IOS x on my windows PC

I am thinking of converting to Mac iOS x.  I have a quad core amd with a ton of ram and hd space. I have an iPad and iPhone and have really like the operating of both.  If I install iOS x will I be able to access my files on the windows side while in Mac mode?  My company is on windows based and would need to be able to utilize windows files.  Does iOS x support dual screen configurations?  How much does iOS x cost I haven't found it on bestbuy to buy it?

First off, Apple makes two operating systems: Mac OS X for its Macintosh line of computers, and iOS for its mobile devices. These are separate, and there is no "Mac iOS X." However, I'm assuming you mean simply "Mac OS X."
While technically possible to install on non-Apple hardware, you will be met with a number of challenges when doing so, the least of which is this violates Apple's license agreement for the use of OS X. However, if you are a tinkerer and simply wish to try your hand at it there are a number of resources online for how to do so, but you won't find guidance here. Apple has in the past removed discussions regarding installing OS X on non-Apple hardware.
Lastly, any setup like this would likely be unstable and have a number of problems, so while perhaps fun for a hobby, if you are lookign to convert to OS X as your main system then the general recommendation is to not use it on thrid-party hardware to ensure your system does not crash or otherwise run poorly.

    Hello ibebry
Try using the Software Update on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update. One thing to keep in mind if you are trying it on the computer is to make sure that you are not pressing any keys down when checking for updates as that may bring up a pop up window to find the update file.

I don't understand your question.  You mention iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad OS) but you say you have Windows 7, and not which of the devices you want to upgrade to iOS 7.  Your question about installing iOS 7 is probably best asked on one fo the forums for your iOS device, like the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch forums.

iPhone 4s. IOS 7.1.1 Windows 7. Using same lead and usb socket as always. From yesterday my phone won't appear on computer. Will charge via usb lead. Dont have iTunes on this computer and never had. Am now being asked if I trust this computer. This is new. Also takes longer than usual to signal it is charging. Get usual sound notification but nothing appear in computer. I long ago disables automatic notification that phone was connected. Prefer to bring it up manually.

Within Contacts, tap Groups at top left. Make sure all contact groups are checked to show, then tap "Done" at top right.
Within the Calendar app, tap Calendars at the bottom center of the screen. Tap on Show All Calendars.

I am having a problem that I cannot find addressed. My old computer TOTALLY died - it won't even turn on to deauthorize, back-up, and all those other steps given to transfer my music. All the info I have found, says you can authorize up to 5 devices etc, but so far, nothing is working. I just want to transfer my library, and don't have hours to spend on this. I have searched and searched, and really sincerely need help, and please - only helpful comment - yeah, obviously I am missing something some where. If anyone can offer some kind advice, I would REALLY be grateful!

  • Having trouble setting up an Ad Hoc network with both iOS, Mac OS, and Windows.

So I'm skiing with some friends but we forgot to bring a router with us.  The lodge internet is passable but we only have one ethernet connection.  My friend connected his (windows) laptop to the ethernet and set up an Ad-Hoc network.  The problem is that only Mac OS and iOS devices are able to connect to the network and use the internet.  The windows machines and Droid devices can't connect or in some cases they can connect they can't use the internet.
My question is what special wizardry allows Mac OS and iOS to work fine on the ad hoc network but not the other platforms?  Is there something I can do to get the other machines to connect to the network?  Would things work better if I hosted the Ad Hoc network? Thanks for all the help.

Hi Munkiez, and a warm welcome to the forums!

  • Error 500 from Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac and for iOS but not for Windows

I am running Windows Server Standard 2012 as a basic File server and Remote Access Server.  I am able to log into to Server remotely using Windows Remote Desktop Client on Windows 7 and 8 machines without problems
When I try to log in using outside the local network using MRD version 8.0.24308 using OS X 10.9.1 or using iOS 7.0.4, I get the following error:
" The gateway failed to connect with the message: 500 Internal Server Error"
I can also log in remotely WITHIN the local network on a Mac or iOS device, it works without getting an error
    Any Ideas?

My IT person has tried all these and I still get a 500 error when I log in from Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.5.
Here is part of the MRD log dump (not clear where to send the log since MRD doesn't provide an address when you dump the log into email):

    Hi R@V!,
I see that you are experiencing issues when attempting to use iTunes for Windows with your iPhone in iOS 8. I have an article for you here that should help you troubleshoot this issue a little further:

I am unable to downgrade my iCloud storage plan in Windows or on my iOS device.  I cannot hit the "done" button to change the plan.  Any ideas?

If you have given correct info about you ios 6.1.3 - all you need to do is delete account. You will be able to sign in with new one afterwards. Make sure you don't delete any info when you see those prompts.

  • IOS 7 lacks multi-windows

It's fine that iOS 7 has without multiple windows on iPhone and iPod touch, or even iPad mini.  What about iPad?

Thanks b j t but I'm not expecting the list of iOS 7 devices.  What I have been expecting is to see 2 to 4 apps on the big screen of iPad.  There must be some unique features taking advantage of the iPad big screen.  I just don't find them.
After watching the last few minutes about iOS 7 on http://www.apple.com/apple-events/june-2013/, I found the iOS 7 has a feel of Microsoft Windows 8 (difficult to swallow!).  I wish it's only my personal and temporary perception.  In many screens, they look like paper templates on a remote control.  The bright-white background sores my eyes so quickly!
Some nice features just not available to me on my iPhone 4S and the "New iPad" (iPad 3)  e.g. AirDrop.
Can I opt out the "Automatic App Update"?  Or I may wait for iOS 7+1.

  • Need Help backing up multiple iOS devices to one Windows PC computer

So, first off, let me say that I have been scouring these forum posts as well as reading many google search results for what I am about to ask here, but I have not been able to find a definitive answer as to go about what I am trying to accomplish.
Some background – we are using 2 iphones both using the same Apple ID.  We have no need to create separate Apple IDs as this has been working just fine for us for the past 3-4 years.  Everything from text messaging, facetime, to purchases I have setup just the way we like it and we have no issues with anything conflicting.
    So, here goes.
I would like to use one Windows computer using the same user account on said PC to be able to backup both my iphone and my wifes iphone.
Here is the issue I am running into.  I have used iTunes to backup my wifes iphone and all went as expected.  What I then tried to do was plug my iphone into the computer and attempt to backup my iphone but problem is, I get only the option to setup the phone as new or restore from my wifes backup, neither of which I want to do.
So, I thought about using the trick to create another library by holding down the Shift Key while starting iTunes and then selecting Create new library.  But when I then plug in my iphone and fire up and select the newly created library to backup my iphone to, I still get only get the option to either setup as new or backup from my wifes iphone.
Am I doing something wrong when creating this new library or is what I am trying to do not possible.
I know I can create another user account on the PC and the backup will then work just fine as I had to do it this way for a family member because I could not get the second library option to work the way I am trying to make it work.
In this post I created, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6652211 I got no responses that helped me figure this out.
So, if anyone can set me straight on how to use iTunes to backup my devices using the same PC user account with all Apple devices using the same Apple ID I would greatly appreciate it.
Step by step would really be helpful if it is at all possible.
    - Dan

There are experts here with far greater knowledge than I
    but here goes
This is where windows stores the iTunes back up files
    Windows Vista and Windows 7:
    \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
So - if you cut the file and paste it elsewhere (Desktop or Documents or a flash drive) - will the iTunes be fooled into creating a second one?
Of course you would have to label them well in case you need to retrieve them later - but I guess worth a try
If it does not work you can always plop the prior files back to where you pinched them from
    Please let us know
    Thanks
