You probably should not be using a keyboard bluetooth profile for a scanner, I am not a developer for apple so do not know the location for you to find out the correct profile you should be using for an input device that is not a keyboard. Sorry,

Is there a way to share IOS keyboard shortcuts between devices? Although I use Text Expander on Lion and it is great, I think it would be very useful if Apple allowed syncing of keyboard shortcuts between the Mac and IOS devices via iCloud. It would be great to set these up on the Mac and have them available on both my iPad and iPhone.

IOS keyboard quotation marks

I've been wondering about this for a while and now that iOS 8 made some leaps with the keyboard, hopefully what I want is now possible. Fair warning this is rather specific.
The default quote marks on iOS look like this: "quote."
But if possible, I want the default quote marks to be these “quote.” with the little tails on them. To get them now, I have to hold the quote mark key and slide over from the pop up menu to get the marks I want on the onscreen keyboard. In short, I want the same style quote marks you get from typing on a computer. You type, hit shift and the quote key, and the marks are oriented up or down based on the beginning of end of the quote. I also like to use an external bluetooth keyboard and tapping and holding the quote key on the external keyboard doesn't bring up the shortcut menu to get the quote marks I want. Just does this: '''''''''''
Is there any way to accomplish what I want? Is there another keyboard that I can set as default that has the “ ” marks I seek? Will that cause the exerternal keyboard to render the marks I want as well? Is there as shortcut similar to tapping the shift key on a regualr computer keyboard?
I've tried on my own to see if I can settle this but everything comes back to needing up the menu under the one quotation key, which is very annoying.
Any advice is appreciated.

What you are asking for was called “smart quotes” — an option with some of the earliest versions of MacOS, way back in the mid-1980s.

IOS keyboard language

Why doesn't iOS 8 keep track of which language is used for each particular message thread? The keyboard selection is global; if you are in a thread using the Portuguese keyboard (e.g., exchanging texts with my Portuguese cousin), Portuguese remains the keyboard if you switch to a different thread (e.g., answer a message from an American cousin).
It'd be nice if the keyboard selection stuck with the thread, not the global Messages app.

IOS keyboard space key is very insensitive.

What is wrong with the keyboard on iOS. after the update, the space key is very insensitive. I typed 10 times it may accept only half of the times.

I am not experiencing any issues. What version of the iPhone are you using, and are you referring to the iOS 8.2 update? What troubleshooting have you tried?

Apple's new dark iOS keyboard

I've been testing new keyboards in Pages, but found I preferred Apple's default keyboard and its key sounds. I only wish they had a dark version. I hit the Home button 3 times (by mistake) when trying to check data in another app. This gave me an inverse of the screen. The keyboard was now a dark keyboard and my pages document black with white type. I found this is much easier on my eyes when I type lots of text, at night. I go back to the normal screen when I need to work with colors, photos, etc. So, for now that's my new keyboard. Hope this is something that someone else can use.

The other thing that folks would need to know is that they need to go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Accessibility Shortcut (at the bottom of the screen), and then they need to check "Invert Colors" for the shortcut, which will assign the triple-click on the Home button to toggle the inverted colors with the normal display.

It hasn't since the original iPhone was released in the summer of 2007 so I wouldn't count on it.

How can I fix the UI of the caps-lock on the iOS keyboard NOT to be inverted?

Is there a setting to make the caps lock the colors a user would expect it to be? The current default is backwards and VERY frustration and confusing. If the keyboard is all white the caps-lock should be white when not activated. (Realistically though it seems like a really terrible UI problem that was overlooked during QA...)
To all users I typed "using iPhone" into that annouing text box below that will tell you "you cannot post content..." to everything you type in for the first 50 tries. That's the secret code I guess.

Hmm. Ok, that will temporarily fix it for me. My complaint is more global scope however. Specifically why would they do this? This is Apple making very odd, undeniably backwards and confusing UI decisions. As a developer I'm baffled that they didn't notice or deliberately did this. I have to stop and think at every capital letter I type when I'm on my phone these days. So maybe I'll try a more UI oriented keyboard color in the meantime until Apple tries to type on their keyboard and notice they keep switching the lowercase and capital letters.

Will Apple ever put left and right arrows on the iOS keyboard?

Sometimes when I want to go back and fix a typing mistake or to copy certain words, it is a hassle to select the intended area. So I think it would be great if there were left and right arrow keys, or something like holding down one of the existing keys and moving to the left and right to move the cursor. I think that the space bar could work for that, maybe something like holding down the shift(up arrow) key and sliding left and right on the space bar.

Ios 8 landscape keyboard texting numbers

When I am typing in landscape in a text message, and type a number, why does it not switch back to letters? Instead it stays on numbers making you tap it a 2nd time. Is there a way to change this?
Also the landscape keyboard in messages is terrible. The actual letters are smaller than typing portrait, hopefully a keyboard comes out where you can actually move keys.

Keyboard won't react when in landscape mode on SMS?

Hi There.
I updated my 5S to the IOS8.
After that, I had problems when writing an SMS. Sometimes (almost every time) the keyboard doesn’t react to anything when turning to landscape mode. I then have to turn the phone upright, and the down to landscape again. The screen then goes black, and I can press the home-button to see the screen again.
I actually thought this was a bug in IOS8 since it appeared after the update.
Now I bought the IPhone 6. And I set that up with the complete backup from my 5S. I then updated to IOS 8.0.2, and the problem is also on my IP6
I can’t find anyone else with this problem, so what can I do now?
Is the only solution to reset the IP6 to factory default, and install sms, and contacts via iCloud?
But then I have to install all the apps manually?
I have a lot of apps with personal settings, and different mail accounts. I really don’t want to do all this.
Anyone have a solution?

How can I type the sq ft symbol in iOS?

I cannot locate anywhere on the iOS keyboard the small "2" symbol to denote square footage next to and above "ft". Oddly, if you dictate to the phone say "5000 square feet" it WILL insert the symbol, so it MUST be possible to type it somehow, I just have not been able to find it. Any help from the community would be MUCH appreciated. Thank you!

It can done, for example, square meters=m².
It requires either creating shortcuts like ^2=²
Or creating a template using word or another word processor that can create superscripts and using that to create a template for the iPad Pages app.
