IOS update for iPod 4th generation

Will there be an update for iPod 4th generation? Or is Apple forcing us to buy a more recent product to get the ios7 update?

No
As Apple announced in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod touch
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

  • I can't update my iPod 4th generation to ios 6

I can't update my iPod 4th generation to ios 6... I've updated my iTunes to 10.7 checked my security software tried restoring my iPod and then downloading on my device and my laptop. When I connect it to the computer I try downloading & updating and only downloading.. Still nothing I get error messages, can't connect to update server messages.. I'm just thinking about giving up... What the heck do i do !!??? Will the local apple store do it for me and what's so going to be on the 5th gen I may just wait and get that one. Please help.

Are you sure you have a proper Internet connection? Make sure your iPod is connected to your computer, and you have an Internet connection.
Don't even get me started on the iPod Touch 5G, I actually own an iPod Touch 4G, and I've considered a lot about if I should get the new one. At first look, you might be sold by the features Apple has on their iPod Touch page. It has a taller screen that's a 4-inch Retina Display, has a much better camera with a flash, and comes with iOS 6 preinstalled with Siri. But the real breakthrough comes with the new connector. It's called Lighting, and it's much smaller. But if you have a dock connector that comes with some cars, and maybe a set of speakers or docking stations as alarm clocks, I encourage you not to get the new one. The usage of your old connectors requires a $30 adapter, which is a ridiculous price. And who knows how secure the adapters will be with your docking stations? I personally think Apple has crossed the line. If they are to put a new connector with their new products, they should ship with an adapter in the box, at least at first. This is why I strongly encourage you NOT to get the new 5th generation iPod Touch.
Sorry if I went a little off-topic there, but I wanted to get my point across. For your updating to iOS 6, I reccommend you check out other discussions in the support comunity, and see what other contributors have to say. Or go on Google and search your error messages, possibly someone might've already went through the same problem as you did. I really hope this helped!

  • Will there be an ios update for ipod 2 gen ?

will there be an ios update for ipod 2 gen ?

I doubt it since it has been over a year since Apple released an update for the 2G iPod. A 2G can only go to iOS 4.2.1
    A 1G to iOS 3.1.3.

  • I would just like to ask apple if they can make ios 7 for ipod 4th gen because my friends are showing off the new ios 7 with there ipod 5 or iphone

i would just like to ask apple if they can make ios 7 for ipod 4th gen because my friends are showing off the new ios 7 with there ipod 5 or iphone

No. The hardware in the fourth-gen iPod touch won't handle iOS 7 or Apple would have released it for your model of iPod. If you want to run iOS 7, you'll need a new iPod.
    Regards.

  • IOS update for ipod touch

Where can I find IOS updates for my Ipod Model number MA623LL?

You have the original iPod touch. It can only go as high as iOS 3.1.3.
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.

  • Ios 7 for ipod 4th gen

can i get ios 7 for ipod touch 4th gen at apple store

Wagglee, it's a matter of RAM. iOS 7 requires 512 MB of RAM. Currently the only the iPod 5 has the required 512 MB of RAM, and there is no way to increase the RAM size on an iPod. Hope this helps, Cheers.

  • How do i update my ipod 4th generation into ios 6?

How can I update my ipod touch 4th generation 4.2.1 into ios 6. I have installed the latest version of iTunes on my computer, then I connected my ipod to it. However, I tunes is saying that ios8 is the latest update, and I want to update to ios 6. How do I solve this problem?

If your iPod is currently running iOS 4.2.1, that suggests that it is in fact a 2nd generation Touch, not 4th. If I recall correctly, the 4th gen Touch came with iOS 5 on it.
To check whether your iPod is 2nd gen, look on the back at the etched text (you may need a magnifying glass). If it states Model No. A1288, then it's a second generation Touch, which cannot be updated beyond iOS 4.2.1
Alternatively, if you connect your Touch to your iTunes Library (on your computer) and use the Check for Updates feature on the Device/Summary pane. If it comes back and states "your iPod is up to date", then there are no updates for it.

  • HT5192 what happen if i updated my ipod (4th generation) from there and not from my coputer??

update my ipod touch 4th generation from there and not from my computer?

Connecting to a new computer or iTunes will always erase the device first. Back up manually before, by right clicking on the iPod in the device list and choosing "backup". A manual backup does not include the sync process. You can use this backup to restore from after your iPod got wiped during the first sync.
See also iTunes: About iOS backups to see more info about the content of a backup, and How to back up your data and set up as a new device if you want to know more about saving info from the iPod before setting it up in iTunes.

  • Can apple put an update for ipod 6th generation so that it gives better quality sound?

I have an ipod 6th generation and i have heard a lot about apple's popular white earphones. The problem is that my ipod don't give enough volume to enjoy music from those white earphones. Can apple bring something new in their updates to fix this issue???
    HELP !!!

You must realize that the quality of sound has been compromised by the very fact of compression and equipment. You are never likely to experience the nature of a live event by listening on an iPod. The best solution is to get a better quality of earbuds/ earphones/ headphones to improve the playback experience. The higher quality headphones such as Bose, Sennheiser, Sony have capabilities to counter ambient interference ( Bose noise-cancelling for example), and they have a better quality speaker than the Apple earbuds. This standard issue bit of kit is more of a courtesy to iPod buyers so that they will have something right out of the box in order to listen to their music but they are not the highest audio quality. The best audio quality will cost every bit as much as, or even more than, the cost of an iPod. As for turning up the volume, that is a foolish undertaking that can have long-term consequences on your hearing. Tinnitus cannot be cured! You will live with it unto your last days.
