IOS iPad update to 7.1.2 freezes device problem

iOS 7.1.2 update hangs my iPad 3. Can anyone assist me pls. I updated whilst the iPad was plugged into and using iTunes on my Windows 8.1 laptop. The detailL I updated my iPad 3 to iOS 7.1.2 (before I saw all the buggy articles). The device froze with an image of a cable plugged into iTunes on its screen and iTunes (on my Windows 8.1 laptop) gave an error message that the device is frozen. I read multiple articles but none works, i.e. i tried to reboot the device by holding down home and power until apple logo re-appear. No joy - the device reboots but comes back to the same cable image. I tried multiple times - same result. I tried to hold down the home button whilst plugging into my laptop usb, hoping that iTunes would pick up the device and repair it - also no joy - iTunes does not pick up the device. Wow - can anyone assist me further than that - would be appreciated..!

Your iPad is in recovery mode and has to be restored, Using the home and sleep buttons to reset the device are not going to help now. Take a look at this for the instructions that you need.

Is an iOS 8 update downloaded in iTunes for one device applicable to other devices?

I am updating to iOS 8 and have many iOS devices. If I download an update for one in iTunes, can I also use that download for the other devices or I have to download an update for each device? Thanks.

IIf all of your devices are the same, you don't. But even iPhone 5s with different carrier may need different software.

Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down together until you see the Apple Logo.
Note: Data will not be affected.

That album, My Photo Stream, is no longer used.
Instead, look in "Recently Added" within Albums, and also within Photos in the various timescale views. Both places should contain photos taken by any of your devices.

I was having the same problem, I backed up my phone and then updated to iOS 5 and then it kept telling me it could not restore from my backup as it had failed. After reading a bunch of forums and posts and trying everything, I did manage to get it to work. I had tried the Time zone, creating a new computer user account, disabling anti-virus, etc.
It took a combination of things, one of which was disabling the anti-virus completely and copying the contents of the backup folder to my desktop and then deleting everything in the backup folder. Then I rebooted the PC, entirely disabled the anti-virus, copied the one backup I wanted to restore from the desktop to the backup folder and then trying to restore. Low and behold the phone said restoring from backup and I am back in business, so when in doubt, trying combining some of the fixes together.

My iphoto freezes when trying to use the standard eBay photo upload, the problem started after a recent iOS 7 update. The album photos don't appear until I try and close the upload and immediately freezes. Attempts to close iphoto fail.

A week or so ago I reacted to an Apple update message. The update completed and this left me with a couple of problems. When the imac started up there was a Glims message on screen telling me that the computer had not closed entirely and asking if I wanted to allow glims to reopen previously open files. I ticked yes and Safari froze immediately. This would happen even after a restart, Safari would start up with the Glims message on my Yahoo mail account. Then whether I clicked on the Glims message or not one of various adverts would appear and Safari would immediately freeze. I managed to override this by quickly entering Safari extensions and subscribing to an advertisement blocking programme. Safari now worked without problems but the blocking programme created other problems mostly with iphoto. The eBay uploaded photos were minute. So I decided to remove the Safari blocking extension and all seemed fine for everything except iphoto which now freezes every time I try to upload eBay photo's using the eBay standard upload problem. Yesterday I changed to the other BASIC upload option and that did work. Thought it might be a one of glitch on the Standard but obviously not. Anyone's help would be appreciated. I note that at least one other member is experiencing the same or similar problem today.

Sorry I am 70 and not very computer literate. Please explain in simpler terms. Perhaps I should have said Apple update for my iMac. It did however include an iphoto update. My imac is 3 years old, I also have an ipad 2 and iPhone and both received iOS 7 updates around the same time.

IPad problems since iOS 8 update

Since updating our 2 iPad 2's to iOS 8.0.2 we have experienced a number of operating problems. After a while we loose the cellular network and have to reboot. They are sluggish and stutter when shifting from screen to screen, they freeze up, and generally operate like they have a virus or have run out of memory. I also now have unwanted and unasked for aps that magically appeared after the upgrade. Downloading of Aps should be my choice and not theirs...If Apple is going to provide updates it would be a good idea if they tested it on all the products they plan to push it out to. Seems like they missed the iPad 2. I would love to go back to when my iPad really worked....

First, keep your iOS iPad software up todate.
Tap Settings > General > Software Update. The iOS 8.1 update should be available.
When you post for help, just saying, "4th generation has not worked properly", doesn't give us much to go on for advice for troubleshooting.
Please reply with specific details.

The IOS 8 update on my Ipad has repeatedly frozen my iPad and caused me endless loss of work and grief.

Should I just finally throw in the towel and stop spending more money on Apple Products for defectiveness? I have had to replace iPods because Apple wants to charge me the same price for a replacement battery as the price of the ipod, the battery only lasts one year. Yet, I have bought hundreds of itune songs. They don't care, they want to charge me for outrageous battery replacement prices. The adapter cords start wearing out on my iPad within weeks of useage, thus requiring me to buy more replacements for them. Now, the IOS 8 update has caused my Ipad 2 to freeze over and over, causing me to lose stuff I was working on. Why are Apple products so bad when it comes to quality and they treat us like open wallets when it comes to the way they treat us when it is the company's fault. Microsoft has never treated me like this when it comes to their product defects and replacements.

IOS 8.1.1 Even Worse Than IOS 8.1 For IPad - There is simply no end to the catastrophe that Apple has created for my IPad 2 and for thousands of other folks as well with the IOS 7, and now IOS 8.1 and today, IOS 8.1.1. Now, my photo album is completely frozen and Safari freezes constantly and as done nearly every other app. Firstly, there should not be these kind of breakdowns in a $500 device that is not even two years old, much less ALL of the problems are being created by the defective system updates being released by the manufacturer of the product, Apple. Apple should be forced to buy new devices for all of us who now have unusable devices due to product defects being created by Apple. It is highly, highly unlikely that I will ever buy another expensibe Apple product and their refusal to fix the mess they have caused me borders on violations of Fair Trade Laws. What a shame Apple has done this to me and other long term Apple customers. A real shame! I am warning every friend I can not to buy any new Apple products. Try a Reboot pess & hold power button & menu button hold both down until you see Apple Logo you will not lose any data This may help but the ipad 2 is a bit under powered for iOS 8 If you can a very good buy now is the iPad Air 32G Since they brought the new one out the price for this model Has come down by £120.00 That's the one I am using and it works great on iOS 8.1 Bsydd uk

Similar problem too with iPad 2. After updating it just continues to search and won't connect to 3G (verizon). I spent 5 hours at the local apple store and they couldn't solve the problem. There was another person there too with the exact same problem with an iPad 2 and they couldn't fix it either.
After all of this time they had no solution except to buy a new iPad ....... unbelievable. The issue is not a coincidence and it is obviously due to the software update. Apple's arrogance to openly address and fix the issue is astounding. Very poor customer service for a company that is supposed to be so progressive.
