Ios updation of iphone 3gs.
i m currently running 4.1 on my iphone 3gs. for using more apps i want an update of it to at least 4.3 or later. Is it possible??
itunes showing update to 6.1. I heard that 3gs becomes slower on ios 6.1 etc, is that true? and can i upgrade it to some like 5.0, 5.1 ??

Every time i connect it to itunes all it says is "There is no SIM card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate." Even thought there is a sim card connected in my phone.Is the SIM from a supported carrier?
Is the device carrier locked, officially unlocked, or hacked to be unlocked?
Has the SIM been reseated? If not, try that.
Also, basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore. Has any of that been tried? -

The screen you're seeing on your iPhone indicates it is in recovery mode. Now since the device is not appearing in iTunes on your PC, first follow the steps in this article:

I updated my iphone 3gs today with ios 5. I had 5 custom ringtones on my phone before updating. After updating, it will not allow me to transfer 2 of those ringtones onto my phone. I deleted both ringtones and recreated them. They are in my itunes ringtone library, and show under my phone ringtones. When I sync my phone, 2 will not sync onto my phone? Any information will be greatly appreciated!!!!!
have you tried resetting
hold sleep / home button until apple logo appears ignoring red slider and
allow to reboot

Help Me!!! IOS 5.1.1 update on Iphone 3gs screwed up my wifi

As you pointed out, turning on Compass in Location Services will only provide you the Longitude and Latitude on on the compass interface.
To enable the "True North" option you will have to turn on the "Compass Calibration". It is located in the "System Services" menu.
iOS5: Settings > Location Services > System Services
iOS6: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services
Based on the test I just did (iPhone4 iOS6), both "Compass" and "Compass Calibration" have to be turned on for the "True North" option to be enabled in the Compass app. -

Generally that is a sign that the iPhone had previously been jailbroken
or hacked to work with other than the original wireless provider. The update
has relocked the iPhone to the original wireless provider. You must
contact them to see if they provide unlocking and if you qualify.
If you can get that far, what does it say when you look at
Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier? -

It sounds like you have a hacked/unofficially unlocked iphone. When you update, it will indeed lock it back, as it should.
The ONLY place that can legitimately unlock an iphone is the carrier to which they are locked and no U.S. carrier does this. -

PLSS HELP ME OUT !!!!Sounds like your phone was hacked to work with any network. Doing the update re-locked it to the original carrier. All you can do now is contact the carrier it is locked to to see if they have an unlocking policy. Note that if it's AT&T they do not offer unlocking. otherwise find an un-activated sim for the original carrier and you can use it as an iPod.

Since updating my iphone 3gs to the ios 5.1.1 updating. My phone has been not reckonising wifi as existing and when it does find my wifi eg at home. It will then connect or disconnect randomly.
Will we have to await a new update? or has there been any fixes identified for this issue?iMessage is activated and the settings are exactly the same as yet were before I updated (when iMessage worked) and I have full Internet signal, both wifi & 3G but it doesn't work though either. I have had no error messages it just simple won't work.

Downgrading the iOS is not supported, and likely has caused the problems you are experiencing.
