Ios updates download without permission?  AGAIN?

Is anyone else having an issue where iOS updates are downloading automatically without permission?  I've checked my settings and ALL of the Automatic Download options on my iOS devices are set to OFF.  But 8.3 has downloaded automatically without asking on several.   I know that it's easy to delete the download without installing it, but doesn't this just defeat the point?  I thought we were past this after the undeletable iOS7 forced-download debacle.

iOS downloaded (occupying space in the device) automatically and ready to install...

Go into the App Store, tap Updates, and at the top should appear Purchases. Hit the tab that says "Not on this iPhone" to download again

  • Macbook upgraded from 10.5.8 to mountain lion. I lost the update when I tried to restore my old information. How can I get my update back without paying again?

I took my mac to an iStore in South Africa however my country does not have an iStore. Macbook upgraded from 10.5.8 to mountain lion. I lost the update when I tried to restore my old information. How can I get my update back without paying again?

Ok, that sounds like a valid approach...but now the question is, when you say you lost the upgrade when you tried to restore, exactly what do you mean?  Restore from a Time Machine backup, or another kind of backup?  What happened to the operating system when you did that?
If it damaged the operating system, you should be able to recover it by restarting your computer holding either the Option key (should result in a grey screen that shows the macintosh hard drive and a recovery hard drive), or by holding the Command and R keys while starting.
You can use the recovery hard drive to reinstall Mac OS X either way.  If the Option key restart, click on the recovery hard drive to boot from that.
Then with either approach you will have a screen with a drop-down that gives you choices, such as install Mac OS X, Disk Utility, Terminal.  You will want to use Install (or Reinstall) Mac OS X...note, you must be connected to the internet from this point on.

  • Is anyone else having issues if they purchased a Season and it is NOW not allowing downloads without charging again

is anyone else having issues if they purchased a Season and it is NOW not allowing downloads without charging again
I get my email to download then ... it won't.   I go to the store and its showing charges again... rather than PURCHASED

Not just you. I too am having this issue including with a movie I just purchased.
If you follow mario49's advice they will eventually help you by posting the purchases to your account again (not actually fixing the current issue) but be VERY specific with them and be prepared to explain your issue about 4 times (I have taken to just copy and pasting) before they actually read what you told them and help out.
e-mail 1: Response was to explain the difference between a season pass and individual orders (even though I attached the season pass order number to the issue message).
e-mail 2: Reponse explained how to redownload episodes again (even though I had clearly stated it was a latest episode on a season pass).
e-mail 3: I may have yelled a little bit here.
e-mail 4: This one was a complaint about the pre-order that was charged but also now giving me the "you haven't paid for this" message. I attached the earlier complaint # to this one and got they same service person. This time he re-posted every episode from the above season pass to my account and my movie so I got the new episode I was looking for and about 5 others I was not.
Now I just have to go through all of this for my other 11 season passes that won't download either.
    Good Luck.

PS is it just me or does everyone get the impression Apple has now farmed out thier customer service to Mircosoft?

  • IOS Update - Download now and install later?

When I was offered the newest iOS 5.0.1 update, I was also offered to only download it and not (yet?) update my iPhone. After all, it takes a while during which I can't use the phone.
So I thought it would be a good idea to just do the download (75 minutes!) and update my iPhone later.
However, when I came back today, I was offered an iTunes update. Okay.
Later today I connected my iPhone to the computer and clicked "update", but the previously downloaded iOS update was gone. Download started again. What did I do wrong? Or - what is a download-only function good for, if I can't continue later?
    Cheers
    Hinrich

What are we talking about, an OS upgrade (like to Mavericks?)
Yes you can download and quite the installer.  It will be located in your application folder.

  • HT1222 The 6.1 IOS update download times out when my I Pod is connected to itunes, why?

When I connect my iPod touch 4 to i Tunes it asks me if I want to update my software to IOS 6.1. When I agreed it starts to download and says that it will take about 2 minutes. The time then starts to increase quickly and then the server times out. I had the same problem with my i Phone and i Pad, but as they could connect through my home's wifi they updated outsside of i tunes. My i Pod touch 4 is the only item out of date. I cant find any help on the Aplle Web site.

Thanks, I don't get an error message just that the network connection timed out. It races to about 85mb of fownload and then stops dead. I have run a diagnostics on I Tunes and it says all is ok

  • Firefox updated twice without permission. Why? I set "no auto update"!

I am the only account besides admin.
Firefox updates after shutdown even though automatic updates are disabled.
I rely on certain plugins and telling me they are disabled after an update is unacceptable, with no easy way to revert to older version.
Posting this with SeaMonkey which still works.
Google update doesn't show in plugins and has been disabled through windows.

    Thanks to both of you.
I am grateful for your efforts and realise that Firefox is volunteer based.
However well intended, forcing someone to accept updates is too much like Microsoft/Big Brother.
I never install xx.0 of anything and offering work arounds for this isn't acceptable.
I don't want to give up on Firefox as many folks I know have.
Please just make it comply with "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them".
That's clear enough, and I'd still be notified.

  • Facebook app downloaded without permission/automatically

I didn't download the Facebook app , i was using safari then my phone froze and restarted itself. And now i have the Facebook app.I'm pretty sure i neither entered my pass nor used my fingerprint to allow it.How can this be possible ? Any ideas ?

Could be that you did have Automatic Downloads enabled, but then reset settings at some point, or whatever Safari page you were on had a link to the App Store and you accidentally installed it.  Could be a lot of things.  Not really sure.
I recommend deleting the app and keeping an eye out to see if the issue resurfaces.

  • How can I transfer my iOS update to another iPad?

How can I transfer my iPad  iOS update download to my wife's computer so that she can update without having to download the update all over again?

Ok, on your computer, navigate to ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
(Note this is usually a hidden location, so choose the Go menu in the Finder, hold down Alt and you'll see Library appear. Select this).
In the iTunes/iPhone Software Updates folder you'll find the iOS update download (.ipsw file). Copy this to your wife's computer. Connect her iPad, open iTunes,
In the Info pane for her iPad, hold Shift and click on Update and then browse to and select the .ipsw file you copied over. iTunes will then use this locally stored file instead of re-downloading it again.

  • HT1222 IoS 8 downloading is very slow and estimated time is upto 16 hrs? What to do?

IoS 8 is not downloading in my mobile?
I have iPhone 5 mobile what to do plz help?

    Hello there Sayed Shah Jehan,
It sounds like your iOS update is downloading too slow. Take a look at this information from the following article, about troubleshooting over the air downloads:
Resolve issues with an over-the-air iOS update
Download takes a long time, or you can't reach update server
iOS updates require a persistent Internet connection, and the time it takes to download the update will vary according to the size of the update and your Internet speed. You can use your device normally while downloading the iOS update, and iOS will notify you when you can install the update. To improve the speed of the download, avoid downloading other content.
If you get a message that "an error occurred downloading iOS," try again later. If the issue persists, try updating your device in another network or use iTunes to update your device. Learn more about iOS updates.
    Update does not complete
If you're installing the update and the progress bar appears to move slowly, be patient. The time an update takes depends on the size of the update and the number of files on the device.
When you're updating over the air, keep your device connected to a power source so that it doesn't run out of power. If your device does run out of power, connect it to a power source and turn on the device to let the update or restore complete.
If the update never completes and the progress bar hasn't moved for an extended time, try restarting your device. If you still see the issue after you restart, see what to do if your device appears frozen or won't start.
You can also use iTunes on your computer to update your iPhone, so that is an option as well:
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch iOS software
The 'Update your device using iTunes' section speficially.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • How can I push out an IOS update to 500  iPads?

I am responsible for 500+ iPads at my school and would like to push IOS updates to them.

There is no way to just go push ios updates remotely without a third party application, if that is what you meant. To update ios you have many options. You can go to each iPad and download the ios. Or show the students how to download the ios themselves. But if I were you I would get an iPad cart, and go to few classes a day, collect the iPads during that period and use apple configurator application to download the updated ios. Then give the iPads back. If you have any more question just give me your school e-mail address and I will help as best as I can.
    -Hope this helps.
