IOS XE debugging problem

Does IOS XE not support debugging of received packets with the "debug ip packet" output?  I have a case where the router only shows locally generated packets in "debug ip packet [detail]" output, but nothing that is being received.  This is both for data plane, e.g. ICMP echo, and for control plane, e.g. EIGRP or OSPF hellos.  I tried disabling CEF as well but it's not supported on this platform:
Router(config)#no ip cef distributed
%Cannot disable CEF on this platform
Router(config-if)#no ip route-cache
Platform cannot disable ip route-cache on GigabitEthernet1 interface
This is on IOS XE ver 03.11.00.S for CSR1000v.

HI,
I am not sure about the Platform you are using, however i've seen similar issues with ASRs. We had to apply an Access-list with a log keyword at the end of it to make sure that the packets are hitting the CPU and it does show up in the debugs.
Sample Access-list
ip access-list extended TEST
permit ip any any log
However just a Heads up if you do want to try this please make sure that the traffic is not so much on the interface as this will cause almost all the packets to be CPU switched. Maybe you can apply this log keyword to some specific statement in the ACL if you know the source and destination IP address of the traffic that you want to see.

HK

  • JApplet debugging problem

    Hi there all:
    I'm having a problem with debugging a JApplet. I created a new workspace, project and applet and didn't make any changes to anything. When I try to debug the applet, I get these messages:
    System Error: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission modifyThreadGroup )
    System Error: java.lang.Object java.lang.Class.newInstance0()
    System Error: java.lang.Object java.lang.Class.newInstance()
    System Error: java.applet.Applet sun.applet.AppletPanel.createApplet(sun.applet.AppletClassLoader)
    System Error: void sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader()
    System Error: void sun.applet.AppletPa
    System Error: nel.run()
    System Error: void java.lang.Thread.run()
    If I change the object from a JApplet class to an Applet class, I can debug just fine.
    Anyone know what's going on here?
    Thanks
    Jeff

    Me again. Was doing some searching on the net about this one since I've gotten no response.
    Found this at Inprise (Borland) about a debugging problem with JBuilder3 (I assume that the base of jdev is still JBuilder).
    http://community.borland.com/article/0,1410,19739,00.html
    To quote from their document--------
    Question:
    I can't seem to debug Applets with JBuilder3 Standard. If I attempt to debug my Applet
    I recieve the following error:
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission
    modifyThreadGroup )
    at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:195)
    at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:403)
    at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:549)
    Why?
    Answer:
    In a nutshell this is an installation problem with JBuilder3 Standard edition.
    The install for JBuilder3 Standard did not provide the file 'DebugApplet.policy'.
    To resolve this problem download the file from the following URL:
    http://www.borland.com/devsupport/jbuilder/downloads/DebugApplet.policy
    After you have downloaded the file, copy the file to your JBuilder3\bin directory.
    This will fix the problem.
    You can also cut and paste the following:
    (NOTE: create the file DebugApplet.policy in your JBuilder3\bin directory)
    //DebugApplet.policy
    // These policy permissions are needed for the AppletViewer used by sun.tools.debug.
    grant {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "accessClassInPackage.*";
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "modifyThread";
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "modifyThreadGroup";
    permission java.net.SocketPermission "*", "accept, connect, listen, resolve";
    permission java.util.PropertyPermission "appletviewer.version", "read";
    permission java.io.FilePermission "<>", "read";
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    Could this be a problem in JDev3 too?

    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • Problems iOS 7 debugging

    I am having some issues when debugging an OSMF based player  in Flash Builder / iOS Simulator. I hoping to get some advice froom Adobe team.
    I am using OS X 10.9, AIR SDK 4.0, Apache Flex 4.11.0, and Xcode 5.02, and Flash Builder 4.7.
    Problem 1) The app is not supposed to be full screen but for some reason when testing in iOS Simulator it takes over the entire screen of the device. It does not do this when installed on Android devices.
    Problem 2) A navigation button does not work properly. This button is supposed to call a method that does some work and at the end closes the app. Here is the code. It fails to do anythign in iOS but works fine in Android devices.
    <s:actionContent>
          <s:Button label="Exit" click="exitingApp()"/>
    <s:actionContent>

  • How come they still haven't fixed the ios 6 wifi problem on ios 6.0.1 making me mad -.-

    I know apple or the tech support doesn't read this but come on tell them to fix the wifi problem that started from ios 6 and still continuing to ios 6.0.1. I already gave them another feedback like 5 days ago. I really don't want to reconnect to my wifi everytime. I already did everything possibly to fix my wifi problem. I know its IOS 6.0.1 because it started with ios 6 and still not fixed by apple update to 6.0.1.
    I have a very limit data plan of 300 MB on at&t and I don't want to go over so I rely on my wifi most of the time.

    Maybe you just lucked out but both my devices running ios 6.0.1 have wifi problems shutting of at random times during sleep. I know you guys will say when its plugged in it doesn't lose wifi true but I never remember having this problem in the previous ios verison from ios 4 to 5(On my Iphone 4, and from my Iphone 4s from IOS 5) until I updated both devices to ios 6  or even when I had a iTouch 3rd gen long time ago I never remember it shutting of my wifi. I am telling you this never happened before IOS 6 where I need to leave it plugged in just to have my wifi during wake up.
    GTR
    I thought I believed my iPhone 4 with iOS5.0 would not disconnect during sleep mode. However, I was wrong. What I did was to ping the IP addresses on my iPhone 4 (iOS5) and iPhone 5 (iOS 6 then, and iOS6.0.1 now) when they were in sleep mode. Very true that there were timed-out on both devices. Once I woke them up, ping went thru. I did a scan on my home network using my iPad while the other 2 phones were in sleep mode, I was not able to see them.
    I thought my iPhone4 did not disconnect too. But again, I think the reconnecting to wifi on iOS 5 is SO MUCH quicker than on iOS6 so user would think there was never a disconnect.

    I have another problem in debugging an mpi problem in another installation of Sun Studio on Solaris 10 on a Sun machine. The visual debugger is working fine there, however, I need to debug with mpirun
    to decide the number of processors, because by default it loads the application on one processor. Iwill need to do this as well later on the linux machine I am using now, which doesn't even start the debugger on a sequential code so far.

    Hi
    Thank you for your reply. you said 2 problems,Yes, basically I meant these two:
    1. dbx: warning: unknown location expression code (0xe0)
    2. dbx: panic: "ThreadAgent::setup_helper"(): Assertion (ta_td_agent) failed - "thread.cc":2674
    First one should be fixed in dbx itself, but the second looks like an incompatibility between Fedora's libc and dbx; unless distros in "supported" list upgrade to the same version of libc, dbx can't be changed to match it.
    In other words, I'm sorry to say that you will probably not succeed in using dbx on Fedora 8 for the time being.

  • Update to iOS 5.1 problem from a MacBook Pro

    Hi all,
    Today I've got my first problem with my MacBook Pro. I've tried to update my iPhone to iOS 5.1 but without success.
    First of all I am using Lion 10.7.3 which is up to date.
    The problems we're as following:
    1. Tried to update through iTunes, but I've got a pop-up message which tries to contact the iPhone Update Center and it stayed on my screen for about 2 hours without downloading anything.
    2. Tried to manually download the update from appdnld.apple.com and also without success. I've tried this using Safari and Firefox.
    After this I've tried downloading it from an Windows PC and surprise, I've managed to download it very easy.
    Does anybody know what am I missing?
    Also I've tried with OTA and also without succes. I've got the same message that says that the Update Center cannot be reached.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stefan

    sdascalu,
    As BBidwell said, that's what worked for me.  I've got an iPod Touch, changed the WiFi DNS settings, meaning erased the old settings [you may want to write them down before clearing them], and I used 8.8.8.8, 8.8.8.4 which worked perfectly.  I was able to update to iOS 5.1 using Update on the iPod.  Worked just fine.
    Hope this info helps you.

  • IPod Touch iOS 4 Update Problem

    Hello,
    Today I received a new iPod touch 8GB 2nd Generation from Apple, after my old one's audio jack failed. When I got home I decided to try and update to iOS 4 from 3.1.3. Download went fine, started to install. Everything went fine until my iPod got stuck with the Apple logo and the loading bar beneath. On my MacBook the loading bar is stuck on roughly 5%.
    I was like sure, this has happened before to my 1st 8GB iTouch, we ended up getting that one replaced, then got the replaced one replaced again. So now I am on my second replacement, and it has failed me again.
    I held down the home and lock button until it has reset. Original image comes up from when you first purchase the iPod, so yes I plug it into my laptop.
    "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes"
    Ok sure, so I decided to follow the instructions. Extracts all the data fine, then yet again gets stuck on roughly 5%, with the same image shown on the iPod.
    Any one have any idea? Or will I have to return it to Apple.
    Thanks.

    I also initially had problems updating my iPod Touch 32GB 2G. I also got stuck with the Apple logo and the loading bar. iTunes gave me the message it could not connect with the iPod. I reset the device and tried again. This time I just had the Apple logo and no indication on iTunes that a device was connected. I disconnected the iPod and reset it again.
    At this point I thought about the fact that my battery was low and that I was also using a USB hub. I then used an external charger to charge up the battery on the iPod. After that I connected it directly to a USB port on my computer and this time it updated the software with no problem. I don't know if charging the iPod and connecting it directly to the computer made the difference or not. Perhaps as they say, the third time is the charm. So you might just need to try a couple more times. Good luck.
    I will also say that the upgrade seems to be a good one. After upgrading my iPod to OS4.0 I was getting several crashes a day and some apps just would not work. I haven't had a lot of time with OS4.1 but I haven't had any crashes since updating and programs that were not working are now working.

  • I have iphone 4 and ios 7. iphone doesn't recognize my wifi at home frequently but my ipads which has old ios have no problem. how can I fix it?

    I have iphone 4 and recently updated IOS to 7.0.4. After that, my iphone is keep going into 3G mode at home. I thought it was the problem with my internet or router. But my husband's iphone and our ipads are not having any issues. I turned off and turn it on many times. It eventually get the wifi, but it disconnects few times and it is really frustrating.
    Also, it seems to me that the battery is dying quicker. Am I the only person having the issue?
    How can I fix the connectivity issue? Or is there any way for me to go back to IOS 6? Some of appes don't work under IOS 7.
    Thank you.

  • IOS 6 causing problems to my 4th gen iPod touch?

    Are there any others like me out there? Okay I've updated my iPod touch approximately two days ago and now it's like the biggest regret of doing so. 1) when it was upgrading the software, my iPod touch went on froze for almost two hours and the upgrade wasn't loading. It only continued after a long while. 2) some of my apps suddenly "disappeared" 3) some of my apps crash when I try to open them (example: App Store, groupon, Facebook and even safari itself even though I only had one page loading) 4) everything became so laggy, my apps take almost forever to load, and whenever I type, it takes quite a while to show up especially in google search 5) sometimes my iPod just "crash" randomly and shows me a black screen for like 5 - 10 seconds and I can't do anything about it but wait until it recover.
    iOS 5.1.1 was MUCH better compared to this. This is really a huge disappointment as it has greatly affected the productivity of my iPod touch. I hope your support team is able to recover and repair this damage caused by the upgrade. I look forward to a MUCH NEEDED IMPROVEMENT upgrade to counter this problem.

    Have you tried doing a DFU restore in iTunes? To do a DFU restore, you will need to put the iPod into DFU mode by following this tutorial: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034
    Then, select restore in iTunes.

  • IOS 6 Icloud problem

    Since uploading IOS 6 I have not been able to access icloud or itunes match on my iphone4...any help much appreciated!

    Hallo Shadowrap411,
