid reverse lookup.

  • How to sync Google calendar busy/free-time with iOS calendars?

A friend and I want to share our busy / free-time. We've successfully set it up and sharing, and sharing works fine on our PC / Mac laptops via Outlook and iCal respectively. Same goes for webcal. While my friend who has an Android phone can also see my busy / free-time on his phone's calendar application, I cannot select his calendar for syncing to my iOS calendar via "https://www.google.com/calendar/syncselect". When my friend's calendar security is set to "share busy / free-time only", his calendar shows up on my calendar list on the syncselect page as not available for syncing. When he shares his detailed view, I can select it for syncing.
Is there a work-around so that I can see his busy / free-time on my iOS calendar just like I see it on my Mac iCal and on web-calendar? Appreciate input here ... Thank you.

I'm afraid that isn't possible.  iCloud will not sync your Google calendar and Google will not sync your iCloud calendar.  They are entirely separate systems.  If you want to sync your Google calendar with your devices, add your Gmail account to them (Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>Google) and turn Calendar on.  Your Google calendar will then appear alongside your iCloud calendar in the Calendars app on your devices.

  • Reminders alerts disappear from lock screen

Hi, I'm facing problem with reminders alerts on lockscreen (iPhone 5, ios 8.1.2) Alert stays approx. 15 minutes on the lock screen and suddenly disappears. This happens only for Reminders, other alerts such a missed calls or messages are fine. It drive me crazy. For example when I leave phone and come back in one hour, I can't see missed reminders alerts, because they  already disappeared. I tried disconnect from iCloud (synchronized reminders with Mac book air), reset iPhone settings, completely reset iPhone and install from scratch. But this problem remains. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you very much!!!

Meanwhile I found that mentioned problem occurs only when I fetch emails or calendar via gmail account etc... So after email or calendar  synchronization is fetched on the background (each 15 mnts in my case), reminder alert disappear from then lock screen. If I set manual fetch, reminders lock screen alerts persist fine. I checked out the same behavior on my wife's iPhone, so I assume it is iOS 8.1.2 bug. Does anybody have such  issue?

  • ICal Google CalDav to MobileMe and iPad Synch dis-connect.  HELP?

I recently added a Google CalDav account, so my iCal would synch with my new Android device. That part works fine. He is my question: iCal events using this Google account will NOT synch with either my iPad OR MobileMe.
    What gives?

I think the answers are partly already in your question...
MobileMe has the important limitation that you either sync all calendars, or none. So, you are not going to be able to sync some of the calendars using one MobileMe account, and the others using another account. However, I can see two workarounds:
    1) Use MobileMe to sync your work calendars, and Google to sync your personal calendars, or vice-versa.
    2) If you really want to only use MobileMe, you could create two user accounts on your personal Mac, one for each MobileMe account. Your personal user account would only have your personal calendars, and your work user account would only have your work calendars. If you still wanted to be able to display your work calendars on your personal user account, you could publish the work calendars to the work iDisk (using the procedure in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2071 to password-protect them) and subscribe to them on your personal user account. But, as you pointed out, you would not be able to edit them; you would have to switch to the work user account to make changes to the work calendars.
    Hope this solves your problem
    P.S.: I have 12 calendars, so I win

  • Calendar travel time alerts syncing wrong...

Calendar Alerts that I set up on my Macbook Pro are not sinking properly with the Calendar App on my iOS devices. For instance: If my travel time is 54 minutes and I set-up an alert for 1 hour before my travel time on my MacBook Pro, then my iOS calendar alert syncs the alert for 1 hour and 54 minutes before my travel time.

  • ICal+iPhone Calendar+Google Calendar and mobile me

I have an iPhone 3g 2.1.... i am running the most recent version of Mac OSX and i have the newest iCal installed on my mac... My google calendar syncs with iCal through CalDAV. I also have Mobileme and it syncs with iCal. I want to be able to have a sync between iCal,Google Calendars and iPhone. I thought this would work with Mobileme. When i set up my calendar and google calendar it creates a different calendar.... I need the same calendar synced between all three..

IE: you don't have to sync your iphone with your computer. Instead, when you edit or add an event in your google calendar it will automatically update your iphone's calendar over the cell network, without you doing anything. Also, if you add or edit an event on your iphone's calendar, it will automatically update your google calendar as well. That way, you don't have to mess with ical. Just use google calendar and your iphone's calendar.
Since you've already got your iCal synching with your google calendar via CalDAV, your iCal will come along for the ride.
Thus, you can do all this for free, without mobileme, and without even having to plug your iphone into your computer to synch it.
Go to this website to check out Nuevasync. http://www.nuevasync.com/ You have to sign up for a free account, but it doesn't take long and they won't spam you or anything. Then go to "device setup instructions" and It will tell you how to set it up on your iphone. I've been using it for about 3 months now and it works great. (I don't work for them or anything, just love their service!)

I've considered using NuevaSync, but it looks like it will use my gmail contacts instead of address book? Is this true? I'd prefer to keep the address book.
Honestly, If I was able to edit calendars that I have synced with iCal from Google through CalDav(CalDev?) I'd be fine, (Right now iCal syncs with Google and my iPhone synce with iCal), but when I add an event on the iPhone, it doesn't allow me to edit any of the synced calendars. I can only edit a separate, unsynced calendar. Does anyone have any idea how to edit a synced calendar?

  • Recurring event times wrong by 1 hr only in iOS calendar

I just noticed that all my recurring events seemt to be one hour later in the Calendar app on my iPhone (iOS 5.1). In the iCloud calendar (on the web site) the times are correct.  I don't know if this happened right after the recent "spring forward" daylight savings time change, or right after the update to iOS 5.1.
All my other events are showing the correct time. Only the recurring events are shifted one hour to the future in the iOS calendar.
Is anyone else seeing this problem? Any ideas for a fix?
(And, before you ask, my iPhone has the correct time zone setting and is configured to automatically set the time; and I haven't left my timezone in over two months.)
    Dave Hein

I found the problem. When the tasks were initially created, I did not have Time Zone Support turn on in iCloud (the website) or on my iPhone or in iCal on my Mac.  The events were all created over the winter, not during daylight savings time.
I turned on Time Zone support in iCloud, on my iPhone, and in iCal. That did not fix the problem. But I noticed that, in iCloud, when I turned on Time Zone support, the initial time zone it selected was "Central Standard Time".  But I'm now in Central Daylight Time; so I tried setting the time zone (using the little popup map widget is tricky!) and found I could also set the Time Zone to "Central Time" -- no 'daylight' or 'standard' distinction. So I set it to Central Time.
Still no joy.  But then, still in iCloud Calendar, I double clicked on one of the offending events and in the set of properties display was now a Time Zone property ... and it was still set to Central Standard Time.  So I went into each event that was at the wrong time and changed the time zone from Central Standard Time to Central Time.
My guess it that "Central Time" is a time zone designation that means it will automatically switch between standard time and daylight savings time.
So, everything is working again. Hope this helps someone.
