IOS update deleted apps

Today I updated my Ipod touch 3rd generation 8GB. Recently I had bought a few apps including Angry Birds and Cat Physics (both great games!) After syncing my ipod, backing it up twice and installing the update I put all of my apps and songs back on it. I then went to play those games and they were no longer on my ipod or macbook i decided to look for the receipt for these it is was in my inbox, so i do have proof of buying these apps. I don't know how to get these back without buying them again!
please help!
P.S. i also noticed that my notes weren't saved and my progress in other games were not saved! HELP!

You can simply download them again using the same iTunes Store account that you used to get them the first time. There will not be a charge for downloading an app that you already paid for before. The key here is using the same account in iTunes Store.
More than likely your notes and previous data on games is probably lost for good. I have seen several posts on this subject since the iOS 4 update and have yet to see a satisfactory method of recovering this data after the update.

iTunes wishes to update deleted apps, they are no where to be found on my iPhone and seem invisible on iTunes, when I 'check for available downloads' they will ALWAYS appear and try to download, I pause them then delete them but they always come back, without fail.
Does anyone have any ideas? Before i say goodbye to crapple and go to android.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

I Want to update to ios 8 but i don't want to delete my apps and all data.

A successful OTA update does not delete anything. However, occasionally a glitch occurs and you have to connect to iTunes and restore your iPod. Thus, make sure you backup before each iOS update.

It would be nice if Apple included a ' Warning! Back up your phone before update or all apps will be deleted.' Some of us are not remotely tech savvy & think an Apple pop-up that says 'ready to update iphone with new software?' means all is well to proceed. Apps do not get deleted when updating the device, where did you come up with that misconception?
Update Process:
Device is backed up to iTunes
Device is updated and put into a "like new" state
Device is restored from previously created backup putting everything back exactly as it was prior to the update.
The process is slightly different if running iOS5 and updating directly on the device.

2.0.1 Update Deleted App Recognition

After spending 6 hours updating my original iPhone to system 2.0.1 and restoring multiple times today, all of my purchased apps are no longer recognized as installed by the App Store. When I open the description for Day Bank, for example, it lists the price rather than saying "Installed" as it did before the update. When I try to download again, the App Store tells me that it is already installed.
Will I be able to update through the iPhone, rather than the desktop iTunes, under this new configuration? Will I be notified of app updates on the iPhone given that my purchased apps are not listed as "installed"? I prefer to update apps from iPhone so that my expenses and to do lists are not deleted on each update, as some have reported happening when updating from iTunes.
As a side note, this is the last time I will update my iPhone operating system because the hassle is not worth it.

I solved the problem by myself and wanted to share the method with everyone:
I suspected that there was some corrupt data on my device and thought the most likely candidates were either the saved photos or some of the applications that saved data on the iPod (e.g., the news apps or the ToDo App). I started off by deleting the photos, rebooting and backing up. This didn't work.
Then I went ahead and deleted the applications I described above. I found that deleting all the applications at once didn't work. I had to delete them one at a time and rebooting after each delete (uninstall). I tried backing up after this step and things worked out well. Hence, I was able to update my device to 2.0.1.

ITunes Update Deleted Apps and won't back Apps up

I was helping a friend who uses Windows. He upgraded his iPod touch last night and when he did it deleted half of the apps that he had on the device. The apps that are on the iPod touch aren't getting backed up to iTunes either.
I am a Mac user and haven't seen anything like this so I was not able to help him.
Any ideas?

This problem is usually caused by a restriction setting on the device you are syncing with. You may have enabled this setting to prevent your kids from making purchases while you weren’t looking.
To fix this problem, disable the restriction with these steps.
From the iPhone, iPod or iPad, select “Settings“.
Select “General“.
Tap “Restrictions“.
Enter the password that was set on the device. If you don’t know it, ask anybody who has handled the device to see if they set a password.
Slide the “Installing Apps” setting to “On“.

IOS updates to apps not showing

For the last two days, whenever I click on the button "Check for updates" in the Apps section of iTunes, it does nothing. It won't tell me whether there are are aren't any updates to any of my apps. I don't know what caused this, it just seemed to stop doing this on its own. I thought downloading yesterday's update to iTunes 10.2.2 would fix it, but it's still there.
Any help would be appreciated.

Glad we got it figured out.
I ran across that recently reported problem when reading around the Internet.
That is why I can't understand why some people think that all Apps are created equal just because you can download them from Apple.
Apple really has no control of 3rd party Apps other than they have to meet certain criteria.
Some Apps may or may not work properly. Some Apps drain the battery more than others. Apple does not check for these types of things. Mostly only for following their rules and regulations in coding etc...

I updated to the one with the game center and after a new sync it removed apps!!
One of them was TomTom and some others, when i wanted to reinstall them true app store it asked to pay again.
What do i need to do??

IOS UPDATE DELETED EVERYTHING ON MY IPHONE

While updating to IOS6, my iphone crashed, and asked me to plug it into the computer. In doing so, iTunes used that to overwrite my backup, and now I have lost every picture and conversation I had on my phone... I am very very frustrated right now! Any help?

i want to update to 5.1 and it says that it will backup and restore all apps photos songs and everything.so,does updating delete apps or anything or erase app data and progress??

If you update on your syncing computer and all synced media like app, music and synced photos are in yur itunes library/on the computer, you will not lose them nor ose apps date. The backup that iTunes makes as the first step of the update includes app dat and some other things but does not include synced media.

I'm in a quandary and need some help. Bare with me if I forgot details.
I moved all music to an external drive and a week later, it died.
I got a new laptop and downloaded iTunes 9.2
I've transfered all my purchased music and applications from the iPhone to my new iTunes.
_*I'm getting ready for the updates and have the following questions:*_
Some applications aren't showing up (ie. Project 365). Why would that be?
An error message pops up when I want to "sync" my applications. Since I transfered my purchases, do I ignore?
Do I need to sync my iPhone to my new iTunes before the iOS update?
If I ignore the warning messages, will the iOS update delete applications?
The iOS update has warnings. What will I lose?
I am currently running an (3 hour!)iPhone backup.
I swear I'm not that computer illiterate, but extraordinaryly cautious since losing everything.

If you did not backup prior to upgrading and the cancel button is showing, do that now. You should always backup before doing an upgrade. If it asks you to sync your apps then do that. Your backup during upgrade will take hours because itunes is sending all your data to Apple instead of just internally inside your computer.

Is it the school's iPad or yours? If it's the school's I wouldn't be fooling with trying to update it Besides, both the update and activation servers are being hammered very hard right now with people updating/activating. If you decide to update it and have the permission to do so, wait a few days to let this mad rush clear out. You wouldn't want your iPad to be NOT working because it could not be activated due to the wealth of people do so.
But to answer your question, Apps already on the device should remain on the device if you update the iOS.

Why does it say Apple ID disabled when I try to update an app

Why does it say my Apple ID is disabled when I try to update an app.? My ID works for everything else. Also, I thought with the new iOS update that apps are supposed to update themselves but mine haven't.

On your Mac/PC open iTunes (make sure it is updated). On the tabs on the left click on "iTunes Store". This will change the window on the right to the iTunes store. The top right corner should have your Apple ID or Sign In written. If there is an Apple ID written click on it and Sign Out. The corner should then change to "Sign In".
Now click on Sign In and sign in with the wrong/incorrect Apple ID that you no longer wish to use or update from.
Once logged in, click on the down arrow that shows when you move the pointer on the top right corner where it should now show the apple id, and select Account.
The page that opens up should have a section called "iTunes in the Cloud" with a tab on the side saying "Manage Devices".
Click on Manage Devices. Its should list your iPhone or iPad that you no longer wish to use with this Apple ID. And click Remove.
Once its confirmed click "Done" and from the top right corner select Sign Out.

In App Store, ok to update while app is running?

My general programmer instincts tell me that I should close an app before I update it from the web. But when I'm about to update an app in the App Store, it never tells I need to close the app first. What's the best procedure here? How can iOS update an app that's open? Thanks.

I update my browsers all of the time while the app is open in the recents tray. I do not "close it" in the recents tray. However I have never tried to update the app and then go back to actively use it at the same time.
My non programmer instincts tell me that I don't think that would work, but I have never tried to use the app and update it at the same time. Why take a chance and mess up the download.

Hi,
the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1).
