IOS Software Update?

I am currious how those of you using ZMM are taking care of specifically iOS updates. I haven't been able to find anything in ZMM to push or force the iOS update. I have tried to send the end user e-mails pleading with them to move to a specific version. That has only helped with a few of them but most have ignored the request.
The other area of frustration that I am seeing issues with is if the end user doesn't open and leave running the ZENworks app on the device I will not get current sync for ZMM. Did I miss the policy that forces this process to run without being launched. I am sorry but most of my end users are lazy and don't care about keeping a specific app launched.

With the iOS issue. I would be happy for a prompt to the end user to do so once per day. I am wondering if that could be programmed into the product.
As for the sync question. I have been playing around with this and have noticed that I am not getting the sync to occur unless the app is launched. But I also noticed that even though I have a SSL cert and a signed APN cert that my profiles still show "Not verified". There is another post on this. Unfortunately being part of a school system, I am limited on my ability to start SR's. Novell's SR's are just to expensive for the district to pay into. I was hoping someone might be able to provide a lead into this.
If this isn't what is causing the sync not to occur or if I am getting the wrong impression then let me know that. I close all apps when they are not going to be used. I am going to experiment with my phone and see if opening the app and letting it stay running will help. Again being in a school system, most of my end users are not going to launch ZENworks once a day or ensure it is running. Right now there isn't anything in it for them so it just will not occur.
Thanks for the assistance.

  • HT4554 How big of download is the new 5.1 IOS software update?

How big of download is the new 5.1 IOS software update?

It depends on the device but for an iPod Touch for instance, it is about 180 MB.

  • Ipad2 will freezes when downloading the new ios software update

ipad2 will freezes when downloading the new ios software update.  When i hold the Base Button and Sleep button together it just does the same thing.  Tried to plug it in directly to my iMAC and it says it can't help me b/c I have a passcode lock.  Any solutions?

We don't know, and no one will know until Apple has announced it. Furthermore, speculation is forbidden here.

  • HT4623 No ios software update notifications

I use to receive ios software update notification badges with ios 6.  I no longer receive them with ios 7.  I never know software updates are available until someone tells me.  Is there a way to enable ios update notifications?  I have an iPhone 5 with Verizon.

If you do not connect the device to power and wifi at the same time, then you might not. But if you had power and wifi at the same time, it should have recognized the notification. But if you go open Settings, it should prompt it. There is no setting in Notification Center to set for Software update.

  • Unused iOS software updates

If your iPad consumed memory to download iOS software updates that you never actually installed on the device, will the total memory from the unused updates be returned to your iPad once you decide to install the iOS update you like? E.g. you choose not to install iOS 8.0, 8.0.1 and 8.1, but you install 8.1.2 instead. Will the total memory value of those past three iOS updates be restored to your iPAD?

Well, when I first got an offer to download iOS 7.0, i saw that it was over 1 GB worth of memory. I also turned down iOS 7.0.1, which was a smaller file (about 100 MB) but still too big for me. So I downloaded iOS 7.1 instead (this was about 60 MB). Would my iPad only store 7.1 (60 MB memory) and not the others (1.1 GB memory for both)? You see, The unused updates disappeared, but they still lowered the storage space of my iPad even though I never selected them to update my iPad's software. I need to know if the iPad permanently consumes memory equal to the size of the iOS update that you choose to install, and gives back the memory of the others that you didn't install. That's my problem.

  • IOS Software Update - No Notification or Automatic Download

As of today, it has been 11 days since iOS 8.2 has been released and I still have not received an iOS Software Update Notification on my iPhone 6 Plus nor has iOS 8.2 automatically downloaded like it had on my other iOS devices. I knew iOS 8.2 was out, but, I like to wait a bit to install just in case bugs are revealed by early adopters. I had to manually check for the iOS 8.2 Update on my 6 Plus.
So, I'm curious why I did not receive an iOS Software Update Notification/Automatic Download?  I have noticed previously, on other iOS devices, that the number of days between and an iOS release and the iOS Software Update Notification/Automatic Download is not consistent. I understand that you have to be connected to a power source and on wifi for this feature, which obviously is one variable, but, 11 days??? The 6 plus battery life IS AWESOME, but, not that awesome. I have definitely charged my phone and have been on wifi a couple of times since the iOS 8.2 release.
    Any ideas? Just curious.
    Thank you.

These are all carrier feature, call your phone carrier to resolve the issue.

  • IPhone 4 IOS software update

I was asked to update my IOS software on my iPhone 4, and now it is giving me no other option than to plug it into iTunes and restore it, I dont want to lose everything, is there anything I can do?! Please help!

The next thing to check is your router. It may be blocking the port needed to access the Apple servers. Check that ports 80 and 443 are not blocked. Your ISP may also be blocking access to the Apple servers. Verify that you can ping albert.apple.com and/or phobos.apple.com.
Also, an invalid TcpWindowSize entry in the Windows registry can cause problems. run Regedit and search for TcpWindowSize; if the entry exists this might be the problem. Export the entry and delete it, then try again. If this fixes it after updating be sure to reload the entry (by double-clicking the .reg file that you saved it to).

  • How to delete a partial ios software update ?

As we all know, ios 7 requires 3.1 GB free to download/ install.
after deleting tons of stuff, I made 3.2 GB free and the ios 7 download commenced OTA
as time went on, the download speed steadilly decreased so,after 1.5 hours, it was only 1/4 way downloaded and I had to go to work. as i left the house i lost wifi connection but figured it would just resume when i returned home.
Now that I am home, the download still shows that its 1/4 through, but it says that i have to make 3.1GB free! The partial download has obviously taken up space, but theres nothing left to delete-  I need everything thats left.
my question is- how do i delete this partially downloaded software update, so that 3.1GB will be free again? I have toggling airplane mode on and off again and also tried a hard reset, but the partial download still remains and is still taking up space. I looked in itunes app on the phone and checked downloads, but theres nothing there; prob because its not a music download
    thanks

I should have said that there is now 2.8GB free, so the update must be 300Mb. I dont have enough rubbish to delete in order to gain 300Mb, which is why I need to delete the partial software download

  • Not getting any iOS software updates notification

my friends' iPhone 5 notify them whenever there is a software update on the lock screen but mine does not. I only know there is an update if i go to setting>general>software update manually or from friends. HELP! (for iOS 6.1.2)

    GARYLEWIS,
unfortunately Apple is not particularly communicative as to when they stop supporting a particular version of OS X. It seems as though support for Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) has ended, but without word from on high in Cupertino, one can’t be absolutely sure. If you’re concerned about the lack of security updates, then you should upgrade to a newer version of OS X, either Lion (Mac OS X 10.7, $20), Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8, $20), or Mavericks (OS X 10.9, gratis), through the Mac App Store.

  • How can I cancel the iOS software update?

For some reason, iOS 6 has decided to download on my iPod Touch through WiFi. I didn't request it, nothing is set to automatically update in the Touch settings, or iTunes. It seemed to start downloading when I  synced the Touch. I've disconnected the Touch from WiFi temporarily. How can I cancel the download, or will there be an option when it's done downloading to cancel the install?
    Thanks for any help...

I had the SAME problem & it was incredibly frustrating.  Having WiFi disabled for days caused me to eat up A LOT of my data plan.  It is total BS that there is no way to cancel an OTA download.  And it is total BS that no one can get ANY help on this issue.  There should be a way to cancel or at least downgrade if you don't like the newest iOS.
So, since Apple won't let you downgrade if you went ahead & installed it, and Apple won't help AT ALL if you don't want iOS 6, I had to figure it out myself.  Here's what I did....
The stupid iOS 6 update that nobody wants needs a certain amount of free space in order to download & install.  I had started the download & disabled WiFi like you did, so the download was paused.  While it was paused, I set my video camera to record & it sat there & recorded for like 2.5 hours (ugh) before it finally took up all the space on my phone.  Then, I went back in & enabled WiFi & checked the piece of junk iOS 6 install & it now said it couldn't download b/c there wasn't enough space.
I figured this solution still s ucks b/c now I can't download any apps or take any more pics or vids.  About 30 minutes later, though, I went back to the horrible iOS 6 download & a message popped up saying there wasn't enough space.  When I hit "OK" or whatever to clear the message, the screen had reset & gone back to the "download & install" button.  FINALLY I was able to stop the download & installation of iOS 6.  THANK GOD.  I want nothing to do with it, and there is NO WAY Apple is taking my Google Maps or YouTube.

  • Why can't I find/access my recent downloads and imessage with the new IOS software update?

I just recently updated my phone to the new IOS 7 software. I had to do this using my computer. It updated ok but now when I try to find apps that I downloaded (from the computer again) I am unable to locate them. I did find one app that was downloaded but when I click install nothing seems to be happening. I have turned the phone off and on several times hoping it would reset but nothing. I am also unable to access imessage for some reason. Help!!!

You can't update your iPad past iOS 5.1.1
Many iPad 1 owners reported slow downs with iOS 5.
Under the Settings app, General category under About, how much storage capacity does your iPad have left?
You could try a hard restart or reset by holding down the sleep/on-off button and home button simultaneously.
Once the screen goes black, wait about two seconds, then let both buttons go.
    See if this changes anything.
    Good Luck!
